In terms of content, unlikely as Tuồng praised the heroic actions of the noble elites, Chèo also depicts the simple life of rural people, praises the noble qualities of man. Dick is a 1999 American comedy film directed by Andrew Fleming from a script he wrote with Sheryl Longin. It is a comic reimagining of the Watergate scandal which ended the presidency of Richard ("Tricky Dick") Nixon and features several cast members from Saturday Night Live and The Kids in the Hall. Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams star as Betsy and Arlene, two warm- hearted but unworldly 15-year-old girls who are best friends, and who, through various arbitrary circumstances, become the legendary "Deep Throat" figure partly responsible for bringing down Nixon's presidency. Dan Hedaya plays Nixon.
A regular at the Nag's Head pub, and old friend of Del Boy, Trigger is a road sweeper, and also engages in trading and petty thefts (though this status as a small-time thief is soon phased out of the character's development). Trigger speaks in a slow, monotone voice, and is very simple-minded, although affable and warm-hearted. Trigger did not know his father, saying "he died a couple of years before I was born", when Rodney asks of his whereabouts in the episode "Ashes to Ashes". He was brought up by his grandparents, with his grandfather having also been a roadsweeper.
Meanwhile, Easter works from the inside to gain control of the jury – being warm-hearted, sympathetic and helpful to jurors who might be won over, and rather ruthless to those who prove impervious to his efforts. Eventually, he becomes jury foreman after the previous one falls ill (resulting from Nicholas spiking his coffee). He also manages to hoodwink and repeatedly manipulate the judge. Meanwhile, Marlee Easter's partner/lover acts as his agent on the outside, increasingly convincing Fitch that, indeed, Easter is in control of the jury and in a position to deliver any verdict on demand.
Magic is present in those worlds, as are evil wizards, giants, "vampyrs," dwarves, elves, sirens, and two-headed business administrators. Tara's companions in her adventures include her fellow Earthling Fabrice and the friends she makes on OtherWorld: a half-elf called Robin M'angil, the licensed thief in training Caliban Dal Salan, a shapeshifting princess Gloria Daavil nicknamed "Sparrow", and a short-tempered but warm-hearted female dwarf named Fafnir. Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian, who is also the author of other series, has so far written thirteen main Tara Duncan volumes in French. William Rodarmor has translated two of her books into English.
In Australia, the term "good bloke" has a particular nuance that distinguishes a "good bloke" from just any "bloke". For instance, in Richard Walsh's essay "Australia Observed" (1985), Walsh (himself a noted good bloke) notes "The ultimate accolade in Australia is to be a "good bloke", meaning someone who is gregarious, hospitable, generous, warm hearted, and with a good sense of humour. In Australia it availeth a man nothing if he makes himself a fortune and is not a good bloke!" A good bloke is also readily identifiable by his unceasing fidelity to the principles of mateship.
His first calling to adventure travel photography came in 1976, during a four-month trip through Japan, northern India, Nepal and Sikkim. In Nepal, Miglavs was one of the first to be allowed into the Muktinath / Mustang area on the border with Tibet. The warm-hearted people, the immense mountainous landscapes and the monks who taught him about Yoga and Tibetan Buddhism expanded his inner vision of the world. Miglavs went on to photograph and write for publications, including National Geographic, Travel & Leisure, Sunset and National Wildlife, traveling through more than 30 countries over 25 years.
In many respects Mathew was a typical representative of the south of Ireland. Ready and facile of speech, he was gifted with a delightful flow of humour and a strong appreciation of the lighter side of life. An ardent radical and a devout Roman Catholic, he maintained the happiest relations with many who were vehemently opposed to him in religion and politics; on circuit he was always a welcome visitor at the houses of the dignitaries of the Church of England. A man of wide reading and culture, he was a warm-hearted and faithful friend.
The banns are called for the third time for the marriage of Italian Princess Angela Chiaromonte (Helen Hayes) and the husband chosen by her father (Lewis Stone), Ernesto Traversi. Driving home through streets filled with revelers celebrating a saint's feast day, their limousine is rear-ended by a car full of officers, driven by Giovanni Severi (Clark Gable), a handsome army lieutenant. Traversi, the son of a banker, is 31, rather stuffy, preoccupied with business. Angela is a warm-hearted, impulsive, romantic, innocent young woman, who dreams every night of a handsome man she has never met.

