At the 2009 SEA Games in Laos, Pang, then 17 years old, saw his medal dreams crushed cruelly not once, but twice, when he finished fourth in the men's 200m and 400m individual medleys. He did not give up. Two years later, he was back at the 2011 SEA Games at Jakabaring Aquatics Centre in Palembang, determined to win a medal in his sole event, the 400m freestyle, but finished fifth. That could be said to be his lowest point in his swimming career.

Nevertheless, in 1802 Morse followed up his original work by co-publishing A New Gazetteer of the Eastern Continent with Rev. Elijah Parish, the latter of whom Ralph H. Brown asserts did the "lion's share of the work in compiling it".
To unify the songs together smoothly, a single backing beat may be added as background throughout the megamix, although this is not a must. This backing beat is kept basic so as to simplify mixing and to not compete with the music. These mixes are usually several minutes long at minimum, going up to a half- hour or an hour, or even more sometimes. Ultimix is known for "flashback medleys" producing at least one or two every year based on popular songs of the year.

Most of the album consists of three medleys of tightly arranged interconnected songs. The first starts with "Dancing Madly Backwards (on a Sea of Air)" and ends with "Myopic Void". The second starts with "Thousand Days of Yesterdays (Intro)" and ends with "Thousand Days of Yesterdays (Time Since Come and Gone)".

Despite the Sweet's success, the relationship with their management was becoming increasingly tense. While they had developed a large fan-base among teenagers, the Sweet were not happy with their 'bubblegum' image. The Sweet had always composed their own heavy-rock songs on the B-sides of their singles to contrast with the bubblegum A-sides which were composed by Chinn and Chapman. During this time, Sweet's live performances consisted of B-sides, album tracks, and various medleys of rock and roll classics; they avoided older 'novelty' hits like "Funny Funny" and "Poppa Joe".

Vauxhall Gardens, from the Microcosm of London, 1810 Pleasure gardens, which levied a small entrance fee and provided a variety of entertainment, had become extremely popular in London by the eighteenth century. There were 38 gardens which are known to have provided music. Perhaps the most famous of these were Vauxhall Gardens (1661-1859), south of the Thames.

However Cobo felt that he was "less convincing" on "Quiero" and "Tú, Sólo Tú", which she regarded "stuck-in-the-'s 80s funk/disco nuances", due to Miguel taking it "all so seriously". Mario Tarradell of The Dallas Morning News gave the album a "B" rating complimenting the record's "crisp, clean" sound, Miguel's "melodic voice", Mariachi 2000's participation on "La Bikina" which Tarradell calls the best track on Vivo. Tarradell also lauded the live renditions of "Quiero" and "Suave" as "pleasurable". However, he opined Miguel "milked the whole Latin standards thing too long" on the Romance medleys.
Indeed, the entirety of his band are the subjects of this paean, being described as exceptional drinkers with a devil-may-care attitude to life ("And the devil gets us early enough")."Dschinghis Khan" lyrics, Diggiloo.net The performance is in a similarly flamboyant style, with one member of the band (Louis Hendrik Potgieter) dressed as a caricature of the warlord himself and capering about the stage, seducing the female members of the band and laughing as appropriate."Dschinghis Khan" music video, Google Videos The song makes many appearances in medleys and best-of collections of the Contest.

In 1903, Victor offered a series of "Deluxe Special" records, which played at 60 rpm and sold for two dollars. Fewer than fifty titles were issued, and the series was dropped in 1906, due to poor sales.

" James Reed of The Boston Globe commented, "[a]t 44, Jackson looks terrific ... She stayed in step with her dancers, and she was in strong voice and as seductive as ever." However, Reed called the show "a strange animal", questioning several hits being "shoehorned into brisk medleys." Ben Ratliff of The New York Times felt the show's best moments occurred during its third segment, with Jackson "relaxed and athletic", as well as "tension free." Chris Richards of The Washington Post praised the "laserlight precision" of Jackson's "delicate" voice, adding "if you paid to hear Jackson sing, you certainly got that.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow stated, "...Most intriguing among Schifrin's arrangements are Echoes of Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie Fireworks, which are really medleys of Duke's and Dizzy's songs. Not all of the shorter pieces... are too essential, and, on the whole, Schifrin's follow- up project (More Jazz Meets the Symphony) would result in a stronger record. However, this generally interesting set is still worth exploring; it was good to hear Lalo Schifrin in a jazz setting again". He gave the album a four star reting, which is generally reserved for releases of high merit.

The five original members (Rinaldi, Sarrus, Filipelli, Rego and Fechner) reunited on television in Michel Drucker's show, Vivement Dimanche in 2009. They spoke at length about their career. It was the first time since Rego's departure in 1971, that they got together in the same room. From 2008 to 2011, at the initiative of Jean Sarrus (who's always tried to keep the spirit of the band alive), Rinaldi and Sarrus reunited and toured as Les Charlots, singing medleys of the group's biggest hits for the nostalgia tour "Age Tendre et Têtes de Bois", featuring other French artists from the '60s and '70s.

