The Townswomen’s Guilds (TG) produces Townswoman, a magazine for its members which is published quarterly every year - it is delivered directly to all TG members. Townswoman contains a mixture of articles covering all aspects of the organisation and more general features of interest to the members.

Tangermünd, 17th century engraving by Matthäus Merian On 13 September 1617 Tangermünde was almost completely destroyed by a fire, allegedly started as an act of revenge by a townswoman who had vainly sued at the local court for her inheritance. Accused of arson and burned at the stake in 1619, her story was perpetuated by Theodor Fontane's historical novel Grete Minde. The town was rebuilt with a variety of half-timbered houses lending it a unique appearance.

16 After twelve years of military service, soldiers from peasant families were to be given completely equipped farms located in the conquered East. The last two years of the military service would be focused on agricultural education. The soldier was not to be allowed to marry a townswoman, but only a peasant woman who, if possible, had not begun to live in a town with him. A lone yakuza musketeer chases after Ichi alongside a canal and shoots him in retaliation for Ichi cutting the yakuza boss and to earn the prestige of his more experienced fellows. His fellow yakuza arrive and he claims to have killed Ichi but without a corpse they don't believe him. Ichi is rescued from the water and a travelling stranger pays a local townswoman to nurse Zatoichi back to health. When well again Ichi travels to the stranger's home town to express his gratitude.

Scammell Hugh du Puiset p. 70 He taught at the school of Paris for a while, where at one point a townswoman tried to seduce him, resulting in the medieval writer Gerald of Wales later recounting the humorous story of how Blois resisted the lady's advances. Blois was frequently a witness to Puiset's charters, and was named as rector of a parish church in the city of Durham, appointed by Puiset. By the late 1180s, Blois had moved to the household of Hugh of Avalon, the Bishop of Lincoln.

The migrant influx that drew large numbers of women to towns and cities made it difficult for many women to find a husband among the much smaller population of men. The number of unmarried women in these areas rose quickly as a result, and work became the primary outlet for lower class women to earn a living. Certain occupations were more available to singlewomen during the early Middle Ages, but restrictions imposed in the later Middle Ages decreased the economic opportunities for singlewomen greatly. Throughout the Middle Ages, social status was a considerable factor in the type of work a townswoman was eligible to perform.

TG is very proud of its members’ achievements, both for their service to the organisation and for their support to other organisations, charities and their community. Every year, members are recognised and awards are presented at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Townswoman of the Year – this is an award presented to a member who has devoted their time and energy to the organisation and is chosen by the National Chairman. Officers’ Trophy – this award is given to a member who has exceptionally gone ‘above and beyond the call of duty’ to support an organisation or charity, or has made an impact to her community in a positive way and is chosen by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

There were two mayors: Mayor Pike, who was more relaxed, and Mayor Stoner, who had a more assertive personality. On the distaff side, townswoman Clara Edwards (Hope Summers), Barney's sweetheart Thelma Lou (Betty Lynn) and Andy's schoolteacher sweetheart Helen Crump (Aneta Corsaut) become semi-regulars.

On Sunday afternoon, September 9, 1990, the Montgomery machinist and welder Thomas Wilson Silman (born c. 1949), an unmarried loner, went on a rampage and murdered four relatives: his father World War II veteran Thomas Henry Silman (1910–1990), sister Carolyn Silman Lewis (1957–1990), brother-in-law James Daniel "Danny" Lewis, Jr. of Robeline in Natchitoches Parish (1949–1990), a veteran of the Vietnam War, and uncle and storekeeper Conley Kermit Allen (1923-1990). He also wounded Montgomery police officer and fire chief Dan Fletcher and Grant Parish deputy sheriff John Rollins, who arrived at the scene of the shooting outside the Silman residence at Carrie and Jordan streets in Montgomery, and slightly impaired a neighboring townswoman, Frances Elaine Dalme (1920-2000), a native of Meridian, Mississippi. All of the shootings occurred in a few minutes.
