Phipps Bridge has a reputation for being a rough area, and in 2010 the chairman of the Residents' Association described the area as "out of control" after a spate of violent attacks occurring in quick succession. Ico can dispel these shadows using a stick or sword and pull Yorda free if she is drawn into a vortex. While the shadow creatures cannot harm Ico, the game is over if Yorda becomes fully engulfed in a vortex; the player restarts from a save point. The player will also restart from a save point if Ico falls from a large height.

For shear rate, it has been found that COBRs have an evenly distributed, five-fold reduction in shear rate relative to conventional tubular reactors; this is especially important for biological process given that high shear rates can damage microorganisms. For the case of mass transfer, COBR fluid mechanics allows for an increase in oxygen gas residence time. Furthermore, the vortexes created in the COBRs causes a gas bubble break-up and thus an increase in surface area for gas transfer.
Camber changing Fowler flaps had been used before on gliders, notably on the 1938 Akaflieg Hannover AFH-4 and the 1948 Cijan-Obad Orao II, though not fitted to this design's later version. Ritu Lalit came out with her debut novel, A Bowlful of Butterflies in 2011, followed by Hilawi, a fantasy thriller in 2012. Before her debut novel, two of her short stories collection Ripples, a compilation by Prashant Karhade, got published in 2009. This was swiftly followed in 2011 by her full-length novel A Bowlful of Butterflies, being long-listed for the Crossword Book Award. Lalit’s second work of fiction Hilawi, published by Popular Prakashan in 2012, is a fantasy thriller, which explores the fact that legends are not mere tales. After success of her debut novel A Bowlful of Butterflies and Hilawi, inspired by Panchtantra’s fables and the Vedic concept of energy vortexes in the human body, the author came out with her third novel Chakra: Chronicles of the Witch Way in May, 2013.
Both the Vampire and the Greif flew at the 3rd Rhön contests in the summer of 1922. It was expected than the Greif would out-perform the older Vampyr but despite encouraging early trials it did not; on the same day and under similar conditions the Vampyr flew for over three hours but the Greif could only manage 26 minutes. The cut-out in the leading edge for the pilot seems to have greatly increased the induced drag; the losses were much greater than those caused by similar sized trailing edge cut-outs on other designs, as the pressure differences between upper and lower surfaces and the strength of the associated lossy vortexes are smaller there. Over a hundred future animal species are described and illustrated in the book. Major groups include the "rabbucks", versatile descendants of rabbits filling the ecological niches of deer, zebras, giraffes and antelope; "gigantelopes", descendants of antelope filling niches held by elephants, giraffes, moose, musk oxen, rhinoceroses, and other large herbivores; "vortexes" and "porpins", descendants of penguins evolved to fill the aquatic niche of cetaceans; and the predatory rats, the major group of terrestrial predators and descendants of rats. There are also more bizarre creatures such as the "raboons", gigantic theropod-esque descendants of baboons, the "night stalker", a gigantic predatory leaf nosed bat native to Batavia, the "desert leaper", a giant dipodid and the "chiselhead", a descendant of the eastern gray squirrel that has evolved a wormlike shape and large incisors for chiseling into coniferous trees (hence its name).
These actions damage the boundaries between the dimensions, causing them to merge and characters to be displaced. When Robin (Scott Menville), Frodo (Yuri Lowenthal), and MetalBeard (Nick Offerman) are pulled into the vortexes, each unknowingly in possession of one of the Elements, Batman (Troy Baker), Gandalf the Grey (Tom Kane), and Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks) all jump in after them. The three get pulled into the same vortex and appear on Vorton, where the vortex generator they came out of explodes, prompting them to rebuild it. Aided by X-PO, the three use the generator to travel through the dimensions and search for the Foundation Elements and the five missing Keystones that power the generator (Shift, Chroma, Elemental Phase, Scale, and Locate) hoping to find their missing friends and stop Vortech's plan from succeeding in the process.

In his booklet, Kelder claims that while stationed in India, British army officer Colonel Bradford (a pseudonym) heard a story about a group of lamas who had apparently discovered a "Fountain of Youth". The "wandering natives", as he called them, told him of old men who inexplicably became healthy, strong, and full of "vigor and virility" after entering a particular lamasery. After retiring, Kelder's Colonel Bradford went on to discover the lamasery and lived with the lamas, where they taught him five exercises, which they called "rites". According to the booklet, the lamas describe seven spinning, "psychic vortexes" within the body: two of these are in the brain, one at the base of the throat, one on the right side of the body in the vicinity of the liver, one in the reproductive anatomy, and one in each knee.
The implication of combining these two negations is that by creating abstraction, one creates art, which, in turn, creates a point of distinction that unitary urbanism insists must be nullified. This confusion is also fundamental to the execution of unitary urbanism as it corrupts one's ability to identify where "function" ends and "play" (the "ludic") begins, resulting in what the Lettrist International and Situationist International believed to be a utopia where one was constantly exploring, free of determining factors. In "Formulary for a New Urbanism", Chtcheglov had written "Architecture is the simplest means of articulating time and space, of modulating reality, of engendering dreams". Similarly, the Situationists found contemporary architecture both physically and ideologically restrictive, combining with outside cultural influence, effectively creating an undertow, and forcing oneself into a certain system of interaction with their environment: "[C]ities have a psychogeographical relief, with constant currents, fixed points and vortexes which strongly discourage entry into or exit from certain zones".
Arriving on Foundation Prime, a planet located in the center of the Lego multiverse, Lord Vortech (Gary Oldman), a being who has the power to shapeshift and travel through dimensions, and his robotic minion X-PO (Joel McHale) seek the twelve Foundation Elements, the cornerstones of time and space itself, in a bid to merge all the dimensions into one under Vortech's control. These Elements, such as the Ruby Slippers, the One Ring, the Flux Capacitor, the Palantir, and Kryptonite, were scattered across the dimensions long ago, but gathered together at Foundation Prime can unlock the power to control all of the dimensions. When X-PO voices his doubts of Vortech's evil plan (as it is too dangerous to harness the Elements safely), Vortech decides that he no longer needs him and banishes him to the planet Vorton. Unfortunately for Vortech, his own body cannot handle too many more dimensional jumps, forcing him to open vortexes to the different dimensions and recruits their villains to help him search for the Elements while imprisoning the heroes pulled through them.
