While working on The Critic, LaMarche once voiced 29 characters in one 30-minute episode. His time on The Critic also afforded LaMarche the opportunity to once again parody Orson Welles, this time after a video reading of a will (the Sherman family was so wealthy, they had hired Welles to narrate it) dissolves into a commercial for Mrs. Pells Fishsticks, as well as another for Rosebud Frozen Peas ("full of count-ry goodness and green pea-ness"), and another for Blotto Bros. wine. He also occasionally served as an uncredited fill-in for main cast member Jon Lovitz as Jay Sherman.

Cast members reprising their roles from Animal House included John Vernon (Dean Wormer), Stephen Furst (Flounder), Bruce McGill (D-Day), and James Widdoes (Hoover). Priscilla Lauris, who played Dean Wormer's secretary in the movie, also returned to reprise her role, and her character was given a name (Miss Leonard). Josh Mostel was cast as Jim "Blotto" Blutarsky, brother of Bluto, the character played in the film by John Belushi. Despite Bluto's absence (it is revealed in the pilot episode that he had been drafted into the U.S. Army), the scriptwriters made running references to his character throughout the series.

The duo's "cuckoo" theme, entitled "Dance of The Cuckoos", was composed by Roach musical director Marvin Hatley as the on-the-hour chime for the Roach studio radio station. Generally known as "The Dance of the Cuckoos" it was copyrighted with the name "Ku Ku" and was first heard on the opening credits for Blotto (1930) and the Spanish version of Night Owls (1930). Laurel heard the tune on the station, and asked Hatley to use it as the Laurel and Hardy theme song. In Laurel's eyes, the song's melody represented Hardy's character (pompous and dramatic), while the harmony represented Laurel's own character (somewhat out of key, and only able to register two notes: "coo-coo").

The girls invite them up to their apartment while their clothes dry. One of the females becomes very amorous with Stan and all proceed to become blotto with beer. A large boyfriend of one of the females appears at the apartment, sending the duo scrambling out the back window, in full view of their wives who have already seen a newspaper headline announcing that the Orpheum Theater had been gutted by a fire. The rest of the story is about how the duo lie to their unimpressed wives in ever-escalating tall tales about the things they supposedly saw at the theater, before realizing the truth and being chased out by the wives.

They released Parking Karma and found their way into the larger bars and venues of the Chicago scene. After the album was released, Dave Allen - an old college bandmate of Paul's - joined on keyboards, filling out the bass-acoustic guitar-electric guitar-keyboards-drums ensemble that has remained consistent through personnel changes since. In addition to Piano, Synths, & Hammond B-3, Dave supplied another singing voice and an ability to improvise lyrics that complemented a long-standing element of the early Blotto show, the "Reggae Rap," in which Paul would freestyle over a rock-steady type of beat. In the mid-90s, they released a second CD, "Bad Hair Day," and continued their process of steadily playing shows in the Chicago area.

Barlow was seen many times with Carolyn Garcia (whose monologue is dubbed on the eponymous track "Mountain Girl") at their concerts mixing with the fans and members in the band, and was a close friend of String Cheese Incident producer Jerry Harrison. He also participated with the Chicago-based jam band Mr. Blotto on their release Barlow Shanghai. Barlow was a spiritual mentor and student of Kemp Muhl and Sean Lennon, collaborating with their band The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger and making a cameo in their 2014 music video "Animals." One of Barlow's writings that has remained in circulation is his "Principles of Adult Behavior", which he penned in 1977 on the eve of his 30th birthday and which he continued to use to describe his approach to life.

In a 1978 interview for an article in the Los Angeles Times, she reflects on her frequent work with Stan Laurel during that period: Garvin appeared in a total of 11 Laurel and Hardy films, and in 1928 she briefly teamed with fellow actress Marion Byron to perform as a female version of Stan and Ollie. Along with Edgar Kennedy, she and Byron were cast in A Pair of Tights, an "acknowledged masterpiece." To promote their 2009 album, Get Color, the band held a sweepstakes contest, in which a winner of a golden ticket was awarded a free trip to Los Angeles to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain with the band. Other prizes included locks of the band members' hair and posters autographed in blood. The album earned a score of eight from Pitchfork in which the review claimed “Never merely meager, this project delivers, both when you're waving your orgy-snorkel all blotto on-the-town, and for a soundtrack to serious rumination at your midday desk of harsh reality.” Duzsik agreed with an interviewer that Get Color was indeed more accessible than their self-titled debut, but “It’s still crazy, though.” The track "Die Slow" was released as the album's single with its music video garnering nearly 500,000 views.

