Sarumaru Genshi-ko is a both detective fiction and a historical novel in which the protagonist mentally travels in time under the influence of medications and, in a science-fiction style twist, amalgamates with the mind of Shinobu Orikuchi and solves crimes in Orikuchi's time as well as unravelling the mystery of the Heian-era iroha and the relationship of the poets Sarumaru no Taifu and Kakinomoto no Hitomaro. In 1985 Izawa left TBS to become a full-time writer. Most of Izawa's novels are on the plane of what he calls historical mysteries, in which he ties modern-day murders into his detective fiction while taking the mysteries of history as his themes. In addition, he also works on pure historical fiction, and he develops his own unique theories on history, particularly since 1992 in the successive instalments of his popular series of non-fiction history books, Gyakusetsu no Nihonshi ("Paradoxical Japanese History").

Banks performed "BBD" at the 2013 alt=Azealia Banks "BBD" is a hip-hop song with heavy trap influences, that runs for a total duration of three minutes and eighteen seconds. Manny Faces from BirthPlace described the track as "a musically frantic, bass heavy stuttery-snare Apple Juice Kid/Sup Doodle-co-production", while one The Huffington Post writer described the song as "Chicago rave meets southern rap". HipHopWired writer Kazeem Famuyide thought that the track was "EDM-inspired", which allowed Banks to "show off of her rapid-fire flow", whereas MTV writer Phillip Mlynar described the tracks instrumental as a "slinky bopping beat". Genevieve Oliver from Pretty Much Amazing thought that the track "effortlessly amalgamates hip- hop and dance trends (a little trap-y, a little rave-y, Azealia said on Twitter; not to mention the song's title appears to reference Bell Biv Devoe) with her own already-classic rapid-fire, sassy wordplay".

A process for making silkier and smoother chocolate called conching was developed in 1879 by Rodolphe Lindt and made it easier to bake with chocolate, as it amalgamates smoothly and completely with cake batters. Until 1890 to 1900, chocolate recipes were mostly for chocolate drinks, and its presence in cakes was only in fillings and glazes. In 1886, American cooks began adding chocolate to the cake batter, to make the first chocolate cakes in the US. The Duff Company of Pittsburgh, a molasses manufacturer, introduced Devil's food chocolate cake mixes in the mid-1930s, but introduction was put on hold during World War II. Duncan Hines introduced a "Three Star Special" (so called because a white, yellow or chocolate cake could be made from the same mix) was introduced three years after cake mixes from General Mills and Duncan Hines, and took over 48 percent of the market.Anne Byrn (2003), Cake Mix Doctor, Rodale, Inc.

The group was founded in 1995 by Liz Perlman Bodian, Jenn Madan Cohen, Jessica Cooper and Jonathan Oriole. It is formally a student group at Tufts University Hillel, and the presidency of the group is a position on the Hillel student board. In the same year it was founded, Shir Appeal hosted a Jewish A Cappella festival at Tufts University. Shir Appeal was the first group to have an album produced by John Clark, himself a graduate of the Tufts Amalgamates. Many of Shir Appeal’s early arrangements were composed by John Clark ("Laila Tov Europa", "Yamei Hatom"), as well as members of the Tufts Beelzebubs. Being at Tufts, a “fertile crescent” of a cappella, Shir Appeal quickly gained expertise in all aspects of a cappella. Tufts’ University president, Lawrence Bacow (2001–2011), also hosted the group on numerous occasions at the president’s house (Gifford House) on the Tufts Campus. Shir Appeal is also a regular participant at an annual Jewish A Cappella festival at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City, held in February.