Father Ashe described Sister Paschal as "warm-hearted [but] a strict disciplinarian". Upon her arrival, Sister Paschal had to repay debts the school owed for buildings that were constructed prior to her arrival; she organised fund-raising and benefit dinners. Under Sister Paschal's leadership, the school continued to maintain high educational standards despite the rapidly increasing student enrolment. Father Ashe recalled, "students began to converge on St. Catherine High School not only from the immediate environs of Spanish Town but additionally from ever-widening radius of hinterlands" Part of this new growth was the inclusion of a boys' school in 1972.
He received the gold medal for science and literature from the King of Prussia. A genial, warm-hearted man, Tupper's humane instincts prompted him to espouse many reforming movements; he was an early supporter of the Student Volunteer Movement, and did much to promote good relations between Britain and America. He tried to encourage African literature and was also a mechanical inventor in a small way. Critic Kwame Anthony Appiah, however, has used a quote from Martin Tupper's ballad "The Anglo-Saxon Race" 1850 as an example of the predominant understanding of "race" in the nineteenth century.
In the early 1970s, he lived in New York City, where he worked as a studio assistant for Robert Rauschenberg. In 1970, Thompson released his only solo album to date, titled Corky's Debt To His Father, on the Texas Revolution label. The album consists instead of ten lyrically dense but warm-hearted pop songs, in various styles – Dylan-inspired blues-rock, Tex-Mex pop-rock with psychedelic touches, and early country rock not dissimilar to the contemporary work of Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers. Thompson was backed by studio musicians on the album and none of his usual Krayola cohorts appear.
Ed Power of The Telegraph rated the show in Dublin four out of five stars and called it as "a valiant and warm-hearted attempt to connect with their crowd". Reviewing the show in London, Laura Abernethy of Metro rated the show three out of five stars and praised the "ambitious" staging but criticized the set list, noting it "a bit disconnected". A.D. Amorosi of Variety reviewed the show in Philadelphia and called it "epic" and "earthen". Jeffrey B. Remz of Country Standard Time called the show in Boston as it "was far more up to snuff, albeit not perfect".
Mountbatten's faults, according to his biographer Philip Ziegler, like everything else about him, "were on the grandest scale. His vanity though child-like, was monstrous, his ambition unbridled....He sought to rewrite history with cavalier indifference to the facts to magnify his own achievements."Philip Ziegler, Mountbatten (1985) p. 701) however, Ziegler concludes his virtues outweighed the defects: : He was generous and loyal....He was warm-hearted, predisposed to like everyone he met, quick-tempered but never bearing grudges.... His tolerance was extraordinary; his readiness to respect and listen to the views of others was remarkable throughout his life.
He also reported early difficulties with eating and suggested that eating may have represented the first intrusion into the children's extreme aloneness. He noted that the children had no particular health difficulties and that their EEG results were normal. He did, however, observe that f of the 11 children had relatively large heads, and a few were somewhat clumsy in their gait. Recounting his observations of the children's families, Kanner noted the high level of intelligence characterizing parents and relatives, while at the same time asserting that there were few warm-hearted parents among the families he observed.
The language uses various images associated with children's playing and imagination. The nurse is of a jovial and warm-hearted nature, as she allows the children to continue with their games, with no thought for the wider consequences. In his commentary, Sir Geoffrey Keynes wrote that one critic said that "few besides Blake could have written such a successful poem on the delight of being allowed to play a little longer until dusk".William Blake: Songs of Innocence and of Experience, with Introduction and Commentary by Sir Geoffrey Keynes, 1967/87, Oxford University Press, , p. 140.
Rebchuk was initially aligned with the Liberal-Progressive Party at the provincial level, and ran unsuccessfully under its banner in the 1958 election. He crossed to the Progressive Conservative Party in 1969, and unsuccessfully contested Point Douglas under its banner in the 1969 election. Former Cooperative Commonwealth Federation leader Lloyd Stinson once described Rebchuk as "the most experienced man around City Hall and certainly the hardest worker [...] warm- hearted, rambunctious, garrulous and illogical much of the time",Stinson, p. 272. while fellow councillor Bernie Wolfe once said "he has a heart like a hotel and is generous to a fault".
