Before he dies, Edwin instructs Brian to continue his rule and look after the people. Sir Oswald hears this and sets Brian under the knightly training of Sir Grot, a friend of Edwin's.

Anton Grot (18 January 1884 - 21 March 1974) was a Polish art director long active in Hollywood. He was known for his prolific output with Warner Brothers, contributing, in such films as Little Caesar (1931), and Gold Diggers of 1933 to the distinctive Warners look and style. According to a TCM profile, he showed a "flair for harsh realism, Expressionistic horror and ornate romantic moods alike". He was born Antoni Franciszek Groszewski in Kiełbasin, Poland and died in Stanton, California.

Grot Johann initially pursued a career in engineering; he spent his apprenticeship at AG Vulcan Stettin where he continued to work as a journeyman. In 1861 he took up studies in engineering at the Polytechnikum in Hannover where he discovered his vocation for artistry. Among his first works were illustrations of old German writings at Wartburg castle. With the support of Peter von Cornelius, he moved to Düsseldorf in 1862 and studied first under Karl Ferdinand Sohn, then under Karl Lasch.

Some of the type designs appearing around this time may be based on signpainting and architectural lettering traditions, or vice versa. The first known example of a slab-serif letterform is woodblock lettering on an 1810 lottery advertisement from London. It is known as the earliest Dutch-style stone building of Ulaanbaatar.

Jonathan Llyr (born 1966) is a Canadian actor and TV personality. Llyr (sometimes credited as Jonathan Bryn Llyr) is best known for his work as an on-air personality for Space, Canada's science fiction specialty channel. The modern system of spelling was rationalized by Grot in the 1880s. The spelling reform of 1918 significantly changed the appearance of the language by eliminating two frequently used letters ѣ and і (and two rarely used ones ѳ and ѵ), as well as the use of the word-final ъ (hard sign), although it did not introduce fundamental theoretical changes to the principles he laid down. Contemporary spelling and punctuation follow the 1956 rules, which were aimed at codifying existing practice rather than establishing new principles.

The Veternica (Serbian Cyrillic: Ветерница, ) is a river in southern Serbia, a 75 km long left tributary to the Južna Morava, which gives the name to the region surrounding its valley. The Veternica originates from the Grot peak, the southernmost part of the Kukavica mountain. Four smaller streams meet at the village of Vlase and continue to the north as the Veternica. The river flows next to the villages of Golemo Selo, Oštra Glava and Gagince, where it flows parallel to the Jablanica river.

Keith Wilfred Smith (26 February 1926 - 30 March 2008) was an English actor who is best known to for his roles in The Army Game and The Beiderbecke Trilogy. Smith also appeared in The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin as a manager of a Grot shop. Smith also appeared in George and Mildred in the episode My Husband Next Door, on 1 November 1976 as the tv repair man taking away the Roper's TV set, in series 1. Smith was a regular in the Q... with Spike Milligan.

The category of Cinematography has the strongest presence of Polish filmmakers, with two wins (both by Janusz Kamiński) and fourteen other nominations (including four noms for Kamiński). As of that, the cinematographer Janusz Kamiński is the most Oscar-awarded Polish filmmaker. The second most-awarded Pole was designer Anton Grot, who won one Academy Award and was nominated to the Oscars five times more. The director Roman Polanski won an Oscar and was nominated four more times (additionally, Knife in the Water, film directed and written by him was also nominated).

The Arathim are a spider- like race that appear in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, all connected by a hivemind known as the Ascendency. The Arathim initially lived in the Caves of Grot until the Skeksis drove them into the wilds for refusing to submit and fought the Gelflings in many conflicts. The Arathim eventually become the Gelflings' allies in their rebellion against the Skeksis, who respond by having skekTek graft some Arathim corpses with the remains of one of his Gruenak slaves to create the first Garthim.

This trend reached its zenith with The Who's use of a dozen JBL 4350 monitors, each capable of 125 dB and containing two fifteen-inch woofers and a twelve-inch mid-bass driver. Most studios, however, also used more modest monitoring devices to check how recordings would sound through car speakers and cheap home systems. A favourite "grot-box" monitor employed in this way was the Auratone 5C, a crude single-driver device that gave a reasonable facsimile of typical lo-fi sound. However, a backlash against the behemoth monitor was soon to take place.

