In 1992, Nirvana's "odds-and-sods" release, Incesticide, featured several songs recorded for Goodier's BBC show. The album reached the top 40 on both sides of the Atlantic and achieved Platinum status in America. A further session recording was "Something in the Way", released on the 2011 edition of Nevermind. When Simon Mayo left Breakfast Show in 1993, former BBC Radio 1 controller Matthew Bannister approached Steve Wright to take over the slot.

Then in 2003,he got a staff job as an admin assistant on the Independent newsdesk "writing odds and sods after hours" before moving up to a staff reporter role. Simon Kelner then offered him the job of editing the Pandora diary column. He then worked as a travel writer (which he occasionally still does), and news editor.

The acoustic guitar version of the song on The Who Sell Out was recorded at De Lane Lea Studios on 24 October 1967. A different version of the song, using electric guitar, was used in 1967 as the B-side of the "I Can See for Miles" single in the US and Australia. The B-side version used a mono mix. A stereo remix of this version was also included on the 1998 remastered version of the Odds and Sods album.

Good Music is the fifth studio album by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, released in 1986. The album's working title was Contact, after the final song off the album (hence the contact sheet of photographs on the cover), but it was changed to Good Music in its final stages. "Fantasy" was also recorded for this album but was instead featured as the non-LP B-side to the "Good Music" single, which peaked at #83 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also appeared on Jett's odds-and-sods album, Flashback.

Only months later the band released Horns of Ammon, an album of songs recorded with Carol Sandin, primarily dating back to 2003-2005, released on Homeskool Records; it included the single "Monster", as well as the biker anthem "HAWG!!!", previously released as a single through the extremely limited- edition Grey Ghost series in Houston. Though the album was essentially an "odds and sods" release, documenting a set of more melodic and textural music than appeared on the other "official" albums contemporaneously released, it received largely positive reviews. The band released their next and eighth official studio album, entitled Bag of Hammers, in September 2012.

The band likely began recording the song in 1970 during sessions for an EP that was eventually aborted when Townshend began focusing on his Lifehouse rock opera (these same sessions also yielded “I Don’t Even Know Myself”, “Water”, “Postcard”, and “Now I’m a Farmer”). It was eventually completed in the spring of 1971 during sessions for Who's Next, which included several numbers originally intended for Lifehouse. Evidence that the piece had been started but not completed can be heard in a BBC performance of the song from December 1970 in which the band mimed to the studio recording, which was faded out before the third verse (then likely not yet recorded) could be heard. The version on the remastered edition of Odds and Sods is longer than the original, which had been slightly edited.

At the time, San Pedro was more receptive to classic rock cover bands than to original acts, and the nearby Los Angeles' punk scene was not yet prepared to take a band from San Pedro seriously. One band that did take the group seriously was another struggling L.A. punk band, Black Flag. Tamburovich's influence and input remained with his friends and former bandmates for the whole of Minutemen's existence; Watt, Boon, and Tamburovich co-founded New Alliance Records in 1980; Tamburovich would contribute lyrics to several Minutemen songs and sometimes travel with the band as a roadie. No formal studio recordings of The Reactionaries exist, but a demo recording (possibly from a rehearsal tape) made in January 1979 of the song "Tony Gets Wasted In Pedro" appears on Minutemen's odds-and-sods compilation album The Politics of Time, first released in 1984 on New Alliance.
