So before he and Arthur Hiller collaborated on "Plaza Suite," they made this uproarious fish-out-of-water comedy in which George Kellerman (Jack Lemmon) and wife Gwen (Sandy Dennis), visiting the city for a job interview, are subjected to a parade of indignities — lost luggage, hotel reservation errors, a mugging, a kidnapping, and transit, sanitation and taxi strikes — that make them long for their Ohio home.

Apparently after trying to arrange corporate sponsorships for the team, the superfan traveled to Rio to get the message out about "Team Little R." Upon arriving in Rio, he tweeted about the mugging of Ryan Lochte saying "Let's end inequality and violence"—well, it was with good intentions... He also employed the Trumpian hashtag #ManyPeopleAreSaying, but used it with heart: "#ManyPeopleAreSaying refugees don't contribute anything great to their host countries" he wrote.

This is the only instance of heart in the show, a scene of real physical pain and confusion, and Close plays it to the hilt, but not hysterically, because she has something to hold on to as an actress, a reprieve from the endless mugging and grandstanding, which we know is just another form of self-loathing, dressed up in drag and played to the balcony, where the "boys" sit worshipping every man-generated blow to the heart, every mascara-stained moment. ♦
