Gorllwyn is a subsidiary summit of Drygarn Fawr, located on a remote moorland plateau of the Cambrian Mountains. The summit is grassy and is surrounded by peat bog. There is a shelter cairn and a trig point. To the west is Drygarn Fawr, its large cairns making it a very distinctive feature in an otherwise featureless plateau.

Grimness is a cliff-girt headland on the island of South Ronaldsay, in the Orkney archipelago of Scotland. It is located between Honeysgeo and Skipi Geo and rises to a height of 34 metres above sea level. There is a trig point at the summit. The name is from the Old Norse and means Grim's headland.

The Townsville Astronomical Trigonometrical Station is situated on the northern boundary of a home units complex which occupies the summit of Stanton Hill. It is constructed of concrete and is cone shaped. The pillar stands high by in diameter with three holes in the top, which supported the theodolite. A paved area and gardens surround the trig station.

Yet an old trig point (triangulation station) remained to indicate that the view had once been visible for OS maps to be surveyed. Burnhope Seat is a high moorland fell in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in northern England. It lies between the heads of the Rivers Tees, South Tyne and Wear. The summit is crossed by the boundary between County Durham and Cumbria (historically Cumberland). The trig point is the highest point in historic County Durham.

Wills Neck was surveyed by schoolboys from Clifton College from 1922 and 1945, led by teacher William Cornish Badcock. They built a cairn at the highest point which has now been replaced, on exactly the same spot, by a modern Trig point. A beer brewed by the Quantock Brewery has been named Wills Neck after the hill.

The village is surrounded by low hills, which form the highest land in the immediate area. A trig point at 156 m is located to the south east of the village at SJ549438. Nearby villages include Marbury and Wrenbury. The South Cheshire Way (long-distance footpath) runs through the village, and Bishop Bennet Way (bridleway) terminates there.

There is a public car park just northeast of the trig point. Otherwise access is limited due to the difficult terrain. There are public footpaths along the perimeter of the heath and one along the line of the dismantled railway in the south of the area. Trail leaflets describing walks on the heath are available from Dorset Wildlife Trust.

Trig point on Fforest Fach Fforest Fach is a small area of unenclosed land within Brecon Beacons National Park southwest of Sennybridge in the county of Powys, Wales. Translating from Welsh as 'little forest', it is named in opposition to the much larger area of unenclosed land to the south which is known as Fforest Fawr or the 'great forest'. Whilst Fforest Fawr and Fforest Fach have been distinct areas for many centuries, the odd situation now arises where Fforest Fach now finds itself within Fforest Fawr Geopark, the boundaries of which are drawn rather more widely than those of the traditional royal hunting forest. The hill possesses two indistinct summits, the higher of which at 382m is in the south whilst that to the north at 381m is crowned by a trig point.

An approach from the east starts from the B847 road at grid reference and goes past a bothy and a deer fence before going steeply up to climb Coire Odhar and reach the summit. Beinn a’ Chuallaich is a fine viewpoint, having a topographic prominence of 527 metres, it is the highest point for some distance with Schiehallion, over seven km to the SE being the only hill to interrupt the distant view. There is a fine full length view of Loch Rannoch and the Ben Alder massif to the NW. The highest point of the hill is marked by an Ordnance Survey trig point but the highlight of the summit is the three-metre-high cairn built from quartzite boulders which stands 20 metres SE of the trig point.

There is a trig site on what remains to this day, Mikotahi point. Mikotahi had a neighbouring stack that was connected to mainland at the base of Paritutu. The people from Moturoa called it Fishing Rock. With caves, rockpools and surrounding beaches it was mostly destroyed from excavations for the power station cooling water inlet and land reclamation for the site.

It is named after the hamlet of Weston to the northeast. The summit is marked by a trig point just north of the A 356, and there is a transmission mast about 100 metres to the northwest. To the east the terrain drops steeply towards Corscombe. To the southwest it descends gently to Beaminster Down before dropping sharply at Mintern's Hill towards Beaminster.

A bridleway crosses the hill just below the summit, whilst the South West Coast Path makes its way down the steep hillside to the beach heading for Durdle Door. At the summit is a tumulus and trig point.

A community hall was opened on 13 December 1903, and soon a post office, telephone facilities, a store, a butcher and a blacksmith were also operating in the village. Tututawa Road at this time crossed a saddle near the Tututawa trig, and ran down the Tewheniwheni valley to complete a loop to Tewheniwheni on Mangaehu Road. The now defunct Waitere Road provided a link to Omoana, climbing steeply to the Waitere trig and following the northern reaches of the Kahaora Range where a number of families were settled. By 1906 it became clear that 80 hectares was not sufficient for settlers to make a living and that year saw a number of original settlers leave. The Puniwhakau Dairy Company, a local co-operative, had taken over the creamery from the Crown Dairy Company in October 1905, but by 1911 had amassed an overdraft of £2,800.

The summit is 305 metres (1,001 ft) above sea level and is marked by an Ordnance Survey trig point. It is the second highest point on the Mendip Hills. Pen Hill is home to the Mendip TV Mast which is 281 metres (922 ft) high. Pen Hill provides views in all directions, particularly to the south, with views to the City of Wells and Wells Cathedral (approximately distant).

The site receives over 60,000 visitors every year; people come to visit the monument, admire the views or engage in walking, jogging or photography. The Trust has placed a geocache at the site. The Penshaw Bowl, an Easter egg rolling competition for children, takes place on the hill every Maundy Thursday; this tradition is over a century old.

Milnthorpe, Cumbria: Cicerone. . Its highest point at 2379 feet (or 725 m) is marked by a trig point which is located towards the western side of the summit plateau. The hill drains to the north into the catchment of the Afon Crai and to the south and west into that of the River Tawe. Fan Fraith is a nearby hill which can be considered a subsidiary top of Fan Gyhirych.

The wall ditch at this point was not completed when first cut. At a point due north of the trig point, only a small amount of topsoil has been removed. A short distance west of this point, significant whinstone blocks remain in the ditch, with others deposited on its northern lip. One large rock provides clues to the methods used by the Legionary engineers to cut the rock.

Belmont Regional Park is a Wellington Regional park located between Lower Hutt and Porirua, New Zealand. It is the largest of the Wellington Regional parks, stretching close to from Wellington Harbour to Haywards and to Porirua, containing farm land, native bush, and peaks up to (Belmont Trig). There are several entrances from the Hutt Valley side and two on the Porirua side. Some tracks permit mountain biking and horse riding.

Mynydd Marchywel is a 418-metre-high hill in the Neath Port Talbot area in South Wales. Its summit is marked both by a cairn and a trig point. The larger part of the hill is cloaked in modern forestry through which numerous streams fall away westward to the River Tawe, eastward to the River Dulais and southward into the Clydach, the latter two being tributaries of the River Neath.

Kincorth Hill Trig Point Kincorth is a suburb located to the south of Aberdeen, Scotland. The name is a corruption of the Scottish Gaelic "Ceann Coirthe", which probably refers to an old pillar or standing stone (coirthe). Kincorth is known as the garden estate of Aberdeen. It also has the Kincorth hill nature reserve known locally as the Gramps (Grampian mountains)The area is served by local high school Lochside Academy.

View from the south west Burney is a hill in Cumbria, England, to the north of the A5092 road between Greenodd and Broughton-in-Furness. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches and has a trig point at the summit. It is also known as Great Burney, and a slight rise on the north ridge is named Little Burney.

Church Flatts Farm in Coton in the Elms, South Derbyshire, is the furthest place from the sea in the UK (). In April 1936 the first Ordnance Survey trig point was sited at Cold Ashby in Northamptonshire. The Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts and The Wildlife Trusts are based next to the River Trent and Newark Castle railway station. The National Centre for Earth Observation is at the University of Leicester.

The summit area of Black Down is known as Beacon Batch. It is the site of Bronze Age round barrows, one of which also anchors the concrete trig point. All of the barrows show signs of being opened in the past, but the only recorded excavation was done by Rev J. Skinner in 1820. The main group of barrows consists of nine bowl barrows, one bell barrow and one disc barrow.

Mynydd-y-Glog in the evening light. Mynydd-y-glog is a hill just east of the village of Penderyn in the northern corner of the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff in south Wales. It lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. Its summit plateau rises to a height of 389m / 1277 ft at OS grid ref SN 982088, a spot marked by a trig point.

There is trig point at the summit as well as a cairn and cist. The course of a dismantled railway runs around the hill to the south, evidence of the mining that used to be carried out in the area. On Kilmar Tor's northern flank is Twelve Men's Moor with Trewortha Tor and Hawk's Tor beyond the saddle. To the southeast is Bearah Tor and, to the south, Langstone Downs.

Chwarel y Fan is a peak in the Black Mountains in south-eastern Wales. It is the highest rise on the long ridge which extends southeastwards from Rhos Dirion. The ridge continues southeastwards to the lesser summit of Bal-Mawr whose top is adorned by a trig point at above sea level. A further 1 km southeast along the ridge is the lesser top of Bal-Bach at a height of just over .

In 1890 a detachment of armed soldiers raided Pukekawa and arrested and incarcerated Tawhaio's secretary, Kerei, for the destruction of a surveyor's trig on Pukekawa. Kerei was arrested without resistance in the presence of the Maori King to his distress. King Tawhaio later complained to the New Zealand Government that they had broken the 1880s peace agreement when the Kingites had surrendered all their guns. One account described it as "electioneering tactics".

Summit cross. From the Italian side the Mongioia can be reached starting from the village of Sant'Anna (1,850 m, Comune of Bellino). Up to the Bivacco Franco Boerio (a wooden mountain shelter built in 1991, 3,089 m) one must follow marked foothpaths. From there on some passage tracks, with an easy climb passage, allow to reach the metallic cross and the trig point on the summit (way up: 4-4.30 hours from Sant'Anna).

Waun-oer is a mountain in Snowdonia, North Wales, situated approximately four miles to the south-west of Aran Fawddwy. It is one of the peaks in the Dyfi hills, a subgroup of the Cadair Idris group. It is a top of Maesglase and the summit consists of a trig point that crowns an uneven grassy plateau. It is connected to Cribin Fawr to the east and Mynydd Ceiswyn to the south.

From the east the Grisedale road give access to the moor near Riggs giving an easy to follow route up to the trig point by simply following the wall. Once on the open fell there are no established routes to the summit, since the slopes are mostly gentle. Baugh Fell does not share the popularity of the nearby Lake District or the Yorkshire Three Peaks, and even on bank holiday weekends it is mostly unfrequented.

A hill with a trig point pillar to the east of Cold Overton Park Wood is, at 197m (646 ft), the highest point in the county of Rutland, England. The summit is southwest of the Glebe Farm radio relay mast on the road between Oakham and Knossington, and adjacent to the county boundary with Leicestershire. From the peak, there are views of Rutland Water. It falls within the historic parkland of Flitteriss Park.

From the village centre there is walking access to the 100-mile-long trail, the South Downs Way. From Chantry Hill or Kithurst Hill there are views across the English Channel to the south and opposite, to the North Downs. On a clear day you can see the Isle of Wight. Kithurst Hill which rises steeply above the village is marked at the summit by a trig point, 699 feet (213m) above sea level.

From a distance it looks like a huge lump. The summit itself is known as Carnedd Bachgen, named after the ancient cairn, Carnedd y Bachgen (which lies just north-east of the summit), and is the highest point at the north end of a wide plateau. There is a trig point and a substantial shelter cairn. The mountain rises from the Migneint moorland and looks like a bulky heathery "lump" from most directions.

Bunubunu (Rocky Creek), this creek is associated with a File Snake Ancestor. Warralungku (The McArthur River Crossing) and Mabunji, a set of specific rocks at the McArthur River Crossing that carries the imprint of the Hill Kangaroo's tail and feet. The area of Borroloola belongs to members of the Rrumburriya clan.

Blacklorg Hill lies roughly in the centre of this hill area with the Afton Reservoir just to the west of it. The main rivers radiate out from this central area in all directions. To the northwest its escarpment drops steeply in to the Blackmore Vale and Stour Valley, whilst to the southeast the woods of Turnworth Clump and Ringmoor are bracketed by two more ridges, Ibberton Long Down and Turnworth Down, forming a horseshoe with Bell Hill. Another spur runs east from Turnworth Down to Shillingstone Hill, site of a quarry and a popular cross-country race. A trig point on the Wessex Ridgeway marks this subsidiary summit.

Steeple Rock, Wellington Harbour Steeple Rock is the largest rock of Barrett Reef at the west of the entrance to Wellington Harbour, rising above sea level. The rock plays a role in warning ships off the dangerous reef. It is the location of a marine light and an unbeaconed trig station (‘Steeple Rock Light’, geodetic code B0XX). Its Māori name is Te Aroaro-o-Kupe (The front of Kupe or The presence of Kupe).

