Bismarck feared coalitions of the other European powers against the newly created German Empire of 1871 ("nightmare of coalitions" or French "cauchemar des coalitions") with its vulnerable geographical position in the middle of Europe. The unification of Germany had been achieved in a war against France in 1870/71.
In the spring of 2000 Diktat was sent to represent Godolphin in Japan. On 14 May he finished sixth to Stinger in the Keio Hai Spring Cup at Tokyo Racecourse with Grass Wonder in ninth. On 4 June he was ridden by Daragh O'Donohoe when he contested the Yasuda Kinen over 1600 metres at the same track. He produced what was arguably his best performance as he proved too good for the sixteen Japanese runners but was beaten a length into second place by the Hong Kong champion Fairy King Prawn.

She normally enters the smoking room on company-related matters such as to inform the occupants of Sharon's latest diktat. She takes a very dim view of some of the other characters' slacking, herself being very diligent and obedient. However, she is not really interested in climbing the career ladder, her stated goal being, '...to find a nice man, and settle down'. Little is mentioned of her love life; in episode six, she says that she has a date and is reluctant to go out into the driving rain and fetch Sharon's lunch in case it messes up her new hairdo.
He argued against what he thought to be a false dichotomy between "to sign" or "not to sign", and considered written negotiations (the Allies had refused to negotiate face to face) an alternative to make the onerous peace less unfair and dishonouring to Germany. After it became obvious that the Allies were not willing to make any changes (save in very minor matters) to the original Treaty draft and that Germany was likely to sign it nonetheless, he resigned his post on 20 June 1919 together with Scheidemann and Otto Landsberg, protesting the signature of what he thought of as a Diktat.
The period opened by the coup is called the Terra Dictatorship. Particularly after 1933, Terra was tellingly closer politically to his nominal National Party (Uruguay) opponent Dr. Luis Alberto de Herrera than he was to many of his Colorado Party (Uruguay) colleagues.:es:Luis Alberto de Herrera#Participación en el golpe de Estado de Gabriel Terra Terra predominantly ruled harshly and by diktat, but continued most of the socialist reforms begun by his predecessor. During 1934 and 1935 there were many moments of political tension, with attempts at rebellion that failed, such as the Revolutionary Putsch of 1935.
The legend of the > "stab in the back" and the wish to revise the "Versailles diktat", and the > belief in an international threat aimed at the elimination of the German > nation persisted at the heart of German politics. Even a man of peace such > as [Gustav] Stresemann publicly rejected German guilt. One of Ebert's first tasks as president was to deal with the Treaty of Versailles. When the treaty's terms became public on 7 May 1919, it was cursed by Germans of all political shades as an onerous "Diktat", particularly because Germany had essentially been handed the treaty and told to sign without any negotiations. Ebert himself denounced the treaty as "unrealizable and unbearable."William Shirer, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (Touchstone Edition) (New York: Simon & Schuster, 1990) However, Ebert was well aware of the possibility that Germany would not be in a position to reject the treaty.
The film plot synthesises two different stories set in a post-Operation Blue Star Punjab in the '80s. Fear and paranoia pervade the atmosphere as the general public is caught between excesses of both Khalistani militants and the Indian government forces fighting them. The first story is about a militant diktat in Punjab that prohibited family-owned dogs from barking, and the other is about two Hindu friends travelling to Amritsar in a nearly empty train. The film merges the two plots into one by making one of the friends travelling in the train recount the first story.
The inhabitants are proud of their noble origins certified in the Maramureș "Diplomas", of their contribution to the development of nation building. Their opposition to denationalization during the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and the Vienna Diktat, and, with less success, during the years of the totalitarian regime have to be remembered as well. They are also proud for having contributed to the formation of the national language, with the oldest codex of written language found in a monastery from the region. Mihai, the second son of a Romanian family, was baptized after his father known as "Mihaiu Florii Vilii" in village because there was another unrelated family also called Olos.
The younger daughters, Chris and Button, encourage the boys of Donkin's house to defy the headmaster's latest and furiously-resented diktat: heedless of Marbledown's long tradition of rowing, Ovington has cancelled the school's participation in the local regatta, and placed the town and the river out of bounds for the duration of the regatta. The boys of Donkin's house openly defy Ovington and go into town en masse. Faced with this comprehensive defiance of the headmaster, Donkin feels obliged to offer his resignation, which Ovington instantly accepts. Sir Berkeley Nightingale, uncle of one of Donkin's senior boys, uses his influence to have Ovington offered a suffragan bishopric.