These medleys, consisting largely of one-hit wonders from those respective decades, invoke a sort of call-and-response with the crowd, where McCurdy sings a line or two from each song, cueing the audience to continue that bit. This style quickly attracted a devoted cult following of fans, many of whom would (and still do) attend his shows on a weekly basis. McCurdy's act has also brought increased involvement of his sound and light man, Jim "Pipe Jim" Schafelburger, an entertaining aspect in its own right.
A video which Yankovic later jokingly dubbed "Star Wars Unplugged" was filmed for the song, after The Phantom Menace premiered in theaters. Much like Yankovic's previous albums, Running with Scissors features a polka medley of then-current hit songs called "Polka Power!". The song was later released as a promotional single in Germany, where Yankovic's recording label felt a polka song might have more success. This was the second time that one of Yankovic's polka medleys was released as a single; in 1985, Scotti Brothers Records released "Hooked on Polkas", from the album Dare to Be Stupid, in Japan.
She performed popular songs from her repertoire, medleys of her beginnings, and classics from icons Juan Gabriel, Lola Beltran, and José Alfredo Jiménez. The intimate show was full of surprises, including the unexpected appearance by Marco Antonio Solís, who was on hand to personally congratulate her and perform a duet. Singers such as Pepe Aguilar, Cristian Castro, and Enrique Iglesias also sent words of love and support during the show. The two-hour special aired in October 2014 via Estrella TV. She ended the Yo Soy La Mujer tour in Guatemala among a crowd of over eighteen thousand people.
Tour Generación RBD en Vivo (English: RBD Generation Tour Live) is the first live album released by Mexican pop band RBD. The album was recorded live at a concert from the band's Tour Generación RBD in Mexico City's Palacio de los Deportes. It features songs from their debut album Rebelde, one new live track, two medleys of popular songs in the album's Mexican edition, and on the edition released in the US, a track that later appeared on their second studio album, Nuestro Amor. The album was certified platinum (Latin) in the United States (for over 100,000 copies sold) in February 2006.
The album's ninth track, "Blind Date", was recorded quickly during a strict three- week recording schedule. "Am I Blue" was finalized during the same aforementioned period and was originally written by Harry Akst. Two corresponding medleys, one of "It's Only a Paper Moon" and "I Like Him" by Streisand and "It's Only a Paper Moon" and "I Like Her" by Caan, are back-to- back tracks. "More Than You Know", which was originally included on Streisand's Simply Streisand album in 1967, follows and was also used as the B-side track for the commercial release of "How Lucky Can You Get".
She was raised mostly by her mother in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado, after her parents' separation. She started dance classes at the age of three, focusing on jazz, ballet, and tap. When she was four years old, her aunt put her in a church play she was directing; after that, she began doing community children's theatre in her hometown. As a teenager, Benoist performed anonymously at Disneyland in various medleys of musical songs for three summers with the Academy of Theatre Arts, a musical theatre school she was attending, located in Littleton, Colorado, run by Paul Dwyer and Alann Worley.
The rest of the song is a more conventional rhythm at a slower tempo than that seen on Metallica's previous three albums. The song has not been performed live in its entirety since 1989. It has, however, always formed part of the medleys of songs from …And Justice for All often played by the band in concert during the 1990s as an alternative to playing full songs, many of which were seen as too difficult because of the numerous guitar parts. One such "Justice Medley" was featured on its 1993 live album Live Shit: Binge & Purge.
The orchestra's take on the late 1970s and early 1980s vogue for pop classical medleys, "Classical Muddly" – produced by their manager Martin Lewis and released by Springtime!/Island Records in 1981 – is characteristic of their sound; it was inspired by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's "Hooked on Classics". The single, which consisted of the group's previous recordings sped up, amalgamated and synchronized to a disco beat, was a top 40 hit in the UK Singles Chart. As the years passed, the musicians eventually became accustomed to, and more skilled at playing their instruments, which diminished the novelty of the group.
The album was promoted on her successful The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour show. The title of the album was reported to be taken from the staging of such songs on her television show—which she performed in front of a torch spotlight. Bittersweet White Light was also the first of Cher's album's to feature medleys, "Jolson Medley", and with track mixed, "How Long Has This Been Going On" with "The Man I Love" and "Why Was I Born" with "The Man That Got Away". The other albums that got tracks mixed together were Take Me Home and Prisoner.
The music has inspired several album releases. Mother saw the release in 1989 of an album primarily composed of vocal arrangements of pieces from its soundtrack; this album was re-released in 2004 in an expanded form. Earthbound had a soundtrack album associated with the game released in 1994 and again in 2004 that contained both original tracks from the game and medleys of multiple tracks. A compilation release, Mother 1+2, received a soundtrack album release in 2003, as well as an album of MIDI piano versions of songs from the two games in 2006.
League of Legends Live was held on the eve of the finals, November 3, in Beijing National Aquatics Center (or known as the Water Cube) to commemorate the tournament, featuring international artists and League of Legends community musicians. It featured performances of a wide variety of music from League of Legends, including Get Jinxed, hits from Pentakill, DJ Sona, Warsongs, Star Guardian, The Curse Of The Sad Mummy, medleys of a wide variety of Worlds and Champion themes, DJ and music producer Alan Walker, and many other tracks over the course of the 90-minute show.
"Turn It into Love" was the sixth single to be released from the album Kylie and was written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. Considered something of a hidden gem, Kylie performed the song (as part of medleys) during her On a Night Like This Tour and Showgirl Homecoming shows in the 2000s, as well the Mushroom Records 25th birthday concert in Melbourne, Australia in 1998. Also a favourite track among Stock Aitken Waterman enthusiasts, the song also featured on the 2005 UK compilation album Stock Aitken Waterman Gold, one of just two tracks included that were not released as a single in the UK.
While the previous year's Ultimate Live Experience tour presented Gold Experience prior to its release, the long overdue album had finally hit shelves in late 1995 and this tour was now a "proper" promotion. However, by this time, Prince had been playing some of the material for nearly two years and many of the songs were shortened to brief medleys. Conversely, Prince had formerly said he would not play "Prince" material anymore, but that idea was apparently tossed to the wind with this tour. Several fan-favorites such as "The Cross", "Do Me, Baby" and "Sexy MF" were regulars, along with the Gold material.
Ben Kaplan from Canada.com noted that "Die Another Day", along with the performances of "4 Minutes" and "La Isla Bonita" are re-imagined as "parts of larger medleys, with Madonna giving shout-outs to techno, flamenco and old- school R&B; influences". This performance was included on the Sticky & Sweet Tour live CD and DVD release, recorded during Madonna's shows in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in December 2008. On July 26, 2012, while on The MDNA Tour, Madonna performed an exclusive club date at L'Olympia in Paris for only 2,700 fans and mixed "Die Another Day" with the song "Beautiful Killer" from her twelfth studio album MDNA.
A cover version of "Tori no Uta" appeared in the sequel of Front Wing's visual novel Time Leap titled Time Leap Paradise released in July 2009. Another cover version by Chihiro Yonekura appeared on her 2011 cover album Nakeru Anison. A cover version was released in January 2012 as an official demo for the Vocaloid 3 product IA: Aria on the Planetes; Lia is the voice provider of IA. "Tori no Uta"'s melody has also appeared in two of the medleys in Kumikyoku Nico Nico Douga. A portion of "Tori no Uta," sung by Nikki, is present in the Chinese hip-hop song "Looking Back" by Yin Ts'ang.
She resumed her performance with another three medleys. The first one is a medley of cover songs, "Epilog Cinta dari Bromley" by Sohaimi Mior Hassan and "Suratan Atau Kebetulan" by Kenny, Remy and Martin, followed by a medley of her songs again which was a medley of "Engkau Bagaikan Permata" and "Cahaya Seribu Liku". The final medley of the concert was a medley of three songs from Fragmen that were written by Indonesian songwriters and composers — "Sanubari", "Terbaik Bagimu" and "Kau Sangat Bererti". She finished the show by performing all the songs from Fragmen that were released as singles including "Jaga Dia Untukku", "Lebih Indah" and "Seluruh Cinta".
" Nickson said "there's plenty of risk-taking in the arrangements, such as using three whistles on 'Spoil the Dance,' or the duet between flute and fiddle on the gorgeous 'Harp and Shamrock'." Of the eleven tracks on the album, there are twenty-four tunes, half of which are reels, and the other half consisting of three double jigs, four slip jigs, one hornpipe, two polkas, one song and one fling. Ten of the tracks are medleys. The mix of traditional and modern tunes on the album lead to Allmusic commenting that "Lúnasa is masterful at finding good tunes" and noting they make "parts as complex as theirs sound easy.
"Good Times Bad Times" was rarely played live at Led Zeppelin concerts in its entirety. In a few instances in 1969 it was used as an introduction to "Communication Breakdown" (as seen in Led Zeppelin (Deluxe Edition)). It also appeared in almost complete form within the "Communication Breakdown" medley performed at the LA Forum on 4 September 1970, where it included a bass solo by Jones (as can be heard on the Led Zeppelin bootleg recording Live on Blueberry Hill), and several "Whole Lotta Love" medleys in 1971. It was also the opening song for Led Zeppelin's reunion show at the O2 Arena, London on 10 December 2007.

Music from the game was included on the album Star Ocean Perfect Sound Collection, released November 1, 1996 by Sony Records, which included arranged medleys of themes from the Super Famicom version by Sakuraba, Yoshiharu Gotanda, and Kazushi Satoh as well as voice tracks. An album containing music from the PSP version was released on January 30, 2008 by Sony Music and Square Enix which contained 68 tracks across two discs. Critics praised Sakuraba's progressive rock style, and highlighted his musical experimentation throughout the original Star Ocean score and First Departure.