Mynydd Bedwellte is the name given to the broad ridge of high ground between the Rhymney Valley (Welsh: Cwm Rhymni) and the Sirhowy Valley in the Valleys region of South Wales. It straddles the boundary of the unitary areas of Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent. The broad-topped ridge runs northwest to southeast and achieves a summit height of above sea-level, at a point crowned by a trig point at OS grid ref SO 145060.

Fan Frynych is the northernmost peak of the Fforest Fawr massif in the Brecon Beacons National Park, South Wales. It is classed as a subsidiary summit of Fan Fawr and makes up half of the Craig Cerrig-gleisiad and Fan Frynych National Nature Reserve with its sister peak Craig Cerrig-gleisiad. However, the summit is overtopped by several large spoil heaps from the nearby china clay workings, the highest of which rises to 355 m, therefore creating an 'artificial' summit 43 metres higher than the natural one.

Crug Mawr is a hill in the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park in southern Powys, Wales. Its summit at a height of 550m (1,805 ft) is marked by a trig point. The peak sits high above the valleys of the Grwyne Fawr and Grwyne Fechan to the north of the more well-known Sugar Loaf. The views from here across the Black Mountains are wide-ranging and also extend eastwards across Monmouthshire.

Ingalba Nature Reserve (4013.5 ha) lies 10 kilometres west of Temora on the Burley Griffin Way, and was gazetted in three stages. On 17 July 1970, 3,440.5 ha. of the former Temora State Forest was gazetted, and further additions followed. On 1 October 1976 (16.19 ha) of the former Trigonometrical Reserve at Wharrun Trig was adjoined to Ingalba, and on 7 January 1983 additional amounts (556.8 ha) were added following the acquisition of private land.

Llangollen Canal at Marbury Lock The civil parish has an area of . The terrain is undulating with low hills. The hamlet of Norbury stands on a low hill, and the high point of the parish is at an elevation of immediately to its west, with a trig point and a covered reservoir. The Llangollen Canal runs along or just inside the southern boundary, before cutting into the south-east corner of the parish.

The terrain is relatively flat, with an average elevation of around . The land slopes gently from the A530, with a high point of at the junction with the lane to Sound Heath, down to the canal at . A trig point at is located just west of Mickley Hall. Finnaker Brook has its source in the parish, and there are multiple unnamed drains, as well as many small meres or ponds scattered across the area.

The summit of the fell has two separate tops divided by a shallow valley, the south top is slightly higher and is marked by an Ordnance Survey trig point and a considerable wind shelter while the northern top has a large cairn which is visible for miles around and gives extensive views of the Loweswater Fells. This large cairn is thought to be the boundary marker from which the fell takes its name.

Foel Cwmcerwyn is the highest point of the Preseli Hills and of Pembrokeshire. It lies within the borders of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park although it is 10 km from the sea. A path leads to the summit from the village of Rosebush in the south-west. A trig point and a number of cairns are dotted across the summit area, and there is a disused quarry on the hill's western slopes.

The summit has two high points, the true summit is marked by a small cairn while 80 metres to the NW is the site of the OS trig point which has been pushed over and is lying on its side, surrounded by a wind shelter. The best views from the summit are to the south, there being an aerial view of Glen Lyon and a good spectacle of the Ben Lawers range.

Pen Cerrig-calch is a subsidiary summit of Waun Fach in the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park in southern Powys, Wales. Its summit, at a height of 701m (2,300 ft), is marked by a trig point. The peak sits high above the River Usk valley as it narrows above the small town of Crickhowell.The views from here are wide-ranging and extend as far as the Beacons themselves to the west.

Bow Hill is the highest point on a north-to-south running and steep-sided ridge and there is a trig point at the top. Its crest and upper slopes are densely wooded, but the lower slopes are open downland. Various tracks and bridleways run pass close to the summit and there is a ridgeway that divides just northeast of the summit heading to Stoughton in one direction and West Stoke in the other.

Its population is mainly commuters and their families, although farming is important to the local economy. The village has its own bowls and cricket clubs, and is within the catchment area of the Guilsborough schools. Lying on the contour line Cold Ashby is said to be the highest village in Northamptonshire. The British Ordnance Survey's first trig point, the triangular post used by surveyors, was erected on 18 April 1936 near Cold Ashby.

Bache Hill () is a subsidiary summit of Rhos Fawr or Great Rhos, in the Radnor Forest in Wales. It is located to the east of Black Mixen. The summit is marked by a trig point built on an ancient burial mound, probably of Bronze Age date, like most of the summit cairns and round barrows in Wales. Some controversy arises from the burial mound; in that 610 metres might be the top of the man-made mound.

Uamh Bheag is a hill in the Glen Artney Hills range immediately south of the Highland Boundary Fault, part of the Central Lowlands of Scotland. The highest hill of the range, the summit is twin-topped; the lower east top has a trig point. Until 2017, it was not certain which hill was higher, and subsequently which was the Donald and Graham. That year, a survey was conducted which proved the west top to be approximately 2.4m higher.

With automation, the lightkeepers were no longer needed and finally withdrawn. This left the area unprotected. During the 1940s correspondence concerning the lease of the headland and cottages outlined certain conditions. A lease of a portion of the defence reserve including part of the lighthouse property required an agreement that no structures be erected or any other work be carried out that will obstruct the view of or from the lighthouse, Trig Station or Gledhill Lookout Cairn.

Martinsell Hill rises about 2km east-northeast of the village of Oare, 2km northwest of the village of Wootton Rivers, and about 4km north-northeast of the town of Pewsey. The hill is part of an east-west ridge on the northern flanks of the Vale of Pewsey and overlooks the Salisbury Avon and the Kennet & Avon Canal. The Mid Wilts Way runs along the back of the ridge. There is a trig point at the top.

The reservoir was built in 1925 on top of a limestone ridge adjacent to the Buckland Hill lighthouse. In 1935 the reservoir capacity was expanded from to . The Buckland Hill obelisk, believed to have been constructed as a trig point and used in the hydrographic surveys of Gage Roads and Cockburn Sound in , became an island when the reservoir was enlarged. When the reservoir was roofed in 1983 the obelisk was moved west to its current location.

To the south is Morridge, with a trig point at at Merryton Low which provides views across the Cheshire plain and The Roaches. Also in this area is Ramshaw Rocks, a part of the range which includes Hen Cloud and The Roaches. The Winking Man is a rock outcrop on Ramshaw Rocks that resembles a human face in profile; its eyehole appears to 'wink' to passing travellers on the A53. The River Dane rises within the parish.

Limestone Corner is an area of Hadrian's Wall (and associated defences) at its most northerly point, in present-day northern England. It represents the most northerly point of the Roman Empire, outside the two periods during which the Antonine Wall was occupied by the Roman military. Other notable features at Limestone Corner are the wall ditch at this point, which was never completely excavated, a Roman camp and the site of Milecastle 30. Also present is a trig point.

The Towallum Basalt is a thick layer near Nymboida, Glenreagh and Moleton trig station overlying the Marburg formation. The Walloon Coal Measures forms a U shape around the east, south and west sides of the basin. It consists of claystone, shale, siltstone, arenites, and coal seams and the plant fossils in it show a Jurassic age. The next layer of rocks in the basin forming a nested U shape in its exposure is the Kangaroo Creek Sandstone.

Horsenden Hill Horsenden Hill (; ) is a hill and open space, located between the Perivale, Sudbury, and Greenford areas of West London. It is in the London Borough of Ealing, close to the boundary with the London Borough of Brent. It is one of the higher eminences in the local area, rising to 85m (276 ft) above sea level, and the summit forms part of the site of an ancient hillfort. It is the site of a trig point, TP4024.

Bwlch Mawr is a hill near the northeastern corner of the Llŷn Peninsula in the community of Clynnog in the county of Gwynedd in North Wales. Its name is an odd one for a hill, as it means "big pass" in English. It forms the eastern half of a wider upland area, the highest point of which is the 522 m summit of Gyrn Ddu, though it is Bwlch Mawr on which the Ordnance Survey constructed a trig point.

The summit area of the hill is mapped as open access under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 thereby giving walkers freedom to explore it on foot. There are additionally a couple of byways which traverse the eastern and southern margins of the summit plateau. The unfenced minor public road from Nelson to Senghenydd runs along the northwestern margin of the hill. A rough track passes by the trig point which marks the summit.

The Mokohinau Islands (Pokohinau) are a small group of islands that lie off the northeast coast of New Zealand's North Island. The islands are 100 km (62 mi) northeast of Auckland, northwest of Great Barrier Island and approximately east of Bream Head. The main islands of the group include Fanal Island (Motukino), Burgess Island (Pokohinu), Flax Island (Hokoromea), and Trig Island (Atihau). Most of them are managed by the Department of Conservation as nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries.

Trig Point Kithurst Hill Sport and leisure facilities include a recreation ground with football and cricket pitches and a leisure centre. Storrington has a Non-League football club Storrington F.C., who play at the recreation ground. Storrington is thinly disguised as the home of the home team in Hugh de Sélincourt's 1924 novel The Cricket Match, complete with chestnut trees and duck pond. In later editions a cartoon map of the village is used as end pages.

Trig point and cairn on the southern peak of Ben Vorlich – the highest summit is marked by a cairn further on. Ben Vorlich (Scottish Gaelic: Beinn Mhùrlaig) is a Scottish mountain situated between the northernmost section of Loch Lomond and Loch Sloy. It is one of the Arrochar Alps, though it lies separate from the other peaks in the range, as indicated by the large topographic prominence. It is the highest point of the historic county of Dunbartonshire.

It was placed on the Greenwich Meridian and its > purpose was to indicate the direction of true north from the transit > telescope of the Royal Observatory. The Greenwich Meridian as changed in > 1850 and adopted by international agreement in 1884 as the line of zero > longitude passes 19 feet to the east of this pillar. At that point (19 feet / 5.8m east) there is an Ordnance Survey trig point placed here to mark the top of the hill.

Mount Pleasant ( or Tauhinukorokio) is the highest elevation in the eastern Port Hills in Christchurch, New Zealand. It once held a Māori pā, but there was little left of it when European settlers first arrived in the 1840s. The hill was first used as a sheep run, and became the base trig station for the survey of Canterbury. It was also used as a signal station to make residents aware of ships coming into Lyttelton Harbour.

Gisborough Moor is a moor in England's North York Moors, lying to the south of the town of Guisborough. The summit is a broad flat ridge, with the highest point at the southern end, some south of a trig point. It is crossed by a number of footpaths leading between the Cleveland Way and Commondale and other settlements to the south. Highcliff Nab, near the moor's north-western corner, overlooks Guisborough from the edge of the scarp.

Helsby Hill The village sits at the foot of a wooded sandstone hill above sea level. Helsby Hill has steep cliffs on the northern and western sides and is a prominent landmark rising above the Cheshire Plain and overlooking the Mersey estuary. Much of the hill is owned and managed by the National Trust. It is the site of Helsby hill fort, an ancient British hillfort, and more recently acquired a concrete pillar trig point on its summit.

Hameldown Tor has fantastic far reaching views and is one of the tallest tors in this part of Dartmoor. It has a trig point on the highest point of the ridge at 1736ft (529m). View from the Hameldown memorial The tor is also the site of a memorial to four crew members of an RAF bomber who were killed in a crash in 1941. The pilot's mother had the memorial erected the year after the crash.

Trig point, Tregonning Hill The main vegetation types on the hill are western lowland heath and scrub. The heath consists of a mixture of heather (Calluna vulgaris), bell heather (Erica cinerea) and western gorse (Ulex gallii] with cross–leaved heath (Erica tetralix) replacing E. cinerea in wet areas. Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) and tormentil (Potentilla erecta) also occur. On the deeper soils European gorse (Ulex europaeus), bracken (Pteridium aquilinum) and bramble (Rubus fruticosus) are the dominant scrub species.

There are several natural caves. The two-storey cave known as Mad Allen's Hole (on the southerly hill at ) has an entrance partially blocked by boulders and is accessible via a circular hole at the rear. Some of the streams on the eastern side of the hill have been diverted into the Errochty catchwater as part of the Tummel hydro- electric power scheme."The Corbetts And Other Scottish Hills", Scottish Mountaineering Club, Page 82 Gives geographical and route information. This section is often regarded one of the best ridge walks in Scotland. There is no technical rock-climbing on the ridge, but a good head for heights, appropriate footwear, and some scrambling ability are required. (In winter a rope may be needed to safeguard the descent from the ridge.) The Saddle has two summits: the westerly one has a trig point, but it is not obvious which one is the true summit. Munro baggers had better climb both.

