Logan and Halloran awaken in collars rigged with laser cutters, and are told to confess their sins to survive. Halloran forces Logan to go first, and he confesses to mislabeling John's x-rays years prior, causing his cancer to go undiagnosed; despite confessing, Logan is apparently killed. Halloran then admits to allowing criminals to walk free for personal gain and his collar deactivates. Logan is revealed to still be alive, and also the man who apparently died in the first barn game, which occurred ten years prior.

A crazed Payne battles Jack on the train's roof before the former is decapitated by a railway signal. Jack deactivates Annie's vest, but cannot free her from the pole as Payne had the key to her handcuffs.

In Justice League Europe #15, Lord Havok and the Extremists manage to find a way into the universe of the JLE, and attempt to take over Earth. In Justice League Europe #18, Lord Havok and his fellow villains are revealed to be robot duplicates of the original villains, created by theme park owner Mitch Wacky. The JLE bring Wacky to their Earth, where he quickly deactivates the robots. Lord Havok's form returns, thanks to the manipulations of Dreamslayer and the enslavement of Mitch Wacky (who is killed for his troubles).

702nd Expeditionary Airlift Squadron deactivates at Kandahar Airfield L-3 Communications, which has maintained the aircraft in Afghanistan, is shutting down its operations in the country and is having its equipment withdrawn as well, an Air Force official said. The Air Force decided to bring the aircraft back to the U.S. ahead of schedule because the maintenance contract with L-3 will expire this summer, the service official said. Keeping the aircraft in theater would mean spending an additional $20 million to $25 million in maintenance costs, the official said.

The U.S. military then begins a full-scale invasion of the island, led by Major Strickland. As the U.S. forces continue to the main excavation site, the central mountain on the island begins to fall apart, revealing a huge alien structure inside, which is nearly the size of the mountain itself. Nomad enters the excavation site at the mountain's base, but is captured by Kyong's men. Kyong deactivates Nomad's Nanosuit, and Nomad watches, helpless, as Kyong shoots one of the hostages in the head and then detonates explosive charges to open the structure.

As they perform a high-altitude jump onto one of the islands, an unknown flying entity disrupts the jump by smashing into Nomad, and the team is separated. The crash deactivates Nomad's Nanosuit and destroys his parachute, but he is saved because he lands on water and his suit absorbs the impact of the landing. After he makes his way to shore, Prophet is able to reset Nomad's suit remotely, restoring its normal function. As Raptor Team regroups after the jump, Aztec is killed by an unknown entity.

After a series of missions, the Material Defender and the Red Acropolis Research Team manage to develop an antivirus and convince the CED that they are not terrorists. The CED suggest to broadcast the antivirus through their strategic platform orbiting Earth, but the results are unsuccessful. The Material Defender is then sent to Venus, where Dravis has been tracked by the Red Acropolis. In the ensuing confrontation in his stronghold, Dravis is mortally wounded by the Guide-Bot's flares and the Material Defender deactivates the virus, which disables all of the PTMC's robots.

Balcus reveals his true form as the Zoalord and corners Sean, but the Guyver's defensive system activates the Mega Smasher cannons on his chest and obliterates Balcus and the laboratory. Sean deactivates the Guyver armor before he and Mizuki leave Chronos headquarters as Reed's former partner Col.

On Ord Mantell, Qui-Gon uses a mind-trick on the spaceport officer to find out that Baron Sando's ship visited Bold Moisture Plant. On their arrival at the moisture plant, they are attacked by many droids and after they destroy most of them, a man comes out and deactivates the droids.

Determined to prove that he can become a Scarer, Mike breaks into the school's lab where he enters the human world, but upon finding himself at a summer camp in a cabin full of children, he is forced to flee into the woods. Sulley confesses to Hardscrabble that he cheated just as Mike's break-in is alerted. Hardscrabble forbids anyone from going through the door, but Sulley sneaks through to rescue Mike. After reconciling, they try to return, but are unable to exit after Hardscrabble deactivates the door, waiting for the authorities to arrive.

Leonardo then hears of a terrorist attack and discovers through the All Seeing Eyes that the monkey carried the bomb. Once he deactivates the bomb, Leonardo becomes a member of Libra.

Gabriel and his men load the hostages onto a bus and demand a plane wait for them at the local airport, but while en route, the bus is lifted off by a S-64 Aircrane and deposited on the roof of a local skyscraper. Gabriel deactivates the bombs and departs with his surviving men on a waiting helicopter, which Stanley shoots down using a rocket-propelled grenade from the bus.

Weiss deactivates the bomb, and the aliens promise to never again meddle in our affairs, and return Jane, Tyler, and Weiss back to safety.

But the next night, while Terry is sending it, Talbot deactivates the computer link before Jack receives his contact's name. Terry goes to Liz's home to talk to her, only to discover she and her children are gone and the house is empty and deserted. She hurries out, but is cornered by a strange man and ushered to a nearby limousine where Archer Lincoln is waiting for her. Inside the car, Lincoln confirms Harry Carlson's death and tells Terry that Liz and her children have been moved from their homes and given new identities for their own safety.

