Each round of I Am a Singer had seven singers (or eight in some weeks) who performed for a 500-member studio audience each week, whom play a role on deciding the results for the singers. The order that they performed was determined through ballot or based on prior performances, depending on each week. Each audience member then cast votes for the top three singers of their preference, and these votes were tabulated to determine each singer's placement for the night. Since season 7, with the implementation of Electronic voting (which was conducted thrice throughout the show), each scores accounted a 50% weightage towards final results.

The series returned to Channel U after an eight-year hiatus. Unlike the first two seasons where it involve 24 contestants (12 per gender), the series saw its reduction of acts to 12 (six per gender), similar to the number of contestants seen in the third and fourth season of Campus SuperStar. For the first time, the finals were held on the MediaCorp Studios instead of Singapore Indoor Stadium. The season also saw a change of format of voting, which are now limited to Toggle Now app and carries a 25% weightage, instead of 30%, while also the first time, the judges scores, in replacement of CD sales, contributed towards the scores in the finale.

Performances of under-19 cricketers in under-19 / under-17 / under-15 level tournaments in the CASTROL Year are taken into account, as also performances in the Ranji Trophy by cricketers from this age-group. Maximum weightage is given to cricketers who have represented India in international junior-level tournaments like the Under-19 World Cup / Asia Cup or have been part of the India 'A' team on overseas tours. Performances are scrutinized and a list of 15 players is sent to a panel of judges who have been associated with junior cricket. They are asked to recommend five nominees for the award and then pick one from among the five whom they feel deserves the award the most.

Sheikh studied history at the Delhi University between 1962 and 1965, and received her Master of Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1971. She was influenced by artists such as Kanwal Krishna, Devayani Krishna, and K.G. Subramanyan, and attributes the older Santiniketan experiment, Baroda's weightage to art history, and her earlier education in history as major influences. Sheikh who originally trained in Western-style oil painting and later transitioned to a self-taught miniature painter due to her interests in historical traditions of painting in Asia. She has also stated to be influenced by pre-modern Rajput and Mughal court paintings, especially traditional tempera paintings like Pichhwai and Thangka paintings.

At the end of each term Summative Assessment of each paper is done in the traditional examination format where the progress of each student is assessed by that subject's teacher and the progress report card is prepared on the guidelines of C.B.S.E and the finally prepared progress card is sent to the parents/guardians. At the end of each academic year, a traditional examination is held where 50% weightage is given to the combined marks in the various examinations held throughout the year which is combined with the marks gained in the final examination which is prepared using the CGPA procedure. The school will have 265 working days (inclusive of Sundays, Holi and other official holidays) in one year and 100 days of vacation. In one academic session there will be two semesters and one final examination.