The former Stewart's Creek Gaol Gatehouse (1890-1893) and the Central Observation Tower (or Trig Tower) (1897), are the oldest surviving intact prison buildings in Queensland. The Gatehouse pre- dates the former Women's Prison at Boggo Road in Brisbane () (Boggo Road Gaol), by about a decade. They provide rare surviving physical evidence of late nineteenth century approaches to prison design and administration in Queensland.

Trichrug Trichrug (also referred to as Pen-y-bicws) is a hill four miles east of Llandeilo and 3 miles south of Llangadog in the county of Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales. It lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. Its summit at a height of 415m above sea level is marked by a trig point.Ordnance Survey Explorer map OL12 'Brecon Beacons National Park: western area' It is a Marilyn with a prominence of 191 metres.

The summit of Black Edge is marked by a trig point which is about southwest of Dove Holes and north of the historic spa town of Buxton. It lies in open moorland on the gritstone crest of the eponymous escarpment that runs roughly north to south. There are alternative summits at SK062771 and SK060763. In addition the ground 130 metres to the north and the ruined building 650 metres south-southeast are at the same height as the summit.

The trig point has been made the centrepiece of a view-finder; the highest point is a few hundred metres away to the north-west. Nearby are located the remains of the medieval Thurnham Castle, as well as traces of an Iron Age settlement. The name, taken from the village of Detling that sit at the foot of the hill, derives from Old English and means "hill at the settlement of the family of a man called Dyttel".

The top of the fell is dotted with grey tors of rock and two of these give the fell twin tops of equal height, the eastern top has an Ordnance Survey trig point. There are also several small tarns on the summit as well as some fence posts which can be an aid to navigation. The view from the summit is very good with the Buttermere valley well seen to the north west and the Scafell massif standing out to the south.

Milnthorpe, Cumbria: Cicerone. . The hill is in the form of a broad flat-topped ridge whose summit lies at 663 m (2175 ft) and is crowned by a trig point. Its southern ridge is the least steep whereas its northern aspect is steep and craggy, having hosted a small glacier in the last ice age. A prominent modern cairn marks the northern end of the plateau whilst a couple of ancient cairns are to be found on its eastern slopes.

The site has not and will not be upgraded to digital television. There is a Central Mapping Authority Trig at the top of Moeyan Hill. There is a walking track leading through Moeyan Hill Reserve however, the trail does not lead to the top of the hill, which is privately owned farmland. From the top of the hill the ocean is visible, 4 km to the east, as well as Coolangatta Mountain, Cambewarra Mountain, Gerroa and parts of Berry and its environs.

Twelve O'Clock rock, Trink Hill A Round barrow exists at the summit, an OS Trig point within it. A stone named after the nearby Giew Mine (or Trink Hill menhir) stands on the western slope of the hill. Twelve O'Clock Rock is a granite outcrop, supposed to be an unusual logan stone in that it can only be rocked at midnight. Wheal Sister mine, covering both Trencrom and Trink hills was a consolidation of four tin mines in October 1875.

Access to Hadrian's Wall, the wall ditch, and the trig pillar is only via the Hadrian's Wall Path. There is no access from the B6318 Military Road. The nearest parking is at Brocolitia Roman fort (also known as Carrawburgh) to the west, from where the Hadrian's Wall Path can be accessed. The vallum and Roman camp are on private land, as is Milecastle 30, though it is possible to view the site of the milecastle from the Hadrian's Wall Path.

Coity Mountain (also spelled Coety Mountain, Welsh: Mynydd Coety) is a flat- topped mountain in the South Wales Valleys, between Blaenavon and Abertillery. The highest points of both Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent unitary authorities are at the summit of Coity Mountain. The summit is also known as Twyn Ffynhonnau Goerion. Some to the southeast lies a major subsidiary top of the hill, Mynydd Varteg Fawr (549m) at the southeastern end of whose broad ridge is a trig point at 544m.

Major-General Malcolm Neynoe MacLeod (23 May 1882-1 August 1969) was Director General of the Ordnance Survey from 1935 to 1943. In 1935 he started the retriangulation of Great Britain, an immense task which involved erecting concrete triangulation pillars (trig points) on prominent (often inaccessible) hilltops throughout Britain. As well as being an immense physical task, it was also an extremely complex mathematical undertaking. MacLeod can fairly be said to be the creator of the Ordnance Survey in its modern form.

In turn, Trig is suspected of having ties to an extremist group. Incidentally, Donny's girlfriend, Julie, is involved with this group of war protestors. Donny discovers that his sympathies lie closer to Trig's friends, and rather than rat out his own man, Donny defies naval investigators, buying a one-way ticket to the front lines of the Vietnam war. Just before being shipped out, his commanding officer who admired Donny's courage, gives him enough money to run off with Julie and marry.

A rough track heads west, passing between the northern side of An Sgùrr and the shoreline. About three-quarters of the way along the side of the ridge there is a gully; a fairly easy scramble allows access to the summit ridge. The route now almost doubles back on itself, heading east to reach the summit, which is crowned by a trig point. The climb, from ferry terminal to the Nose of An Sgùrr and back, will take at least 4 hours.

White markers supposedly point out the way, but more often result in leading the walker astray. The second trig points faces the empty vastness of the eastern Forest of Bowland, with the summits of Wolfhole Crag, White Hill and the distant Ingleborough breaking the horizon. A second path approaches Ward's Stone from Tarnbrook, where limited parking is available. On the southern slope of this hill are Thorn Crag, Hell Crag and Long Crag, rocky outcroppings that are popular with climbers.

The northern end, Morridge Top, is about a mile south of Flash. A few miles south at Merryton Low, near Upper Hulme, there is a trig point at height . The southern end of Morridge is at Onecote and Bradnop. Morridge was pasture land in medieval times, and dairy and sheep farming still predominates. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Sir Edward Aston, his son Walter, 1st Lord Aston and his son Walter, 2nd Lord Aston attempted large- scale enclosure of Morridge.

Mynydd Llangatwg or Llangattock Mountain is a hill in the Brecon Beacons National Park in the county of Powys, south Wales. It is named from the village of Llangatwg (or 'Llangattock') which sits in the valley of the River Usk to the north of it. It is essentially an undulating plateau rising in the west to a height of at and in the east to a height of at Hen Dy-aderyn / Twr Pen-cyrn. This spot is marked by a trig point.

The highest summit is towards the northern end, and is crowned by a trig point. The ridge is well separated from the other hills of Hoy, and both the other Marilyns on the island have high topographic prominence. Ward Hill is separated from Cuilags by the Glens of Kinnaird, and from Knap of Trowieglen by the glen carrying the road between Moaness and Rackwick, in which lies the Dwarfie Stane. Ward Hill may be climbed from a variety of starting points.

Black Down is the highest hill in the Mendip Hills, Somerset, in south-western England. Black Down lies just a few miles eastward of the Bristol Channel at Weston-super-Mare, and provides a view over the Chew Valley. The summit is marked with an Ordnance Survey trig point, the base of which has been rebuilt by the Mendip Hills AONB authority. The shortest route of ascent goes from the Burrington Combe car park and is approximately 1 km long.

Urra Moor is the highest moor in the North York Moors at above sea level, in the national park in North Yorkshire, England. The name is a mix of Old English and Old Norse (horh and haugr) which means The Dirty Hill. The name of Urra Moor applies to the moor as a whole; the summit itself is known as Round Hill. The summit is crowned by a trig point, and a track passes about to the south of this point.

Cadair Fawr is a hill in the northern corner of the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. The 485m high summit at OS grid ref SN 978123 is marked by a trig point. Cadair Fawr is the highest point of a broad ridge known as Cefn Cadlan which forms the northern edge of Cwm Cadlan, a valley which itself runs east-northeastwards from the village of Penderyn.

About Dutch Trig® Trials with the American elm have been very successful; in a six-year experiment with the American elm in Denver, CO, annual Dutch elm disease losses declined significantly after the first year from 7 percent to between 0.4 and 0.6 percent; a greater and more rapid reduction in disease incidence than the accompanying tree sanitation and plant health care programs. Preventive treatment is usually only justified when a tree has unusual symbolic value or occupies a particularly important place in the landscape.

This raises it above neighbouring Horse Head Moor (609 m), making it the Marilyn in place of Horse Head Moor. Between the summit and a trig point ( to the south west) lies Birks Tarn, which is one or the largest tarns in the Yorkshire Dales. It is prevented form leaking through the bedrock underneath by its impermeable layers and additionally held back by the peaty soil. The section at the top of the fell is a wide ridge that offers excellent walking and "outstanding views".

The southern summit of the mountain has an abandoned triangulation station with a collapsed radio tower, while the top of the mountain has a trig tower for taking bearings and measurements. At the top of the mountain one can get great views of Brisbane and Moreton Bay. For many years the undeveloped bushland around this hilly area was empty, except for the occasional dirt track. This was partly due to the proximity to the Belmont Rifle Range, around which access is restricted for safety reasons.

The tribe's name can probably be broken down into two parts. 'Duro' may come from 'dubro', which derives from the British word for water ('dour' or 'dwr'), although it is much more likely to be 'duro', which means 'hard', and 'trig' means inhabitant. That would produce something along the lines of 'the inhabitants of the hard [ground]' or the 'hill-top dwellers'. Both meanings would seem to be very appropriate for the chalky soil of the Dorset Downs and the region's many hill forts.

Mississippi Power's Kemper Project was designed as a lignite-fuel IGCC plant, generating a net 524 MW of power from syngas, while capturing over 65% of CO2 generated using the Selexol process. The technology at the Kemper facility, Transport-Integrated Gasification (TRIG), was developed and is licensed by KBR. The CO2 will be sent by pipeline to depleted oil fields in Mississippi for enhanced oil recovery operations. The plant missed all its targets and plans for "clean coal" generation were abandoned in July 2017.

Seaborough Hill is a prominent ridge, high, on the Dorset-Somerset border in the Yeovil Scarplands in southwestern England. It has a prominence of which classifies it as one of the Tumps. Seaborough Hill rises immediately north of the village of Seaborough and about 3 kilometres southwest of the town centre of Crewkerne. A minor road traverses the summit from north to south and there is a trig point (201 m) by the lane at the northern end of the summit ridge, near Honeydown Farm.

Mynydd Troed Mynydd Troed is a hill in the Black Mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Powys, south Wales. Its name literally translates to "Foot Mountain," based how it appears when viewed from the Allt Mawr ridge. It lies 3 miles south of Talgarth and 2 miles northeast of the village of Llangors on the western side of the range. Its summit at the northern end of a northwest to southeast aligned ridge reaches 609m above sea level and is crowned by a trig point.

The long-standing designation "The Three Peaks" is well known locally, and in past times nationally. However, there are now a number of "National" Three Peaks adventure challenges involving Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike (respectively the highest summits in Scotland, Wales and England). The epithet "Yorkshire" is therefore now commonly added to differentiate Yorkshire's Three Peaks from those (although Whernside is partially in Cumbria, with the summit trig point being narrowly on the Cumbria side, the whole mountain is within the historic county of Yorkshire).

Mobile phone reception is excellent from the summit for Vodafone and O2 users and possibly many others as there is a direct line of sight with the Durris mast. There is a steep drop to the East of the summit so in icy conditions care should be taken. Limited shelter can be taken beside large boulders and a trig point allows walkers to collect their bearings. In 2002 the footbridge at the base of Mount Keen on the Glen Tanar side was washed away.

Cefn Gwyngul is a long broad ridge to the east of the Rhondda Fach valley in Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough in South Wales. Its 470m high summit is marked by an ancient cairn known as Carn-y-Pigwn, on which is a more recent trig point. Much of the hill is cloaked by modern forestry plantations though its southwestern flank between Porth and Ferndale has not been coniferised. The earthworks of a Roman camp remain on the ridge at OS grid ref ST 002982.

Mynydd Carn-y-cefn. Summit trigpoint looking west Mynydd Carn-y-cefn () is the name given to the broad ridge of high ground between the Ebbw Vale and the valley of the Ebbw Fach in the Valleys region of South Wales. It lies within the unitary area of Blaenau Gwent, formerly Monmouthshire. The broad-topped ridge runs NNW-SSE and achieves a summit height of at a point crowned by a trig point at OS grid ref SO 187084 between Ebbw Vale and Blaina.

The hill once held a Ngāti Māmoe pā. Approximately 300 years ago, it was overtaken by Te Rakiwhakaputa of Ngāi Tahu. When the first European settlers arrived, the remains of the pā could still be seen a little to the north of the peak. Thomas chose the hill as the base trig station for the survey of the Canterbury settlement. The first European to farm on the mountain was Joseph Greenwood of Purau, who took up land in 1846 and built a stockman's hut near the peak.

