Before she finishes her dance, Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer at the cathedral is led in to be crowned "The Fools' Pope" When Frollo angrily remonstrates with him, the crowd turns on Frollo who is rescued by Clopin. With Quasimodo's help, Frollo then attempts to kidnap Esmeralda, but she is rescued by the arrival of Phoebus and his archers. Esmeralda and Phoebus are taken with one another and as a parting gift, he gives her a scarf.

They give the divers well below the value of the pearls while the divers suffer numerous injuries, some fatal, from the sea bed and from diving without breathing equipment. When a diver is gravely injured, Sebastian, a leading trader, is indifferent, demanding the other divers keep working. When Lloyd remonstrates, Sebastian threatens him, demands he leave the island and swings a punch at him.

Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) offers to be Rachel's publicist, and suggests they find a charitable cause; when Rachel sees a woman stuffing her dog into a bag and remonstrates with her for abusing the animal, she realizes she's found her cause. Kurt is on duty at the Spotlight Diner when an elderly woman asks him to put up a poster for a production of Peter Pan at the Lexington Home for Retired Performers, where she lives.

The slave departs as Philocleon arrives, now with aggrieved victims on his heels and a pretty flute girl on his arm. Bdelycleon appears moments later and angrily remonstrates with his father for kidnapping the flute girl from the party. Philocleon pretends that she is in fact a torch.

Daphne thoughtlessly runs out to get Smithers to clean the article, and that worthy soon appears and remonstrates with his mistress on the subject, winding up by giving "notice." It seems, however, that the real cause of the resignation is that Smithers has heard that Mr Jarramie is "blackballed" for the Cerulean Club, for which he had been put up.

She later finds out Samuel Drake, her former enemy, is also partnered with Frazer, and though initially at odds with him, eventually begins to put the grudge aside and works with him to stop Asav. After finally catching up with Asav, she discovers that Shoreline, now led by Orca, have resorted to working with the insurgent leader by agreeing to offer him munitions in exchange for the Tusk. After helping Chloe force Orca from his helicopter, she remonstrates him for associating with Asav, before shooting him dead in return fire whilst she is saved by Sam. After helping defeat Asav, she tells Chloe and Samuel that she has finally moved on from retaking Shoreline and instead plans to pursue further work in fortune hunting, hinting at more adventures alongside Chloe.

Rútur, fed up with the tedium of his life as a financier, joins Valur and the others on the road-trip. It is announced on national radio that Valur is wanted in connection with the break-in at AUR Investment. Valur visits his mother; Kolbrá realises that Rútur and Steinbjörn are the ultimate power behind the break-in and drugs trafficking that Krummi has involved her in (the drugs being a sidenote to a theft of share-certificates); Rútur has sex with Gerður, who has realised she loves him more than she loves Valur; Kolbrá remonstrates with Rútur; and she and Valur turn themselves into the police. Valur is sentenced for both the break-in and his previous misdemeanours to a tough sentence of about a decade in prison; Kolbrá to one year; Rútur to three and a half; and Steinbjörn manages to avoid conviction.