At a meeting of the Moscow Psychological Society in 1887, the psychiatrists Grigory Rossolimo and Ardalion Tokarskii (1859–1901) demonstrated both Wundt's experiments and hypnosis. As a member of General Tokarzewski's staff, he took an active part in forming the first underground resistance organization in the country: The Service for Poland's Victory. Later, with the creation of the Union of Armed Struggle (later known as the Home Army), he held positions of responsibility in Branch I, and then in Division VII of the Home Army Headquarters. During this period, he directed the Legalization Department and organized a network of hideouts and safe houses in Warsaw. He arranged, among other things, the lodgings of General Stefan Rowecki – “Grot” – the commander of the Home Army.

The Mongolor company had investment from Russia, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. It was incorporated in Saint Petersburg. At one point, the studio considered the possibility of shooting some scenes on location in the Soviet Union, but the political situation there made that impossible. Instead, the film was shot at the studio in Hollywood, with sets designed by the art director Anton Grot. The ѳ remained more common, though it became quite rare as a "Western" (French-like) pronunciation had been adopted for many words; for example, ѳеатръ (ḟeatr, , 'theater') became театръ (teatr, ). Attempts to reduce spelling inconsistency culminated in the standard textbook of Grot (1885), which retained its authority through 21 editions until the Russian Revolution of 1917. His fusion of the morphological, phonetic, and historic principles of Russian orthography remains valid to this day, though both the Russian alphabet and the writing of many individual words have been altered through a complicated but extremely consistent system of spelling rules that tell which of two vowels to use under all conditions.

A month before the outbreak of the Greater Poland Uprising, Antoni Wysocki took part in the first session of Polska Komenda Straży Obywatelskiej (Polish Civic Guard Headquarters) in Poznań. His contingent was the first to reach the Bazar Hotel. Afterwards, he participated in the seizure of the sappers’ barracks in Wilda.

Armia Krajowa Cross Armia Krajowa Cross (Home Army Cross; ) is a Polish military decoration that was introduced by General Tadeusz Bór-Komorowski on 1 August 1966 to commemorate the efforts of the soldiers of the Polish Secret State between 1939 and 1945. The decoration was awarded to soldiers of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa) and of its predecessor organizations (Służba Zwycięstwu Polski, Związek Walki Zbrojnej). The first recipient (posthumous) was General Stefan Grot–Rowecki. The award was supported by the Polish government in exile in London and was not recognized by the People's Republic of Poland, which viewed members of the mostly anti-communist Armia Krajowa as enemies of the state.

The concept of Grotbags came about while Scott was performing in summer season in Cleethorpes with Rod Hull. When Hull was approached to make a new show to be broadcast at the launch of Central Independent Television, he created the series Emu's World, and approached Scott to play the witch. Together they came up with the premise of Grotbags' character and name (the latter coming with Scott suggesting 'Miss Grot', the name the MD of Ladbrokes used to call her; Hull revised it to Grotbags). During the 1939 Invasion of Poland, Iranek- Osmecki was an officer at the Polish General Staff, serving under General Quartermaster, Colonel Jozef Wiatr. On September 17, 1939, he crossed the Polish-Romanian border. In October 1939, Iranek-Osmecki was named deputy commandant of Bucharest officer of the Second Department of Polish General Staff. In December of that year, he joined the Union of Armed Struggle. In June 1940, after moving to France, he continued working at the Polish General Staff, responsible for communication with occupied Poland. On November 6, 1940, following the order of Commander in chief, General Wladyslaw Sikorski, Iranek-Osmecki went to Poland, reaching Warsaw on December 18, 1940, and reporting immediately to General Stefan Grot-Rowecki.

The MSBS-7.62N is a semi-automatic sniper rifle/designated marksman rifle chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge. The MSBS-762N project began in the end of 2015 when Polish Military of Defence announced analytical works for the replacement program of their SVD Dragunov sniper rifle and supplement the bolt-action TRG-22 and Tor sniper rifles currently in service. It was led by the team of Fabryka Broni Łucznik-Radom and Wojskowa Akademia Techniczna (WAT) engineers. The MSBS-762N has two different configurations; one with a 508 mm (20 in) barrel with a fixed adjustable stock and the other with 406 mm (16 in) barrel with the MSBS Grot C's adjustable side-folding stock.