To ease GPS measurement the new system was slightly shifted to become geocentric (the origin point of the system coincides with the centre of the Earth). It was also designed to be semi-dynamic, to cope better with seismic movement. This system is called the New Zealand Geodetic Datum 2000, and includes the NZ Transverse Mercator projection that topographical maps are published in. These geodetic activities are responsible for the ubiquitous trig stations that reside mostly at the top of many hills throughout New Zealand.

Rather than burning coal directly, gasification (a thermo-chemical process) breaks down coal into its basic chemical constituents. The technology of processing coal to gas on a commercial scale has been in development since the 1970s, and it has been in use since the mid-1980s. The TRIG technology, derived from fluidized catalytic cracking units used in the petrochemical industry, uses a pressurized, circulating fluidized bed unit. The transport gasification system features higher efficiencies and is capable of processing low-rank coals, such as lignite.

The Ironstone Mountain is a mountain located in the Central Highlands region of Tasmania, Australia. Part of Great Western Tiers escarpment, the mountain is situated south of the small country village of Mole Creek. With an elevation of above sea level, the mountain is the highest peak of the Great Western Tiers and has a nearby companion lake, Lake Ironstone. The highest point is marked with a trig point, but more dominant is the slightly lower part of the mountain depicted here in the information box.

The rest will go home disappointed. Every grueling day is a test of the young men and women’s will, but one drill especially separates out the weak from the strong — an endless run up and down one hill known as “the Trig.” The young hopefuls start off in a sprint, but over time their pace slows. The grueling path goes on for so long and is so difficult that the viewer realizes the true feat is not maintaining one’s speed – it is continuing to move at all.

The trig station was '89 feet high' and constructed from timber carried up by manual labour from the valley below. The trigonometric station was called 'The Stockade' by locals, on account of the palisade surrounding the central cairn, but by the turn of the 20th century it had largely disappeared. A full survey of Ben Lomond was conducted from September 1905 to 1912 by Colonel William Vincent Legge, Stacks Bluff was found to be the second highest feature on the plateau at this time.

The highest point is marked by a trig point and a substantial cairn. The hill has a prominence of 495 metres making it a fine view point. The view north takes in Loch Arkaig and its surrounding mountains but the highlight of the vista is south towards the Ben Nevis range, giving a fine prospect which looks straight up the valley of the Allt a Mhuillin and shows Britain's highest mountain to fine effect along with the neighbouring Càrn Mòr Dearg and Aonach Mòr.

Three men of Gragareth The summit has a trig point and extensive views towards Morecambe Bay, the Lake District fells, the Howgill Fells, Ingleborough and the Forest of Bowland. The county boundary wall running along the ridge is believed to be "one of the highest dry stone walls in the country." Historically it formed the boundary between the West Riding of Yorkshire and Westmorland. The Three Men of Gragareth are a group of tall cairns on the western side of the hill above Leck Fell House.

The hill is a prominent feature on the skyline for most of the borough of Chorley and further afield. Winter Hill's topographic prominence results in it being classified as a Marilyn. The trig point on its summit marks the highest point in Blackburn with Darwen whereas the highest point in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton is away on its south east slope at above sea level. It offers views over Lancashire and the Greater Manchester Urban Area, including Manchester city centre, Salford, Werneth Low, Wigan and Bolton.

The easy-to-moderate climb to the summit takes about 2½ hours from Llyn Celyn. There are no readily identifiable footpaths but the route is marked by an old wire boundary fence. Beneath the mountain is Llyn Arenig Fawr, a reservoir providing drinking water to Bala and the surrounding villages. The summit, which is also known as Moel yr Eglwys (), has a trig point and a memorial to eight American aircrew who died when their Flying Fortress bomber B-17F #42-3124 crashed on 4 August 1943.

The Ordnance Survey maps of Great Britain use the Ordnance Survey National Grid The Ordnance Survey's original maps were made by triangulation. For the second survey, in 1934, this process was used again and resulted in the building of many triangulation pillars (trig points): short (c. 4 feet/1.2 m high), usually square, concrete or stone pillars at prominent locations such as hill tops. Their precise locations were determined by triangulation, and the details in between were then filled in with less precise methods.

The summit overlooks the steep eastern face and is marked by a cairn. Unusually, the trig point on this hill does not sit at the summit but 600 m to the south-west on a subsidiary spur. The hill is drained to the west by streams flowing into the Afon Dringarth and to the east by streams draining into the Taf Fawr. The Dringarth is dammed to the west to form Ystradfellte Reservoir as is the Taf Fawr east of the hill to form Beacons Reservoir.

Seat Robert is a hill in the east of the English Lake District, south west of Shap, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches , and has a cairn and an Ordnance Survey "ring" at ground level rather than the usual trig point column. Wainwright's route is a clockwise circuit from Swindale reaching Seat Robert by way of Langhowe Pike at and Great Ladstones at , and continuing over High Wether Howe at and Fewling Stones and .

Etadunna Station to the north is a cattle station with 2500 cattle. The station environs include a number of heritage sites include Bucaltaninna Homestead ruins, the Woolshed ruins and Canny Trig Point (also known as Milner's Pile) and the state heritage-registered Killalpaninna Mission site. Further north again is Mulka Station which also has a number of heritage sites including homestead ruins at Apatoongannie, Old Mulka and Ooroowillannie. The Mulka Store ruins is listed as a state heritage place on the South Australian Heritage Register.

Situated near the bank of the Afon Tywi, the parish extends from near Johnstown to Llansteffan in one direction and from Llangynog to the river in another and consists of very pleasant countryside with gentle hills reaching 350 ft/105m (Trig Point) and stretches of woodlands. Merryton Low is a hill in Staffordshire, England, a few miles east of Leek. It is in the civil parish of Fawfieldhead in the local government district of Staffordshire Moorlands. Jane Hocking's burial, the oldest in the cemetery, is marked by the carved figure of an angel clinging to a cross atop a tapered column. Service buildings constructed in the 1940s building programme survive. They comprise small brick toilet blocks, a brick building incorporating the walls and floor slab of a 1958 building, which was used as an office, store and garage, and a staff amenities block. The cemetery contains a Trig marker, which was part of a triangulation survey of the South East region carried out by the government in 1883.

Offa's Dyke Path passes along the ridge, more or less from south to north, while a steeper path leads to the summit from near the former youth hostel in the Vale of Ewyas to the west. The path is well marked and surfaced over most of its length along the ridge, with stone pavements across very wet parts. The summit is unmarked and, because of the very shallow gradients along the summit ridge, virtually impossible to determine in situ. However, there are several landmarks, such as a trig point, signposts, and stone cairns.

Mynydd Llangorse is a hill on the western edge of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Powys, south Wales. It lies two miles east of Llangors and its lake and 5 miles south of Talgarth. Its summit at 515m (1690 feet) overtops the location 600m to the south at which a trig point is sited by 9m. The broad spur of Cefn Moel extends south towards the village of Bwlch whilst a spur to the southeast forms Pen Tir which reaches just over 450m above sea level.

On reaching Sir Frederick Range, Beadell had his team bulldoze a side track to the highest point as access to the site for a future Trig station. Just beyond this point, Beadell discovered a series of Aboriginal petroglyphs on a smooth rock surface located in a creek bed. Neatly carved spirals, concentric circles, shapes of animal and bird tracks were revealed to him, the only ones of this type he had seen. The track then veered to the east, passed south of further obstacles (Lake Macdonald and Bonython Range) and headed towards Davenport Hills.

The named Wormberch had already surfaced by the 13th century in the documents and commodity schedules of the County of Regenstein-Blankenburg in connexion with the mining of iron ore. In the 19th century the mountain was still being called Wormsberg or Wormberg, but a convincing derivation of the name has yet to be found. Around 1850 the first trig post was erected on the summit of the Wurmberg to assist in surveying the Harz mountains. It was replaced in 1890 by a wooden tower, also used for trigonometric measurements, that stood until 1930.

From the south, a road for car access ends very close to the summit trig point, which is a short walk from the parking area. This can be reached from Cheltenham via Ham Hill and Aggs Hill, or from the village of Whittington, Gloucestershire. To the north and to reach the more favourable view point, a minor road leads off the B4632 to the golf course where there is free parking in a disused quarry. From this point, the viewpoint is roughly a half-mile ascent on foot.

The highest point on Elton Moor, known as Blake Low, is above sea level; at this location is Elton Common trig point (TP3057). There is an interpretation board here that explains how the landscape has changed from the past mining activities and points out the effects on a scarred adjacent field. It shows notable points of the Peak District that can be seen from this viewpoint, including Kinder Scout and Mam Tor, some distance away. It states how this is one of the best viewpoints of the Peak District.

Overview of the survey triangulation systems in North Germany Another triangle was formed by the Haußelberg, the Falkenberg and Breithorn (Breitenhorn), AMSL, south of Unterlüß. It has to be deduced that these points - the Breithorn, Haußelberg and Falkenberg - which are all hidden by woods today, were then on open, unforested hilltops, probably surrounded by heathland. Not until the large, systematic afforestation in the 2nd half of the 19th century did today's wooded hilltops emerge. In 2005 a new trig point was erected on the Haußelberg, near the original stone.

Although outside the National Park boundary, the hills are geologically in the White Peak area of the Peak District. The main peak, known as The Walk, with an Ordnance Survey trig point is above sea level. The southern slopes are rather steep, overlooking the hamlets of Ramsor and Wootton, while the north is more gently sloped towards the Staffordshire Moorlands district. The ten or more tumuli on or around the Weaver Hills, including Cauldon Low (a peak in the same range just to the east) imply significant prehistoric settlements in the area.

South of Crowden, the Pennine Way next visits Bleaklow and Kinder Scout (both of which are slightly higher, just over , and so are Hewitts). The triangulation column ("trig point") and highest point on Black Hill (and the highest point in West Yorkshire) is on a small elevated mound, called Soldiers' Lump. According to WainwrightWainwright, A. Pennine Way Companion p.157 the support timbers for the Ramsden theodolite, used by the Royal Engineers in the original Ordnance Survey which began in 1784, were still to be found here many years later.

Penistone Hill Country Park is an open space of moorland that is located to west of Haworth and north-west of Oxenhope in West Yorkshire, England. The park's highest point is detailed with a trig point which is above sea level. Since 1994, the park has been notified as being an SSSI as part of the South Pennine Moors. Whilst Pen is an old word (notably Welsh for hill) and Penistone (South Yorkshire) means 'Farm on the Hill', it is believed that Penistone Hill derives its name from the gambling game Gamepenny Stone.

Mississippi Power's Kemper plant was intended to be an integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) facility, utilizing a technology known as "transport integrated gasification" (TRIG) to convert lignite coal—mined on the Kemper site—into natural gas. The natural gas would then have been used to power turbines to generate electricity. Mississippi Power stated that, by adding coal to its sources of power, it wished to add balance to its fuel-source choices, and be less reliant on any one form of energy. There is an estimated four billion tons of lignite available to be used.

The broad top of Loadpot Hill has a trig point marking its highest point. A little to the south of the summit stood Lowther House, an old shooting lodge, but nothing now remains but a pile of stone from the chimney. The Roman road (the High Street) which runs along the main ridge, makes a detour to the west around the summit of the fell before continuing north east via Moor Divock to Penrith. An extensive Lakeland view can be seen to the west with the Pennines more distant to the east.

The valley is entered from the north via the Tututawa Saddle and Mangaotuku Road, which follows the meandering Mangaotuku Stream. At Tututawa the Tututawa Stream feeds into the Mangaotuku Stream, and the Mangaotuku meets the Mangaehu Stream. Similarly Tututawa Road, which runs along the Tututawa Stream valley, meets Mangaotuku Road, and Mangaotuku Road meets Mangaehu Road. The valley is surrounded by four high peaks; the Mangaotuku trig (365 m alt.) to the west, Popuanui (443m) to the east, Tututawa (451m) to the south-east and Waitiri (490m) to the south.

The Black Hill in South Lanarkshire is owned by the National Trust for Scotland. It overlooks the Clyde Valley, and is the location of a burial cairn from the Bronze Age and an Iron Age fortress. The view from the trig point on Black Hill, looking north towards Glasgow and the Campsie Fells The hill is 2 miles (3 km) east of Blackwood and looks down to the Clyde valley at Kirkfieldbank. It peaks at a height of 290m (or 951 feet) \- and now has an ordnance survey triangulation point on top of the cairn.

A final path comes from the north east from the Hornby Road in the direction to White Hill. The summit consists of two large (10m high) buttresses of gritstone some unusually shaped waist-high rocks and the usual trig point. The buttresses contain a number of recorded rock climbs, including the two farthest "hard grit" routes (E7 & E6) from the road in the entire UK. Both climbs were ascended in 2001 by Neil Kershaw and Greg Chapman. It's quite possible to not see another human being all day there.