In the US, they continued to release singles and a album, Little Games (1967). Although the records, overseen by pop producer Mickie Most, were mostly out-of-step with the audience's shift to an album- oriented, more diverse sound, the Yardbirds' frequent concert appearances at counter-culture venues were well-received. They were able to perform more experimental fare, such as "Dazed and Confused", the Page solo acoustic guitar piece "White Summer", and expanded, reworked versions and medleys of some of their earlier songs, as documented on the Page-produced Yardbirds '68 (2017). After a last American tour, the group disbanded in the summer of 1968.

EIBB conforms to the unique British band style, characteristically limiting its instrumentation to brass, including cornets, flugelhorn, tenor horns, euphoniums, baritones, trombones, and tubas, as well as percussion. The 35-member band performs from a repertoire which features original works for brass band, as well as arrangements of well known orchestral and wind band literature. "Weird Al" Yankovic, as seen in 2010, guest stars as the voice of Cheese Sandwich. The episode was first teased by Hasbro Vice President of Development Mike Vogel during a panel at San Diego Comic Con International in July 2013, where he hinted about a musical season 4 episode where "somebody will give [Pinkie Pie] a run for her partying money." The involvement of "Weird Al" Yankovic in the episode stemmed from a Twitter post by the parody musician, where he had linked to a user-created music video with scenes from Friendship Is Magic episodes set to "Polkarama!", one of his polka medleys.
His hour- and-a-half show consisted mainly of pop songs and ballads from Amarte Es un Placer and his earlier career, as well as medleys of boleros from the Romance- themed albums. During his concerts in Monterrey, he was joined by Cutbert Pérez's band Mariachi 2000 and performed live covers of Mario De Jesús Báez's "Y" and Rubén Fuentes "La Bikina". The shows included a large live-screen behind the stage and featured fireworks and confetti. Of Miguel's performances in Los Angeles, The Orange County Register editor Daniel Chang commented that he "delivered a classy show that was as much fun to watch as it was to hear".
He noted that Miguel "emotes a contagious energy through dramatic facial expressions, fetal-position-like contortions and physical outbursts in time with the music," and complimented his dance moves and the visual sets. Of his concert in Houston, Michael D. Clark of the Houston Chronicle wrote that Miguel "proved, once again, that it isn't necessary to change languages to reach U.S. audiences". He observed that Miguel seemed "determined to balance the upbeat with the overwrought" in contrast with his previous concerts, which were dominated by ballads. Clark was disappointed that the boleros were sung in medleys which did not allow any of them to stand out.
For the first of the afternoon concert's two sets, the band performed the compositions "Tatu", "Agharta Prelude", and "Maiysha" (from Get Up with It), making up Aghartas first disc of music. The second-set performances of "Right Off" (from Davis' 1971 Jack Johnson album), "Ife" (from Big Fun), and "Wili (= For Dave)" spanned the second disc; between the "Right Off" and "Ife" segments, the band improvised a passage based on "So What" (from the 1959 album Kind of Blue) for 41 seconds after Henderson started to play its ostinato.; ; . The pieces were performed in medleys, which were given generic track titles on Agharta, such as "Prelude" and "Interlude".
However, there is an exception to this, as in the Sol Cluster region, the Neo Atlas Faction of Archia scattered several anomalous Reyvateil factors in preparation for execution their "Human Evolution Project", which fundamentally allows anyone to connect their minds to a Song Server regardless of gender or Reyvateil awakening, yet if these humans suffer a strong surge of emotion, they will fall into a condition that will cause them to go berserk and their minds to be completely destroyed. This is known as a disease called the "Border Disease", and the Origin of said region, Tyria, has once jokingly called the humans possessing these anomalous factors "Medleys".
In 2019, Square Enix held a pair of concerts by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in Osaka on September 7 and in Tokyo on October 27, featuring music from Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Her second album, Opera Express and same-titled single were released in 1986. Both singles were edited 'radio friendly' versions from the continuous medleys found on aforementioned parent albums. Her music career stage was in Europe, mostly in France and Spain, but she also enjoyed tremendous success in South Africa with her debut single, The Lost Opera, reaching number 1 on the South African Springbok Charts in June 1985, and charting for 19 weeks. Called the blazing rebel of opera, Kimera blended two genres from opposite ends of the musical spectrum to create a new style of singing utilizing traditional operatic arias and a modern rhythmic pop beat.
As with the previous installments of the franchise, players must mimic the on- screen dancer's choreography to a chosen song using either motion controllers or the game's associated Just Dance Controller app on a smartphone. A new "Super" judgment was added between "Good" and "Perfect". The "Dance Lab" mode features medleys of choreography representing different professions and animals, while a new "Kids Mode" was designed to provide a gameplay experience and choreography tailored towards younger players. The Nintendo Switch version of the game features a new "Double Rumble" mode, which features routines based on different professions that leverage the "HD Rumble" functionality in the console's Joy-Con controllers to provide feedback.
Musical Theatre, offered for the first time in the 2009–2010 school year, is a mixed ensemble which performs songs from musicals, usually medleys, in addition to performing and critiquing solo songs during class. The all-women's show choir, Pizazz, was disbanded at the end of 2007, despite its numerous awards, due to lack of interest. At competitions, the Choral Department has received many awards and recognitions, as well as many "Superior" ratings over the past several years. All choral classes were taught by Michael Dombrow from Fall 2002 through Spring 2008, and all show choir performances were choreographed by John Gonzalez during this time.

During the final results show, he performed a duet with Keith Urban, singing Urban's single "Kiss a Girl", as well as a series of medleys with his fellow Season 8 contestants. Before the results were announced, Allen performed "We Are the Champions" with eventual runner-up Adam Lambert and Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen. On May 20, 2009, Kris Allen was declared the winner of the eighth season of American Idol, becoming the first married contestant to claim the title, as well as the sixth winner from the show's inception from the Southern United States. Allen also became the first winner to accept a trophy shaped like a microphone.
Grey continued to write competition medleys and other music in his position until departing in the 2013 season to play with the Glasgow Police Pipe Band. The band has not competed since the departure of its last drum sergeant Craig Stewart in 2018 and their subsequent failure to recruit a leading-drummer. Consequently, incumbent Pipe Major Sean McKeown and Pipe Sergeant Ian K. MacDonald, a Detective Constable and Detective respectively within the Toronto Police Service, played with the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band the following season in 2019. Until 2004, band leadership positions were exclusively filled by commissioned Toronto Police officers, usually of the rank of inspector.

