From its western terminus at Interstate 15 in Santaquin, the route heads north-northeast until reaching Payson, where it straightens out to the north. This portion of the route is 100 West in Payson. Soon after, the highway turns east on State Road. The highway veers northeast and eventually to the north-northeast until Spanish Fork, where it runs north again.

The road runs mostly northeast from the city, but straightens out briefly around the intersection of Rocky Springs Church Road. It curves back to the northeast after the intersection of two dirt roads named Northeast 113th and 115th Avenues. where the Four Freedoms Trail crosses from the east side to the west side. The women perform heroically, persevering through hardships including a stampede and a wicked descent down a steep, rocky trail that kills one of them when an iron hook attached to the restraining lines straightens under load and sends the wagon plunging out of control. An Indian attack kills Roy, Sid, and six of the women. When a rainstorm causes flooding and undercuts the riverbank her wagon is parked on, Laurie is trapped inside and drowns.

Like the larvae of various fly families, including the family Tephritidae, the larvae of typical piophilids are notorious for jumping or "skipping", especially in their final instar. The larvae accomplish their jumps by bending over, grabbing onto the rears of their own bodies with their mouth hooks, and tensing their muscles in a manner that increases the pressure on their own blood and internal organs. A lateral release is a surgical procedure to release tight capsular structures (lateral retinaculum) on the outer aspect (lateral aspect) of the kneecap (patella). This is usually performed because of knee pain related to the kneecap being pulled over to the outer (lateral) side and not being able to run properly in the centre of the groove of the femur bone as the knee bends and straightens. After a period of living and working for Al, Jimmy's life straightens up and he confesses to his crimes. Al agrees to accompany Jimmy back home to turn himself in.

SH-152 in Caddo County SH-152 begins at the Texas state line in Roger Mills County. It runs just north of the county line, crossing State Highway 30, and continues east until it meets SH-6's northern terminus, where it turns toward the southeast, entering Beckham County. It straightens out to head through Sayre running east-west, where it meets both U.S. Highway 283 and Interstate 40. Six miles later it crosses State Highway 34 and six miles (10 km) after that it meets SH-6 again. SH-152 then crosses into Washita County and intersects State Highway 44 and 42.

The trajectory doesn't last though, as it curves slightly to the southeast before the intersection with Rackley Road, and then straightens out to the east again before intersecting with Endsley Road, only to turn slightly to the northeast, and pass a small industrial park.

Pennsylvania Route 955 (designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as SR 0955) is a state highway that runs between Pennsylvania Route 5 in Lawrence Park and U.S. Route 20 in Harborcreek Township. Route 955 continues to travel away from Route 5 as Iroquois Avenue in a diagonal until it reaches Nagle Road, where it straightens out and runs parallel to US 20. The highway stays parallel until US 20 makes a sharp left turn and intersects with Route 955\. With the umbrella in danger from the traffic, the objects attempt to protect him from oncoming cars: a construction sign lights up to redirect an oncoming vehicle, a gurgling drain pipe spews water to push him out of the way, another construction sign falls on him to fling him away from another car, and a drain blasts him into the air, but he is hit by a truck, visibly upsetting the objects that have tried to help him. Battered and bruised, the umbrella is found by his owner who straightens him out just as the owner of the red umbrella approaches, reuniting the two of them. The objects of the city silently celebrate their reunion as the umbrellas' owners sit down together at a local café, allowing the two umbrellas to be together after all.

At the interchange with Mexican Federal Highway 180 south of Tihuatlán, the 132D designation ends, and traffic continues straight on Mexican Federal Highway 130D bound for Tuxpan.

Yumi Fukuzawa (Honoka Miki) has been attending Lillian Girls' Academy, a Catholic high school, for about six months when one day, while praying in front of the Virgin Mary statue near the school entrance, she is approached by second-year student Sachiko Ogasawara (Haru) who straightens Yumi's uniform neckerchief. In the split snatch, the lifter lifts the bar as high as possible and pulls themselves under the bar similar to the squat snatch but in the split snatch the lifter "splits" his legs, placing one foot in front of them and one behind, allowing themselves to receive the bar lower as in the squat snatch. The split snatch has become much less common with the increased popularity of the squat snatch but is occasionally performed by some lifters.

The two interstates head west together through southern Council Bluffs for on separate carriageways. Just before I-80 crosses the Missouri River into Nebraska, I-29 immediately turns to the north. Two miles (3.2 km) to the north is a modified Y interchange with US 6 and the eastern end of I-480. North of Council Bluffs, I-29 passes the eastern terminus of I-680 near Crescent. I-29 travels north for before intersecting with the western terminus of I-880 near Loveland. I-29 continues north for to Missouri Valley, where it intersects US 30\. North of Missouri Valley, the interstate turns to the northwest towards Modale and then straightens out again south of Mondamin, where I-29 meets the western end of Iowa 127\. From Mondamin, it travels north for to the Iowa 175 interchange at Onawa, passing Little Sioux and Blencoe.

10th Avenue in the vicinity of Barangay 91 in Grace Park East 10th Avenue is a national road classified by the Department of Public Works and Highways as a tertiary road. The road runs for from its western terminus at the intersection of M. Hizon Street and the Philippine National Railways line in Grace Park West to its eastern terminus at Kamantigue Street in Grace Park East close to Andres Bonifacio Avenue at the city's border with Quezon City's Balingasa and Pag-Ibig sa Nayon villages in Balintawak. The avenue is divided into two segments by Rizal Avenue which also serves as the dividing line between Grace Park West and Grace Park East. At its western segment, 10th Avenue begins just east of the 10th Avenue railway station in Barangay 64 and curves slightly to the north before the intersection with Vibora Street and straightens out as it crosses several streets towards Rizal Avenue.