Next to the official survey stone on the highest point there is also a trig point from the first triangulation survey in Mecklenburg, carried out by Friedrich Paschen. It is called the FF Rock (FF-Stein) by geodesists. The name of this rock comes from the Frederick Francis II, who gave the order for the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg State Survey (Großherzoglich Mecklenburgische Landvermessung) that took place from 1853 to 1860. Cyrillic letters have been subsequently inscribed on the rock, for example, on its western face are carved the letters "ГИК" and the year "1945г".

The dam supplies water for the residences around Cambewarra Range Nature Reserve. Although the nature reserve is known to have limited access and few facilities for public, it already has facilities for walking, bird watching, scenery viewing, horse riding (only on public roads within reserve) and educational use like research. A vehicle park and also publicly available vehicle access are available within the reserve. Leobold Hill road and Red Rocks Trig Trail are the roads across the reserve’s plateau which makes available the access through to the end of the cliff line.

The summit trig point in 1976 Bruach na Frìthe is one of the principal summits on the Black Cuillin ridge, on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Like the rest of the range it is composed of gabbro, a rock with excellent grip for mountaineering. The Bruach cannot be seen in the popular view from Sligachan - the right hand peak which is often mistaken for it is the lower Sgurr a' Bhasteir. This is one of the easiest and probably the most ascended of the main Black Cuillin peaks, requiring no scrambling ability.

The walk from the car park along the ridge to the trig point which marks the top of the hill is clear and easily followed in good weather, with two large cairns beyond the rocky outcrops along the Cat's Back. There is a small pool in the peat near the summit, its size depending on local rainfall. The path can be continued on a well marked and visible track to Hay Bluff, a prominent peak above Hay-on-Wye and the Gospel Pass. The path crosses several peat bogs and there is a small pool near the summit itself.

When planning to perform a resection, the surveyor must first plot the locations of the known points along with the approximate unknown point of observation. The summit is a grassy ridge, which has a cairn and trig point. The views are extensive to the south and east, with Plynlimon and Cardigan Bay ahead, while the north views are dominated by Cadair Idris and Maesglase to the west. Between Tarren y Gesail and Tarren Hendre lies the Bryn Eglwys quarry, and Nant Gwernol railway station on the Talyllyn Railway, in the ravine of the Nant Gwernol stream. The Tarrerns can be thought of as forgotten mountains of Snowdonia, overshadowed by the popularity of Cadair Idris, occupying the sleepy south-western frontier of the national park.

There are five small lakes or tarns, called the East Tarns, grouped together on the eastern part of the plateau just to the north of the summit of Tarn Rigg Hill. The West Tarn, meanwhile, lies at the north-western end of the summit plateau at , and is difficult to find on the almost flat top because it nestles in a slight hollow, even though it can be seen from the trig point. It may be located from the latter by following the western rim of the plateau, overlooking Sedbergh, until two cairns point the way to the tarn.

Llanmadoc Hill is a 186-metre-high hill at the northwestern corner of the Gower Peninsula west of Swansea in South Wales. The summit at the western end of the east-west aligned ridge is crowned by a trig point; at its eastern end are a series of complex earthworks known as The Bulwark. Numerous other prehistoric cairns adorn the hill’s broad summit ridge. The hill’s position above the village of Llanmadoc within 2 km of Gower’s northwest coast enables wide panoramas to be enjoyed over the western end of the peninsula and the surrounding Loughor estuary, Rhossili Bay and Carmarthen Bay.

Mynydd y Gaer is a 295-metre-high hill in Bridgend County Borough in South Wales. The summit is crowned by a trig point. It is reputed to be the site of Caradoc's fortress who in the first century AD resisted the Roman invasion of the Silures territories around 48-50 AD. There is a Caer Caradoc tumulus at the eastern end of the mynydd which is still displayed on the OS maps that is, according to local legend, the burial place of Caradoc. Nearby are the burial mounds of Meurig and Athwr II who resisted the Saxons in the 6th century.

A network of tracks allows visitors to walk to most features of the reserve. Very little is known of Aboriginal activity in the area other than the use of the springs as a source of fresh water by the Bunurong people. A proposal in the 1970s to sandmine the remaining bushland met with community uproar and the Eureka Flag was raised on Trig Point (the site from which the Frankston area was originally surveyed) and the area claimed for the people of Frankston. The reserve is a very important habitat for native fauna, particularly small mammals, reptiles and amphibians.

A Trig Point was positioned on top of this bing. The promenade or sea defence for the railway forms the western boundary of the LNR and the Stevenston Burn forms the eastern boundary. In the 1970s a couple of small buildings were all that was left of the old colliery and satellite photographs show their foundations and the extent of the spoil heap. Several 'stones' are recorded on the OS maps near the Stevenston Burn, representing permanent markers for the boundary of the Saltcoats Campbell and Saltcoats Cunninghame lands as the burn itself tends to change course.

Brown Hill is a hill in the Australian state of South Australia located on the western edge of the Mount Lofty Ranges, southeast of the centre of Adelaide, in the suburb of Brown Hill Creek. Brown Hill rises to above sea level. Brown Hill, along with Mount Lofty, Green Hill, Flagstaff Hill and Black Hill, was used by Colonel William Light as a trig station for the 1837 survey of what is now the Adelaide city centre. Captain Collet Barker probably named Brown Hill when seen from Gulf St Vincent or in 1836 when in the Mitcham area.

Additionally, commercial TRIG units can be designed to achieve high environmental standards for sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, dust emissions, mercury, and carbon dioxide. Cost analysis based on the Kemper Coal Plant's design has shown that the economic benefits offered by the air-blown transport gasifier, relative to other systems, are preserved even when carbon dioxide capture and sequestration methodologies are incorporated into the design. The largest transport gasifier built to date commenced operation in 1996 at Southern Company's PSDF. The gasifier and auxiliary equipment at the site were sized to provide reliable data for confident scale-up to commercial scale.

Cribarth, sometimes referred to as the Sleeping Giant, is a hill in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Powys (formerly Brecknockshire) in southern Wales. The summit lies on the broken ridge at an elevation of 428m at OS grid reference SN 831143. To its west is a 426m high rounded top at SN 829144 which lies just to the northwest of a mile long ridge which forms the main bulk of the hill.Ordnance Survey Landplan mapping The ridge attains a height of 423m high at its southwest end and this spot is marked by a trig point.

The distance between that point and the adjacent side is some fraction that is the product of 1 the distance from the vertex, and 2 the magnitude of the opposite side. The second input variable in this type of multiplier positions a slotted plate perpendicular to the adjacent side. That slot contains a block, and that block's position in its slot is determined by another block right next to it. The latter slides along the hypotenuse, so the two blocks are positioned at a distance from the (trig.) adjacent side by an amount proportional to the product.

Meall Ghaordaidh is a mountain in the Southern Highlands of Scotland, approximately 10 km north-west of Killin. The mountain can be ascended via Glen Lochay starting to the north-west of the Allt Dhùin Croisg near Duncroisk, via an eroded path leading north-west through peat bogs to the summit; alternatively, an ascent can be made from Glen Lyon starting at Stronuich via one of two spurs that lead to the summit (Creag an Tulabhain or Creag Laoghain). The summit is marked by a large circular rock windbreak, within which there is a trig point.

This was tested as 30 minutes to Perrigrine lookout, 23 minutes more to the Cairn at the summit and 40 minutes return. Peregrine Lookout is south of the carpark and from there the path turns back on itself as it proceeds upwards so that the cairn at the summit is a little north of the carpark.

Motorised model aircraft flying is also permitted on the northern edge of the moor, where a strip of grassed land is provided to enable modellers to safely take off and land their aircraft. Flying of model aircraft on the moor has been in existence since at least 1935. There are panoramic views from Harden Moor northwards and eastwards over Airedale, westwards towards the moors above Cullingworth and Denholme and southwards towards the hills above Wilsden. A Trig Point was located at the highest point on the moor just west of the moor across Ryecroft Road on Catstones Moor.

The lagoon from the south, on Ōkārito Trig The lagoon is in area, mostly quite shallow. It is the largest sandbar-built estuarine wetland in the West Coast region – and the largest such unmodified wetland in all New Zealand – and is roughly in the middle of a series of wetlands that extends for 40 km, between the Wanganui River in the north and the Waiho River in the south. Several small rivers drain into the lagoon, and it is the outflow of Lake Mapourika via the Ōkārito River. At the southern end of the lagoon is the small settlement of Ōkārito.

The south face showing the symmetrical structure The highest point is directly above the Hallsfell spur, marked by a trig point, in the form of a concrete ring. A good path connects the five summits on the main ridge, giving excellent views down the south-east face. Northward on the fine turf of the 'saddle' is a large cross laid out in white stones. Its origin is uncertain, but extension to its current size (in excess of 10 ft) is attributed to a Harold Robinson of Threlkeld, a frequent visitor in the years after the Second World War.

It is high and has a prominence of , thus being categorised as a TuMP and HuMP. The hill can be accessed from the north up a footpath that runs along the back of Hunterston Nuclear Plant or from the south up EE Communications Road. The view from the top provides 360 degrees panoramic scenery across to Arran, Little and Great Cumbrae and across the firth of Clyde as well as a vantage point for seeing West Kilbride and Fairlie, North Ayrshire. There is a Trig point within 4m of the summit as well as a slightly lower cairn and an EE phone mast.

A secondary high point is achieved at a point marked by a trig point at SO 147159. To the north the hill overlooks the valleys of Dyffryn Crawnon and Cwm Claisfer, themselves tributary valleys of the Usk. The shallow upper valley (Cwm Carneilw) of the Ebbw River reaches into the plateau in the southeast whilst the upper reaches of the Sirhowy Valley and its tributary the Nant Trefil define its western margins. A further tributary, the Nant Milgatw, reaches in from the south whilst the sharp edge of Rassau Industrial Estate also defines a part of its southern margin.

On 18 June 2009, the Australian Communications and Media Authority allocated new "Section 38B" television broadcasting licences to a joint venture company owned by Prime Media and WIN Television. The company, named West Digital Television, launched Ten West on Thursday 10 June 2010 as part of the initial introduction of digital commercial television in Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Mawson Trig and Mingenew. West Digital Television launched on the Viewer Access Satellite Television platform in April 2011. There are several small patches of woodland, including Broomhall Wood and Devil's Nest on Finnaker Brook. Trig point near Mickley Hall Heatley Lane runs from the A530 near Sound southwards into the parish of Newhall, where it becomes Hollingreen Lane and connects with Coole Lane, which runs north–south to the east of the parish. Mickley Hall Lane/French Lane runs eastwards from Heatley Lane in the north of the parish to Hack Green in Baddington parish, where it also connects with Coole Lane. Cock Lane and Slaughterhouse Lane each run westwards from Heatley Lane to the A530.

Damaged trig point on the summit Located in the Rethymno regional unit, the Agathias stands close to the Psiloritis, the highest summit of Mount Ida massif and of the whole island. It belongs to the water divide between the southern part fo Crete, tributary of the Libyan Sea, and the northern one, facing the Aegean sea. A saddle at 2321 m West of mount Agathias connects it with the Psiloritis, while eastwards the ridge continues with Mount Voloumenou. A natural park, member of UNESCO's Global Geoparks Network, includes the Agathias and the Mt. Ida massif as a whole.

Murdoch later had a prominent career in the Commonwealth Works Department, where he was appointed Chief Architect by 1919 and was involved with the planning of Canberra and the design of its provisional Parliament House (now Old Parliament House). The structure is known locally as the "Trig Tower" because trigonometrical survey readings are taken from it. In the late 1960s a new medium security block, the first of its type in north Queensland, was constructed south of the existing prison on the site of the former prison piggery. When completed in 1967 the new prison provided accommodation for up to 192 prisoners.

Solo and Chewbacca make their way to the bridge in an attempt to either fly the Vector, or at least turn off the tractor beam. Kale dies from an infected wound, returns to life as a zombie, and is subsequently killed again by Trig. Cody finds herself in the Vector medbay, and with the aid of the Destroyer's own 21B discovers the cause of the contagion: Codenamed Blackwing, it is an artificially created virus – intended to slow the onset of decay and rigor mortis, and increase the healing capacity of the human body prior to death. The Vector was taking it to an isolated outpost for testing.

