The film's marketing played up the racier aspects of the story, and a "skinny-dipping" sequence shot in silhouette (which still largely survives in the Library of Congress) was used in the films advertising extensively. In most cases, scenes of penetration were either cut out or replaced with alternate shots. One exception to this was Deep Throat, which was released uncensored. On filming racier scenes for the late night show, the actress said she felt "petrified" and was nervous but that filming the scenes in one day made them easier to do. Franks said that Jade is shown to be a "weirdo" as her sinister side is revealed, explaining that Jade is "a bit mental". The later air time allowed the scenes to be pushed further and the episodes did not have to hide anything due to their darker nature which would lead them to become "pretty gruesome". It was revealed that Jade's sinister side would leave the characters in serious danger and that not all the characters involved in the teen storyline would survive the series.

The initial script of Enchanted, written by Bill Kelly, was bought by Disney's Touchstone Pictures and Sonnenfeld/Josephson Productions for a reported sum of $450,000 in September 1997. The script was written for three years, but it was thought to be unsuitable for Walt Disney Pictures because it was "a racier R-rated movie", inspired by the adult-risque comedy movies in the 1980s and 1990s such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High and American Pie. The first draft of the script had Giselle being mistaken for a stripper when she arrives in New York City. To the frustration of Kelly, the screenplay was rewritten several times, first by Rita Hsiao and then by Todd Alcott.

Miley Stewart also mentions that she intentionally patterned Hannah's look after her godmother Aunt Dolly Parton, though it was never officially stated if Parton was the true inspiration behind the character's wardrobe, Hannah's look does draw heavy influence from the real-life Queen of Country as she is the real-life godmother of Cyrus. Miley previously experienced an image crisis in "Yet Another Side of Me" in which she grew concerned that Hannah's look might become outdated. After considering a "Techno Hannah," "Half-Dolla Hannah," (Hip hop) and the "Anti-Hannah," (Grunge) Miley decides that her fans like her for who she is. In real-life, Cyrus wanted to shed her "Disney-image" and started adopting racier outfits and cut and dyed her long brunette hair in a blonde pixie cut.

This was Moore's first film after a contract dispute between her, her husband John McCormick, and her studio First National caused the couple to suddenly leave California for New York, with the intentions of making films either with another studio or overseas. Their problems were solved and Her Wild Oat was made upon her return. Originally they had planned to make Synthetic Sin, but it was necessary to complete the film quickly. Her Wild Oat was a simple story (originally racier until rewritten by Neilan to play up the comic aspects), and could be shot entirely in California (even though it is set in the New York area... palm trees can be seen in the background of the resort supposedly on the east coast) and mostly on location and using existing sets.

The accompanying music is judged to go with the images on screen, for example a playground motif for girls rope-skipping down the street, jaunty music for trips to the seaside, and racier sounds for a sequence on dating and nightlife. La cortigiana is a brilliant parody of Castiglione's Il Cortegiano, and features the adventures of a Sienese gentleman, Messer Maco, who travels to Rome to become a cardinal.

The English-language adaptation of Missions of Love has received mixed to positive ratings: Rebecca Silverman of Anime News Network gave the first volume an overall rating of a C+ calling it a quick read, much racier than Toyama's earlier works, and telling readers who do not like an unequal romance to "steer clear". She described the art as "easy on the eyes" and sensual while calling it a "very uncomfortable romance". John Rose from The Fandom Post gave volume one an A rating calling it "Incredibly smart, sexy and possessing" and also praised the artwork. Darkstorm from Anime UK News gave the series a 6/10 saying that although the story is unoriginal and has overused things such as a school setting and love triangle, the layout of the story is great and the heart is in the right place when it comes to it.

"Not Over You", which poignantly evokes the difficulty of getting over someone, is one of two songs DeGraw co-wrote with Ryan Tedder for Sweeter, which was recorded in several locations, including Ryan's studio in Denver, Blackbird Studio in Nashville, producer Butch Walker's space in Venice, CA, and the legendary Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood. The album finds DeGraw experimenting with new sounds, which resulted in a potent, swaggering strut, both musically and lyrically, on sexually charged songs like the R&B-infused; "Sweeter" and "Radiation." The racier moments are balanced out by more emotionally transparent songs like the vigorous "Not Over You", and the uplifting "Soldier" and "You Know Where I'm At," which convey vulnerability while still managing to feel distinctly masculine. He decided to work with co-writers for the first time as a way to broaden his horizons, such as Ryan Tedder, who also co-wrote and produced "Sweeter", and Andrew Frampton.

A Little South of Sanity is a live album by American hard rock band Aerosmith, released on October 20, 1998 by Geffen Records. The two-disc album featured recordings taken while the band was on the Nine Lives Tour, which began in 1997 and was still ongoing at the time of the live album release, and the Get a Grip Tour, which the band was on in 1993 and 1994. This album was the only Aerosmith album to receive the Parental Advisory sticker, primarily due to lead singer Steven Tyler shouting profanities in between songs and modifying some song lyrics to racier ones, although some other song lyrics had profanity in their original studio versions as well (even their next studio album, Just Push Play, contained profanity). The release of the album enabled Aerosmith to complete their contract with Geffen Records that helped lead to their newfound success in the 1980s and early 1990s.
