The island was attacked by the English from 1296 onwards, and the Abbey was abandoned after the Scottish Reformation in 1560. It has since been used for defensive purposes, as it is situated in a strategically important position in the middle of the Firth of Forth. A medieval inscription carved above the Abbey's entrance reads "Stet domus haec donec fluctus formica marinos ebibat, et totum testudo perambulet orbem", or, "May this house stand until an ant drains the flowing sea, and a tortoise walks around the whole world". Inchcolm Abbey has the most complete surviving remains of any Scottish monastic house.
Levy senses that the timing of the arrests was too soon after the initial arrest of Monk and surmises that the police used illegal surveillance. Sensing the state's reluctance to take the compromised evidence to court, Levy negotiates a deal for Marlo: Marlo will go free with his charges suspended on the stet docket but will face prosecution if he returns to drug distribution. Chris will face life without the possibility of parole and will have to plead guilty to all of the vacant house murders. Monk faces a lengthy sentence on a plea bargain with no possibility of bail.

Originally, the band was known as The Stetson Brothers, after Stetson hats. There were three MCs, Wise the Human Mix Machine, and Prince Paul. The Stetson Brothers changed its name and style to Stetsasonic the Hip-Hop Band and clinched a deal with Tommy Boy Records when DBC came up with and played the funky bassline for its debut single "If You Can't Say It All Just Say STET", live for Tom Silverman, owner of Tommy Boy Records. After a few months of the single being in regular rotation on radio stations, the band released its first album On Fire (1986).
When that manuscript was sent by Pocket Books for approval by Paramount Studios, the pages with the slash fiction were marked to be edited out of the eventual novel. It was returned, but at the time Pocket Books were between editors as Mimi Panich had just left, and her replacement Karen Haas had not yet arrived. At some point, someone went through the manuscript and marked the pages which Paramount had asked to be removed with the letters "STET", which is a Latin term used by proofreaders to tell the printer to disregard earlier changes. Pocket Books published 250,000 copies of Killing Time in the first print run.
Centro Studi e Laboratori Telecomunicazioni (CSELT) was an Italian research center for telecommunication based in Torino, the biggest in Italy and one of the most important in Europe. It played a major role internationally especially in the standardization of protocols and technologies in telecommunication: perhaps the most widely well known is the standardization of mp3. It was active from 1964 to 2001, initially as a part of the Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale-STET – Società Finanziaria Telefonica group, the major conglomerate of Italian public Industries in the 1960s and 1970s; it later became part of Telecom Italia Group. In 2001 was renamed TILAB as part of Telecom Italia Group.
In 1989, with the sponsorship of Prime Minister Romano Prodi, STET signed for a joint venture between Italtel and AT&T;, with 20% of Italtel being acquired by AT&T.; This was the conclusion of a long negotiation process which also involved Alcatel, Siemens and Ericsson as potential alternatives to AT&T.; The agreement between AT&T; and Italtel included a non-compete clause whereby Italtel would maintain its leadership role in the Italian telephone exchange market.«Repubblica», Italtel-AT&T;: c'è la firma«Los Angeles Times», AT&T; and Italtel Sign Broad Pact In the early 1990s, the state monopoly on telephony was abolished, and the state-owned operator SIP was turned into a private company, Telecom Italia.
Franco Russolillo, Storia dell'IRI At the same time, as a consequence of the privatization of SIP/Telecom, Italtel lost its position as SIP's privileged equipment provider; the alliance between Italtel and AT&T; proved to be unsuccessful for both partners, and was canceled in 1994. In 1995, STET initiated a joint venture with Siemens for the control of Italtel through a newly funded company called "Telsi". In this process, Siemens Telecomunicazioni was merged into Italtel. In the late 1990s, Italtel ceded to Siemens all its radio and mobile-related activities, and in turn Siemens sold its 50% share of Telsi to Telecom Italia, which thus ended up owning, either directly or indirectly, 100% if Italtel.
Only after this follow the princely arms of the Holy Roman Empire: at first the seven prince-electors, followed by a presentation of four coats of arms of the hierarchy of "members" (glider) of the empire, in the order of dukes, margraves, burgraves, landgraves, counts, knights, cities (stet), villages (dorffer) and peasants (pavrn). Then there follows a fuller index of the arms of dukes, counts, barons, and knights. The next section is dedicated to the arms of the Roman Catholic clergy, beginning with the Holy See, followed by cardinals, archbishops and bishops. The book concludes with a page showing the arms of Nuremberg, and a short apology by the author, in which he asks the reader to correct possible mistakes.
At the end of the Thirty Years' War much of the surrounding area was devastated and the forest spread again. Thus in 1688 we hear that the Zerrahnschen Berge stet reich von Eychen Mast undt dannen Holtz, undt können darin feist gemacht werden 465 Schweine (the "Serrahn Hills are rich in oak mast and their trees and 465 pigs can be kept there"). At the beginning of the 18th century at the instigation of the Duke of Strelitz, Adolphus Frederick II, numerous glassworks and potash distilleries were founded in the region, but the Serrahn Hills remained unaffected due to poor road communications and its forests remained largely intact. This made it a popular hunting area as well as a botanical forestry research site for the dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
1229 (21 June 1960), Ingegner Brocchi, presidente della STIPEL In 1950, the company was jointly acquired by SIP and STET, the financial services arm of the IRI (Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale, "Institute for Industrial Reconstruction") a public holding company established to support the survival and development of industrial assets in Italy. In the same period, new production facilities were established in several places in Italy, including Santa Maria Capua Vetere in Campania (for the production of telephone devices), Settimo Milanese (near Milan), L'Aquila, Catania, and Carini (Palermo), and the company grew to about 30.000 employees.

