Simon Templar is asked by his friend, Inspector Farnack, to protect Peter Johnson, a man trying to transport a cache of rare stamps from New York City to his niece Elna, a tennis pro for a hotel in Palm Springs, California. In an attempted robbery, Simon strikes an unseen assailant in the face with his "Saint" ring. On the train west, Simon is introduced to Margaret Forbes, who will be a guest at the Palm Springs hotel. There the stamps are stolen from Templar, so Simon employs his pal, pickpocket "Pearly" Gates, to steal belongings from every other hotel guest.

Meanwhile, Pastor Dan meets with Guzman at the construction site of City on a Hill. Guzman tries to play the DVD of the shooting, but instead plays a sex tape he made with his wife. Offended, Pastor Dan starts hitting him, but is stopped when Guzman stabs him in the abdomen and leaves him in the trunk of a car. After a while, Carl arrives by foot and finds the bleeding Pastor Dan, who is hallucinating because of the blood loss and thinks he is at the Pearly Gates, and calls for help on a cell phone.

Ehrlich always had the dream of being in a musical, but due to difficulties landing a part without any experience in acting or singing, he wrote an original musical for the stage, "Pearly Gates: the Musical". He also directed, produced and starred in the musical. It was performed in March and April 2011 in front of 3000 people in 3 theaters in Los Angeles: The El Portal, The Lancaster Performing Arts Center, and The Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center. Later, Ehrlich has made his first independent feature film of the same name which is scheduled for release in early 2015.

Louie Jeffries, a young district attorney, is hit by a car and dies in 1964, but manages to slip by the pearly gates and is instantly reborn. In 1987, 23 years later, his widow Corinne still misses him, ignoring the frustrated devotion of his best friend Phillip Train, who has pretty much raised Louie's only daughter Miranda as his own. Miranda, while a student at Yale University, meets Alex Finch, who works in the library but is about to graduate. After graduation, Alex heads to Washington, D.C., where he makes his way to the offices of The Washington Post.

This Southern Gospel trio consists of husband and wife Frank and Vicki Arnold and Sheri LaFontaine, who joined in 1999. Frank Arnold originally started performing at 16 with his family group, which included his parents, sisters Jeanie and Lahona, and little brother Kenny on drums. In the early eighties they added Steve Snodgrass on piano and Dennis Fast on Bass, along with other members who came and went. Their big success came with their album Pearly Gates, which featured six original songs written by Dennis Fast, and recorded with help from Lari Goss in Nashville, Tennessee.

A puppet version of Cook also appeared several times in the satirical series Spitting Image. In his favourite sketch, his puppet double goes to the Pearly Gates and confronts God as if he were a crooked estate agent who promised land to the Jews, only to offer the same land to the Arabs under the name of Allah. Viz comic also did a parody with "Roger Mellie, The Man on the Telly" doing his version...The Crook Report.

Unlike many novels about the relationship of Heaven to Hell and the traditional Christian portrayal, Hell is not a place of eternal pain and torture, more akin to Purgatory. For instance, Satan does not always take pleasure in killing or torturing others, seeing it more as a given role than a personal pleasure. Beelzebub is also tasked with all of Satan's inane duties, including handling the capture of Meg Finn herself. Likewise, Heaven is not completely pure, as Saint Peter seems to take pleasure in sending souls to limbo instead of through the Pearly Gates, as well as letting souls through that are not completely pure.

The Mafia boss Uncle Enzo begins to take a paternal interest in Y.T. Impressed by her attitude and initiative, he arranges to meet her and offers her freelance jobs. Hiro's investigations and Y.T.'s intelligence gathering begin to coincide, with links between the neuro-linguistic viruses, a religious organization known as Reverend Wayne's Pearly Gates and a media magnate named L. Bob Rife beginning to emerge. Lagos's research showed that the ancient Sumerian ur-language allowed brain function to be 'programmed' using audio stimuli in conjunction with a DNA altering virus. Sumerian culture was organized around these programs (known as me) which were administered by priests to the populace.