Daffy tries to adjust the device but the adjustment causes it to start removing the plaster ("Oh! My walls are wuined!"). He first appears when Tucker activates his sword before the Temple of Arms, knowing it was a key built by its creators that could activate the temples. Santa then deactivates the facility, and proceeds to test anyone who entered the temples with illusions that show their greatest fears in search for "a true warrior of mental clarity and strength", which turns out to be Caboose, who is not intimidated by Santa's ordeal. After Caboose exits, Santa introduces himself as an AI left behind to protect gifts from his creators, which range from alien weaponry to communications centers.

The current Cobweb apparently started her crimefighting careers at a very early age, although as Li'l Cobweb she was less than successful, and not taken seriously by adults. The tale in Tomorrow Stories Special #1 reveals that, despite their close relationship, Cobweb and Clarice's relationship has only recently blossomed. The story explains that their first kiss occurred on June 14 of the previous year, having revealed their true feelings while caught in an apparently inescapable trap, which they are able to escape from when the villain deactivates it to watch them make out. After the player waits, and gets farther away from the gravity of the planet/station, the SPEC drive will “ramp up”, and the player's ship will stretch and star streaks will appear, until the player's spacecraft slows down due to gravity, or the player deactivates the SPEC drive.

The combination of Jaxom's time travel and this infestation is responsible for the two Long Intervals in the history of Pern wherein Thread failed to appear. The book concludes with a final conversation between AIVAS and Masterharper Robinton, with AIVAS expressing both satisfaction that its objective of eradicating future Threadfall has been achieved and concern over the possibility that Pernese society could come to idolize the facility as an all-knowing Oracle, thereby stifling further development. To prevent the latter, AIVAS deactivates its artificial intelligence functions, leaving its wealth of knowledge available to the Pernese via computer access, but without the crutch of AIVAS' direct guidance. Robinton, whose health has declined since the kidnapping, and himself satisfied that Pern has a promising future ahead, passes away in his sleep alongside his fire-lizard Zair.

Once Walter frees Sterling, the two escape and contact Marcy for support as the drones approach H.T.U.V. headquarters in Washington D.C. Walter attempts to hack into Killian's bionic arm but when Killian realizes this, he tries to flee via air with a drone, but Walter catches up. Walter risks his life by trapping Killian in the inflatable hug and deactivates the villain's arm as Walter himself falls, but Sterling, who has turned himself back into a pigeon, successfully flies for the first time and carries him to safety with help from other pigeons, while Killian is found and arrested. Despite saving the world, Sterling, back in his human form, and Walter are fired for disobedience. However, they are quickly rehired by the H.T.U.V. as the agency could learn from Walter's more peaceful ways of handling villainy.

Since when people become old, their thymus don't work well, an artificial thymus would be a good choice to replace an old, not-functioning-well thymus. The idea of using T cells to fight against infections has been around for a time, but until recently, the idea of using a T cell source, an artificial thymus is proposed. “We know that the key to creating a consistent and safe supply of cancer-fighting T cells would be to control the process in a way that deactivates all T cell receptors in the transplanted cells, except for the cancer-fighting receptors,” Crooks said.

The D-pad by itself is used to look the surroundings and change movement direction but holding the C button will allow to look faster, however it can also re-center the player's view when pressed by itself. Pressing both A and C will allow to turn the view much faster, while firing the currently selected weapon is done by pressing the B button and the Option button alternates between the right and left hands of the robot. Depending on their current position, weapons can be chosen by pressing its corresponding number on the controller's keypad, matching the diagram of the robot seen on the upper left side of the screen. Pressing 2 activates the advanced controls, which lock the robot's lower part and allow players to look at any direction without changing course of movement but only 90° and turning left or right is done by holding A and pressing the corresponding direction, while pressing 2 again deactivates the advanced controls and unlocks the lower part.

EVE brings the plant back to McCrea, who watches EVE's recordings of Earth and concludes that they have to go back. However, AUTO is revealed to be loyal only to his own secret no-return directive A113—issued after BnL inaccurately concluded centuries ago that the planet could not be saved—even when McCrea countermands it; AUTO mutinies with GO-4 as a result, electrocuting and frying WALL-E's circuit board, putting EVE into standby, throwing them both down the garbage chute, and locking McCrea in his quarters. EVE and WALL-E are nearly ejected into space along with the ship's trash but are saved by the cleaning robot "Microbe Obliterator" named M-O, who has been following WALL-E's dirt trail across the ship. As humans and robots help in securing the plant, McCrea and AUTO fight for control, resulting in GO-4 being obliterated and WALL-E being crushed in the Holo- Detector when the latter tries to keep it open; McCrea eventually overpowers and deactivates AUTO, and the plant is inserted into the Holo-Detector, initiating the hyperjump.
