SR 262 then passes through a four-way stop in Cofield Corner with Salem Ridge Road headed north east, and Palmer Road headed south.
East of the park, NY 436 straightens out and takes an easterly alignment across open, cultivated fields to an intersection west of the Portage hamlet of Oakland, where the road meets the western terminus of NY 70\. From here, NY 436 curves to the northeast for a short distance before resuming its eastward routing through the small hamlet of Oakland and into the town of Nunda. Just east of Oakland is the village of Nunda, which NY 436 enters as Portage Road. It proceeds eastward into the village center, where it connects to NY 408, the village's main north–south highway.
Continuing to curve to the east and move away from the southwestern portion of the county it crosses over the Steinhatchee River, but then starts to curve more northerly again, and even to the northwest before it approaches the western terminus of CR 360. The road curves back to the northeast and finally straightens out as it enters the Town of Mayo and becomes Fletcher Avenue. One other county road terminates at SR 51 in the town, specifically CR 355 which continues west as Pine Street. The much more important intersection is at the center of town which happens to be U.S. Route 27(West Main Street and East Man Street).
County Route 61 is unsigned Waverly Avenue, a mainly two-lane road that runs north and south along the Islip–Brookhaven town line until the town line makes a sharp left along the Greenport Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. ;Route description CR 61 begins at CR 19, in the town of Brookhaven where that section of Waverly Avenue becomes Patchogue–Holbrook Road, and Log Road becomes a dead end street. "And it will not be hard for a man with a normal amount of imagination to put himself in the place of his ancestors and see the Stony Clove transformed into the very gates of Hell." From the south, via Phoenicia, the approach up Stony Clove has less drama, since Hunter and Plateau are not visible until the notch is considerably closer. However, it offers much sylvan scenery, winding along Stony Clove Creek as it gradually gets higher and higher. Finally, at the Devil's Tombstone public campground it straightens out and the notch becomes apparent as it sweeps by Notch Pond and up to the height of land.
Pennsylvania Route 955 (designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as SR 0955) is a state highway that runs between Pennsylvania Route 5 in Lawrence Park and U.S. Route 20 in Harborcreek Township. Route 955 continues to travel away from Route 5 as Iroquois Avenue in a diagonal until it reaches Nagle Road, where it straightens out and runs parallel to US 20. The highway stays parallel until US 20 makes a sharp left turn and intersects with Route 955\. The route was first signed in 1928 and widened from Route 5 to an intersection with Nagle Road with a grassy median between 1950 and 1958.
As it straightens out again it crosses the Calhoun-Jackson County Line. The route continues to run primarily through forestland, although farmland exists north of the county line, then again north of Bone Yard Road, and again at a point where the road briefly curves to the northwest. Past the intersection with Raylene Road, the route turns more northerly again as it passes by a smaller parcel of private property lined with pine trees in the front yard. The first moderate intersection over the county line is another dual termini, this time of County Roads 278 & 69A, both of which are named Birchwood Road and apparently shared in a concurrency with County Road 280.
About south of Boiceville, the highway crosses Traver Hollow Brook by way of a bridge that leads the road to the lower slopes of Samuels Point, where houses begin to appear in the woods on the western side of the road. NY 28A closely follows the base of the hill, winding back and forth as it heads southward toward the hamlet of West Shokan. NY 28A east of West Shokan, in New York City watershed land After of continuous curves, the road straightens out just north of West Shokan, where it crosses the Bushkill. Immediately beyond the creek is an intersection with Watson Hollow Road (CR 42) and the center of West Shokan.
Route 37 then carries the trail to the hamlet of Rooseveltown in the town of Massena, where the Seaway Trail ends just shy of the Franklin County line. Travelers finding themselves at the end of the trail can cross the border into Canada on the Seaway International Bridge, traversing a thin wedge of Quebec before ending up in Cornwall, Ontario. This is the point at which New York's northern border straightens out and proceeds due east (along the 45th parallel north) rather than following the St. Lawrence River, which cuts through Quebec. Attractions along this northeasternmost segment of the Seaway Trail include Singer Castle, the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, the Eisenhower Locks on the river near Massena, and a few more historic lighthouses.
