There are a still few quibbles: there are no physical page-turn buttons or even the under-glass capacitive touchpads like the Voyage used to have; the illuminated display doesn't offer an adaptive light sensor, unlike the Oasis; and it doesn't charge via USB-C, which is disappointing for a 27 device that likely won't be updated for years.

But after attending this year's World Championships (in scenic Roseville, Minnesota!)—a five-day circus of Netrunner tournament games and related events—I think it's safe to say the game might actually be in the best position it's ever held, even considering the usual quibbles and concerns that one would expect from a complex, competitive game.

I avoid partial phrases in my puzzles unless there's really no other option, so I was disappointed that 11-Across's clue change caused it to be reparsed from the Latin AMO to the two-word A MO. Other than these quibbles, I'm quite pleased with the final version of this puzzle, which underwent several drafts over the last few years.

There are a few quibbles: there's only one USB-A port, for example, which tends to be one of the main reasons for buying a hub like this, but the addition of a second USB-C port for data (alongside the usual one for power) gives me hope that USB-C may finally be gaining enough ground that a second USB-A port isn't needed.

The port was handled by Playdek, who did last year's superb release of Twlight Struggle, and I would say they've done a good job here of faithfully and effectively adapting the tabletop game to the PC. I have a few quibbles with the UI, and how badly the game gives cues to players about whose turn it is, but otherwise it feels like a fast and hassle-free version of Waterdeep.

World-building quibbles aside, it's difficult to bear the conclusion that the horrors of our times are inevitable and inescapable: that there will always be abuses of power, that the arc of the universe doesn't bend toward justice so much as inscribe a circle away from it, that if our world were destroyed and rebuilt with women in charge it would look exactly as it does with men in charge.

I have some design quibbles with Reelgood, though – like the fact that episode summaries are cut off when you're viewing a list after performing a search; or how that "On Sources" flag next to them seems to indicate if it's available on your sources (?), but could be mistaken for a button you're supposed to click; or the way the checkmark and plus icons are overlaid on show and movie image thumbnails, sometimes obscuring the titles.

They have their flaws — that omniscient narrator occasionally adopts a tone that's too preachy, and McGuire's point-of-view characters are too frequently passengers in their own stories — but the central premise of the series (a hidden school in our world, meant to help heal and care for kids who've slipped into some other world, Narnia or Wonderland style) is so irresistible and the characters so well-drawn that these flaws become quibbles.

I am prepared to lend half an ear to such notions, even if they are paltry quibbles when set against the wonder of a borderless Europe at peace, access to a market of half a billion people, decades of growing prosperity since Britain joined the European Economic Community in 1973, and the British capacity to count in the world as a leader within a united Europe rather than become an insular minnow adrift in the English Channel.