Eastern slopes of Tair Carn Uchaf Tair Carn Uchaf (Welsh for "Upper Three Cairns") is a hill in the Brecon Beacons National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog) in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. Its summit sits atop a plateau-like ridge at above sea level and is marked by one of the three huge cairns which give the mountain its name. The main ridge leads southwest towards the subsidiary top of Tair Carn Isaf ("Lower Three Cairns", ), which hosts further cairns. The summit of this top lies at , whilst a trig point just to its southwest lies at a height of 459 metres (1505').

Near the summit trig point are the remains of a Bronze Age cairn, dating back up to 4,000 years and indicating that the summit was a likely ceremonial site. Although partly destroyed by quarrying, Titterstone Clee's Iron Age hill fort or encampment, enclosed by a huge boundary earthworks, has fared better than those on Brown Clee. It is of note that the walls of the fort are made up of stone blocks, instead of earth banks. Clee Hill is one of only a few hills and mountains noted on the Hereford Mappa Mundi, a 13th-century map of the world displayed at Hereford Cathedral.

Historic trig point on the Fichtelberg, August 2004 The Fichtelberg rises within the Central Ore Mountains in the Ore Mountains/Vogtland Nature Park around 1.5 kilometres north of the German-Czech border. At the southern foot of the mountain lies the highest town in Germany: the resort of Oberwiesenthal in the Pöhlbach valley. About 750 metres south-southwest is the less prominent subpeak of the Fichtelberg, known as the Kleiner Fichtelberg ("Little Fichtelberg") also called the Hinterer Fichtelberg ("Rear Fichtelberg"); 1,205.6 m). About 4 kilometres south-southeast is the highest peak in the Ore Mountains: the Klínovec (Keilberg; 1,244 m) on the Czech side of the border.

The battalion's role in the September attack, including the efforts of Corporal Horton McLachlan, who received the Distinguished Conduct Medal, was later depicted in a painting by Ivor Hele. Among the casualties at El Alamein was the 2/15th's recently appointed replacement commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Keith Magno, who was mortally wounded by artillery fire after the battalion was heavily shelled while forming up during an attack around Trig 29 – a valuable piece of high ground south-west of Tel-el-Eisa – on 28 October. Casualties over both periods the battalion fought around Alamein totaled 81 killed, 23 died of wounds, 276 wounded and seven captured.

There are occasional quartzite outcrops across the summit plateau and some of the boulders have been collected to surround the trig point, a few iron fence post have also been included. The OS map also shows a 936-metre spot height, half a kilometre to the west of the recognised summit. The summit is crossed by a line of old rusting boundary fence posts and these lead unerringly to the adjoining Munro of Càrn na Caim which lies five km to the north across a boggy col with a height of 825 metres. A'Bhuidheanach Bheag has two subsidiary tops over 3,000 feet in height.

Hewitt was awarded the Navy Cross commanding the destroyer escorting Atlantic convoys during World War I. His citation reads: Hewitt was an instructor of electrical engineering and physics at the Naval Academy from 1919 to 1921 before returning to sea as gunnery officer aboard . There are also three disused quarries, and the remains of an eel farm, that was destroyed by fire in the 1990s. Atop the highest hill on Mellor Moor, overlooking the village, is the site of a Roman signalling station, and a now disused Royal Observer Corps Nuclear Blast and Fallout Monitoring Station. The monitoring post was opened in July 1959, was decommissioned in October 1968, and is situated on a low mound ten yards west of a trig point overlooking BAE Samlesbury Airfield. Many people still believe that this was a nuclear shelter or an air raid shelter for the use of the local population during times of war.

A short distance down to the south-east of the summit trig point, an iron cross commemorates Sergeant Harry Lawrie of the Killin Scottish Mountain Rescue team, who died on 1 February 1987 during a rescue operation on Ben More near Crianlarich when the helicopter crashed. The Ben Ledi ridge continues north, dropping down to about 600 m before climbing again to the summit of Benvane, a Corbett not to be confused with Ben Vane, a Munro on the west side of Loch Lomond.

Path on Buckland Hill Buckland Hill is a low hill in the Brecon Beacons National Park in the county of Powys in Wales. Sitting transversely across the Usk valley between the river and the village of Bwlch, it provides excellent panoramic views down the valley and across to the Black Mountains. The A82 road and the West Highland railway line run on the eastern side of Ben Vorlich, above the shoreline of Loch Lomond. The peak forms a north-south ridge on the western side of Loch Lomond, with a subsidiary ridge known as Little Hills running from the summit east down to the shores of the loch. There are three small summits around 800 m apart along the main ridge; the central one is the highest, though the southern one has a trig point. Unlike many Scottish peaks, there is no single route up Ben Vorlich that is used to the virtual exclusion of all others.

Thorpe Fell Top is the top of the hill of Burnsall and Thorpe Fell in the Yorkshire Dales, itself forming part of a larger wedge of ground between Wharfedale and Skipton. War memorial on nearby Cracoe Fell The summit of this grouse moor is 506 metres above sea level and topped with a trig point. It was listed in Alan Dawson's "The Relative Hills of Britain" as a Marilyn. However, a number of recent observations and measurements suggest that the base of the war memorial at the top of Cracoe Fell () some to the south-west, is probably higher, perhaps as high as 510 metres.

The mountain can be ascended from the south, beginning at Loch Affric, up the north side of Gleann nam Fiadh (fording a stream) and reaching the summit of both Càrn Eige itself and then Mam Sodhail in either clockwise or anticlockwise fashion (route described anticlockwise), potentially including Beinn Fhionnlaidh as an extra, since this is relatively difficult to access in any other way. The summit is marked by an Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar (trig point) and a cairn. Including only the three principal Munros (i.e. excluding the two summits to the east), a successful ascent of this mountain might take between 9 and 10 hours.

The Department of Energy, the Southern Company, and construction management firm KBR (Kellogg, Brown & Root) joined together at the Power Systems Development Facility (PSDF) in Wilsonville, Alabama to develop a process known as Transport Integrated Gasification (TRIG). This development started in 1996, and the gasifier design of Southern Company's Kemper Coal Plant is based on this specific research and development. The technology is most cost-effective when using low-heat content, high moisture, or high-ash content coals, including lignite. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, coal gasification offers one of the most versatile and clean ways to convert coal into electricity, hydrogen, and other valuable energy products.

Mynydd Merthyr Mynydd Merthyr is a broad ridge of high ground between Taff Vale (Welsh Cwm Taf) and the Cwm Cynon in the Valleys region of South Wales. It forms the boundary between the unitary authorities of Rhondda Cynon Taff to the west and Merthyr Tydfil to the east. The high point of 493m is at Mynydd Gethin (OS grid reference SO 044025) (though the summit trig point is at the lower height of 491m) is the culmination of a long ridge which extends northwestwards from the confluence of the Afon Cynon and the River Taff at Abercynon. The ridge includes the subsidiary summits of Twyn Brynbychan and Twyn Sych.

The fell is listed as Nine Standards Rigg, rather than Hartley Fell, in Alan Dawson's book The Hewitts and Marilyns of England. The Nine Standards themselves, some of which were originally more than four metres high, are on the line of the Coast to Coast Walk between Kirkby Stephen and Keld, and are just to the north of the fell's summit. Situated at a height of 650 m, their original purpose is uncertain but one possibility is that they marked the boundary between Westmorland and Swaledale. The Nine Standards offer a better viewpoint than the Ordnance Survey trig point that marks the actual summit of the fell.

Map of Chanctonbury Ring and neighbouring archaeological features Chanctonbury Ring is in a commanding position looking across the Sussex Weald to the north, on the edge of a steep natural escarpment to the northwest and northeast. It is at the middle point of a long, narrow and otherwise treeless plateau, approached via ridges to the east and west. A trig point is located about west of the Ring, recorded by the Ordnance Survey as above sea level. Although this was originally recorded as the top of Chanctonbury Hill and thus the Marilyn summit, recent measurements suggest that the area of the Ring is higher, about above sea level.

1811 The absence of a trig point suggests that Dent was not used in the Retriangulation of Great Britain. Dent from Blakeley Raise Over the past 20 years a man-made forest has been planted on the slopes of the fell facing north towards Cleator Moor. This process was carried out to reduce the rate of erosion on the fell. There is already a mature forest on the southern slopes of the fell and public pedestrian access via a gate at Nannycatch. There is a road at the base of the fell, known locally as ‘the fell road’, which runs from Cleator Moor to Egremont.

After making a brief stand around Mersa Matruh, the British Eighth Army was forced to withdraw towards the Alamein line.Glenn 1987, p. 101. In response, the 9th Division was transported south from Syria, and hurriedly committed to First Battle of El Alamein. On 1 July, Rommel's forces launched a determined assault on the Alamein line, and on 7 July the 9th Division was ordered to launch a counter- attack. As part of this plan, the 2/48th was ordered to traverse the coastline and capture the Trig 33 ridge north of the "Tel el Eisa" station, commencing their attack shortly before dawn on 10 July.

The approach from Glen Strathfarrar begins from the hydroelectric power station in Gleann Innis (grid reference ), reached by a 17-mile drive from Struy along a private road; the locked gate at the entrance to this road is opened at specified times to give access to vehicles. Pedestrians and cyclists are allowed through the gate at all times. From the power station a stalkers' path leads to the col between An Riabhachan and Sgurr na Lapaich, from where there is a further climb of over 300 metres to reach the summit. The top of the mountain is marked by an Ordnance Survey trig point.

Since 2013, a single 3MW wind turbine – in height including the blades – has been in place at the brow of the Braes, just inside the Glasgow City boundary (a trig point and transmitter station a short distance to the east are within South Lanarkshire). Due to its prominent location, the turbine can be seen from across the city. It is unclear if more are planned for the area, with subsidy funding for onshore windfarms cut by the UK Government in 2015, although local bodies were supportive of further projects. The vista of the city from its summit was used as the original title card for the police drama Taggart.

A common hike combines both Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Bach via the Craigysgafn ridge. A steep climb to the summit (which has a trig point) allows views of areas that cannot be seen without climbing. Moelwyn Mawr has a high reservoir, Llyn Stwlan, which is part of the Ffestiniog Power Station pumped- storage hydroelectric power plant in Tanygrisiau. The walk over the main peaks in the Moelwyns, those being Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Bach involves a walk up a disused incline, before gaining the grassy slopes of Moelwyn Mawr and onto the rockier Moelwyn Bach, before walking back down the road from the Stwlan Dam.

Although the base of the tower is slightly lower than the true summit of the mountain, the roof of the shelter overtops the trig point by several feet, making it the highest man-made structure in the UK. A war memorial to the dead of World War II is located next to the observatory. On 17 May 2006, a piano that had been buried under one of the cairns on the peak was uncovered by the John Muir Trust, which owns much of the mountain. The piano is believed to have been carried up for charity by removal men from Dundee over 20 years earlier. The view from the UK's highest point is extensive.

View of Crugiau Merched trig point and Cefn Branddu Head of a valley on Mynydd Mallaen Mynydd Mallaen () is an expansive plateau to the northwest of Cilycwm in northeast Carmarthenshire, Wales. It forms part of the Cambrian Mountains massif, and is north-west of the Black Mountain (range) in the Brecon Beacons. It takes the form of an undulating plateau with steep slopes dropping away to the Towy valley to the east and those of the Gwenffrwd, Nant Melyn and Afon Cothi to the north and west. Its highest point of 1516 feet or 462m at OS grid reference SN 723455 is surmounted by two Bronze Age cairns known as Crugiau Merched (which translates from Welsh as ladies' barrows).

For reasons which seem inadequate now, he confines himself to an explanation of "plain trigonometry" and one can only speculate that the true reason is that before Mr. Harrison did his famous work on sea-going chronometers, the navigator's need for spherical trig was relatively undeveloped. On the other hand Harris's evident delight in the new chart projection "commonly called Mercator's" is clearly and amusingly explained in the text. This is probably not a book for the general reader, and even for the historian of the 18th century it is specialist stuff. The navigator, however, is bound to read him with respect and admiration; he describes many enduring maritime truths in an engaging and entertaining style.

The top of Helvellyn, looking north- west from the summit cairn The summit of Helvellyn takes the form of a broad plateau, sloping gently to the south-west, but dropping abruptly to the north- east into Red Tarn cove. So smooth and large is this summit that a small aeroplane was able to land on it in 1926 (see History below). The highest point, above sea level, is the top of a small rocky knoll, marked by a loose cairn. In former times this knoll used to be known as Helvellyn High Man (or Higher Man.) Nearby there is a cross-shaped stone shelter; to the north is an Ordnance Survey trig point, slightly lower than the summit at .

Pond on top of the hill in the east of the parish The River Weaver runs north–south through the west of the civil parish and the River Gowy runs east–west along part of its northern border. Both rivers are close to their sources in the Peckforton Hills, which rise to the north west of Ridley. There is a low hill in the east of the civil parish, with a high point of 127 m at , at the north part of Chesterton Wood. A mast and a covered reservoir are located on the top of the hill, and a trig point stands at , around 100 metres north of the reservoir, at an elevation of 125 metres.

