The Southern African sand forest is part of the Maputaland coastal forest mosaic ecoregion.

The black-and-white warbler occupies a broad niche, and is found in a variety of habitats. In its breeding habitat, it prefers mature forest, but will occupy successional and second growth forest. Preferred forest types include deciduous and mixed forest, and this warbler sometimes occupies swampy forest. During migration, this species prefers forest to other land cover types and is frequently found in riparian areas.

The forest transition and historical baselines. The forest area change may follow a pattern suggested by the forest transition (FT) theory, whereby at early stages in its development a country is characterized by high forest cover and low deforestation rates (HFLD countries). Sundance in the Uinta National Forest Uinta National Forest is a national forest located in north central Utah, USA. It was originally part of the Uinta Forest Reserve, created by Grover Cleveland on 2 February 1897. The name is derived from the Ute word Yoov-we-teuh which means pine forest. Because of changes to the boundaries over the years, the Uinta Mountains are now located in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

The crested servaline genet occurs in southern Nigeria from the Niger Delta east into Cameroon to the Sanaga River. It inhabits scrub, low tangled vegetation and bare ground below trees in tall deciduous forest. Occasionally it has also been recorded in secondary and montane forest. In Nigeria it is associated with primary dry forest, bush–mango plantations inside the forest, and to a lesser extent to secondary dry forest and primary flooded forest.

Area of the Forest Inspectorate is characterized by extensive forest coverage reaching up to 38%. The main site type of forest is a coniferous sites (78%), first of all fresh coniferous forest and fresh mixed coniferous forest. The most common species is Pinus sylvestris, Betula pendula, Alnus glutinosa and also Larix decidua, Picea abies, Fagus silvatica, Fraxinus excelsior, Carpinus betulus, Alnus incana, Populus tremula, Tilia cordata. This reduced care is most likely due to reduced certainty of paternity in these groups. Habitat disturbance affects siamang group composition; it is varied in age-sex structure between intact forest and burnt, regrown forest. The burnt, regrown forest population contained more adult and subadults than the intact forest population, which had more infants, small juveniles, and large juveniles. Infant survival rates in burnt, regrown forest groups are lower than in intact forest groups.

The forest forms part of the wider Abernethy National Nature Reserve. There is approximately 4,000 hectares of forest within the reserve, and just under half of this is native caledonian pine forest. Abernethy Forest is one of the largest remaining remnant of caledonian pine forest in Scotland. The forest is home to a variety of birds and mammals, including Scottish crossbill, red squirrel, wildcat, red deer, black grouse, crested tit and osprey.

Long Pine National Forest was established as the Long Pine Forest Reserve in Montana on September 24, 1906 with . It became a National Forest on March 4, 1907. On July 1, 1908 it was absorbed by Sioux National Forest and the name was discontinued. The forest today comprises the Long Pines unit of the Sioux Ranger District of Custer National Forest, in Carter County, Montana with 320 acres in Harding County, South Dakota.

Vernon National Forest was established as the Vernon Forest Reserve by the U.S. Forest Service in Utah on April 24, 1906 with in the northwestern part of the state near the town of Vernon. It became a National Forest on March 4, 1907. On July 1, 1908 Vernon and Payson National Forests and part of Fillmore were combined to create Nebo National Forest. The lands presently managed under the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

Marquette National Forest was established by the U.S. Forest Service in Chippewa County, Michigan on February 10, 1909 with . On July 1, 1915 the entire forest was transferred to Michigan National Forest and the name was discontinued. On February 12, 1931 Marquette was re-established in Chippewa and Mackinac counties with , changing its name back from Michigan. On February 9, 1962 the entire forest was transferred to Hiawatha National Forest and the name was discontinued.

Even though some species loss may occur with primary forest removal, a secondary forest can protect the watershed from further erosion and provides habitat. Secondary forests may also buffer edge effects around mature forest fragments and increase connectivity between them. They may also be a source of wood and other forest products. Today most of the forest of the United States, the eastern part of North America and Europe consist of secondary forest.