Relief bust of Cooke, on the Omagh Orange Hall Cooke's habits of work would have been impossible without the aid of an iron constitution: he rose at four, needed little sleep, and traveled, spoke, and wrote with incessant energy. In public a dangerous and unsparing (some said an unscrupulous) foe, his private disposition was that of warm-hearted kindness. Relations of personal friendliness between him and his old antagonist, Montgomery, sprang up in their later years. Stern Protestant as he was, none was more prompt to render assistance to a Roman Catholic neighbour in time of need.
She told an interviewer for the official website "the whole cast were so welcoming, they're just warm friendly people who are really good at their craft and the crew and directors are amazing. It was beautiful to work with Danny Raco (who played Leah's brother Alex) as a director, because we have worked alongside each other as actors, so it was really nice to have him directing my first block as Shandi." Tolj described Shandi as being "very direct", "warm hearted" and someone who "is not afraid to say what she thinks". She is a hippy, who comes to town to find her father.
Though Guthrie did not live to see the published work, he had the satisfaction of knowing that the greater part of the work on Erica had been completed. He is buried in the old cemetery attached to St. Thomas's Church in Rondebosch. He was described as being warm-hearted, good-humoured, patient, and unpretentious. The scope of his interests was diverse and ranged from a lecture titled, "The Heat of the Sun in South Africa", in which he pointed out that it must be possible to transform solar energy into mechanical power, to aeronautics, where he was involved in the development of the first aircraft.
Contemporaries recalled Pardoe as warm-hearted and animated, as well as extremely talented. Samuel Carter Hall said of the late author, she was a "fairy-footed, fair- haired, laughing sunny girl" in her youth, but he poked fun at her attempts to appear girlish in middle age, due to a horror of ageing. Early in her career, Pardoe caught the attention of Princess Augusta of Cambridge, who became interested in her work and asked her to dedicate her next work Traits and Traditions of Portugal (1834) to her, which Pardoe obligingly did and it sold rapidly. Poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning praised City of Magyar as "word painting".
Howard McNear starred as Dr. Charles Adams in the radio series, with Milburn Stone portraying Dr. Galen Adams in the television version. In the radio series, "Doc" Adams was initially a self-interested and somewhat dark character with a predilection for constantly attempting to increase his revenue through the procurement of autopsy fees. However, McNear's performances steadily became more warm-hearted and sympathetic. Most notably, this transformation began during (and progressed steadily following) the July 1952 episode "Never Pester Chester", in which a physician with a more compassionate and devoted temperament is essential to the plotline when Chester is near-fatally injured by two trouble-making Texas drovers.
UniSA Magill Campus Murray had a reserved manner, at times giving the impression that he was cold in his outlook. However, this was not the case as Murray was in reality warm-hearted, broad-minded, and generous, always anxious to assist deserving causes so long as it could be done without ostentation. As chancellor of the university for 25 years, he was held in honour and affection by teaching staff and students alike. As a counsel Murray was not a dramatic pleader, but was clear and systematic in his presentation of technical cases, and masterly in the marshalling of his arguments, excelling in equity cases.
I'd > like to keep time with them, without aiming too high, to create a warm- > hearted program. At the beginning of September 2018, Omi, together with Mayuko Wakuda, conducted an exclusive interview with Namie Amuro, one of Japan’s leading pop singers who was planning to end her musical career on September 16, 2018. Historians Margaret Howell and David Carpenter describe her as being "more combative" and "far tougher and more determined" than her husband.; The marriage contract was confirmed in 1235 and Eleanor travelled to England to meet Henry for the first time. The pair were married at Canterbury Cathedral in January 1236, and Eleanor was crowned queen at Westminster shortly afterwards in a lavish ceremony planned by Henry. There was a substantial age gap between the couple – Henry was 28, Eleanor only 12 – but historian Margaret Howell observes that the King "was generous and warm-hearted and prepared to lavish care and affection on his wife".
After the Spy Myung-wol fiasco, public backlash forced Han to go on a three- year hiatus from acting. In late 2014, she made a successful comeback in Birth of a Beauty, where Han played a warm-hearted ajumma who overcomes her husband's infidelity by undergoing a head-to-toe makeover involving plastic surgery and weight loss. This was followed with leading roles in romantic comedies Madame Antoine: The Love Therapist (2016) where she plays a fake fortune teller, and 20th Century Boy and Girl (2017). In 2019, Han starred in SBS drama Big Issue, playing a paparazzi journalist who chases after celebrity scandals.
