With the exception of a few ill-considered and poorly regarded attempts at 3D, Fire Pro has remained game of 2D sprites and timing-based grappling—rather than the more button-mashing approach taken by most pro wrestling games—coupled with a staggeringly robust editor with thousands of moves, and the ability to smudge and alter those tiny pixels in minute ways.

Here, I feel like an aging extra in this matrimonial farce, and after a few vodka and Sprites to make the cumbia more tolerable, the lines quickly blur: I can't quite tell whether the guy passed out on the sofa, firmly clutching a glass, is pseudo wasted or really wasted, or whether Bride One is happier with or without Nico, or just loves having her photo taken.

And if you saw a bunch of little white-armored sprites standing stock-still behind an Imperial officer, like those cut-outs of Rebel troops at the end of A New Hope, you could pretend it was a squad of Imperial troops awaiting orders from their CO, and not just a bunch of simple enemies waiting for you enter their detection radius so they could start going through the motions of trying to kill you.

Scenes from Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro leap from the silver screen into three dimensions, thanks to a series of demos made by UK designer Nick Pittom of Fire Panda and distributed by We Are VR.T he experiences include a stunning view of the Howl's titular castle strolling through a mountainside landscape, a walk among the soot sprites working in Kamaji's boiler room in Spirited Away, and an atmospheric meeting with Totoro in the forest before he boards the cat bus.