The Jamaican vireo (Vireo modestus) is a species of bird in the family Vireonidae. It is endemic to Jamaica. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and heavily degraded former forest.

The rufous-capped spinetail (Synallaxis ruficapilla) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found in the southern Atlantic Forest. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and heavily degraded former forest.

The area mostly consists of raised bogs. Forest grows on the islands on the bog. The main types forest are coniferous forests based on spruce and broadleaf forest, based on oak and linden. Birch and aspen appeared as derivative forest from oak and linden.

Nipmuck State Forest is a Connecticut state forest. Its surround Bigelow Hollow State Park in the town of Union and include parcels in Stafford, Ashford, and other towns. The forest is part of a larger network of forest lands making up some in all.

Manuel F. Correllus State Forest is a Massachusetts state forest located on Martha's Vineyard. The forest borders Martha's Vineyard Airport on three sides and is chiefly in the towns of West Tisbury and Edgartown. The forest is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The Weza Forest is also known as the Weza-Ngele Forest and is situated near Harding, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This is a large Mistbelt Forest which has long been exploited for timber. The forest has been fragmented and reduced in size over many decades.

Xuexiang National Forest Park (), is a national forest park in Changting township, Hailin, Heilongjiang, China. The Xuexiang National Forest Park occupies a large area that includes both the China Snow Town and a vast underdeveloped forest preservation area that surrounds the central touristic town.

A post office has been in operation at Forest since 1854. Forest was platted in 1855 when the railroad was extended to that point. The village most likely was named for the fact the original town site was a forest. Forest was incorporated in 1865.

The park's forest is tropical evergreen forest; the largest component is dry dipterocarp forest. Other forest tree types here are dry evergreen and mixed deciduous. Animal species include barking deer, monitor lizards and slow loris. Monkeys and elephants are also found in the park.

Bihar has 3,208 km2 (~3.41%) of Protected Forest Area and 76.30 km 2 of Protected Non-Forest Area. Bihar is one of the states that has taken "considerable" steps to implement the "Scheduled Tribes and Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006".

The Cherokee National Forest is a United States National Forest located in the U.S. states of Tennessee and North Carolina that was created on June 14, 1920. The forest is maintained and managed by the United States Forest Service. It encompasses an estimated area of .

The species inhabits pristine lowland rainforest, secondary forest, forest patches in savanna, and forest along the savanna-forest transition zone. It is probably a common species, but its secretive and fossorial habits make it easy to overlook. Threats to this little known species are unknown.

Korea can be divided largely into three biozones by distribution of plants. The groups are warm-temperate forest, temperate forest and subalpine forest. Considering regional character of Ulleungdo and Jejudo, Korea can divide into five regions. Evergreen broad-leaved trees grow in warm-temperate forest.

Imnaha National Forest was established in Oregon on March 1, 1907 with when the first Wallowa National Forest and Chenismus National Forest were combined. Its lands presently exist as part of Wallowa–Whitman National Forest. It is adjacent to Hells Canyon National Recreation Area.

It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and heavily degraded former forest.

It inhabits humid forest, including degraded forest and forest edges, from sea level up to at least . They are relatively common in suitable habitat, particularly below . The species is sedentary.

In 1954 it was administratively combined with Whitman National Forest to make Wallowa–Whitman National Forest. The Wallowa National Forest is located overwhelmingly in Wallowa County, Oregon, but there are much smaller portions in Union County, Oregon and Nez Perce and Idaho counties in Idaho.

There are only three protected areas established as national parks. The Akagera National Park covers an area of 108,500 ha, Nyungwe National Park has an area of 101,900 ha and Volcanoes National Park has an area of 16,000 ha. In addition the forest reserves are the Gishwati Forest Reserve (700 ha), Mukura Forest Reserve (1600 ha), Busaga Forest Reserve (150 ha) and Buhanga forest and gallery forest in the eastern province of about 160 ha. Nyungwe is the largest remaining tract of forest which contains 200 species of tree as well as orchids and begonias.