In 2011, Song's profile rose further when he starred in The Princess' Man, a period drama set in the Joseon Dynasty which drew both high ratings and critical acclaim. In it, he played a nobleman fallen on hard times who betrays his best friend in order to possess the woman he loves and achieve his ambition. This was followed by the popular Reply 1997, a nostalgic cable drama in which Song played a warm-hearted computer genius-turned-politician loosely based on Ahn Cheol-soo, and was part of the show's central love triangle. Song returned to the Joseon era in his next two projects.
Of the film, Ali's daughter Hana felt her father would be happy with Lewins' direction of the film, especially the depiction of Ali's "loving side." The Chicago Tribune said, "At its best, I Am Ali offers something the big-budget biopic Ali could not: casual intimacy." NPR stated, "What distinguishes Lewins' entertaining-if-not-terribly-revelatory film from the many Ali documentaries that have come before is its focus on this most public of personalities as a friend and father." The Guardian called the film "warm hearted and respectful" and a "very watchable tribute" though it felt it might not live up to other films about Ali.
All those who were privileged to work with Nyamweya describe him as a warm-hearted individual, a good friend to all, and morally upright. Despite his high academic and professional standing, nature blessed him with a rare modesty to blend well with all and sundry no matter their status in society. His actions were clear testimony to his expressed firm believe that in any competitive situation there shall be winners and losers and, therefore, once the best man or woman has won an election life must continue. For instance, despite losing to Lawrence George Sagini in the 1961 pre-independence elections, thereafter his relations with Sagini remained cordial.
The Claverings treats what David Skilton calls "Trollope's dominating concern of the eighteen-sixties": the choice of a career, in a broad sense. For a woman, the only possible career is marriage; for a man, it involves the choice of a profession as well as of a spouse. To Michael Sadleir, The Claverings was a precursor of Phineas Finn and Phineas Redux. Lady Ongar rejected Harry's honest love and married for worldly gain, and found misery despite her worldly wealth; in the Phineas novels, Lady Laura Standish chose the wealthy Robert Kennedy over the warm-hearted Finn, and found herself subjected to her husband's gloomy and domineering temperament.
Despite this, he is overwhelmingly kind and warm-hearted toward his friends in the Parks Department. While attempting to avoid getting involved in an office competition to dig up dirt on fellow employees, Pawnee PD Officer David Sanderson (Louis C.K.) embarrasses Jerry by telling those present in the Parks office that Jerry has been arrested several times for public urination. It is also revealed that he is adopted, a fact unknown to Jerry. Following a government-wide health screening of male employees in the episode "I'm Leslie Knope", Dr. Harris (Cooper Thornton) reveals to the camera that Jerry possesses the largest penis he has ever seen.

A legendary and highly reputable figure in the jianghu, Chu Liuxiang has a wide network of friends, acquaintances and contacts. They include: Hu Tiehua, his childhood friend who has a penchant for alcoholic drinks; Ji Bingyan, who appears cold and indifferent but is actually very warm-hearted; Wuhua (無花), a Buddhist monk who turns out to be a villain; Zhongyuan Yidianhong (中原一點紅; literally "One Red Dot in the Central Plains"), a powerful swordsman and contract killer; Zuo Qinghou (左輕侯), the hospitable master of Zhibei Manor; "Swift Net" Zhang San ("快罔"張三), a marine expert and excellent chef of grilled fish.
In 2006, the Strawberry Shortcake DVD "World of Friends" introduced a re-telling of the events of the 1983 "Housewarming Surprise" TV special, with a few changes to the story as well as the cast. While some of her "new" friends from around the world stayed nearly the same (Crepes Suzette), and others underwent minor changes (Almond Tea/Tea Blossom), still others (Mint Tulip, Café Olé) were replaced altogether by new, original characters. Frosty Puff, a warm-hearted girl from ice cold Niceland, was one of these new foreign friends. Although it is not obvious by her cold-weather appearance and outfitting, Frosty Puff's scent is that of Blackberries, a first in the Strawberry Shortcake toy line.