Prodi with Minister Luigi Granelli in 1985 In 1982–1989 Prime Minister Giovanni Spadolini appointed Prodi President of the influential state-owned industrial holding company Institute for Industrial Reconstruction (IRI). He was the first economist to lead the IRI. During his presidency Prodi approved the sale of twenty-nine companies in the group (the largest one was Alfa Romeo, which was privatized in 1986), the reduction of the number of employees, the liquidation of Finsider, Italsider and Italstat companies, extraordinary operations in important companies like STET and Finmeccanica and the attempted sale of Southern Electricity Company (SME) to the CIR group of Carlo De Benedetti; however this operation was heavily hindered by the government of Bettino Craxi. A group of entrepreneurs, including Silvio Berlusconi, made an alternative bid to block the sale; the offer was not honored for financial shortcomings, but the sale of SME blocked.

Stet was the first software system known to be released under the GNU AGPL, on November 21, 2007, and is the only known program to be used mainly for the production of its own license. Flask developer Armin Ronacher noted in 2013 that the GNU AGPL is a "terrible success, especially among the startup community" as a "vehicle for dual commercial licensing", and gave Humhub, MongoDB, OpenERP, RethinkDB, Shinken, Slic3r, SugarCRM, and WURFL as examples. MongoDB dropped the AGPL in late-2018 in favor of the "Server Side Public License" (SSPL), a variation of GPLv3 that requires those who use the software as part of a "service", accessible to third-parties, must make the entire source code of all software used to facilitate the service available under the same license. The SSPL has been rejected by the Open Source Initiative and banned by both Debian and the Fedora Project, citing that the license's intent is to discriminate against cloud computing providers offering services based on the software without purchasing its commercial license.
Swanzy began working for the BBC during the war,Diana Athill in her memoir Stet: An Editor's Life (Granta Books, 2000, Chapter 3) has written of a two-floor flat in Devonshire Place that she and her friend Marjorie shared with George Weidenfeld and Henry Swanzy: "The few young men in the BBC at that time had to be exempt from military service. George was exempt because he was still an Austrian.... Perhaps Henry was disqualified from active service because of some weakness in his health, or perhaps he was a conscientious objector who was considered more useful in the BBC than down a coal-mine.... The men's floor had an enviable bathroom, all black glass and chrome, given extra distinction by containing a piano on which Henry often played moody music." reporting for the General Overseas Service.Obituary, The Times, 6 April 2004.
