Key provisions of the Arms Legislation Bill include creating a national gun registry; strengthening the licensing regime to filter out "high risk" people and behaviour; creating an advisory group consisting of members of both the firearms and non-firearms communities; strengthening regulation over the importation, distribution, and manufacture of firearms and components; and introducing new offences and penalties. The Bill also amends several existing legislation including the Arms Act 1983, the Extradition Act 1999, the Intelligence and Security Act 2017, and the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1992. The Bill also reduces firearms licences from ten to five years. It also toughens penalties with people possessing a gun without a licence facing up to one year in prison or a NZ$15,000 fine, and people selling a gun to an unlicensed person facing a two year jail sentence or a $20,000 fine.

By contrast, in conventional high-heat cooking, such as oven roasting or grilling, the food is exposed to heat levels that are much higher than the desired internal cooking temperature, and it must be removed from the high heat prior to reaching the desired cooking temperature. If the food is removed from the heat too late, it becomes overcooked, and if it is removed too early, it is undercooked. The use of temperatures much lower than those used for conventional cooking is an essential feature of sous vide, resulting in much higher succulence at these lower temperatures, as cell walls in plant-based food do not burst. In the case of meat cooking, tough collagen in connective tissue can be hydrolysed into gelatin, without heating the meat's proteins high enough that they denature to a degree that the texture toughens and moisture is wrung out of the meat.

In Lamella/Lamina (1983), a sculptural installation of 15 fragile columns, Lynn used architectural drawing paper processed to create texture, the work itself being installed at Anzart in Hobart in response to threatened rain forest on the Franklin River. The artist said that the columns were, amongst other things, 'a metaphor for vulnerability, sensitivity, and how one toughens up as one gets older ... Lamella/Lamina reflects the layering and interconnectedness, of nature and culture, of skin surface, mind and the political.' Gates of the Goddess – a southern crossing attended by the Goddess (1986, first shown at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and now in the collection of the Auckland Art Gallery) consists of three large panels, two of which form a passageway for the viewer and the third being a focal point with the form of the goddess. The work brings together many of Lynn's concerns particularly healing the abject as in the 1982 work Mantle.
