Marmaduke Stephenson had been a ploughman in Yorkshire in England in 1655, when (as he wrote), "as I walked after the plough, I was filled with the love and presence of the living God, which did ravish my heart". Kekayas on Kaurava side is mentioned at many places (5-19,30,198), (6,16) The five Kekaya brothers, (probably those who sided with Duryodhana) were equated with the five Asuras viz Ayahsira, Aswasira, Aysanku, Gaganamurdhan, and Vegavat. (1,67) Jayadratha (the brother-in-law of Duryodhana), assisted by the Kekayas, endeavoured to ravish Draupadi (the wife of Pandavas) (11,22) The five royal brothers, the princes of Kekaya, hastened to Duryodhana with an Akshauhini of troops, and gladdened his heart. (5,19). Kekayas were mentioned along with the Vasatis, the Salwakas, the Amvashthas, and the Trigartas as allies of Duryodhana at (5,30). The Kekayas on the Kaurava side marched under Drona along with Vinda and Anuvinda, both of Avanti and the Vahlikas. (5,198).

Varlt, Walker, Marfy, Pague Lo Sige, and several other agents disguise themselves as a team of licensed traders and make their way to the trade town of Xomatl. Marfy locates Marva on the estate of a minor lord and she, Walker, and Lo Sige extract Marva from that estate, carrying her, wrapped in vines covered with fragrant flowers, off the estate during a ceremony in which guests are expected to ravish and plunder the estate's formal garden. The person driving the getaway van then takes the four of them to an isolated house, where they are rendered unconscious. When they wake up they discover that they have been taken to the lifeless Earth and abandoned to starve to death.

The speaker is like a usurped town during a siege, imprisoned by the enemy (Satan and sin), but is awaiting God to use his force and to liberate him. George Herman notes that this expected role of the "three- person'd God" brings together the poem with the image of a bigger force needed for redemption: Herman proposes that "God the Father needs to break rather than knock at the heart, God the Holy Ghost to blow rather than breathe, and God the Son to burn rather than shine on the 'heart-town-woman.'"qtd. in Stringer and Parrish 2005, p. 243. The amorous discourse surfaces heavily in the sestet of the poem, asserted by words and phrases such as: dearly I love you, loved, bethroth'd, divorce me, untie or break that knot, enthrall me, chaste, ravish.

On July 26, 1849, in the city of Auburn, New York, William was indicted for a rape which had occurred at gunpoint. His victim had worked in the Rockefeller household; her name was Ann Vanderbeak. In the 1905 book Memoirs of an American Citizen, Robert Herrick says an improper relationship had been rumoured to exist. The court document reads, "That William A. Rockefeller late of the Town of Moravia in the County of Cayuga, on the first day of May in the year of the Lord Thousand Eight hundred and forty eight, with force and arms at the Town of Moravia in said County, in and upon one Ann Vanderbeak in the Peace of God with the People of the State of New York then and there being, violently did make and assault on her, the said Ann Venderbeak, then and there make violently and against her will feloniously did ravish and carnally know […]".

Satrangi Sasural (international title: 7 Bridges to Cross) is a Hindi-language Indian soap opera, which was broadcast on Zee TV channel from December 2014 to March 2016. The show is an adaption of the Zee Marathi series Honar Sun Me Hya GharchiSatrangi Sasural is estory of love and marriage of Vihaan and Aarushi followed the journey of a beautiful middle-class girl Aarushi, who marries into a wealthy family in Delhi that consists of her husband Vihaan Vatsal and her seven mothers-in-law. The show originally starred Ravish Desai and Mugdha Chaphekar, The chemistry between the leads was appreciated by the audience however the show changed its timeslot to 6pm from 10pm exiting the prime slot of season one and it led to season two where the protagonist Aarushi was killed in the story. Season two lasted for a few months and the show went off air due to dipping TRP.