Mona's Herald, Monday, 24 December 1956; Page: 8 Recalling his father, his son Howard claimed he developed his playing style from Carroll Gibbons, including adopting medleys where he would fuse two or three tunes together reminiscent of the style of Gibbons. Caine went on to form the Jim Caine Trio; comprising Caine, Tommy Cowley (double bass) and Maurice Gawne (drums) playing at various venues around the Isle of Man notable amongst which were the Villa Marina and the Arragon Hotel. None of the traditional Isan genres is commonly performed today; instead singers perform three-minute songs combining lam segments with luk thung or pop style sections, while comedians perform skits between blocks of songs. Mor lam sing performances typically consist of medleys of luk thung and lam songs, with electric instruments dominant and bawdy repartee. Sing comes from the English word 'racing' (a reference to the music's origin among Isan's biker fraternity; pai sing means 'to go racing about on motorbikes'). Lam in Laos has remained more conservative, and traditional styles are maintained, but massive exposure to Thai media and culture has led to increasing influence and the adoption of the more modern and popular Isan styles.
She told the audience, "Abang D (Adnan) is among the individuals that is responsible of taking me into this industry, I actually once stayed at his house back when I was becoming an artist. At the time, he just got married and he is yet to have any children, so I took shelter in an empty room inside his house." She resumed her performance with another three medleys.
One of the biggest challenges of solo jazz piano is the need to provide a compelling time feel, in part by emulating the rhythmic landscape normally provided by three or four players in a small group. By conceiving multiple "parts" and playing them with distinct volume levels and time feels (often with right hand chords ahead of the beat and the melody behind the beat), McKenna had a unique ability to reproduce, on his own, the sound of a small group. McKenna liked to create medleys around a common word or theme in song titles. He often combined ballads and up-tempo songs with standards, pop tunes, blues, and TV themes and folk songs.
Jon Bream commented in the Star Tribune that Miguel's presentation in Minneapolis was "one of the most ambitious concert spectacles ever presented at the theater" and that the singer had a "captivating presence," but added his music was "not particularly distinctive". He likened Miguel's uptempo songs to Earth, Wind & Fire albeit without the "rhythmic and jazzy sophistication," considered his ballads to be "conservative pop, bathed in synthesized strings with Chicago-like horn filigree," and felt let down by Miguel's choice to perform his boleros in medleys. On 24 October 2000, WEA released the Vivo live album and video from Miguel's concerts in Monterrey. AllMusic editor Perry Seibert gave the video album two-out-of-five stars.
A 254-show tour to support the album lasted over 14 months, and in August 1989, the band performed at the Moscow Music Peace Festival alongside other metal acts, such as Ozzy Osbourne, the Scorpions, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, and Skid Row. The tour's stage show included Tom Keifer being lowered to the stage while playing a white piano during their radio hit "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)". On April 17, 1990, the band released a video compilation called Tales from the Gypsy Road featuring four promo videos from Long Cold Winter plus two live medleys, the second of which contained a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's famous "Sweet Home Alabama".
Serghei Mariniuc (born February 14, 1969) is a Moldovan former swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. He represented the Unified Team and the Republic of Moldova in all three editions of the Olympic Games since 1992, and later became a top eight finalist in two individual medleys throughout his Olympic career, emerging him as the nation's most prominent swimmer. He also captured a silver medal in the 400 m individual medley at the 1993 FINA Short Course World Championships in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. When he moved to the United States in 1993, Mariniuc trained professionally for the Santa Clara Swim Club in California until he announced his official retirement in late 2000.
The single-player game of Band Brothers includes 35 normal songs, plus three unlockable songs. These are divided into the categories J-Pop, World, TV (anime/tokusatsu), Classic, and Game (includes a variety of medleys from Nintendo titles such as Mario, Fire Emblem, and Zelda). Each song has a number of parts available for the player to play, usually ranging from 6 to 8, and each part will generally be a different instrument, but many songs have more than one part played by the same instrument. In the Beginner mode, all notes are represented either by a D-Pad icon or a button icon, and any direction or face button respectively will automatically play the correct note.
Signed with Warner Bros. and Mercury Records in the 1980s, the Wright Brothers had nine singles reach Billboards Hot Country Singles chart. The band also recorded Shot Down in Hot Blood and a cover of "Jim Dandy" for the soundtrack of the 1987 Goldie Hawn movie Overboard, in which they also made a live appearance. The band's first three albums, Cornfield Cowboys, Memorabilia Box, and Third Phonograph Album, were collected into a box set called Anthology, first on vinyl and then on CD. Memorabilia Box featured live medleys of Harry Nillson's "The Rainmaker" with their own "Dawson", Mickey Newbury's "An American Trilogy" (Battle Hymn of the Republic/Dixie/All My Trials), and Neil Diamond's "Solaimon/Brother Love".
Their material became more varied and introduced songs such as "Dazed and Confused", the Jimmy Page solo-guitar piece "White Summer", the Velvet Underground's "I'm Waiting for the Man", and extended medleys with re-worked versions of "I'm a Man" and "Smokestack Lightning". Despite this change in direction, Mickie Most, best known for producing hits for Herman's Hermits and Donovan, was brought in by EMI as the Yardbirds' new record producer. Most was not current with new music trends and although Page had worked earlier for Most as a session guitarist, he was reportedly displeased with Most taking on the production duties.Although another biographer seems to indicate that Page welcomed Most's participation.
Live from Mountain Stage was the first posthumous album release by Bronx-born musician Laura Nyro and her third officially released live album. The short ten-song live album was recorded as part of the Mountain Stage radio series in late 1990 and features a fairly generic set list that Nyro stuck to for much of her later career. The songs are a mix of songs from her later career as well as some of her more familiar songs and soul medleys. The album was released on the independent label Blue Plate to mixed reaction from fans and critics, but it paved the way for the following year's posthumous album of new material, Angel in the Dark.
Jones Hall home of the Houston Symphony. In the 20th century, Incidental music saw new heights with the development of the full orchestrated Film score. Drawing from the opera styles of composition and the rules of Richard Wagner (specifically the idea of Gesamtkunstwerk), many early soundtracks include Overtures, Intermission Music, and Medleys and Concert Suites and a repeat or use of the overture for the end credits, depending on whether the movie was showing opening or ending credits. Over the evolution of the cinema the music took on greater and greater sophistication with the inclusion of advanced instrument techniques, a multiplicity of musical genre in any given work, and multicultural structures and instrumentation as the film industry, and therefore the music composition industry, became more globalized.
He learned midi sequencing and arranging by himself in between film and television projects and he eventually started arranging musical numbers for other artists going on road-shows and concert tours. Apart from this, Dreyfus also started arranging medleys and special song numbers for GMA Supershow and That's Entertainment. This innate musical talent was further honed when he began to concentrate on his own musical compositions which resulted to the songs "The Luv Bug", "Keep On Walking", "Let's Go Retro", "Hiling", and the carrier single "Kahit Na" of the album The Luv Bug which was released by the REtroSPECT band under Alpha Records. Dreyfus is a member of FILSCAP and a member of the Judging & Screening Committee for the “Awit Awards” for the past 15 years.
"Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" is composed of several unfinished song fragments that McCartney stitched together similar to the medleys from the Beatles' album Abbey Road. The song is notable for its sound effects, including the sounds of a thunderstorm, with rain, heard between the first and second verses, the sound of clicking from a telephone dialing and then transitioning to an answering machine (both actually McCartney's voice), where the sound of McCartney's voice, with a "telephone" effect, is heard after the second verse, and the sound of chirping sea birds and wind by the seashore. Linda's voice is heard in the harmonies as well as the bridge section of the "Admiral Halsey" portion of the song. McCartney said "Uncle Albert" was based on his uncle.