An overweight restaurant owner Takuro (Muga Tsukaji) while popular with people for his delicious dinners, is unlucky in love because of his looks, dress sense and terrible habits. John Brodie Gilroy was born 1818, it is assumed in the Newcastle upon Tyne area of England. Very little is known of his life except what can be gleaned from Allen’s 1891 book of Tyneside songs, which in turn comes from an article in the "Weekly Chronicle" He was a well-read man, and was employed as foreman at Lambert's Printing Office in Grey Street, Newcastle. He was known as a "man of ready wit and great natural ability, warm-hearted and generous even beyond his means". He was also known for having a fiery temper and would say such extraordinary things when vexed or annoyed "that even the recipients of these blessings could not refrain from laughing".
In 1814 he was appointed by the Society of Apothecaries gardener—a title changed during his occupancy of the office to curator—of their botanic garden at Chelsea, a post which he filled until his death. He at once set to work to raise the garden from the state of neglect into which it had fallen, and his efforts were attended with great success. He was said to be tall and burly, somewhat rough in manners and appearance, but warm-hearted and charitable. He was elected an associate of the Linnean Society in 1798, and became a fellow in 1815; he contributed various papers on horticultural subjects to the Gardener's Magazine and Horticultural Society's Transactions.
In 1923 she took on the task of introducing Steiner education into the new school of Margaret Cross in Kings Langley, England. She remained in England, taking up an independent activity as travelling lecturer and counselor in Steiner education, which made her, as Cecil Harwood acknowledged in his obituary of her “one of the best known and loved members in Britain” Perhaps her primary engagement was with the Workers Educational Association (WEA), a worker’s educational community in the industrial centres of Britain, under whose auspices she could communicate culture and anthroposophy in her personal warm-hearted manner. A motor accident brought her work to an end in March 1966 and she died at Epiphany in 1968.
Indeed, in the early episodes Brak encounters an entire collection of very nasty women: The demonic immortal witch Ariane, who wants his soul; the cruel and sadistic Princess Vian; the wanton and corrupt Princess Jardine. In later parts, this is counterbalanced by the warm-hearted Dareet, Zama Khan's daughter who deplores her father's evil ways, and later Queen Rhea, a veritable paragon of virtues. Good women or bad, Brak is clearly determined not to settle down in any one place, but rather continue on his endless, Quixiotic quest for fabled Khurdisan. Even when a young, beautiful and courageous queen is deeply in love with him, he firmly if regretfully declines her offer.

Jilly Pure Auld Glenae, and this one, "The Wooing of the Maiden". viii. The Beds of sweet Roses - This song, as far as I know, for the first time appears here in print --- When I was a boy, it was a very popular song in Ayrshire, I remember to have heard those fanatics, the Buchanites, sing some of their nonsensical rhymes, which they dignify with the name of hymns, to this air. ix. The Highland Lassie O - This was a composition of mine in very early life, before I was known at all in the world. My Highland lassie was a warm-hearted, charming young creature as ever blessed a man with generous love.
Love, Simon premiered at the Mardi Gras Film Festival on February 27, 2018, and was released in the United States on March 16, 2018, by 20th Century Fox. Critics praised the film for its "big heart, diverse and talented cast, and revolutionary normalcy", describing it as "tender, sweet, and affecting" and a "hugely charming crowd-pleaser" that is "funny, warm-hearted and life-affirming", with reviews comparing it to the romantic comedy-drama films of John Hughes. Notable as the first film by a major Hollywood studio to focus on a gay teenage romance, it grossed $66million worldwide. A television series titled Love, Victor, set in the same universe as the film, premiered on June 17, 2020 on Hulu, with Robinson serving as the series' narrator.
The Sketch Book introduced three of Irving's most enduring and iconic characters, Rip Van Winkle, Ichabod Crane, and the Headless Horseman. One of the most significant influences of The Sketch Book came from its cycle of five Christmas stories, portraying an idealized and old-fashioned Yule celebration at an English country manor. Irving's stories depicted harmonious warm-hearted English Christmas customs he observed while staying in Aston Hall, Birmingham, England, that had largely been abandoned,Kelly, Richard Michael (ed.) (2003), A Christmas Carol. p.20. Broadview Literary Texts, New York: Broadview Press, and he used the tract Vindication of Christmas (London 1652) of Old English Christmas traditions, that he had transcribed into his journal as a format for his stories.