The return journey can be varied by taking in the subsidiary top of Sgurr an Tuill Bhain and then descending south into the corrie to join the uphill route. The summit has twin pinnacles: the southern top has a trig point with a height of 980 metres whilst the northern top is situated on the edge of the cliffs and is a finer viewpoint. In recent years it has been elevated to a height of 981 metres by the Ordnance Survey making it the highest point on the mountain. Slioch's isolation from other mountains makes the view from the summit extensive; it takes in the wilderness of the Fisherfield Forest to the north with its five Munros.

Upton Heath is part of the natural region of the Dorset Heaths and covers an area of 205 hectares. It lies within the Poole Basin and is bounded by the village of Corfe Mullen to the north, the Poole district of Broadstone to the northeast, Creekmoor to the east, the A35 dual carriageway to the south and the hamlet of Beacon Hill to the southwest. Lytchett Matravers lies about 4 kilometres to the west beyond Lychett Heath and the village of Upton lies to the south over the other side of the A35. The highest point on Upton Heath is the trig point at SY983956, which has extensive views to the south.

Southern Company works closely with the US Department of Energy on a variety of projects including transmission and distribution of infrastructure and smart grid initiatives, environmental research programs, and nuclear generation. One of the more significant joint efforts, the DOE's National Carbon Capture Center, is managed by Southern Company and represents national efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from coal-based power generation. As stated, old enemy Jedikiah made a dramatic return to exact revenge in the last story. It ends with an air of finality as the Tomorrow People (including the just broken out Trisha Conway), having only just survived the encounter (at one point John, Elizabeth and Tikno are violently gunned down and left barely alive), decide to leave Earth for the Galactic Trig with only a vague, haunting promise from Elizabeth that they will return...sometime.

Llyn y Fan Fawr, below Fan Brycheiniog in the Black Mountain Fan Brycheiniog is the highest peak at a height of (above sea level) in the Black Mountain (Y Mynydd Du) region of the Brecon Beacons National Park in southern Wales. There is a trig point at the peak and on the edge of the escarpment, and nearby, a stone shelter with an inner seat. It lies just inside the historic county of Brecknockshire (now part of the Powys council area) which gives the mountain its Welsh name. A subsidiary top (Fan Foel), less than a kilometre from the summit along the ridge to the northwest, is the highest point (county top) of the neighboring county of Carmarthenshire.

On the troop ship to Secundus Kana shares a cabin with Swordtan Trig Hansu, who seems pleased that Kana has had special training in extra-terrestrial contact. From Secundus Yorke's Horde proceeds to Fronn, where Kana is paired with Deke Mills, a veteran close to being promoted to Swordtan. While the Horde is marching to meet their employer, a Llor prince contending for the throne of a kingdom, Kana and another swordsman detect a spy hidden in a caravan of Venturi merchants. Kana and his companion are obliged to shoot the spy dead when they see that he is armed with a flamer, a Mech weapon that is absolutely forbidden on Fronn.

However, the contagion – characterised by a grey goo – leaked from its containers and infected the ship, converting its 8,000 crew into the undead. Cody observes from her vantage point that the remaining ships in the docking bay are being filled with the zombies, who are attempting to leave the Vector and spread their contagion throughout the galaxy. After escaping from the shuttle, Sartoris meets up with Solo, Chewbacca and Trig, then sacrifices himself to allow them to escape, after revealing he has been bitten by an undead and is himself turning into a zombie. They return to the shuttle and successfully leave the Vector, but discover that a zombie has made it aboard the shuttle and killed the two remaining original survivors.

The MS-20 includes a frequency-voltage converter, envelope follower and gate extractor which can be used to drive it with an external signal. The Offa's Dyke national trail makes a steep ascent of the hill's northern slopes and then heads south eastwards along the broad ridge of the Black Mountain and the Hatterrall Ridge. A more gentle path to the summit follows the crest of the northwest- facing scarp, known as Ffynnon y Parc, from the road summit about 1 mile / 1.7 km to the southwest at Gospel Pass. There is also a clear, but unpaved path which passes along the edge of the escarpment to the east with good views over the countryside towards Hay-on-Wye. It leads to the trig point at the Black Hill (Herefordshire), and continues on to the south-east dropping down the stony knife-edge ridge towards Longtown.

Cardigan Rock Sequence revealed This rock stretches southwest as far as Newport, but Cemaes Head lies north of the Ceibwr Bay Fault, which runs largely WSW – ENE from Ceibwr Bay to Cardigan. These rocks are severely twisted and buckled, with even acute folds, a feature easily seen from the clifftops, though appreciated better from the sea. The soft composition of these sedimentary rocks also means that erosion by the sea through hydraulic action, abrasion and attrition is commonplace, and they are thus largely unsuitable for climbing. In 1840, George Nicholson in The Cambrian Traveller's Guide, and Pocket Companion, wrote : The highest part of the headland, at Pengarn (189m / 620 ft), grid reference SN 13214 48500, is marked by a pillar trig point (ref. 2097).

Ysgyryd Fawr has belonged to the National Trust since 1939. The summit offers views of the Sugar Loaf to the west, and Blorenge to the south, and the ridge is easily accessed on foot from the car park beside the B4521 Ross Road shown on the Ordnance Survey maps. The ascent is steep initially through woods, but gradual thereafter as open ground is reached, and a fine walk along the spine of the mountain to the highest point at the north end of the mountain at the trig point and chapel; allow two hours for the completion and return in good weather. A rough path follows the perimeter of the hill at a much lower level, and can be used as a circular route.

Using the route discovered by Graham, they followed the Dhauli river, passing the foot of the Rishi Ganga gorge, and climbed the Lata hills north of the gorge to reach a trig station set up by the Survey of India, the last in the area. The Haußelberg is a hill, above NN, in the Lüneburg Heath in the north German district of Celle. It is a popular viewing point in the otherwise very flat terrain of the Südheide Nature Park. New trig point on the Haußelberg In 1820 King George IV of England tasked the Professor of Astronomy and Director of the Observatory at Göttingen University, Carl Friedrich Gauss, to survey the Kingdom of Hanover. The mathematician Gauss used the summit of the Haußelberg as one of the triangulation stations for his land surveys, triangulating it to the Falkenberg, AMSL,AMSL = above mean sea level or, more specifically, above the European datum, Normalnull further west near Wardböhmen and to the Wilseder Berg, AMSL, to the north.

Older versions of the 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey map show a trig point at the summit of Calver Hill but all there is now is a pile of rubble and mining spoil to form a summit cairn. The fell is littered with signs of Calver Hill’s industrial past; there is a large disused quarry north-west of the summit cairn, there are also disused tips, pits and shafts from former lead mines. Lead mining reached its heyday in the 19th century in this area and they were some of the most productive mines in Yorkshire. Calver Hill was a Bole hill a place where the lead from the mines was smelted in an open air furnace which used the prevailing wind to increase the heat.

Central Bedfordshire Council and the National Trust commissioned Archetype architects to build a visitor centre known as the Chilterns Gateway Centre, on the very top of Dunstable Downs. The summit is right next to the B4541 road that crosses the hill, and so an ascent of the hill requires nothing more than getting out of a car at the highest point and walking across to the trig point. For those who wish to climb the hill from the base, it is possible to do a circular walk from the village of Whipsnade by following the Icknield Way Path and Chiltern Way, both of which are marked on Ordnance Survey maps. This circuit can be extended to take in the northern top of Five Knolls.

Haddon Hill is a prominent east-west aligned ridge in west Somerset, England, close to Hartford within the civil parish of Brompton Regis. It lies on the south-eastern fringe of Exmoor National Park though is separated from the Exmoor massif itself by the valleys of the rivers Haddeo and Exe The highest point of the ridge at OS grid reference SS 962286 is crowned by a trig point at above sea level. Much of the upper part of the hill is mapped as open access under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 and hence available for public access on foot. A couple of public footpaths traverse the hill north-south whilst numerous tracks run along its length.

Roy's technical skills and leadership set the high standard for which Ordnance Survey became known. Work was begun in earnest in 1790 under Roy's supervision, when the Board of Ordnance (a predecessor of part of the modern Ministry of Defence) began a national military survey starting with the south coast of England. Roy's birthplace near Carluke in South Lanarkshire is today marked by a memorial in the form of a large OS trig point.OSGR NS 826497 By 1791 the Board received the newer Ramsden theodolite (an improved successor to the one that Roy had used in 1784), and work began on mapping southern Great Britain using a five-mile baseline on Hounslow Heath that Roy himself had previously measured; it crosses the present Heathrow Airport.

The White Rose Walk, a 35-mile / 56 km trail located in North Yorkshire, England, was devised in 1968 by the Yorkshire Wayfarers, It starts at the Kilburn White Horse (National Grid Ref SE 514 813) and is completed by touching the trig point on top of Roseberry Topping (NZ 579 126). The walk whilst recognised by the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) as a long distance walk in itself, mixes and crosses with several other long distance paths including the Cleveland Way, the Coast to Coast Walk, and the Lyke Wake Walk. The route takes in the highest peaks in the area such as Live Moor, Carlton Moor, Sutton Bank, Cold Moor, the Wainstones and Urra Moor. The walk also passes Captain Cooks Monument on Easby Moor.

The coire is a deeply incised, fault- guided valley which has received the attention of geologists, especially the School of Geoscience at the University of Edinburgh who have concluded that the presence of glacial silt and sand in the valley along with a glacial spillway to the adjacent valley of the Edendon Water means that the coire had a large ice dammed lake during the last Ice age. This Proglacial lake drained away when the ice melted but has left evidence similar, but on a lesser scale, to the “parallel roads” in Glen Roy.University of Edinburgh (School of Geosciences.) Gives information on Coire Mhic-sith geology. The summit of the mountain is a gentle rise on the plateau and is only made obvious by the presence of an OS trig point.

A trig station on top of a former coastal defence bunker From 1942 until 1945, Cape Peron was the site of the "K" Battery complex, one of a chain of coastal gun emplacements defending the Perth region between Swanbourne in the north and Cape Peron in the south. "K" Battery was established as part of Australian coastal defences in 1942 following the fall of Singapore to the Axis powers and the imminent threat of invasion of Australia by Japanese forces. This chain of gun emplacements was colloquially named "Fortress Fremantle" and included sites at both Rottnest Island and Garden Island. During World War II, Fremantle was not only the Allied forces' largest submarine base in the southern hemisphere, it was also an important logistical port, troop station and location for ship repairs.

The remains of the 1814 road are the central feature of the ridge-top landscape. They relate historically, physically and visually to the undisturbed landscape to the east and to the various later transport and settlement developments to the west. From the apex of the ridge near the Woodford Trig Station there are extensive views on both sides of the road which conform with those described by early travellers giving a sense of the experience of travel along the early nineteenth century road even though parts of the surrounding area have been gradually developed with infrastructure such as sewerage pumping stations, pipelines and electricity power poles. The place has a strong or special association with a particular community or cultural group in New South Wales for social, cultural or spiritual reasons.

The summit plateau is L-shaped, incised in the middle by Rawthey Gill, and measures some from end to end. The rock of the plateau is millstone grit, with sandstone and limestone on the flanks, and the Dent Fault ends on the western slope. The highest point at Tarn Rigg Hill (678 m) is in enclosed ground (now with open access), but the trig point on Knoutberry Haw () is only two metres lower and provides excellent views of the Three Peaks, the Howgill Fells, the Lake District and surrounding countryside as far as Blackpool Tower on a clear day. Better views down Wensleydale and the Eden valley may be obtained from Grisedale Pike (), a slight projection on the eastern flank of Baugh Fell just over a mile from the summit.

Ros Hill is situated just above Chillingham, with its famous herd of cattle. Due to the wide enclosure of the cattle there are no paths on the western slopes, and the eastern slopes are featureless moor, so the best ascent option is to park at the summit of the minor road that crosses Hepburn Moor just to the south of the summit, giving a walk just over half a mile long and taking about half an hour. The summit is marked by a trig point and nearby there is a rather unusual walk-in toposcope built into the wall with four separate plaques. The view is panoramic and very extensive, and on a clear day, a total of seven castles can be seen from the summit, including the one on Holy Island.

Fuar Tholl’s best feature is the rough stone filled Coire Mainnrichean on the western side of the mountain, which has the spectacular 500 foot high cliffs of the Mainreachan Buttress within it. The buttress is one of the finest ice climbing venues in Scotland with Andy Nisbet having pioneered many of the routes. The one kilometre long summit ridge has three high points, the 907 metre main top is marked by a trig point and is situated at the eastern end of the ridge above the eastern corrie which gives the mountain its name. The top of the Mainreachan Buttress is the second top with a height of 895 metres while the third peak is Creag Mainnrichean at the western end of the summit ridge with a height of 857 metres.