Soon, Armitage flees to Mouse, who repairs the damage and gives her a program that will allow her to go beyond her limited fighting abilities. A shipwreck near the Solomon Islands leaves San Franciscan Harmon Darrell (Terry) and his daughter Nancy (Butler) adrift in a lifeboat. Cyril McVeagh (Carey) a ship's captain reduced to drunkenness and brutality by his shattered love affair with Nancy, rules one of the islands, accompanied only by his deranged mate "Pearly" Gates (Russell) and the island's natives. McVeagh is about to marry Liana (Foster), a native who loves him but is desired by Pearly, when Nancy arrives on the island, horrified at McVeagh's dissipation. Tanarka, Liana's former betrothed, leads a native rebellion against McVeagh, who sends Nancy away in a boat before the attack.

Hi Summer was a British television variety show made by London Weekend Television and shown on UK television in 1977 by ITV, the oldest commercial network in the UK. A total of eight episodes were made and featured a cast that included Leslie Crowther, Lena Zavaroni, Carl Wayne, Pearly Gates, Anna Dawson, Derek Griffiths, Chris Quinten and Stephanie Lawrence. This travelling variety show featured sketches, topical comedy and musical numbers that were recorded both in studio and on location (Stratford upon Avon, Crystal Palace, Knebworth House among others). The theme tune was composed by Lynsey de Paul, and sung by Carl Wayne and was released as a single. De Paul's theme was later re-used on commercials for TVTimes.

Charles Henry Chapman (27 May 1874 – 77 January 1955), known as "Pop", was an Australian entrepreneur, gold prospector, businessman and newspaper publisher. Chapman was born at Coonabarabran, New South Wales, on 27 May 1874 where his parents had a farming property. His father came from Stoke, Plymouth, England, and married Julia Downing, whose family claimed to be descendants of the family after which 10 Downing Street was named. She had become greatly attached to Uncle Tom, and the last act of her life was to present him with a little locket containing her picture. Once more Uncle Tom is sold and again falls into the hands of Simon Legree. He is taken to Legree's plantation in Mississippi, where he is overworked and ill-treated to the point of death. Just before he dies he presses to his lips the locket with the picture of his beloved little girl and in a vision sees her in the clouds holding out her arms to him that he, too, may enter with her the pearly gates, inside of which all souls are equal, and all free.

In 1963, Sellers starred as gang leader "Pearly Gates" in Cliff Owen's The Wrong Arm of the Law, followed by his portrayal of a vicar in Heavens Above! After his father's death in October 1962, Sellers decided to leave England and was approached by director Blake Edwards who offered him the role of Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther, after Peter Ustinov had backed out of the film. James Lipton was inspired to create Inside the Actors Studio by a chance viewing of a Pivot program on cable TV. Lipton adapted Pivot's use of a Proust Questionnaire to one that he himself used at the end of each episode of Inside the Actors Studio.The New York Times However, the question "If God exists, what would you like Him to tell you when you're dead ?" was considered potentially offensive for the US audience, and replaced by a more accepted "If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?" Pivot became aware that Lipton was inspired by his questionnaire, and invited Lipton to appear on the final episode of Bouillon de culture.

One of the most recurring plot devices used in the X-Men franchise is death and resurrection, mostly in the sense of Jean Grey and her bond with the Phoenix. Though not as iconic as Jean and the Phoenix, many other X-Men characters have died and come back to life on occasion. Death and resurrection has become such a common occurrence in the X-books that the characters have mentioned on numerous occasions that they're not strangers to death or have made comments that death doesn't always have a lasting effect on them (for example, "In mutant heaven, there are no pearly gates, only revolving doors"). X-Necrosha is a particular story arc that sees Selene temporarily reanimate many of the X-Men's dead allies and enemies in order for her to achieve godhood.

Two climbers ascending the Hogsback and approaching the Pearly Gates On May 7, 2017, John Thorton Jenkins, a 32-year-old experienced climber from Seattle, WA was heading for the summit when he slid down steep terrain near the Hogsback.

By 1958, a writer for the Deadwood Pioneer-Times in Deadwood, South Dakota, wrote that Schmertz was "rapidly gaining national prominence as an interpreter of American musical and lyrical idiom" after Schmertz wrote a song, "Swing Away, Pearly Gates," for Edmund Karlsrud and the Concertmen, who performed it as a part of their 1957–1958 tour. In 1958, composer Elie Seigmeister and lyricist Edward Mabley cited Schmertz's "Monongahela Sal" and "Lock No. Ten" as inspiration for The Mermaid in Lock No. 7, a musical "in the folk idiom, expanded by modern, sophisticated treatment" that debuted at the American Wind Symphony Orchestra.