He continued to record the highly successful album Liên Khúc Chinese Top Hits (2003) with Johnny Dung, Thien Kim, and Ho Ngoc Nhu, which included four medleys of the Vietnamese adaptations' famous Chinese hits.
" Hot Press gave it an above average review, however, and said, "Kweli's collaborative work has set the bar so high that his solo efforts routinely fail to meet these exalted expectations." Metacritic, XXL gave it a score of XL (the equivalent of four out of five stars) and said, "Unlike 2004’s The Beautiful Struggle, which clumsily juxtaposed grungy backpack beats with basic mainstream medleys, Eardrum is a more sonically cohesive endeavor. Having more fun with the music and ignoring his critics, Talib wants to proves about sometimes, the only one worth listening to is yourself". HipHopDX gave it four stars out of five and said, "There is still room for improvement, but this largely the album from Kweli that everyone has been waiting for.
Several artists presented "medleys", as in the case of AKB48, Masaharu Fukuyama, E-Girls, Exile, Momoiro Clover Z, Arashi and Seiko Matsuda. The traditional "Ootori" was made by veteran Saburo Kitajima, who declared that he would be participating for the 50th and last time the Kouhaku (the singer is 77 years old) and it is fair to sing "Matsuri" for being the last singer to perform before the announcement the winning team. As tradition dictates, at the end of the event, all the artists sing "Hotaru no Hikari" with the regency of Masaaki Hirao. The ball system was used for the first time in seven years, and the winning team was the Shirogumi (9 votes against 4 Akagumi), accumulating 35 wins.
A bootleg/audience recording of that show exists, but in very poor quality.Fairport Convention, Royal Festival Hall, September 24, 1969 (information at rateyourmusic.com) Gone were the covers of songs by Bob Dylan and others, replaced by electrified versions of traditional English folksongs ("Reynardine", "Matty Groves", "The Deserter", "Tam Lin"), new compositions by band members but with a "traditional" feel ("Come All Ye", "Farewell, Farewell", "Crazy Man Michael"), and the first of a long line of instrumental medleys of folk dance tunes driven by Dave Swarbrick's violin playing. Much of the traditional material had been found by Hutchings in Cecil Sharp's collection, maintained by the English Folk Dance and Song Society, although Swarbrick has elsewhere claimed credit as the source of the traditional material used.
Reese was born in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1941. He attended Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, and swam for the Mainland Buccaneers high school swim team, winning two state high school championships in the 200-yard individual medley swimming event. He then enrolled in the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he swam for coach Buddy Crone and coach Bill Harlan's Florida Gators swimming and diving teams, leading the Gators to three consecutive Southeastern Conference (SEC) team championships (1961, 1962, 1963). As the team's senior co-captain, Reese became the first Florida swimmer to win five SEC individual titles in a single season—the 200-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard and 400-yard individual medleys, the 400-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay.
Hyde left, vowing never to return to the air without a radio license in hand. His attempts to get this license lasted through 10 years and two governments, but eventually KREM made it to the air on signals 96.5 and 89.9 FM. Its DJs made use of dancehall and Belizean punta medleys in short two- to three-hour blocks, a sharp contrast to the educational half-hour programming then being favored by Radio Belize. Among the most popular DJ's playing on KREM in those days were J.C. Arzu and Dion Gentle aka "Presi-D" or the "President", Kenny Morgan, and on Saturdays Evan "Mose" Hyde and partner Marshall Nunez, dubbed the "M&M; Attack". In early 1991, KREM sponsored an entertainment awards show featuring the best performers of that day, dubbed "KREMEXCEL".
Tracy Smith at Sports Reference 1970 is the year that Doug Smith felt was a giant step in the development of the meet into more of a "Southern California" event. Santa Ana Coach Earl Engman, who was the Meet Director of the CIF-Southern Section championship affairs, entered his championship squad from Orange County, enhancing the event with the members of his top program from the greater San Gabriel Valley. The invitational has since gone on to produce 32 U.S. high school records and 179 U.S. Olympians up to and including the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials. In 2002, the meet expanded from a single-day competition to a two-day affair as the newly formed Friday portion consisted of additional relays (sprint medleys, shuttle hurdles, 4x800, etc.) not common at most meets.
The game saw a brief revival in an episode broadcast in January 2016, with Cryer and Rob Brydon singing censored medleys, with Cryer's medley incorporating "It's Not Unusual", "The Girl from Ipanema" and "I've Got You Under My Skin" ("I've got you under my [buzz], I've got you deep in the [buzz] of me, so deep in my [buzz] that you're really a [buzz-buzz-buzz]..."), while Brydon's medley included "I'm Into Something Good", "Feed the Birds" ("[buzz] the birds, tuppence a [buzz]...") and "We Will Rock You". The game was left in abeyance after Barry Cryer and his partner played the supreme example, which would never be bettered. This was a rendition of "Grandfather's Clock". It only required one buzz and the innuendo lasted for the whole of the rest of the song.
Gibbons made occasional return trips to the United States but settled permanently in England, though he did spend a couple of years (1930–1931) in Hollywood, where he worked as a staff composer for MGM films. He took exclusive leadership of the Savoy Hotel Orpheans, which recorded hundreds of popular songs (many of which were sung by Anne Lenner) between June 1932 and his death in 1954, all featuring Gibbons on piano. Starting in about 1931, he also recorded many sophisticated records featuring a piano-led small group playing pop tunes and medleys under the name of Carroll Gibbons and his Boy Friends, of which some contained tracks by singer Hildegarde. As a composer, Gibbons's most popular songs included "A Garden in the Rain" (1928) and "On The Air" (1932).
On July 23, 2002, Tsai signed a recording deal with Sony Music Taiwan, and she released a series of studio albums Magic (2003), Castle (2004), and J-Game (2005). The three albums achieved great commercial success, they have sold more than 360,000, 300,000, and 260,000 copies in Taiwan respectively, and each became the best-selling album by a female artist of the year in the region. On February 16, 2006, Tsai signed a deal with Capital Music Taiwan, then Sony released a greatest hits album titled J-Top (2006). On September 19, 2007, Sony released another greatest hits album right before Tsai releasing her ninth studio album Agent J (2007), and the compilation includes Tsai's 40 songs and 22 music videos previously released by Sony, and 2 newly remixed medleys.
After graduating with a bachelors degree from Northwestern College (now University of Northwestern – St. Paul), Cameron Floria was asked to lead music for a chapter of Youth for Christ in Lansing, Michigan, Floria's hometown. Then, in the autumn of 1962, he took a paid staff position as music director at Youth for Christ's chapter in Portland, Oregon. During his work in Portland, Floria organized a five-week tour for the choir with a final stop at the choral competition at the Winona Lake Bible Conference in the summer of 1963. The following autumn, he produced an album with the choir entitled Sing A Happy Song credited to, "Cam Floria and the Continentals" with 14 medleys of songs commonly sang at Youth for Christ chapter meetings nationally, which Word Records agreed to distribute.
The concert that appears in Every Road Leads Back to You was performed at the Key Club on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, California, on September 10, 2001 (one day before terrorist attacks in New York City). During the concert Newton and her band performed 21 song with five included in two medleys. Five songs originated from her Juice album ("Shot Full of Love", "Ride 'em Cowboy", "The Sweetest Thing (I've Ever Known)", "Angel of the Morning", and "Queen of Hearts") while three were taken from Quiet Lies ("Love's Been a Little Hard On Me", "Break It To Me Gently" and "Love Sail Away"). From the Old Flame album came four songs ("This Old Flame", "You Make Me Want To Make You Mine", "Cheap Love", and "Hurt").
