This is due to the Walvis Ridge preventing cold Antarctic bottom waters from circulating the basin allowing for the sedimentation of carbonate materials, including microorganisms such as foraminifera and other calcareous microfossils. The Angola Basin is currently well circulated by warm and cold surface currents and undercurrents and is mostly influenced by the Benguela Current, the Equatorial Countercurrents, and the Angola Current.

It presents a succession of rocky areas relatively deserted by ships wanting to spare their nets, and of sandy flats and sub-aqueous dunes. The strong currents of the Channel are slowed around the rocky areas of the strait, with formation of countercurrents and calmer zones where many species can find shelter. In these calmer zones, the water is clearer than in the rest of the strait; thus algae can grow despite the average depth and help increase diversity in the local species – some of which are endemic to the strait.

In the early 20th century, Albert Mathews seminally correlated regeneration of a cnidarian polyp with the potential difference between polyp and stolon surfaces, and affected regeneration by imposing countercurrents. Amedeo Herlitzka, following on the wound electric currents footsteps of his mentor, du Bois-Raymond, theorized about electric currents playing an early role in regeneration, maybe initiating cell proliferation. Using electric fields overriding endogenous ones, Marsh and Beams astoundingly generated double-headed planarians and even reversed the primary body polarity entirely, with tails growing where a head previously existed. After these seed studies, variations of the idea that bioelectricity could sense injury and trigger or at least be a major player in regeneration have spurred over the decades until the present day.

Fuller has received four solo shows, including exhibits at the Paint Creek Center for the Arts entitled “Extraordinary Ordinary” in Michigan in 1998 and at the Chicago Cultural Center entitled “The Emancipation of the Common Object” in 2001. Fuller's work is included in group shows, including, in 2011, Recycled, Reclaimed, Repurposed in the Willis Tower lobby and The Department of Cultural Affairs presents CSI on the Boulevard. In 2010, Fuller's work was featured in exhibits such as Sculpture Invasion 2010 at Koehline Museum of art in Des Plaines, Illinois, and an outdoor sculpture show Countercurrents at Art Chicago in the Chicago Merchandise Mart. The same year, Fuller was commissioned to contribute to Comed's public display “Fine Art Fridges” in Chicago, Illinois.