The construction party reached Mount Davies in the Tomkinson Ranges at the north-west corner of South Australia on 4 December 1955. On 26 June 1956, after the Gunbarrel Highway had reached Giles, and the airstrip was laid out, Beadell returned to Mount Davies to begin a solo reconnaissance towards the south-east to survey a route for another road to link up with Emu Field. There had been recent rains which made the going tough, and early in the journey he suspected that a front axle of his four- wheel drive vehicle was broken due to slow progress in moist sand. He continued on as he had seen a cluster of rocky mountains in the distance (Mount Lindsay), which would be useful as a survey trig point.

The Imperial prison barge Purge breaks down in a distant, uninhabited part of space. Its only hope appears to lie with the Star Destroyer Vector, drifting nearby, derelict and seemingly abandoned. When a boarding party from the Purge is sent to scavenge for parts, only half of them come back, bringing with them a contagion so lethal that within hours, almost all aboard the Purge are dead – the half-dozen survivors include two teenage brothers, Kale and Trig Longo, the ruthless captain of the guards, Jareth Sartoris, and chief medical officer, Zahara Cody, all of whom seem to possess natural immunity. The Purge's onboard computer informs Cody that there are also two survivors in isolation, and Cody leaves the medibay to release them and administer an antidote synthesized from her blood by the incumbent 21B medical droid "Waste".

A new version of the Surface Pen was launched in 2014 with the Surface Pro 3. Based on technology developed by N-trig (a separate company at the time, though subsequently acquired by Microsoft), the Surface Pro 3 version lacks the eraser tip present in the previous generation; erasing is done by drawing over the ink strokes while holding down one of two physical buttons on the side, above the button used for right-clicking. A third button, located in place of the eraser tip, sends a Bluetooth signal to a paired Surface PC which instantly opens OneNote, even when the device is locked (although advanced editing functions are disabled in this case). Unlike the Wacom-powered Surface Pen, it requires two batteries: one AAAA battery for stylus operation, and two size 319 coin cell batteries for the top button.

Ski lifts of the ski resort near Torre, on January 2007 The actual elevation of this area is 1,993 metres (6,637 feet), according to measures realized by the Instituto Geográfico do Exército (a military organization). Right in the highest point of the mountain range, situated in the middle of a roundabout, near a road that connects the cities of Seia and Covilhã, a trig point that shows the highest point in Serra da Estrela was built. Near Torre, there are a restaurant, stores with typical products of this region, like the Serra da Estrela cheese, and a ski center called Vodafone Ski Resort, situated in the municipality of Seia. However, the nearest urban area of this place is the city of Covilhã, away, and the nearest accommodations are situated in the village of Penhas da Saúde, 10 minutes away.

In 1975, the third series added Dean Lawrence as gypsy Tyso Boswell, yet another character from a minority as Price was determined that the Tomorrow People could be from any ethnic or society background. Chris disappears after only appearing in one episode (his absence is never explained) while telepathic secret agent Tricia Conway appears in two stories before fully breaking out in the series climax which saw the young heroes menaced by old rival, Jedikiah. Viewers saw on screen why the youngsters have to maintain their secrecy and constant vigilance from the rest of humanity, as the British Secret Intelligence Service ruthlessly hunt them down for their own purposes in the opening adventure. This series also saw the group visit an alien world for the first time when the Galactic Trig dispatches them to help the telepathic population of the planet Peerie.

Sgairneach Mhòr has extensive southern slopes which include the subsidiary tops of Màm Bàn (919 metres) and Meallan Buidhe (879 metres) and descend to the glen of the Allt Shallainn which is the main tributary of Loch Garry. Two distinct ridges go north and east from the summit enclosing Coire Creagach which is rocky but not overly steep giving a sporting scramble to the summit. The summit of the mountain is a SW-NE orientated plateau with the highest point never in doubt, standing at the NE end close to the edge of Coire Creagach and being marked by an OS trig point surrounded by a low stone built wind shelter. The summit of the mountain was given as 500 metres SW of the present position in the original 1891 version of Munro's Tables,Database of British and Irish Hills.

Follyfoot fishery by the A38 south of North Petherton North Petherton used to be a market town, with the right to hold a market having been granted in 1318, along with the right to an annual fair. In the past the town hosted a Starkey Knight and Ford brewery on Fore Street (demolished in the late 1960s), several maltings, a light engineering works (Trig Engineering, since moved to the Huntworth Business Park adjacent to the nearby Junction 24 of the M5 motorway), and in earlier times at least 7 watermills. Basket making and the manufacture of associated products including wicker furniture, was also a significant industry, at one time employing over 100 people in small factories and homes, until its decline in the second half of the 20th century. The products were distributed nationally via the railway station at Bridgwater.

Starting from the Wye Bridge in Monmouth, the Wysis Way heads eastwards up The Kymin and into the Forest of Dean. Heading primarily eastwards, the trail goes through Hillersland before continuing through the Forest, passing through Nailsbridge, Harrow Hill and Mitcheldean on its way to the top of May Hill () and views of the River Severn. From May Hill, it continues eastward through Glasshouse, Taynton, Tibberton and the edge of Highnam before reaching Gloucester. At Gloucester, the trail starts to head more southerly but still in an eastern direction up to the trig point on Robinswood Hill () before continuing southeasterly through Painswick, Bisley and Oakridge Lynch where it turns east along the River Frome and the Thames and Severn Canal to Daneway and Sapperton, Gloucestershire before reaching its end in Kemble, where it meets the Thames Path.

Cheriton Hill is a hill overlooking the English Channel near Folkestone in the south-east corner of Kent, England. The relatively low-lying hill (reaching only 188 metres above sea level) is covered with farmland, villages, narrow lanes, and footpaths. The highest point is on a covered reservoir next to the trig point; the highest natural point is nearby, probably close to the road to the village of Paddlesworth, near a transmitter mast, but the relatively flat summit gives no real impression of being on top of a hill. The Cheriton Channel Tunnel terminal from the Pilgrims' Way By contrast, the southern edge of the hill is a steep escarpment which carries the ancient track named Pilgrims' Way, which is believed to date from 500–450 BC, and which runs from Folkestone along the North Downs hills.

The Wainstones on Hasty Bank The original route began at Scarth Wood Moor trig point, followed the Alum/Jet Miners Track from Live Moor to Hasty Bank, then to Smuggler's Trod, Bloworth, Ironstone Railway, Esklets, White Cross (Fat Betty), Shunner Howe, Hamer, Blue Man-i'-th'-Moss, Wheeldale Stepping Stones, Fen House, Tom Cross Rigg, Snod Hill, Lilla Howe, Jugger Howe ravine, Helwath, Pye Howe Rigg, to Ravenscar (Raven Hall Hotel). This route is no longer possible as a section is within the Ministry of Defence controlled area at RAF Fylingdales Early Warning Radar Station. Boundary Stone, Urra Moor Most crossings now follow the classic route, a variation of the original.

Scarth Wood Moor The walk is usually done from west to east although it can be done in either direction. A successful crossing must be completed within 24 hours (a ski crossing in 24 hours daylight is also acceptable). There is no exact route but the Lyke Wake Club and its successor have rules regarding what can be considered a successful crossing. For record purposes the walk starts at its original departure point, the Ordnance Survey Trig point on Scarth Wood Moor, near Osmotherley, (NGR: SE 459 997) and finishes in the bar of the Raven Hall Hotel in Ravenscar. (NGR: NZ 981 018) For practical purposes the acceptable end points are the Lyke Wake Stone adjacent to Sheep Wash car park at Osmotherley Reservoir at the western end and Beacon Howes car park where there is a second Lyke Wake Stone at the eastern end.

Interior of modern cairn The site is open to the public April to September and has a small visitor centre. The 1940s excavations have been partly covered by a concrete dome replicating the second cairn (although the dome is much higher than the cairn) so that visitors can go inside what was once a solid cairn and see the reconstructed graves, and outside this the surrounding post holes and graves are marked by being filled with colour-coded gravel like an archaeological plan, with the red gravel indicating upright pits, and the white gravel denoting the alleged Christian burials. The current display attempts to show all the main phases of the site at the same time. Cairnpapple Hill is the 445th highest Marilyn (sub 2000' peaks) in Scotland (Out of 571 total Marilyns) - the true top is to the south beside a trig point.

Rutgers University has preserved 55 mature elms on and in the vicinity of Voorhees Mall on the College Avenue Campus in New Brunswick, New Jersey in addition to seven disease-resistant trees that have been planted in this area of the campus in recent years. The largest surviving urban forest of American elms in North America is believed to be in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where close to 200,000 elms remain. The city of Winnipeg spends $3M annually to aggressively combat the disease utilizing Dursban Turf and the Dutch Trig vaccine, losing 1500–4000 trees per year. Governmental agencies, educational institutions or other organizations in most of the states that are within the United States maintain lists of champion or big trees that describe the locations and characteristics of those states' largest American elm trees (see List of state champion American elm trees).

The line formation is still very evident as a vacant plot of land stretching in a straight line to Hautapu for 4 km between Victoria Road East and Victoria Road West and tree-lined within the town boundary. VTNZ currently has its testing station located in the grounds of the old rail yard. All evidence of the railway yard has been erased with exception of a loading bank, the stockyard platform and the remains of the locomotive inspection pit on the site of the old loco depot. In early 2015 the old 3-hectare yard was put up for tender after the last business Summit Grains moved from the former public works warehouse site, In early 2016 details were released by Hamilton-based Trig Group of a multi-million dollar development called Lakewood Cambridge, with the construction of at least half a dozen building starting in June 2017.

A trig point at , near the Brecon Beacons Mountain Centre , on the near The Brecon Beacons National Park was established in 1957, the third of the three Welsh parks after Snowdonia in 1951 and the Pembrokeshire Coast in 1952. It stretches from Llandeilo in the west to Hay-on-Wye in the northeast and Pontypool in the southeast, covering and encompassing four main regions – the Black Mountain in the west, reaching 802 metres (2631 feet) at Fan Brycheiniog, Fforest Fawr and the Brecon Beacons in the centre, including the highest summit in the park and in South Wales at Pen y Fan 886 metres (2,907 feet) and the confusingly named Black Mountains in the east, where the highest point is Waun Fach 811 metres (2,661 feet). The county contains a sizeable area of the North Pennines, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, primarily west of Tow Law and Barnard Castle. The highest point (county top) of historic County Durham is the trig point (not the summit) of Burnhope Seat, height , between Weardale and Teesdale on the border with historic Cumberland in the far west of the county. The local government reorganisation of 1974 placed the higher Mickle Fell south of Teesdale (the county top of Yorkshire) within the administrative borders of Durham (where it remains within the ceremonial county), although it is not generally recognised as the highest point of Durham. The two main dales of County Durham (Teesdale and Weardale) and the surrounding fells, many of which exceed in height, are excellent hillwalking country, although not nearly as popular as the nearby Yorkshire Dales and Lake District national parks.

The zombie is shot by Cody – who they had previously thought killed when the shuttle ready room she was hiding in was destroyed by the zombies – and she points out that the rest of the escaped ships are no longer controlled, as they watch two infested TIE fighters collide with each other and explode. Cody theorises that Blackwing is only effective when in range of the original contagion source on the Destroyer, and that now removed from the source the zombies have again "died". The four survivors leave the Vector and the now-derelict ships, and find a planet where they sell the shuttle to a pirate group. Solo and Chewbacca leave to re-buy their impounded ship, while Cody and Trig use their share of the sale to visit a distant planet – home to one of the dead prison guards, and deliver a note he was in the process of writing when Blackwing took him.

This original reservation consisted of an amalgamation of six adjoining parcels of Crown Land that had previously been reserved from sale for public recreation, the preservation of native flora or village purposes. Since this initial modest reservation twenty separate additions have been made to the park, consisting of former public reserves, vacant Crown land, trig reserves, state forest, donations of freehold land, and land purchased by the State government. Thus the initial park reservation was promptly followed by two donations of private land. In 1973, Sir Roy Grounds and Mr Ken Myer offered their property named Penders to the government on the basis that it be reserved as national park. The property, covering 220 hectares, included a two kilometre frontage to the Pacific Ocean and bushland stretching from Middle Beach to Bithry Inlet. In the same year, David Yencken offered his Baronda property, covering 30 hectares at Nelson Lagoon, for the same purpose. These two additions were critical in establishing core areas of the national park that would subsequently be added to and joined to create a viable conservation reserve.