Antoni Wysocki was born on May 25, 1884, in Poznań. He was a son of Michal (a saddler) and Maria Stępniak. From 1902 to 1904 he was learning to become a printer. He obtained the vocational certificate and worked in the vocation until the outbreak of the I World War. In the night of April 19/20 of that year, KWP's unit under Jan Rogolka (nom de guerre "Grot") temporarily captured the town of Radomsko, releasing 57 persons incarcerated in local prison by the UB. Kokovtsov was admitted as a candidate for a civil service position in the Imperial Ministry of Justice serving first in the statistical, then the legislative and finally in the criminal office. From 1879 to 1890 he served as Senior Inspector and Assistant Head of the Central Administration of Prisons. This period is noted for its prison reforms formulated by State Secretary K.K. From 1890 to 1896, he served in the State Council as Assistant State Secretary, State Secretary and finally as Assistant Imperial Secretary where he worked primarily on matters reviewed by the Russian Imperial State Council's Department of State Economy. From 1896 to 1902 he served in one of the three Assistant Minister of Finance positions under Sergei Witte.

Caslon's Egyptian in an early specimen book. The Two Lines English Egyptian typeface is a font created by the Caslon foundry of Salisbury Square, London around or probably slightly before 1816, that is the first general-purpose sans-serif typeface in the Latin alphabet known to have been created. Sans- serif lettering in block capitals had been developing in popularity over the past decades, initially due to interest in classical antiquity in which inscriptions often had minimal or no serifs, and come to be used by architect John Soane and copied by others, particularly in signpainting. Historian James Mosley, the leading expert on early sans-serifs, has suggested in his book The Nymph and The Grot that Soane's influence was crucial in spreading the idea of sans-serif letterforms around the end of the eighteenth century.

The inscription on which the font is based is an epigram, The Nymph of the Spring, in the grotto beside the lake where a statue of a nymph sleeps, and is in a mostly sans-serif style, one of the first such uses of the style since classical antiquity. The unusual style of the inscription came to the attention of historians, most famously James Mosley, whose work The Nymph and the Grot on early sans-serif lettering is named after it. Mosley has concluded that he cannot be certain of the source of the style and that it does not seem to have influenced successors, but that its unusual, simplified structure may be an "exercise in rusticity" related to the spirit of the construction, intended to imitate a natural cave. Unfortunately, the inscription was destroyed by mistake in 1967, and had to be replicated from Mosley's photographs.

Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer is an alter ego of Jim Burke, a rapper with the Britpop group Collapsed Lung whose most famous song was 'Eat My Goal'.. Burke started performing as Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer in late 2007, playing at cabaret clubs, and venues across the UK including the Glastonbury Festival and club NME in Paris, and performed as part of the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.. He has performed on radio including the Steve Lamacq show and "Introducing with Tom Robinson" for the BBC. He has also been named as a 'Band of the Month' on the Kooba Radio podcast.. His debut album "Flattery Not Included" was released in 2008 for the Grot Music label, which includes the track "Chap-Hop History" which is a Received Pronunciation reworking of some well-known hip-hop classics. Its accompanying video has received over 1.5 million views on YouTube. Another track from the album, "Timothy", is about the unique vocal style of BBC Radio's Tim Westwood.

Other frequently appearing heroic characters include the young shepherd girl Drissi, her little brother Caz, the scientists (Alcon, Gepple, Krex, and Meldoc), the robots Gleep and UR, Grot the gardener, councilman Werban, the cyclops Meliac, and the remaining Galactic Guardians: Sagitar, Tuskador, Spinwit, and Artilla; with the final members Kayo, Vizor, and Nocturna rarely featuring in the show (although they did appear in the comics and series intro). Skeletor's allies in Flogg's band of Evil Mutants consist mainly of Flogg's incompetent second-in-command Slush-Head, Skeletor's new love interest Crita, and other mutants such as Quakke, Staghorn, B.H., Hoove, Karatti, Optik, and Lizorr. The New Adventures of He-Man cartoon series first aired September 17, 1990, lasting 65 episodes, until the episode "The Final Invasion," which aired on December 14, 1990, and, unlike Filmation, did provide some closure to the series. The majority of the cartoon episodes were written by Jack Olesker, resulting in a somewhat tighter continuity than the prior series.