Piccolo is a bay horse with a white stripe and three white coronet marks bred by the 18th Earl of Derby's Stanley Estate. He was one of the first crop of foals sired by Warning, the top-rated European racehorse of 1988 who stood as a breeding stallion in Europe before being exported to Japan. The best of his other progeny included Diktat (Prix Maurice de Gheest, Haydock Sprint Cup), Charnwood Forest (Queen Anne Stakes) and Annus Mirabilis (Dubai Duty Free). Warning was a male-line descendant of the Godolphin Arabian, unlike more than 95% of modern thoroughbreds, who trace their ancestry to the Darley Arabian.
This line has produced outstanding sprinters such as Diktat (Haydock Sprint Cup), Avonbridge and Dream Ahead. The Derby has not been won by a sire line descendant of the Godolphin Arabian since Santa Claus in 1964 and is nowadays dominated by descendants of the Darley Arabian. The major Thoroughbred sire Eclipse traces in his sire line to the Darley Arabian, but his dam was a daughter of Regulus and thus also traces to the Godolphin Arabian. This pattern continues to be seen today, with the Godolphin Arabian more heavily represented in dam lines and in the "middle" of pedigrees (as opposed to direct sire lines).
Diktat (foaled 25 February 1995) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He spent most of his racing career at distances of around seven furlongs but recorded his two biggest wins when dropped to sprint distances. Unplaced on his only start as a two-year-old in 1997 he showed improved form in 1998, winning his first three races including the Jersey Stakes but missed the second half of the season. He returned as a four-year-old to win four major races from five starts: his victories came in the Shergar Cup Seven Stakes, Criterion Stakes, Prix Maurice de Gheest and the Haydock Sprint Cup.
On his three-year-old debut, Diktat started 6/4 favourite against sixteen opponents in a seven furlong maiden at Newmarket Racecourse on 14 April. Ridden by Darryll Holland he took the lead inside the final furlong and drew away to win by four lengths from the John Gosden- trained Mubrik. In May he started 5/4 favourite for a minor races over the same distance at Leicester and won "comfortably" by one and a half lengths from Rami. On 17 June the colt was stepped up in class for the Group Three Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot in which he was gain partnered by Holland.
After the race Dettori commented "It was really a question of not losing too much ground early on so I could have a shot at the finish, but I must admit I was worried at the furlong marker when I was still three lengths behind Bertolini". On his final start of the year Diktat was sent to France again and started odds-on favourite for the Prix de la Forêt over 1400 metres at Longchamp Racecourse on 17 October. After turning into the straight in tenth place he made steady progress but finished fifth in a blanket finish behind Field of Hope. It was Diktat's first defeat in over fourteen months.
At the end of his racing career Diktat was retired to become a breeding stallion at his owner's Dalham Hall Stud. He was later relocated to France i 2007 and Japan in 2008 before moving to the Dehesa de Milagro in Spain in 2010. The best of his offspring was Dream Ahead who won five Group One races and emulated his sire by winning the Haydock Sprint Cup in 2011. His other good winners included Rajeem, Formal Decree (Al Rashidiya, Knickerbocker Handicap), Definightly (Prix de Seine-et-Oise, Sapphire Stakes), Short Skirt (Musidora Stakes, St Simon Stakes), First City (Cape Verdi), Skins Game (Prix Edmond Blanc) and First Selection (Solario Stakes).
Another effect that limited the effect of the German diktat was that there were few Slovak People's Party supporters qualified for high office, partly because of the reliance of the Czechoslovak state on Czech bureaucrats. Therefore, the government relied heavily on Slovaks who did not support the party (four-fifths of the Foreign Affairs officials who had reported directly to Ďurčanský had held similar positions in the Czechoslovak government and were almost certainly not Slovak People's Party supporters). Leading officials such as Karol Klinovsk, head of the Presidium of the Slovak Foreign Ministry since 1939, were left undisturbed for lack of a qualified replacement.