Jaws also has an uncanny ability to survive any misfortune seemingly unscathed and come back to challenge Bond again. In The Spy Who Loved Me, Jaws survives an Egyptian structure's collapse on top of him, being hit by a van, being thrown from a rapidly moving train, sitting in the passenger seat of a car which veers off a cliff in Sardinia and lands in a hut below (to the owner's dismay), a battle underwater with a shark and the destruction of Stromberg's lair. In Moonraker, he survives falling several thousand feet after accidentally disabling his own parachute (he falls through a circus tent and lands in the trapeze net), a crash through a building inside a runaway cable car (where he meets Dolly) and going over Iguazu Falls. After each of these incidents (except the last), he always picks himself up, dusts off his jacket, straightens his tie (in much the same way as Bond himself) and nonchalantly walks away.

As the second part of the draw, assuming that the student is right-handed, the elbow of the gun arm swings in an arc directly to the left to a point as close to the center-line of the body as it can get, and there presses into the stomach. While the elbow is moving to the left, the three bottom fingers wrap around the gun butt, and the thumb wraps around the back-strap of the gun and locks against the uppermost of the bottom three fingers; the gun now being firmly grasped in the hand, and if the move has been made correctly, the gun barrel now makes a straight line with the forearm. As the elbow continues to move to the left, the index finger inserts itself into the trigger guard and comes to rest against the trigger. As the final step before the elbow completes its move to the left, the wrist straightens up and locks rigidly.

The road continues on this trajectory thanks to a 2007 FDOT construction project, but eventually straightens before approaching the northern terminus of State Road 883 (former US 331/SR 83) in Owl's Head. From that point it runs along the eastern edge of Eglin Air Force Base, which includes the Eglin Wildlife Management Area. This territory ends across the street from the intersection of Edgewood Circle. After the intersection with Indian Creek Ranch Road, US 331/SR 83 makes a slight northwest curve to meet the southern end of County Road 278 (Coy Burgess Loop). The road runs straight north from there and becomes a divided highway as it approaches the north end of CR 278 just south of Interstate 10 at Exit 85 in DeFuniak Springs. Within the city, US 331/SR 83 remains a divided highway running in the same trajectory, where the only intersection of any level of importance is CR 280(Bob Sikes Road).

Hammond looks up and turns his head from side to side, as if listening, and then straightens up confidently, saying “Ah yes, my address to Congress.” A shaken Pendie tells Beek what has happened. “There was something in the room that made me shiver.” She reminds Beek that from the time of the accident they both felt that the President was really two men but she just became aware of a third being. She asks, “What if God sent the Angel Gabriel to do for Judd Hammond what he did for Daniel?” Beek says he thought that Gabriel was a messenger of wrath, and she replies that to some he was a messenger of revelations. “Hmmmm,” Beek muses, “Gabriel over the White House.” In his office, Hammond looks out the window into the dark, to the empty sidewalk along Pennsylvania Avenue.

If a navigator knows how long the ship has sailed on the erroneous course, he can calculate its current distance from its intended course, and estimate how long it must sail back on a new bearing until it recovers its old course. In the Corsica-to-Genoa example, there is an implied triangle ACD, with one side given (AC = 70 miles on actual NW course), a 45° angle at A (angle of difference between actual course NW and intended course N) and another angle of 90° at C (angle of difference between actual course NW and return course NE). The challenge to the navigator is to find how long one must sail on the NE return course (the length of side CD, what is called the ritorno) and how far one has advanced on the intended course by the time one straightens out (the length of the hypotenuse AD, or what is called the total avanzo). This is elementary trigonometry, solving for two sides given one side (70) and two angles (45° and 90°).

He took 60 wickets for Derbyshire but with one five wicket over. Although facing strong competition from bowlers such as Brian Statham and Fred Trueman, Rhodes might have expected to play many more Tests. But doubts about the legality of his bowling action emerged, and in the 1960 season, playing for Derbyshire against the South Africans, he was "called" for throwing – bowling the ball with a bent arm that straightens in the delivery – by the umpire and former Test batsman, Paul Gibb. Later in the 1960 season, he was no-balled again by Gibb, and by Syd Buller. He took 78 first-class wickets in the season and took two five wicket innings. Rhodes was then subjected to a long and detailed examination of his action by MCC committees; he was eventually cleared in 1968 when it was declared that he had a "hyper-extended arm". But by then, his Test career was long gone, although he had continued to bowl successfully for Derbyshire across the 1960s. In the 1961 season he topped Derbyshire's bowling with 101 and took six five wicket innings.

After two years' marriage the Harwells are famously still devoted to one another, and when she is found dead at their weekend cottage in the country Wimsey is asked to help interview the distraught husband, and becomes involved with the investigation. (He is also asked to undertake sensitive diplomatic duties connected with the problematic behaviour of the new king, and as the 1936 abdication crisis looms, he gloomily predicts the coming war with Hitler's Germany.) Suspicion falls on a writer known to have been in love with Mrs Harwell, and a talented but bohemian painter who had been working on portraits of both Harriet and the murdered woman. Two men who knew Mrs Harwell's father in prison, and who have been blackmailing him with threats to harm her, are also suspected. Meanwhile, Harriet straightens out her domestic situation, learning how to fulfill her new role whilst keeping her own identity, and finds a practical solution to allow Wimsey's devoted manservant Bunter to marry without having to leave the household.