According to Kerli, the first track of the album, "Can't Control the Kids", is about "the power that kids these days have because of technology and internet" and that "everyone with a laptop can make something amazing and share it with the rest of the world. Everyone can have a voice" and that it was that "kind of rebellious and badass energy [she] was trying to channel." The following song, "The Lucky Ones", was written after a friend's cancer scarce after which she said they had been "given a second chance". Both of these tracks are electronic dance medleys produced by Svante Halldin and Jakob Hazell (SeventyEight), the following track, also produced by SeventyEight, is the piano-driven ballad "Love Me or Leave Me", which Kerli released as the iTunes Store's "countdown single" on March 5.
Brett Domino is the alter-ego of musician and comedian Rob J Madin. As Brett Domino, he is a YouTube musician and internet celebrity from Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire, England, UK. He is best known for his YouTube videos, in which he plays covers, medleys and original songs on various musical instruments, most notably the keytar and Stylophone. His band The Brett Domino Trio currently consists of only two members, Domino and "Steven Peavis" (Ste Anderson), and during comic relief 2017, Russell Brand became an honorable member for the night making it an actual trio, having only actually been a three-piece for around a year. "Mitch Hutchinson" (Michael Denny) left the band in 2009 to become a forklift truck driver; he later returned to celebrate the band's fifth anniversary and appear on the finale of Brett Domino's Weekly YouTube Thing.
Douglas has since had a successful career in music, not just by interpreting Sinatra's repertoire but as a prominent jazz singer in his own right, singing both standards and evergreens as well as original material, releasing a series of albums under his own name and touring in both Europe and the United States. Stars on Frankie was the final Stars on 45 project to be produced by Jaap Eggermont, the creator of the original concept. A fifth studio album called The Club Hits using both the Stars on 45 name, the original logo on the album cover as well as a re-recording of Eggermont and Duiser's "Stars On 45 Theme" together with medleys of dance hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s was recorded in 1997 and released by EMI's sublabel Music Club International in Continental Europe to moderate commercial success.
He also studied with Dennis Schneider. Hickman taught at the University of Illinois from 1974 to 1982 and since has been teaching at Arizona State University where he is a Regents' Professor of Music. He has been a member of the Saint Louis Brass Quintet (11 yrs.), Wichita Brass Quintet (2 yrs.), Illinois Brass Quintet (8 yrs.), Baroque Consort, Summit Brass, and the Illinois Contemporary Chamber Players. Hickman has released 15 solo albums encompassing a wide variety of repertoire - from cornet solos by Clarke, Levy, and others, to modern concerti by Planel, Baker, and Plog; from Baroque works of Bach, Telemann, and Hertel, to recital pieces by Chance, Dello Joio, and Méndez; from contemporary works to fun Christmas medleys. He is credited with presenting the first modern-day performance on keyed trumpet, performing the second and third movements of Joseph Haydn's Concerto for Trumpet in 1972.
Banks performing with Genesis in 2007 Banks's elaborate arrangements and keyboard solos – such as the piano introduction to "Firth of Fifth" and the instrumental sections of "The Cinema Show", "Watcher of the Skies", and "Supper's Ready" – helped to establish Genesis's sound. In addition to playing keyboards, Banks contributed (along with Anthony Phillips, Steve Hackett and Rutherford) to Genesis's 12-string acoustic passages in songs such as "The Musical Box", "Entangled", "The Cinema Show", and the beginning part of "Supper's Ready". Banks also was an occasional back-up vocalist and sang co-lead vocals on "Shepherd", an unreleased track from 1970 which finally surfaced on the Genesis Archive 1967–75 boxed set. Notable Banks-penned Genesis songs (post Peter Gabriel) include "Mad Man Moon", "One for the Vine" and the anthemic ballad "Afterglow", which remained a popular coda to the Banks-driven medleys that the group played during live shows for years.
The scholar Wu Pei-yi writes that "what distinguishes the book from other writings on cities is its detailed description of everyday life as it was lived in the streets and marketplaces.... Food and drink seem to have been everyone's preoccupation." Wu p. 57 Meng delights in street entertainments which serious writers disdained, even mentioning the performers by name: :Wildman Zhao would eat and drink while hung upside down.... Hua Zhuoer would sing medleys; Big Head Wen and Little Cao would play the lute; Dang Qian would perform with wind instruments.... Zou Yi and Tian Di would impersonate rustic visitors to the capital.... Yin Chang would regale his listeners with stories from the history of the Five Dynasties; Liu Baiqiin would have his birds and beasts demonstrate tricks; Yang Wenxiu would play the drum and the flute....Wu, p. 53 Romanization changed to pinyin.
During the performance, she performed the singles "Too Little Too Late" and "How to Touch a Girl", as well as two of JoJo's personal favorites, "This Time" and "The Way You Do Me", which had both been released as promotional singles before the album's release. Though there has not been an official tour, she has been performing with a live band as part of the Six Flags Starburst Thursday Night Concert series during the summer of 2007. During some of these shows she has included medleys of her favorite popular songs from Beyoncé ("Déjà Vu"), Kelly Clarkson ("Since U Been Gone"), SWV, Gnarls Barkley, Jackson 5, Justin Timberlake ("My Love"), Maroon 5 ("Makes Me Wonder"), Usher, Carlos Santana, Jill Scott, Michael Jackson, George Benson, Musiq Soulchild, and Amy Winehouse ("Rehab", replacing the title with "Boston"). In November 2007, JoJo she toured in Brasil at the Live Pop Rock Brasil.
Since the documentary was in development at the time Elvis Presley died in August 1977, Drake-Chenault was able to quickly produce and distribute material from the documentary as "Elvis: A Three Hour Special". Among other things, Theroux had Drake-Chenault chief engineer Mark Ford assemble two kinds of annual montages: one of each chart-topping hit of a given year (in sequence) and the other of other key songs there was no time to play in full. Those #1 hit montages were reprised for the climactic final hour of the show—edited together back to back to create a fast-moving 45-minute medley of every chart-topping hit from 1955 to the fall of 1977. The riveting nature of Theroux's much-bootlegged ending later inspired a series of hits medleys by many artists including Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Stars on 45, and Jive Bunny & the Mixmasters.
Their music can be classified as speed metal and power metal with a very high level of musical virtuosity, especially on the guitarists' (initially She-Ja for the first four albums, then Syu from Animetal Marathon V to the present) and bassist Masaki's parts. Masaki, in particular from Animetal Marathon IV onward, has shown an intensely active and aggressive approach to his instrument with fluid soloing, manic slapping and popping, energetic fills, and crashing chords for punctuation. The albums are structured as nearly seamless barrages of short songs woven into well-structured medleys that sound as though the band simply enters the studio and lays down virtually the entire album from start to finish in one go, with occasional overdubs and breaks in the action here and there. Part of the band's nostalgic factor is their incorporation of popular rock-metal instrumentals into some of the songs.
However as Jive Bunny was credited on a Children In Need charity single ("It Takes Two, Baby", also featuring Liz Kershaw, Bruno Brookes and Londonbeat) that charted a couple of weeks before "Let's Party", it could be say that this honour only applies to the Mastermixers. As of 2020, the Official Charts Company website does not include "It Takes Two, Baby" in its list of Jive Bunny hits, even though the cartoon rabbit is clearly visible on the single cover used on the site and even though many British Hit Singles books of the early 2000s added the record to their discography. The original European medleys featured the original recordings by the original artists. Legalities prevented certain of the original recordings to be reused in America, so the American Jive Bunny releases substituted later re-recordings of the same tunes by Bill Haley, Del Shannon and others.