Fly to the Stars remained in training as a six-year-old but failed to win or place in three races. He began his season by running for the second time in the Dubai Duty Free and set the pace before finishing seventh to his stablemate Rhythm Band. On his European seasonal debut he contested the Group Three Diomed Stakes at Epsom Racecourse but after losing a shoe early in the race he finished last of the five runners behind Trans Island. On his final appearance he acted as a pacemaker for Diktat in the Prix du Moulin and led for most of the way before finishing fourth of the eight runners behind Indian Lodge.
She started a 25/1 outsider and finished unplaced behind Diktat. She then finished fifth under a weight of 124 pounds in the Ayr Gold Cup before finishing second to Gaelic Storm in the Bentinck Stakes at Newmarket in October. On her final start of the season the filly started second favourite behind Gaelic Storm in the Listed Wentworth Stakes on soft ground at Doncaster on 6 November with the other 18 runners including Superior Premium (Stewards' Cup) and Muqtarib (Richmond Stakes). She was among the leaders from the start and stayed on in the closing stages to take the lead on the line and win by a short head from Two Clubs.
The Editto bulgaro (English: "Bulgarian Edict"), also referred to as "the Bulgarian Diktat" or "the Bulgarian Ukase" in Italian newspapers,Silverio Novelli, Parole bulgare tra Berlusconi e Biagi, PEM-Piazza Elettronica Magazine, Istituto dell'Enciclopedia italiana Treccani was a statement of Silvio Berlusconi, at the time Prime Minister of Italy, about the behavior of some journalists and television stars in the Italian media system, which was pronounced during a press conference with Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, at the time Prime Minister of Bulgaria, on 18 April 2002. It was soon followed by the removal from the air of the people Berlusconi had referred to: journalists Enzo Biagi and Michele Santoro, and comedian Daniele Luttazzi.
On her final appearance in Europe, Wannabe Grand contested the Haydock Sprint Cup on 4 September and finished seventh of the sixteen runners behind the four-year-old colt Diktat. For her last two races, the filly was sent to race in North America and was moved up in distance. In the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes over nine furlongs at Keeneland Racecourse on 9 October she was ridden by Robby Albarado and stayed on well in the closing stages to finish third behind Perfect Sting. Eddie Delahoussaye took over the ride in the Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood Park Racetrack on 22 November, when the filly finished fifth of the nine runners behind Happyandunoit.
Yoav Gelber (2006), p. 120 Syria and Lebanon declared themselves ready to intervene immediately, but King Abdullah refused to let the Arab Legion forces intervene immediately in favour of the Palestinians, a move which irritated the Secretary-General of the League, who declared that Abdallah only cedes to the British diktat. Nonetheless, Abdullah declared himself ready to send the Legion to assist the Palestinian cause after 15 May. In response, Syria insisted that the Egyptian army also take part, and, in spite of the opposition of Egypt's prime minister, King Farouk responded favourably to the Syrian request, but due to his aim of curbing the Jordanians' hegemonic goals rather than his desire to help the Palestinians.
This article became known as the War Guilt clause as the majority of Germans felt humiliated and resentful. Overall the Germans felt they had been unjustly dealt with by what they called the "diktat of Versailles". German historian Hagen Schulze said the Treaty placed Germany "under legal sanctions, deprived of military power, economically ruined, and politically humiliated." Belgian historian Laurence Van Ypersele emphasises the central role played by memory of the war and the Versailles Treaty in German politics in the 1920s and 1930s: > Active denial of war guilt in Germany and German resentment at both > reparations and continued Allied occupation of the Rhineland made widespread > revision of the meaning and memory of the war problematic.
In that context, Tobin suggested a new system for international currency stability, and proposed that such a system include an international charge on foreign-exchange transactions. In 2001, in another context, just after "the nineties' crises in Mexico, Southeast Asia and Russia,"Excerpt from original German article: "wie die Krisen in Mexiko, Südostasien und Russland während der neunziger Jahre gezeigt haben. Meine Steuer würde Notenbanken kleiner Länder Handlungsspielraum zurückgeben und dem Diktat der Finanzmärkte etwas entgegensetzen." - which included the 1994 economic crisis in Mexico, the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, and the 1998 Russian financial crisis, Tobin summarized his idea: > The tax on foreign exchange transactions was devised to cushion exchange > rate fluctuations.