The Teakettle Experimental Forest is a part of the Sierra National Forest that is set aside for research into forest ecology. The forest is located east of Fresno, California, between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks. The area is old-growth forest at elevation and consists primarily of mixed-conifer and red fir forest common on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada. The forest was established in the 1930s when California state and federal agencies began exploring how the Central Valley of California's water supply might be increased through management of Sierra Nevada watersheds.

De Forest was born in New York City on October 15, 1848. He was the son of prominent merchant George Beach de Forest Sr. (1806–1865) and Margaret Eliza de Forest (1809–1860). Tagbina has the biggest share of alienable and disposable land with or about 56.51 percent of its land area followed by Hinatuan with or 63.56 percent of its land area. The Britania Group of Islands Of the of forest land, are protection forest, production forest, are non-forest agriculture and are for non-forest mining. As of today, the province still has vast area of remaining old growth and mossy forest.

In 2009 Lund identified more than 50 definitions of forest degradation. Previously to this August 2017 editing, the Wikipedia page Forest degradation was redirected to Secondary forest, a forest which has re-grown after a timber harvest. This is a confusion: a secondary forest may be perfectly healthy, and a primary forest may be suffering degradation. The term "permanently" also poses some difficulties: a forest affected by a mild seasonal drought may experience a loss of its biological wealth, but if it is seasonally reversed, then it is not considered degradation.

Apache National Forest was established by the U.S. Forest Service in Arizona and New Mexico on July 1, 1908, with from portions of Black Mesa National Forest. In 1974 the entire forest was administratively combined with Sitgreaves National Forest to create Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. The New Mexico section is now administered by the Gila National Forest. The area of the former Apache National Forest covers most of Greenlee County, Arizona (excepting the southernmost part of the county), southern Apache County, Arizona, and part of western Catron County, New Mexico.

The sanctuary is a part of the mangrove wetland in Andhra Pradesh and are located in the coastal plain of Krishna delta. The Krishna mangroves lie between 15° 2' N and 15° 55' N in latitude and 80° 42'- 81° 01' E in longitude spread across Krishna and Guntur districts of Andhra Pradesh. It includes Sorlagondi Reserve Forest, Nachugunta Reserve Forest, Yelichetladibba Reserve Forest, Kottapalem Reserve Forest, Molagunta Reserve Forest, Adavuladivi Reserve Forest and Lankivanidibba Reserve Forest. They occupy the islands of the delta and the adjacent mainlands of Krishna and Guntur Districts.

The land owned by Natural Resources Wales in Snowdonia National Park amounts to just over 12%, and of the four forest areas, the Gwydir Forest is probably the most popular based on visitor numbers. In 1937 Gwydir was designated a National Forest Park, and since 1993 the heartland of the forest has been accorded the special status of Forest Park. Promotion as an attraction has been an integral part of this designation. The forest is very accessible by wide tracks, old miners' paths, and long-established forest walks, a number of which follow waymarked routes.

El Toro Wilderness () is a National Wilderness Preservation System unit located partly within El Yunque National Forest (formerly the Caribbean National Forest) on the island of Puerto Rico. The Brechfa Forest is an area of forest in Carmarthenshire, south Wales. Brechfa Forest is the 'modern' name for part of the ancient Glyn Cothi Forest. From before records began in the 6th century the communities in the 15 villages which encircle Glyn Cothi Forest were managing it to provide employment, building materials, products, and grazing. At various times the forest has been the refuge of Welsh Princes fighting the Norman Invasion, a Royal Hunting Forest, and for two centuries was the 'Texas' of Wales, producing large quantities of oil for lamps.

Crater National Forest was established by the U.S. Forest Service in Oregon on July 1, 1908 with from portions of Cascade, Klamath and, Siskiyou National Forests as well as all of Ashland National Forest. On July 18, 1915 part of Paulina National Forest was added, and on July 9, 1932 the forest's name was changed to Rogue River National Forest.

