The large shell large measures 7.5 mm. It is umbilicated, yellowish-white. The nuclear whorls are decollated. The six post-nuclear whorls are decidedly, slopingly, tabulatedly shouldered at the summit, otherwise moderately rounded.

The size of the shell varies between 13 mm and 30 mm. The solid shell has a rather tumidly conical shape. The whorls are slopingly convex, densely strongly grained, here and there linearly engraved. The lines are obliquely minutely crenulated.

On the base and aperture they are coarse, but almost disappear on the point. They and the suture are exceptionally independent of one another. The colour of the shell is yellowish porcellanous white. The spire is high, narrow, conical, and slopingly subscalar.

The spire is high, conical, and slopingly subscalar. The protoconch is broken. The shell contains probably 10 whorls, rather short, with a straight somewhat drooping shoulder, convex, and appearing contracted below in consequence of the dying out of the longitudinal ribs as they approach the suture. The conical base contracts rather rapidly, and is prolonged into the straight, very slightly reverted, direct, narrow, cylindrical aperture.

The six whorls of the teleoconch are well rounded, slopingly shouldered at the summit and separated by constricted sutures. They are ornamented by almost equal and equally spaced spiral keels and axial ribs between the sutures on the spire. There are 4 spiral keels on the first, second, and third whorls, 6 on the fourth, and 7 upon the penultimate whorl. The first of these keels is on the shoulder of the whorl near the summit and is somewhat less developed than the rest.

The nine whorls of the teleoconch are flattened, and slopingly shouldered toward the summit. They are marked by distinctly spaced, well-rounded, very regular, slightly retractively slanting axial ribs of which 18 occur upon the first five and 20 upon the remaining turns. These ribs become decidedly enfeebled and somewhat flattened toward the summit. The intercostal spaces are about twice as wide as the ribs crossed by 12 incised spiral lines of which the first to fourth, and the sixth, ninth, and tenth are mere striations while the fifth, seventh, eighth, eleventh, and twelfth are subequal and much stronger.

The seven whorls of the teleoconch are moderately rounded, strongly constricted at the sutures, and slopingly shouldered at the summit. They are ornamented by strong, retractive axial ribs of which 14 occur upon the first, 16 upon the second to fourth, 18 upon the fifth, and 20 upon the penultimate turn. In addition to the axial ribs, the whorls are marked by spiral cords between the sutures, which are a little more than half as strong as the ribs and of which three occur upon the first three whorls and four upon the succeeding turns. The second one below the summit marks the angle of the long sloping shoulder.

Besides these, the whole surface, is covered with irregular and unequal threads ; these are feeblest on the sloping shoulder below the suture : close below the upper keel and on the snout and its conical base they are fine. Of these, about 4 above and 2 below the lower keel are the strongest, but they all tend to subdivide themselves and the whole shell is scored by irregular and somewhat broken microscopic lines. The colour of the shell is a translucent white under a thin, pale, greyish-yellow epidermis, which adheres closely, but is apt to rub through. The spire is high, narrow, conical, and slopingly scalar in consequence of the drooping shoulder between the suture and the keel.