The result was the "Stars on Frankie" single and album, released under the 'Stars on 45' moniker. While the single failed to chart internationally it became another Top 20 hit in the Netherlands, peaking at #16 and the following album was also a minor commercial success, reaching the lower regions of the Dutch albums chart and it was subsequently also released in the rest of Continental Europe, Scandinavia and Japan. Stars on Frankie became the final original Stars on 45 project to be produced by Jaap Eggermont. A single and an album titled Stars on 45 - The Club Hits was some ten years later released on the Music Club International label, featuring both re-recordings of Eggermont and musical arranger Martin Duiser's original "Stars on 45" themes together with newly recorded hits medleys as well as using the band logo on the album covers.
Paul McCartney, like Dunn, played bass melodically, without straying from the rhythm or the groove. In 1970, Lennon's wish was granted, in a sense, when Booker T. and the M.G.'s recorded McLemore Avenue (named for the street where Stax Records was located), on which they performed instrumental cover versions of thirteen of the songs on Abbey Road, condensing twelve of them into three medleys. The album's front cover is a parody of the front cover of Abbey Road; the back cover, with the blurred image of a mini-skirted woman at the edge of the photo, also mirrors that of Abbey Road. In 1970 Booker T. & the M.G.'s sat in with Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) for a jam, and they were the opening act for that band's January 31 performance at the Oakland Coliseum, which was recorded for the CCR album The Concert.
Bianwen has had a long lasting and wide- ranging impact on the subsequent development of Chinese literature. The evolution of prosimetric literature in the Song, Yuan, and Ming periods has ties to the bianwen; vernacular stories in China would not have been as well understood without reference to bianwen; and later popular literature inherited its prosimetric from and vivid quality of the stories from bianwen as well. Both fiction and drama after the Tang have to some degree been influenced by bianwen. To be more specific, included but not limited in its sphere of influence are the yuequ (樂曲 musicals), the zhugongdiao (諸宮調 all keys and modes, or medleys), the cihua (詞話 prosimetric stories), the guci (鼓詞 drum lyrics), the tanci (彈詞 strum lyrics), the muyushu (木魚書 wooden fish books), zaju (雜劇 miscellaneous drama), and chuanqi ().
Jon Bream commented in the Star Tribune that Miguel's presentation in Minneapolis was "one of the most ambitious concert spectacles ever presented at the theater" and that the singer had a "captivating presence", but added that Miguel's music was "not particularly distinctive". He likened Miguel's uptempo songs to Earth, Wind & Fire albeit without the "rhythmic and jazzy sophistication", considered his ballads to be "conservative pop, bathed in synthesized strings with Chicago-like horn filigree," and felt let down by Miguel's choice to perform his boleros in medleys. On 24 October 2000, WEA released the Vivo live album and video from Miguel's concerts in Monterrey. AllMusic editor Perry Seibert gave the video album two-out-of-five stars and criticized its lack of subtitles, closed captions, and supplemental materials, but stated that it should not "dissuade fans of Latino music from checking out this entertaining DVD from Warner Bros".
All songs that were performed were arranged by Aubrey Suwito and Mohd Yazid Zakaria and were divided into several medleys and single performances interspersed between several sketches and special acts. Though many of the songs on the setlist were taken from her previous solo traditional albums – Cindai (1997), Sahmura (2000), Sanggar Mustika (2002) and Lentera Timur (2008) as well as her duet traditional album, Seri Balas (1999) – there were also songs that had been made famous by P. Ramlee as well as classical Malay folksongs. One of the main goals of the concert was to promote and elevate the status of Malaysian cultural arts, particularly Malay songs, in the eyes of the younger generation and outsiders who are not familiar with the Malay culture. Several days before the concert, Siti was reported to have contracted a cough and sore throat, which continued to plague her until the day of the concert.
In 2005, "Nel blu dipinto di blu" was one of fourteen songs chosen by Eurovision fans and an EBU reference group to participate in the Congratulations anniversary competition. It was the only Italian entry featured and the only song from the 1950s represented, as well as one of three participating songs that hadn't actually won in its year (the others being "Congratulations" by Cliff Richard and "Eres tú" by Mocedades). Italy didn't broadcast the event (it likewise hadn't broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest since their last participation in 1997 and wouldn't again until 2011), but were represented by both "Nel blu dipinto di blu" and references to their Eurovision entries in both clip montages and one live performance (Belgium's Sandra Kim, who won the contest in 1986, performed a brief rendition of Gigliola Cinquetti's 1964 winner "Non ho l'eta" during one of the medleys). "Nel blu dipinto di blu" appeared sixth in the running order, following "Ein bißchen Frieden" by Nicole and preceding "Waterloo" by ABBA.
91, No. 45: "The Spinners recently reteamed with producer Thorn Bell to do two songs for his upcoming film score to The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh. The group sings 'Do It Cause No One Does It Better,' a mid-tempo tune which may be a single, and...." In 1979, Motown released a compilation album on both sides of the Atlantic. From the Vaults, (US Natural Resources label NR 4014 and in the UK on Tamla Motown STMR 9001), included the song "What More Could a Boy Ask For" (Fuqua & Bristol), which was recorded circa 1965. The group did have a brief resurgence at the dawning of the new decade, scoring two big hits in 1980 with Michael Zager medleys of "Working My Way Back to You"/"Forgive Me, Girl" (number two in March–April, number one UK) and "Cupid"/"I've Loved You for a Long Time" (number four in July–August, number four UK).
Morricone wrote his first compositions when he was six years old and he was encouraged to develop his natural talents. In 1946, he composed "Il Mattino" ("The Morning") for voice and piano on a text by Fukuko, first in a group of seven "youth" Lieder. In the following years, he continued to write music for the theatre as well as classical music for voice and piano, such as "Imitazione", based on a text by Italian poet Giacomo Leopardi, "Intimità", based on a text by Olinto Dini, "Distacco I" and "Distacco II" with words by R. Gnoli, "Oboe Sommerso" for baritone and five instruments with words by poet Salvatore Quasimodo, and "Verrà la Morte", for alto and piano, based on a text by novelist Cesare Pavese. In 1953, Morricone was asked by Gorni Kramer and Lelio Luttazzi to write an arrangement for some medleys in an American style for a series of evening radio shows.
The invocation changes from "the one who brings" the Smithfield muses to the ears of kings to "The Mighty Mother, and her Son who brings," thus immediately making Cibber the fatherless son of a goddess, and the poem addresses "[...] how the Goddess bade Britannia sleep,/ And pour'd her Spirit o'er the land and deep" (I 7–8). From the invocation, the poem moves to an expanded description of the Cave of Poverty and Poetry, near Bedlam. Cibber is the co-master of the cave, "Where o'er the gates [of Bedlam], by his fam'd father's hand/ Great Cibber's brazen, brainless brothers stand" (I 31–32) (referring to statues constructed by Caius Cibber, Colley Cibber's father), and the cave is now the source of "Journals, Medleys, Merc'ries, Magazines" (I 42). These changes introduce the Biblical and apocalyptical themes that Book IV, in particular, will explore, as Dulness's spirit parodies the Holy Spirit dwelling upon the face of the waters in the Book of Genesis.
They're shot and performed with verve, and they put to shame those medleys contestants often perform on the Wednesday edition of American Idol", but again observed: "Whether it will work as a satirical dramedy about the cutthroat social environment of high school is another matter." Of the principal cast, Ryan said: "Casting Matthew Morrison as Will Schuester [...] was a wise move; the actor not only has a sweet voice but a hangdog hopefulness that gives a needed anchor to the show's more satirical elements. Cory Monteith gives quarterback Finn Hudson a jock-ish authority mixed with an appealingly square naivete, and Lea Michele not only has an amazing voice but manages to make her character, spoiled diva Rachel Berry, more than a humorless stereotype." She was critical, however, of Gilsig as Terri, calling her "the worst thing about Glee" and opining: "As written by Murphy and played by Gilsig, the character is screechy, unfunny and deeply unpleasant.