Armando is a circus owner, a human friend of Cornelius and Zira, and foster-father of Caesar in the Planet of the Apes movie series. He was portrayed by Ricardo Montalbán. A believer in Saint Francis of Assisi, "who loved all animals", the jovial, warm-hearted Armando readily comes to the aid of Cornelius and his pregnant wife Zira during Escape from the Planet of the Apes, when most of humanity has rejected them, and even the United States Government plans to prevent their ever having children, since they someday "may constitute a threat to the human race." Armando states that if the human race is ever dominated by another species, he'd like most of all for it to be the chimpanzee.
Cincinnati Daily Commercial, November 18, 1861 A "striking figure" who carried his weight "lightly," he "was endowed with a strong intellect and a memory [,] which enabled him to repeat, verbatim, page after page of his favorite authors." Nelson was a "fluent and captivating talker, and when he wished to please, no man could be more congenial and companionable." Conversely, when he was "irritated or opposed," the veteran of the Old Navy could become disgustingly "dictatorial and dogmatic." He had a natural affinity for the Southern way of life, and Lincoln could see that subversive elements might want to court such a "warm hearted, handsome," and "aristocratic" individual who gave the impression of someone who was apt to "cast his lot" with slaveholders.
A story of three individuals propelled by their undying greed as they clamor for wealth and power in order to reign supreme at the top of the food chain. Seo Yi-kyung (Lee Yo-won), a cold crystal of a woman who is willing to do anything for her ambitions and she doesn't believe that greed is a sin. Park Gun-woo (Jin Goo), a warm-hearted, free-spirited man of integrity and the heir of a big company who got betrayed by his love, Yi-kyung, 12 years ago. Lee Se-jin (Uee) is a hired persona and comes from a poor family, she lost her parents when she was young, and desperately wants to escape from her situation.
" Corey Hague of ABC Melbourne said that Filmage "has a ready built narrative that jumps around accordingly. It has to be said that it's not always easy to keep up with who's who, but thankfully it doesn't really matter — this is a well made documentary about the power of music and the people who make it." Stephen Dalton of The Hollywood Reporter was more critical of the documentary, calling it "lightweight but warm-hearted" and a "genial love letter to a minor musical cult", but saying that it "starts to lose momentum in its midsection as the turnover of interchangeable band members takes on a slightly Groundhog Day feel. In a break from rockumentary tradition, LaCoeur and Riggle fail to unearth any backstage dirt or drama here.
The rest of Prince Ju's family were then killed, with the only exception of the months-old grandson Liu Bingyi, who was thrown into prison. Emperor Wu ordered that Prince Ju be hunted down, but after a junior official, Linghu Mao (令狐茂), risked his life and spoke on Prince Ju's behalf, Emperor Wu's anger began to subside, but he had not yet issued a pardon for his son. At this point, Liu Ju had fled to Hu County (湖縣, in modern Sanmenxia, Henan) and took refuge in the home of a poor shoemaker. Knowing the financial burden imposed on his warm-hearted host, Liu Ju attempted to seek help from an old friend living in Hu County, but this exposed his whereabouts.
He went on to win attention in Once Were Warriors, one of the most successful films released on New Zealand screens; the line "Uncle fucken Bully" referring to Curtis's character spoken by "Jake the Muss", played by Temuera Morrison, became one of New Zealand film's most memorable and quoted lines, as well as being part of the "Kiwiana" trend. He played Kahu in the short-film Kahu & Maia, a contemporary depiction of a Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Rongomaiwahine legend. He played a seducer in the melodrama Desperate Remedies. In 2000 Curtis starred as family man Billy Williams in Jubilee,"...a funny, warm-hearted comedy set in heartland New Zealand...", New Zealand Film Commission before playing father to the lead character in the international hit Whale Rider.
Occasionally, indeed, they were altogether of a quaintly humorous character, introducing, for instance, the alleged wonderful discoveries of an imaginary Professor Monkhouse".Monthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, Volume 45, p.207 Nevertheless, he continued to encounter problems with professional advancement: > "It would be useless and almost impossible to attempt to describe how the > warm-hearted and genial astronomer failed to take that position amongst his > colleagues to which his undoubtedly great natural talents entitled him. His > extreme carelessness in late years in his outward appearances was certainly > much against him, but the unflagging zeal with which he delivered a whole > course of lectures, if need were, even to a single student, ought to have > told in his favour, as to some extent it doubtless did.