The UP's roots were planted in a semi-clandestine intellectual movement that opposed Antonescu's regime in general and, in particular, its support for Nazi Germany and the other Axis Powers, and its commitment to war against the Soviet Union. According to its own records, the UP emerged clandestinely in early 1942, centered on the activities of three left-leaning intellectuals: the brain surgeon Bagdasar, the sociologist Vlădescu-Răcoasa, and the mathematician Stoilow. As listed by historian Corneliu Crăciun, the group's explicit goals were: "sabotaging the war industry, resisting the dispatch of men on the anti-Soviet front, organizing partisans into detachments, annulling the Vienna Diktat, peace with the USA, England and the USSR."Crăciun, p. 299.
They carry the name Solo because of her marriage to Han Solo. Since the true last-name of Han's father is unknown in canon, Han would be the basically muoneyo family unrelated to the Skywalker, as Han Solo is not the first Solo, but since they are non-canonical, they don't exist within the series continuity. In Legends non-canonical backstory, Han Solo's ancestors include King Berethon e Solo, who ruled the planet Corellia (the Solo homeworld) during the Golden Age of the Old Republic, and set up a constitutional monarchy in 312 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin). His descendants continued to rule Corellia until the establishment of the Diktat centuries later.
He answered, "If were we are to judge by this book, there seems to have been precious little".Tresnak, Frank Review of Moscow, Tokyo, London pages 229–231 from International Journal, Volume 7, No. 3, Summer 1952 page 230. Tresnak continued, "From 1919 onward, the common aim of almost all Germans was to achieve the abolition of the Versailles diktat–a treaty which just or unjust, was an adequate expression of the German defeat of 1918, after a war which Germany herself started". Tresnak wrote that Dirksen's memoirs showed that he, in all essentials, fully agreed with Hitler's plans to destroy the international order that had been established by the Treaty of Versailles and to have Germany become the world's strongest power.
However, her Danish residence permit was of short duration, and at the end of May 1919 she had to move on to Sweden, where , a philosophy professor at Lund University to whom her friend Gertrud Liljequist was married, was able to provide the necessary guarantees on her behalf. From Lund she followed post war developments with keen interest. Writing to her husband on 25 June 1919, she identified the peace terms imposed by US president, Woodrow Wilson as the "dictates of an imperialistic power, victorious following the downfall of its German rival" ("Diktat imperialistischer Siegermächte über den niedergeworfenen Konkurrenten Deutschland"). However, much of her attention was devoted to planning for future developments of socialism and the labour movement in Germany.
Two large funeral ceremonies were held for Heydrich as one of the most important Nazi leaders: first in Prague, where the way to Prague Castle was lined by thousands of SS men with torches and then in Berlin attended by all leading Nazi figures, including Hitler, who placed the German Order and Blood Order medals on the funeral pillow. The assassination of Heydrich was one of the most significant moments of the resistance in Czechoslovakia. The act led to the immediate dissolution of the Munich Agreement (called the "Munich Diktat" or "Munich Treason" by the Czechs) signed by the United Kingdom, France and Italy. The UK and France agreed that, after the Nazis were defeated, the annexed territory (Sudetenland) would be restored to Czechoslovakia.
On his final appearance of the season, Fairy King Prawn attempted to become the first Hong Kong-trained racehorse to win a Group/ Grade I race abroad when he was sent to Japan to contest the Yasuda Kinen over 1600 metres at Tokyo Racecourse on 4 June. The Godolphin stable, which had won the race five years earlier with Heart Lake was represented by Diktat, a five-year-old who had won the Prix Maurice de Gheest in France and the Haydock Sprint Cup in England. The locally trained runners included Eagle Cafe (NHK Mile Cup), Black Hawk (Sprinters Stakes), Umeno Fiber (Yushun Himba) and King Halo (Takamatsunomiya Kinen). Fairy King Prawn raced well behind the leaders before moving out to the far outside in the straight.
Ricciardi von-Platen's book Nazism and euthanasia of the mentally ill in Germany (Die Tötung Geisteskranker in German), published in 1948, addressed the complicity of German physicians in the Nazi euthanasia crimes. It was generally ignored at the time. Reflecting in 1993, Ricciardi von-Platen said, regarding the mood of the population of Nuremberg (as cited by Helmut Sörgel in the Nürnberger Zeitung of April 29, 2000): In March 1947, the observers Alexander Mitscherlich and Fred Mielcke wrote a document entitled The Dictatorship of Human Contempt (Das Diktat der Menschenverachtung) which was published as a newly edited and extended book in April 1960 under the title Medicine without humanity ("Medizin ohne Menschlichkeit"). Of the three thousand copies printed of Alice's book, only about 20 still exist in libraries.