Whitelines is also credited with kick-starting the photographic career of Nick Hamilton, who worked as a staffer at Permanent Publishing alongside skate lensman Wig Worland before leaving Whitelines to become photo editor at Transworld Snowboarding. Over the years Whitelines has developed from its early fanzine style to a respected snowboard journal, and regularly features the work of some of the best international snowboard photographers, including Jeff Curtes, Blotto, Andy Wright and Scott Serfas. Regular columnists have included pro snowboarders Devun Walsh and David Benedek. In 2005, Benedek chose a cover-mounted DVD on Whitelines as the means to distribute his acclaimed film, ‘91 Words for Snow’, in the UK. Whitelines has helped spawn the careers of many of Britain’s professional snowboarders, such as Danny Wheeler, Tyler Chorlton, Jenny Jones, Dan Wakeham, Scott McMorris, Dom Harington, Ben Kilner and Jamie Nicholls.

Another Fine Mess (1930) In 1927, Laurel and Hardy began sharing screen time together in Slipping Wives, Duck Soup (no relation to the 1933 Marx Brothers' film), and With Love and Hisses. Roach Studios' supervising director Leo McCarey recognized the audience reaction to the two and began teaming them together, which led to the start of a Laurel and Hardy series later that year. They began producing a huge body of short movies, including The Battle of the Century (1927) (with one of the greatest pie fights ever filmed), Should Married Men Go Home? (1928), Two Tars (1928), Unaccustomed As We Are (1929, marking their transition to talking pictures) Berth Marks (1929), Blotto (1930), Brats (1930), Another Fine Mess (1930), Be Big! (1931), and many others. In 1929, they appeared in their first feature, in one of the revue sequences of Hollywood Revue of 1929, and the following year they appeared as the comic relief in a lavish Technicolor musical feature entitled The Rogue Song.

Describing Martyn's style as a mix of blues, jazz and rock, he hailed One World for being "as blotto and as blessed with sometimes hazy, sometimes crystalline music, as anything he's ever done," drawing comparisons with Bessie Smith, Hoagy Carmichael and Skip James. In Sounds, Vivien Goldman hailed Blackwell's deeply sympathetic production and the inventive music, praising Martyn for carrying the "spirit of John Cale/Terry Riley music expansion", while feeling he is "not taken as seriously as he should be".

Since creating Vintage Blue in late 2011, the band has appeared with Fitz & The Tantrums, Third Eye Blind, Lifehouse, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, The Mowglis, Rusted Root, ZZ Ward, Saints of Valory, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, Punch Brothers, Brett Dennen, Local H, John Waite, Vertical Horizon, 10,000 Maniacs, Cowboy Mouth, Company of Thieves, Lovehammers, Hey Monea!, 56 Hope Road, Mr. Blotto, Deadbeat Darling, 7th Heaven, Archie Powell & The Exports, Carbon Leaf, Gaelic Storm and most notably, several appearances with Sister Hazel in 2011 and 2012 and a VIP appearance for Dave Matthews Band. Vintage Blue has played many of the notable clubs around Chicago, including The House of Blues Chicago (8x), Metro (2x), Lincoln Hall, Double Door (4x), Cubby Bear, Abbey Pub, Subterranean, Empty Bottle, Schubas, Tonic Room, and the Elbo Room. The band has also found a home in the competitive Chicago Festival circuit playing The Taste of Chicago (2013), World's Largest Block Party (2012, 2013, 2014), Sheffield Garden Walk (2012, 2013), Roscoe Village Burger Fest (2013), The Boulevard Bash (2012), The Guinness Oysterfest (2012), Long Grove's Chocolate, Strawberry and Apple Festivals (2013), St. Norbert Block Party (2013), and Des Plaines Fall Festival in September 2013.

" This party lifestyle followed them into the studio, as Livermore recalled: "If you've seen the [album] cover photo—a bleary-eyed band surrounded by a staggering array of bottles—you'll have some idea what the recording session looked like [...] I was tempted to say something as I helped unload cases of Budweiser along with the band's signature bass cabinet with its spray-painted slogan, 'THE QUEERS ARE HERE'. But I kept my mouth shut [...] Ben had the sense to go easy on his own drinking, and Mass didn't drink at all, but a couple band members were on the way to being completely blotto by the time we were done setting up the mics." Nevertheless, he found that the band was so well-rehearsed that their intoxication hardly affected their performance, the songs flowing almost effortlessly while Giorgini worked eagerly and Weasel kept everyone on task: "Ben was determined to crank out [the album] in two days flat. He approached it the same way he had [Screeching Weasel's 1991 album] My Brain Hurts: one or two takes and done for nearly every song [...] It helped immensely, too, that the band came in with a fully developed and rehearsed set of songs.