"Under Pressure" has received critical acclaim since its release, with multiple publications ranking it among Queen and Bowie's best songs and among the greatest songs of all time. In a review of Hot Space, Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic called "Under Pressure" as the album's "undeniable saving grace" and "the only reason most listeners remember this album". He described the song as "an utterly majestic, otherworldly duet... that recaptures the effortless grace of Queen's mid-'70s peak, but is underscored with a truly affecting melancholy heart that gives it a genuine human warmth unheard in much of their music." Similarly, Ned Raggett of AllMusic described the song as "anthemic, showy and warm- hearted, [and] a clear standout for both acts".
Mary Ellen (Judy Norton Taylor) is the eldest of Olivia and John's daughters and third child, born in April 1920, aged 13 in season one. Throughout the first few seasons, she is a typically whiny, stubborn, sometimes rebellious teenager. While something of a tomboy who enjoyed playing baseball, Mary Ellen was also prone to melodrama and vanity, engaging in a rivalry with “rich girl” Martha Rose Coverdale for the affections of the awkward but warm-hearted G.W. Haines (David Doremus). Mary Ellen matures into a much wiser young woman and her childish fantasy of becoming a movie star gives way for a more reasonable and realistic ambition to go into medicine after reading up on it and developing an interest.

"Book Lover Book Reviews, Fatal Induction by Bernadette Pajer, As for the characters, "Protagonist Professor Benjamin Bradshaw is such a warm-hearted and likeable character that readers cannot help but barrack for him. Equally charming are those near and dear to him – his curious son Justin, unrequited (?) love Missouri, her adventure seeking Uncle Henry and stalwart housekeeper Mrs Prouty." In each book of the series, readers are introduced to various electoral inventions, such as the Tesla Coil, through the protagonist, Benjamin Bradshaw, a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Washington. While the books are character- driven, the scientific aspects of the stories are historically accurate and "she is also very good at explaining complex scientific concepts to the uninitiated.
Amelia begins as a warm-hearted and friendly girl, though sentimental and naive, but by the story's end she is portrayed as vacuous and shallow. Dobbin appears first as loyal and magnanimous, if unaware of his own worth; by the end of the story he is presented as a tragic fool, a prisoner of his own sense of duty who knows he is wasting his gifts on Amelia but is unable to live without her. The novel's increasingly grim outlook can take readers aback, as characters whom the reader at first holds in sympathy are shown to be unworthy of such regard. The work is often compared to the other great historical novel of the Napoleonic Wars, Tolstoy's War and Peace.

Jo was distraught, and squared up to DS Max Carter, blaming him for Carly's death, claiming that had she been allowed to meet Carly when she originally agreed to come out, it would never have gotten that far. Full of laconic wit and sarcasm, Jo can banter with the best of them, but she is also incredibly warm hearted. She is someone to be relied on, and many officers at Sun Hill, DC Grace Dasari in particular, would call her a dear friend as well as a colleague. Although she remains approachable and level-headed, her PCs are soon to discover that their new Sarge is no pushover – and she is not afraid to take on Sergeant Callum Stone or Inspector Dale Smith either, if the case demands it.
" In a less enthusiastic review for The Guardian, Killian Fox said Between the Times and the Tides was "more interesting sonically in the tension between questing guitars and straightforward song structures than it is in terms of lyrics, which aim to be down to earth but end up middle of the road." NME writer John Doran wrote, "sure enough here are a wealth of rock gems that shine with a warm-hearted, Neil Young-like intensity. Those wanting clangour and dissonance will be disappointed, but everyone else will be pleasantly surprised." Writing for Pitchfork Media, Grayson Currin deemed it a "motley assortment of Sonic Youth nods, acoustic entreaties, and cloying pop-rockers" but that "Ranaldo's opportunity to step out of the Sonic Youth shadows and into his own proper spotlight is mostly a miss made of mediocrity.