At the 1981 Maccabiah Games, Kochavy won a silver medal and two bronze medals. When he competed in the Olympics, he was 5-7.5 (172 cm) tall and weighed 148 lbs (67 kg). Kochavy competed for Israel at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, in swimming at the age of 21. Swimming in the Men's 400 metre Individual Medley he came in 16th with times of 4:35.70 in Round One and 4:40.00 in the B Final, competing in the Men's 200 metre Butterfly he came in 22nd with a time of 2:04.08, and swimming in the Men's 200 metre Individual Medley he came in 27th with a time of 2:11.81. At the 1985 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, swimming for University of Denver, Kochavy won gold medals in both the 200 (in 1:54.04) and 400 yard (in 4:02.63) Individual Medleys and the 200 yard Butterfly, and was the NAIA High Point Award Winner.
Her third album Funky Fingers, consisting of two side-long medleys of soul standards, was released in December 1983. In 1985, she signed with Jive Records and teamed up with multiple producer teams for the album, including American songwriter, Monte Moir, a musician and songwriter, best known as a member of The Time. The following year Wilson released several singles; "I'll Be Your Friend" (a U.S. Top 40 R&B; hit), the theme song from the Michael Douglas movie The Jewel of the Nile (the sequel to the movie Romancing The Stone), and "Nice Girls Don't Last" ("Love Can't Wait" in the U.S.). In 1986, she contributed to the charity album titled The Anti-Heroin Project – Live-In World, being one of many to sing on the title track as well as on the track called "Waiting in the Dark" and song called "Something Better" with Kim Wilde and Darryl Pandy. A dance cover of Jerry Butler's "Only the Strong Survive" in 1987, produced by Stock Aitken Waterman.
In his review of the CD release of the album music critic Gregory McIntosh stated: :Every Road Leads Back to You marks another yet another collection wrapped around the '80s hits of Juice Newton, but these versions are re-recorded and a few of her biggest hits are presented here as sections of a pair of medleys instead of being self-contained. This makes Every Road Leads Back to You an interesting study for those who already have the original hit recordings, but not a necessity since the performances lack any sort of convincing deviation from the originals nor are they quite as spirited. Many other collections have been offered up of higher quality, most notably Juice Newton's Greatest Hits (And More) issued by Capitol, which has been the benchmark of Newton anthologies for several years running. However the reviewer for DVDnet was more positive about the album and DVD by stating: :Juice Newton – Every Road Leads Back To You is a concert performance by a very talented artist in her prime.
Yankovic has also ventured into this practice; all but two of his albums feature medleys of either classic rock or then-current hit songs done as fast polkas. Ray Stevens has had hits of Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" done in the style of clucking chickens, and a honky-tonk or bluegrass version of Michael Jackson's "Bad". Musical parody in recent years has included the 2005 musical Altar Boyz, which parodies both Christian rock and the "boy band" style of pop,"About the show", Altar Boyz, accessed 21 February 2012 the Christian parody band Apologetix, who have targeted popular music from the 1950s to the present, and the Capitol Steps, a group of current and former U.S. Congress staff members based in Washington, DC who focus on politics and other public figures. Mac Sabbath, a tribute band who perform Black Sabbath songs with rewritten lyrics satirizing the fast food industry in McDonald's-themed costumes and stage theatrics, went viral in late 2014, bringing the band notable press coverage and enabling them to tour internationally.
This disc was issued both on Arto and as a special "Earl Fuller Record" with Fuller's picture on the label; the latter is one of the rarest of all early jazz records.Brian Rust, "Jazz Records 1897-1942, Volume 1: Irving Aaronson to Abe Lyman," Arlington House Publishers, New Rochelle, NY 1978 Jazology was one of 15 pieces compiled in Earl Fuller's Collection of Classic Jazz, published by a cooperative which Fuller headed called the American Musicians Syndicate with offices located at 1604 Broadway. The collection was available both as a piano folio and as a set of orchestral parts arranged by Harry L. Alford, whom Fuller brought out from Chicago to make the arrangements; among other pieces in the collection were early works composed by future bandleaders Lou Gold and Irving Aaronson. The folios were issued in conjunction with three QRS piano roll medleys consisting of nine pieces from the set.Jacobs' Band Monthly, Volume 4, September 1919 With the final passage of the Volstead Act (prohibiting the production, sale, and transport of "intoxicating liquors") in October 1919, rather than to continue as a restaurant without a liquor license, Rector's opted to close its doors.
Michelle Robyn Pearson (born 22 April 1962) is an Australian former medley and freestyle swimmer of the 1980s, who won a bronze medal in the 200-metre individual medley at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Her versatility saw her qualify for four finals. Pearson made her international debut at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Canada, where she finalled in both the 200-metre and 400-metre individual medleys, finishing seventh and fifth respectively. She made her Olympic debut at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, where she was eliminated in the heats of the 100-metre freestyle. She was a part of the 4×100-metre freestyle relay team along with Lisa Curry, Rosemary Brown and Karen van de Graaf, which placed fifth in the final. In 1981, Pearson became one of the first athletes in Australia to attend the newly established Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Pearson attend the AIS until 1986 and was named AIS Athlete of the Year in 1985. At the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Pearson collected her first international medals, winning silver and bronze in the 400-metre and 200-metre individual medley respectively.
Pentatonix (abbreviated PTX) is an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas, consisting of vocalists Scott Hoying (baritone), Mitch Grassi (tenor), Kirstin Maldonado (mezzo-soprano), Kevin Olusola (vocal percussion), and Matt Sallee (bass). Characterized by their pop-style arrangements with vocal harmonies, basslines, riffing, percussion, and beatboxing, they produce cover versions of modern pop works or Christmas songs, sometimes in the form of medleys, along with original material. Pentatonix formed in 2011 and subsequently won the third season of NBC's The Sing-Off, receiving $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music. When Sony's Epic Records dropped the group after The Sing-Off, the group formed its YouTube channel, distributing its music through Madison Gate Records, a label owned by Sony Pictures. Their YouTube channel currently has over 18 million subscribers and 4 billion views. The group's video tribute to Daft Punk had received over 334 million views as of 27th August 2020. Their debut EP PTX, Volume 1 was released in 2012, followed by their holiday release PTXmas the same year, with Pentatonix's third release, PTX, Vol. II, debuting at number 1 on Billboards Independent Albums chart and number 10 on the Billboard 200 in 2013.
In 1972, Neall had her most successful Australian Championships, winning the 200-metre butterfly and the 400-metre individual medley in times of 2 m 23.2 s and 5 m 9.8 s respectively and coming second in the 200-metre individual medley. She was selected for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, and travelled to the team training camp in Brisbane. She sealed her place in the 200-metre butterfly by winning a trial race during the camp, and was entered in both the individual medleys. Neall missed the final in the 200-metre individual medley, her first event, after swimming a personal best of 2 m 29.6 s in coming third in her heat. She placed 14th overall, more than 2.5 s outside the qualifying limit. Neall was considered an outsider in her pet event, the 400-metre individual medley, with Americans Jennifer Bartz, Lyn Vidali and Mary Montgomery, and Canadian Leslie Cliff fancied to take the gold medal. Neall had a mediocre heat swim; although she won it in a time of 5 m 11.89 s, subsequent heats were faster and she was only sixth fastest. Evelyn Stolze of East Germany was the quickest qualifier in an Olympic record 5 s 6.96 s and Neall was more than three seconds slower than the third fastest qualifier.
