Gerfaut is followed by two hitmen who saw him at the crash site and mistakenly assumed that he is a mercenary hired by competing armament manufacturers to sabotage the deal. After several attempts on the lives of him and his girlfriend are made, Gerfaut flees and follows a series of clues that eventually lead him to the head of the conspiracy, an arms dealer named Emmerich.

They break into his apartment and attempt to find evidence on him, but are forced to flee when Dex comes home early and opens fire on them, wounding Nadeem. When Nadeem tries to blow the whistle on Dex to SAC Tammy Hattley, she reveals she is also in on Fisk's conspiracy, killing a FBI supervisor with Nadeem's gun. With help from Manning, Hattley blackmails him into working with Dex. On orders from Fisk, Dex and Nadeem round up crime bosses John Hammer, Everett Starr, Rosalie Carbone, Latimer Zyl, and Sophia Carter for a secret meeting at which Fisk extorts a protection tax from them, with Dex donning his Daredevil costume again to kill Starr for refusing to pay.

As the film opens, a child pornography shoot is disrupted when its young star Michelle (Cheshire) refuses to perform. The man who recruited her, pedophile Howard "Howie" Nichols (Masur), attempts to reason with director Dennis (Hayward), claiming he "just needs a few days" (in order for Michelle to have an abortion, as Howard had gotten her pregnant). However, Dennis has already made up his mind to dump Michelle and gives Howard an ultimatum: find a more cooperative young "star" or he'll blow the whistle on the operation and disappear, leaving Howard to take the rap. Faced with this threat, Howard agrees to begin searching for a new girl to take Michelle's place.

On June 13, 2018, David Marsocci, a former educator at the school, filed suit for wrongful termination. Marsocci alleged that another teacher used a school computer to seek sexual encounters, and when school administrators decided not to take action against that teacher, Marsocci started a website to blow the whistle on the teacher and administrators. School president John Jackson has said their investigation found the allegations were meritless, and claims that Marsocci fabricated evidence. The litigation remains pending in Kent County Superior Court, in Warwick, RI. Prior to the lawsuit, in 2017, the Department of Labor and Training ruled that the school did not have a policy covering the reason for termination, qualifying Marsocci to receive unemployment benefits.

Schiavo resigned from her position at the U.S. Department of Transportation in order to blow the whistle on what she saw as deficiencies in safety practices by the federal government's oversight of the airline industry. She was publicly critical of high-ranking U.S. aviation officials regarding the ValuJet Flight 592 passenger jet crash in the Florida Everglades which resulted in the deaths of all 110 people aboard. Schiavo appeared on ABC's Nightline program the night after the crash and was highly critical of FAA safety inspections methods. After resigning her position as Inspector General Schiavo taught courses at Ohio State University, and in April 1997 she joined the staff of Ohio State University in the position of Enarson Executive-in-Residence.

A report in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida, citing "Western sources", said that Zygier was accused of offering to sell the names of the Mossad agents responsible for the assassination of Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh to the government of Dubai. The report also stated that the Dubai government agreed to protect Zygier, but that Mossad officials discovered his whereabouts and kidnapped him so he could stand trial in Israel. Dubai Police Chief Dhahi Khalfan Tamim denied the story in an interview. A different theory was aired in Australian media, which alleged that Zygier may have been about to "blow the whistle" on Israeli intelligence operations involving the use of forged Australian passports, and was about to reveal the information either to the Australian government or to the media before he was arrested.

Kroll interviewed several Telegraph journalists, and examined their email and phone records, but was unable to determine which disgruntled journalists decided to blow the whistle on the Telegraphs decision not to publish the Cable comments on Murdoch. Reuters also reported that Kroll had identified that TMG's information security systems were porous and too many people had access to the relevant systems for the leaker to be pinpointed. Kroll advised The Telegraph that because of the number of people who had access to databanks (which included employees for telecoms giant BT) a continued investigation would be unlikely to produce a conclusive result.

In Dirks, the "tippee" received confidential information from an insider, a former employee of a company. The reason the insider disclosed the information to the tippee, and the reason the tippee disclosed the information to third parties, was to blow the whistle on massive fraud at the company. As a result of the tippee's efforts the fraud was uncovered, and the company went into bankruptcy. But, while the tippee had given the "inside" information to clients who made profits from the information, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the tippee could not be held liable under the federal securities laws—for the simple reason that the insider from whom he received the information was not releasing the information for an improper purpose (a personal benefit), but rather for the purpose of exposing the fraud.

U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, modeled the act creating the Office and its reward system after the False Claims Act, which allows people to file actions against federal contractors committing fraud against the US government. For fiscal year 2006, the Justice Department reported that over $3 billion was collected directly as a result of Whistleblower claims and resulting lawsuits. While the Whistleblower Office has the power to assign investigation to other offices within the IRS, it mainly works jointly with other branches within the IRS to investigate claims. The changes to the program through the 2006 amendments were meant to encourage insiders to "blow the whistle on people who are not paying their taxes," in order to close the tax gap and assist the IRS in collecting additional tax revenue.

From 1993 to 1998, Natsios served as Vice President of International Programs for World Vision U.S. Natsios was one of the first people to blow the whistle on the devastating North Korean famine, writing in a Washington Post op-ed in early 1997, "The evidence is incontestible". He travelled to North Korea in June 1997 with World Vision, and was involved in relief efforts as the leader of the Emergency Relief Committee of InterAction, a consortium of American NGOs.

Asoo's (Shaan) father, who works in a local godown or warehouse finds that "poe-durr" (heroin) is being smuggled from the godown and he being the upright, virtuous (idiotic) type decides that he absolutely must go to the police to blow the whistle on the nefarious drug smuggling operation going on under his own very nose at the behest of his own employers. Asoo's dad meets a terrible fate, as the police turns out to be a party to the drug smuggling ring instead of rewarding the poor man for his civic sense and courage, thrashes and beats him to a pulp. Then the old man is fraudulently charged with the theft of Rupees 200,000, humiliated and thrown into prison. Meanwhile, a shell-shocked Asoo arrives at the police station where he is told that unless he manages to get hold of the money that his father has been accused of stealing, matters would get out of hand. When poor Asoo fails to turn up with the money on time the corrupt officer turns up at his home and humiliates Asoo’s mother and hits her and worse causes the dupatta to fall off her head.