Other notable roles followed including Australian prostitute/whistleblower Sallie-Anne Huckstepp in the docudrama Blue Murder and Christine in Alkinos Tsilimidos' gritty drama Tom White, for which she also received nominations for Australian Film Institute Best Supporting Actress, Film Critics Circle Best Actor – Female 2004 and IF Awards Best Actress 2004. When asked whether she prefers film or music, Carmen explains 'Making and working on music is my lifeblood and what I do every day but acting is also second nature to me. Skeptical of superstition, he is somewhat ahead of his time, and much accurate historical detail is woven into the adventures. But there any resemblance to the comparatively warm-hearted Cadfael series ends: the tone and subject matter of the Gregory novels is far darker and does not shrink from portraying the harsh realities of life in the Middle Ages. The first in the series, A Plague on Both Your Houses (1996) is set against the ravages of the Black Death and subsequent novels take much of their subject matter from the attempts of society to recover from this disaster. These novels bear the marks of much detailed research into medieval conditions - many of the supporting characters have names taken from the documentation of the time, referenced at the end of each book - and bring vividly to life the all- pervading squalor of living conditions in England during the Middle Ages.
Some of those who knew him best say that he was in reality warm-hearted but the characteristics that made an impression on every one were his reserve and his austerity; in general he was an object of respect rather than of affection; he had none of the weaknesses that make men lovable. As deeply religious as any of his Puritan ancestors, he was most broadly tolerant of the beliefs of others. His conception of civic duty was Roman, but he was ever willing to oppose even the State in defending what he regarded as the constitutional and legal rights of the individual. He was frugal to such a degree that on one occasion when traveling as governor with his staff, instead of partaking of a sumptuous dinner in a dining car specially provided for them, he rode in a coach and ate a sandwich which he had brought from home.

Klugmann remained a devout Communist all his life and went on to play a significant role in the CPGB becoming responsible for the Education branch. After his wartime service, he became a member of the executive committee of the British Communist Party and editor of Marxism Today. Michael Straight (later owner and editor of The New Republic and chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts), an American who had studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, and who had become friends there with Blunt, Kim Philby, Donald Maclean and Guy Burgess described Klugmann as "a warm-hearted and compassionate intellectual whose commitment to Communism left him no time for such minor preoccupations as taking a bath or cleaning his fingernails." One of the most active and overt British communists of his generation, Klugmann became an influential left-wing journalist after the war and wrote the first two volumes of the official History of the Communist Party of Great Britain, which was continued by Noreen Branson.
Holmes 2004, p. 9 Ian Senior offers a critical view of French in 1914: although he was "essentially a generous and warm-hearted man" as seen in his pre-Marne meeting with Joffre, his "excitable temperament, uncertain judgement based on rumour and personal experience and his tendency to over- exaggerate problems did not suit him to be in command of the army. At best, his more questionable decisions led to a lack of support for his ally at critical moments in the campaign; at worst, they threatened to wreck Joffre's carefully laid plans for the counteroffensive." Senior is critical of his vetoing — out of excessive concern to avoid BEF losses — of Haig's orders to attack on 29 August, his decision to pull the BEF out of the line on 30 August, only a few hours after promising to assist Fifth Army by delaying his retreat, and his countermanding of Haig's order to advance on 9 September.

Tsz Kit notices that Ling Hung looks very much like his adoptive mother Mei, which raised Tsz Kit's suspicions even much more. It is soon revealed that Ching Yan was hired as a bodyguard by Ling Hung to protect Tsz Kit in Taiwan and when Ching Yan eventually catches up with Tsz Kit in Hong Kong, she orders him to stay with her and informed it is her job to protect him.
P.L. Rose: Herder: "Humanity" and the Jewish Question, in: . But the contemporary Jewish population was characterized by Herder as a strange Asiatic and selfish "nation" which was always separated from others, not a very original conception which was also popular in the discussions of the National Assembly which insisted that Jewish citizens have to give up their status as a nation, if they want to join the new status as equal citizens. Hegel in a drawing by one of his students Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel whose philosophy was somehow inspired by a "Mosaic" mission, was not only an important professor at the University in Berlin since 1818, he also had a positive influence on reform politics of Prussia. Though his missionary ambitions and his ideas about a general progress in humanity which can be found in his philosophy, Hegel was often described by various of his students as a very open minded and warm hearted person who was always ready to discuss controversially his ideas and the ideas opposed to it.