That line in Hitler's speech was written by Foreign Minister Baron Konstantin von Neurath, who wished to reassure foreign leaders who felt threatened by Germany's denunciation in March 1935 of Part V of the Treaty of Versailles, which had disarmed Germany. At the same time, Neurath wanted to provide an opening for the eventual remilitarisation of the Rhineland and so hedged the promise to obey Locarno only as long as other powers did the same. Hitler had always taken the line that Germany did not consider itself bound by the Diktat of Versailles but would respect any treaty that it willingly signed such as Locarno under which Germany had promised to keep the Rhineland demilitarized forever. Thus, Hitler always promised during his "peace speeches" to obey Locarno as opposed to Versailles.
In The Village Voice, Robert Christgau called it a "deeply brave and pretentious record ... signifies like a cross between lesser Tricky and Sly's Riot Goin' On", and wrote of D'Angelo, "he leads from strength" rather than "tune-and-hook", "a feel for bass more disquieting than bootalicious." NME praised its diverse sound and commented that the album "represents nothing less than African American music at a crossroads ... To simply call D'Angelo's work neo-classic soul, as per corporate diktat, would be reductive, for that would be to ignore the elements of vaudeville jazz, Memphis horns, ragtime blues, funk and bass grooves, not to mention hip-hop, that slip out of every pore of these 13 haunted songs." Christopher John Farley of Time called it a "richly imagined CD". Mark Anthony Neal of PopMatters called it "the working blueprint for 'post-Soul' black pop".
After an absence of well over nine months Diktat returned in the inaugural Shergar Cup at Goodwood Racecourse on 8 May when he represented the "Rest of the World" team and was ridden, as in all his races that year, by Frankie Dettori. In the seven furlong leg of the contest he was made the 11/10 favourite ahead of Russian Revival (Dubai Duty Free Cup), Ramooz (Minstrel Stakes), Tomba (Prix de la Forêt) and Keos (Prix de Seine-et- Oise). The favourite was held up by Dettori and had some difficulty obtaining a clear run but then accelerated in "impressive" style to take the lead in the final strides and in by half a length from Russian Revival. On 26 June the colt started odds-on favourite for the Group Three Van Geest Criterion Stakes at Newmarket despite carrying top weight of 133 pounds.
In response, the Afghan government declared that it recognised "neither the imaginary Durand nor any similar line" and that all previous Durand Line agreements were void. They also announced that the Durand ethnic division line had been imposed on them under coercion/duress and was a diktat. This had no tangible effect as there has never been a move in the United Nations to enforce such a declaration due to both nations being constantly busy in wars with their other neighbours (See Indo-Pakistani wars and Civil war in Afghanistan). In 1950 the House of Commons of the United Kingdom held its view on the Afghan-Pakistan dispute over the Durand Line by stating: At the 1956 SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization) Ministerial Council Meeting held at Karachi, capital of Pakistan at the time, it was stated: In 1976, the then president of Afghanistan, Sardar Mohammed Daoud Khan recognised Durand Line as international border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Working intensively as a teacher, researcher and pedagogue, Professor Feider helped establish the Natural Science Museum in Odorheiu Secuiesc. In 1938, Zicman Feider published in the “Annals of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University” one of the discoveries of his passionate, under the title “Sur une espèce nouvelle de genre Euthrombidium” (About a new species of Euthrombidium). Unfortunately, the atmosphere in Odorheiu Secuiesc became incendiary after the 30 August 1940 - "Vienna Diktat", when Hungary received northern Transylvania from Romania, and the anti-Semitic manifestation became so pervasive that Zicman and his pregnant wife were forced to leave Transylvania for Moldova. Temporarily jobless and stigmatized as a Jew, Zicman sought to work as a teacher in Piatra Neamț, and eventually he found an opportunity to teach at the “Jewish Lyceum” of the city of Roman, Romania, at the end of 1940. His industrious work and his leadership skills were so well respected, he became the Principal of the “Jewish Lyceum”, where he worked until 1944, during World War II. From 1944 to 1949, he continued to work as a Biology teacher at “Roman’s Boys Lyceum” and at the “Commercial Lyceum” of the City of Roman.
