According to a book in Rootcore that told about dragons, it said that the baby dragon could only be hatched by forcing the egg open with a hammer; a tactic of which Clare did not approve. When Jenji was released in "Scaredy Cat," he told the Rangers that it must be sat on to hatch. Clare did so; therefore when the dragon was released, it came to call her "Mama".