The Logan Forest Reserve was established by the General Land Office in Utah on May 29, 1903 with . In 1905 federal forests were transferred to the U.S. Forest Service. On May 28, 1906 the forest was combined with other lands to establish Bear River Forest Reserve and the name was discontinued. The lands are presently included in Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

IFCC-KSK IFCC-KSK (Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation, or in Indonesian, Kerjasama Sertifikasi Kehutanan) is the standardising and governing body for the Indonesian Forest Certification Scheme. Unlike the rest of the family, which is more widespread, the spiderhunters are confined to the Oriental zoogeographic region, occurring from India east to The Philippines and from the Himalayas south to Java; they reach their greatest species diversity in the Thai-Malay peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. The spiderhunters are mostly forest birds, occupying a wide range of forest types including true rainforest, dipterocarp forest, swamp forest, bamboo forest, secondary forest, forest edge and other highly degraded forest. In addition several species occur in human-created habitat such as gardens or plantations. Most species are lowland species, but the Whitehead's spiderhunter is more of a montane species.

Waltham Forest was a royal forest that existed from around the time the Forest of Essex was disestablished in the 13th century. After that Forest Law was focused on areas with higher concentrations of woodland than the sparsely wooded Forest of Essex ever had. Forests were legal institutions introduced by the Normans to denote an area where the King or another magnate had the right to keep and hunt deer and make Forest Law. Initially there was a very weak correlation between the extent of the legal forest and what might be termed the 'physical forest', the often wooded Common Land areas where the deer lived.

Like all other members of the family Cheirogaleidae, the gray mouse lemur is nocturnal and arboreal. It inhabits lowland tropical dry forest, sub-arid thorn scrub, gallery forest, spiny forest, eastern littoral forest, dry deciduous forests, semi-humid deciduous, moist lowland forest, transitional forest, and secondary forests or degraded forests (including plantations) all ranging up to above sea level. The species is more common in secondary forest than in primary forest, particularly bush and scrub habitat, where it occupies a "fine branch" niche, restricting the vertical range to fine branches, fine terminal supports, lianas and dense foliage. These lemurs are usually seen on branches less than in diameter.

USFS Ranger Districts by State The Flathead National Forest is bordered by Glacier National Park and Canada to the north, the Lewis and Clark National Forest and Glacier to the east, the Lolo National Forest to the south, and the Kootenai National Forest to the west. The wilderness areas in the forest are the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area, Great Bear Wilderness Area, and Mission Mountains Wilderness Area. Other specially-designated areas in the forest include Flathead Wild and Scenic River, Jewel Basin Hiking Area, and the Coram Experimental Forest. Some of non-federal land are also included in the boundaries drawn for the national forest.

Forest gardens, like other permaculture designs, incorporate processes and relationships that the designers understand to be valuable in natural ecosystems. The terms forest garden and food forest are used interchangeably in the permaculture literature. Numerous permaculturists are proponents of forest gardens, such as Graham Bell, Patrick Whitefield, Dave Jacke, Eric Toensmeier and Geoff Lawton. The Spiegelau Forest Railway (German: Spiegelauer Waldbahn) was a narrow gauge forest railway built for the transportation of logs from the woods around Spiegelau in the Bavarian Forest in southern Germany.

The Ibadan forest of horror, popularly known as Soka, is a ritual killer's den discovered in Soka forest in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The forest of horror was unintentionally discovered on March 22, 2014 by a commercial motorcyclist in the area. Over twenty decomposed human bodies and hundreds of human skulls were found dispersed throughout the forest, and over twenty people were rescued from the forest. Governor of Oyo State Abiola Ajimobi visited the forest after it was unveiled.

As the Grodno Forest was cut down and removed from Grodno, the forest became known as the Perstunsky Forest. The name is associated with the area of Crank, which was the administrative center of the local grand duchy. During 1863. uprising many rebels were stationed in this forest.

There are no facilities in the forest established for outdoor recreation activities, including hiking. Kaniksu National Forest was established on July 1, 1908 from a portion of Priest River National Forest.
