"Qu'est-ce Que C'est Que Ça" is a cosmic indie kaleidoscope of nervous energy, with parts leaping out at you in all directions; "Guess I Must Have Been In Love With Myself" is vintage Shelley, teetering on the edges of straight rock with swooping psychedelic production, it also veers close enough to "You Keep Me Hangin' On" in the chorus to have made Holland–Dozier–Holland's lawyers twitchy.

And when she brings her songs to their big moments — she does excel at those that are meant to be acted as well as sung, like Stephen Sondheim's "Being Alive" — the movie delivers a montage assembled from the views of multiple cameras, one swooping in on Ms. Streisand, another pulling back, another fixed in close-up, another taking in the band, finally settling on a shot of an understandably ecstatic audience.

The adult birds, a couple, watch me every day as I take my morning walk, as likely as not to be holding a book as I stroll, and I watch them every day from my window as they take their afternoon flights, soaring and gliding in the thermals, wingtip feathers splayed, swooping down to catch a rodent or a discarded bit of sandwich or a plastic T-Rex.

But throughout the album they roll and rush through a comparable slipstream with its own singular sense of rhythm — always gliding or tumbling or cascading toward some distant, unspecified destination on the horizon — and its own sound too, shiny and multifaceted and angular, stacking several layers of blocky, percussive guitar chords and high, spiky guitar noodling and twanged rubbery bass around the swooping aerial contours of her singing.

Also on display are a swooping iron-and-leather deck chair she created for Casa Valéria Cirell, the rustic shingle-walled home she built for a professor and his family in a tropical suburb of São Paulo in 22, a mahogany Zig-Zag armchair with a fuzzy animal-hide seat by Estúdio de Arte e Arquitetura Palma and a compact movable wooden chair she designed for the Espírito Santo do Cerrado Church in southeastern Brazil.

If central Paris were a face, my route on Days 5 and 6 would look like a frilly ruff collar, swooping back and forth across the city's southern boundary.

A to-scale (ish) mastodon skeleton with musical ribs; a 2250-foot-high laser-beam harp in a room full of fog; Tales from the Crypt pinball (which you can play gratis) in the arcade; a teeny diorama depicting an old Western ranch powered by giant hamsters; a planetarium-like dome adorned with eyeballs as big as dinner plates; snow-white owls swooping through the enchanted woods; a board game in the daughter's room of the house based on the early '2000s teen soap The OC. In fact, all the ephemera in the house is precisely selected and manages to fit without trying too hard, from '00052s, '80s, and '90s toys, games, and books, sourced at thrift shops and online, to the rumpled bedspread in the parents' dark, bohemian bedroom that doubles as the dad's sound studio, to the dining room wallpaper, which provides visual clues as to the family's whereabouts in time and space.
