Atléticos de San Germán is a basketball club of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) based in San Germán, Puerto Rico. Founded in the 1930s after the amalgamation of the old San Germán team and the Farmacia Martín team, the team is one of the original BSN franchises. On 4 August 1171 the two Fernando Ponces sold their land in Valdesalce to a certain Fernán Baldrín. The first tenencias Fernando Ponce held were Melgar (1172–90), which he continued to hold throughout most of his career, and Allariz (1174), which he held but briefly. He was also briefly installed in the Limia in 1173, and he was re- installed as governor there on four later occasions: 1178–79, 1182–84, 1187, and 1195–96. In 1177 he was briefly sine terra ("without land"), but was installed in Lemos, which he held until 1180, and where he governed subsequently in 1187 and 1192.

On 23 April 2011, Commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet (C6F) relieved Ponces commanding and executive officers, as a result of a hazing inquiry. Vice Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr., relieved commanding officer (CO) Commander Etta Jones, due to a demonstration of poor leadership and failure to appropriately investigate, report, and hold accountable sailors found involved in hazing incidents. Additionally, she failed to properly handle a loaded weapon during a security alert, which endangered some of her ship's crew.

He also began work on a new blog called 'On the Rock'n'Roll' dealing with "a history of making music on the dole, incorporating anecdotes, interviews, musical selections, social history, dirty squatters, social security scroungers, workshy ponces and a whole load of cultural misappropriation", for which the first entry related to Moonshake performing a 1997 record label showcase in New Orleans while Callahan and Michael Rother were simultaneously waiting for imminent DSS Restart interviews back in the UK.

On 2 February 1982, during a towing exercise while en route to Portsmouth, England, Ponce collided with , causing minor damage to Ponces port side, mainly to the accommodation ladder and flight deck catwalk. On 14 February 1984, while attempting to bring an assault craft into the welldeck, near Morehead City, North Carolina, Ponce suffered major damage when her stern gate was damaged and eventually lost. She was later repaired in Philadelphia. Following the stern gate repairs, Ponce resumed her deployment, successfully loading the Marines and equipment off North Carolina's shores and heading for the Mediterranean, where she served as part of a multinational peacekeeping force, patrolling the shore off Beirut, Lebanon in the wake of the attack on the Marine barracks the previous October.