After 28 games over two seasons with the Capitals, Linden had scored only four goals and three assists. On November 10, 2001, the Capitals traded Linden, along with a second-round draft pick in either 2002 or 2003 (used to select Denis Grot), to the Canucks in exchange for their first round pick in 2002 (used to select Boyd Gordon) and a third-round pick in 2003 (later traded to the Edmonton Oilers, who selected Zack Stortini). Linden scored 34 points with Vancouver in 64 games, which included his 1,000th regular season game on March 26, 2002, against the Los Angeles Kings. In his first playoff series with Vancouver in six years, he scored a goal and four assists in six games. The 2002–03 season was Linden's first full season with the Canucks since 1996–97, though Linden sprained his knee in the season opener and had to miss two weeks.

The corresponding record for the London Underground (Tube Challenge) has had many holders since 1960. London and New York have always been the most notable systems for this record. Between 1967 and 1992, records for a few other subway networks were considered, attempted and appeared in the Guinness Books. Since 1993, only the London Underground record has been published with decreasing regularity, and Guinness only considered London and New York for this record category. However, since 2011, other systems have been considered again. The first other network to be granted a record was the Paris Métro; Alan Paul Jenkins achieved a time of 11 hours and 13 minutes for travelling to 270 stations (with 7 closed) on August 30, 1967. The next record was set on 13 August 2011 by Adham Fisher, who visited 300 stations in 13 hours, 37 minutes and 54 seconds. The Berlin U-Bahn had its first record set on May 2, 2014, by Michael Wurm, Henning Colsman-Freyberger, Rudolf von Grot and Oliver Ziemek.

The Brigade was formed in early June 1939, when the Polish Minister of Military Affairs, General Tadeusz Kasprzycki, gave order to transform the 1st Regiment of Mounted Rifles from the Garwolin garrison into a motorized unit. On June 10, 1939, Colonel Stefan Rowecki was appointed brigade commander (later, under the pseudonym "Grot" (spearhead), he became the first commander of the Home Army, and was killed by the Germans). The new unit was also based on other regiments, such as the 1st Rifle Regiment from Rembertów, the sapper battalion from Puławy and the 2nd Motorised Artillery Battalion from Stryj (8×75mm guns), which joined it on September 6. The unit was equipped with Polish-made TKS tankettes (13 tankettes, 2 of them with 20mm guns, 11th Recce Tank Company), and British-made light tanks Vickers E (17 machines, 12th Light Tank Company). The tankettes(except for the tankettes equipped with 20mm AT MG 38FK), were no match even to German PzKpfw II, and the Vickers E were outclassed by PzKpfw III and PzKpfw IV. On September 1, 1939, the Brigade left the barracks and concentrated its forces around Garwolin.

Almost topical for Russian Archive became the documentary analysis of the life and the work of Alexander Pushkin.Русский Архив at the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary Among the historians, essayists and critics who contributed to Russky Arkhiv regularly were Yakov Grot, Mikhail Yuzefovich, Alexander Vasilchikov, Dmitry Ilovaysky, Mikhail Longinov, Leonid Maykov, Sergey Sobolevsky, Nikolai Barsukov. Among its most valued publications were letters and diaries by numerous Decembrists, the notes of Count Henning Friedrich von Bassewitz (1713–1725), as well as Just Juel, the Danish ambassador at the Court of Peter the Great, the diaries of Pyotr Tolstoy on his 1697–1699 foreign trip, Friedrich Christian Weber's notes on Peter I's reforms, as well as the assorted diaries, memoirs and notes by Mikhail Antonovsky, Count Alexander de Ribaupierre, Nikolai Ilyinsky, Countess Edling, Count de Rochechouart, Hippolyte Auger, Nikolay Muravyov-Karsky, Count Mikhail Tolstoy, the poet Alexander Andreyev, Countess Antonina Bludova, general Grigory Filipson, the Saratov Governor Andrey Fadeyev, Baron Alexander von Nicolai, Nikolai Berg (on the Polish January Uprising), Prince Pyotr Vyazemsky (his Ostafyev Archives). The extensive memoirs by general Pavel Grabbe and playwright Stepan Zhikharev came out separately, as supplements.