The seventh plate has a river god above a 34 line Latin poem by Edward Benlowes, with another cherub in the sky above, dressed as an American Indian and leading with an ostrich. Hollar's panorama was preceded by the Visscher panorama of 1616, which straightens out the river so buildings on each bank are displayed in a line, and John Norden's Civitas Londini of 1600, both of which are composite drawings made from a variety of different viewpoints. Hollar published another panorama of London and Westminster in 1666, showing views of the city from Lambeth "before" and "after" Great Fire of London. Two of Hollar's preliminary sketches were sold at Sotheby's in 1931, and are now held by the Yale Center for British Art.
A road tunnel, opened in Oct 2004, bypasses the village, considerably reducing the through-traffic and sparing travellers the long wait at grade level crossing of the Bruenigbahn in the village center. Next, just a few hundred meters after the Giswil tunnel comes the Zollhouse tunnel, a 417-m Cut-and-cover long stretch that straightens out a narrow section of road next to the Sarnen Lake (due to open in mid-2010). A few hundred meters further comes the portal to the next bypass tunnel, that of Sachseln, which, with its just over length, is one of the longer single bore road tunnels in Switzerland. After the tunnel is Sarnen, where the road is expanded to a 4 lane divided highway.
When you have his kind of [criminal] record, his kind of history — the chance of getting a job was nil." Without the plea deal, Street would have faced up to 20 years in jail. William Street's impersonations started at least as far back as 1970 (posing as a Time magazine reporter) and other false identities he assumed included those of a Houston Oilers wide receiver, an all-star football player from the University of Michigan, a physician at Henry Ford Hospital (in 1973), attorneys (1979 and 1980) and as a first-year medical student at Yale University. Staff at the Detroit Human Rights Department where he posed as an attorney volunteer found him skillful enough that "if he ever straightens out, we wouldn't mind having him back.

Still just to the north of Little Cottonwood Creek, Vine Street curves a short distance south on an S-curve but then straightens out and heads straight east (away from the creek) until its terminus at State Route 152. Wheeler Historic Farm is just across Little Cottonwood Creek from Vine Street in the area near the S-curve, Woodstock Elementary School is on the north side at 1300 East, and Vine Street also crosses the Jordan and Salt Lake Canal a few blocks west of its terminus. The only commercial areas along this part of Vine Street are at 900 East, 1300 East, and near the eastern terminus. Traffic continuing further east can use Big Cottonwood Road (6200 South, previously part of State Route 152) or Interstate 215, both a short distance south on Highland Drive (the southern extension of modern State Route 152).
The two interstates head west together through southern Council Bluffs for on separate carriageways. Just before I-80 crosses the Missouri River into Nebraska, I-29 immediately turns to the north. If a navigator knows how long the ship has sailed on the erroneous course, he can calculate its current distance from its intended course, and estimate how long it must sail back on a new bearing until it recovers its old course. In the Corsica-to-Genoa example, there is an implied triangle ACD, with one side given (AC = 70 miles on actual NW course), a 45° angle at A (angle of difference between actual course NW and intended course N) and another angle of 90° at C (angle of difference between actual course NW and return course NE). The challenge to the navigator is to find how long one must sail on the NE return course (the length of side CD, what is called the ritorno) and how far one has advanced on the intended course by the time one straightens out (the length of the hypotenuse AD, or what is called the total avanzo). This is elementary trigonometry, solving for two sides given one side (70) and two angles (45° and 90°).

Suspicion falls on a writer known to have been in love with Mrs Harwell, and a talented but bohemian painter who had been working on portraits of both Harriet and the murdered woman. Two men who knew Mrs Harwell's father in prison, and who have been blackmailing him with threats to harm her, are also suspected.
