The Red Wings traded Sawchuk to the Boston Bruins in June 1955 because they had a capable younger goaltender in the minor leagues (Glenn Hall). This devastated Sawchuk. During his second season with Boston, Sawchuk was diagnosed with mononucleosis, but returned to the team after only two weeks. Physically weak, playing poorly, and on the verge of a nervous breakdown and exhaustion, he announced his retirement in early 1957 and was labeled a "quitter" by team executives and several newspapers.

Méphistophélès maligns Marguerite, and Valentin tries to strike him with his sword, which shatters in the air.
Secondly, it is often difficult to justify abandoning a project after putting so much time, money, and effort used in an effort to achieve success, also known as the "sunk cost fallacy." Lastly, when struggling to salvage a losing proposition other opportunities are often left unseen or diminished in comparison to the failing project. According to Levitt and Dubner, quitting a failing project and freeing one's time up for other opportunities is not being a quitter; it's being a realist.

The official club name was "The Fair and Square Club". The club slogan was "A quitter never wins and a winner never quits". Except for Seckatary Hawkins in Cuba and The Ghost of Lake Tapaho, the setting was a river bank that was a composite based on Schulker's familiarity with segments of the Ohio River, the Licking River, and the Kentucky River. Seckatary Hawkins, a fat boy with a cowlick hairdo, records daily minutes of the adventures of a remarkably organized group of boys.
Born Pierrette Marie-Clotilde Schwartz (Schwartz being her mother's name) in Châteauroux, Indre, she is perhaps best known for her 1999 novel L'Inceste (Incest) which recounts an incestuous relationship with her father. It is a subject which appears in several of her previous books, but it is unclear whether these works are autofiction, and whether the events described actually took place. Angot herself describes her work – a metafiction on society's fundamental prohibition of incest and her own writings on the subject – as performative acts. (cf Quitter la ville).

Mandelson shocked many with a triumphalist victory speech in which he declared "They underestimated Hartlepool, and they underestimated me, because I am a fighter and not a quitter!". The following year, the town's first direct Mayoral election generated surprise when the mascot of Hartlepool United F.C., H'Angus the Monkey (real name Stuart Drummond) was elected on a platform that included free bananas for schoolchildren. Mandelson resigned as MP for Hartlepool when he was appointed as a European Commissioner in the summer of 2004. This triggered a by-election that took place on 30 September.

Wright said that while they were good, the songs were not up to the band's potential, and he forced them to start from scratch. Several earlier tracks were reworked for the album, while the bulk of the material was discarded. Some of the demos include "Can't Believe", "Poem to Self", "Sumtimes", "Remain", "Strive", "Free", "Fort", "Like", "Promise", "When", "Transparent", "Contradiction", "Keep Your Head Up", "Not a Quitter", "Fault", "Get Me", "Can You", "Indecisive", "Myself", and "Dreams". This was initially met with resentment from the band, but they ultimately wrote entirely new songs that they felt show greater maturity.
Even as a child, Azula demonstrated her natural talents early in life, along with her tendency for malice and perfectionism. Her sharp wit and the skill she displayed towards Firebending gained her much attention and acclaim, often at Zuko's expense. Even when young, Azula suggests that her father would make a better Fire Lord than the heir apparent, her uncle Iroh, whom she dubbed "a quitter and a loser" for abandoning his siege of the Earth Kingdom's capital Ba Sing Se, which would have secured the Fire Nation's victory in the war, after the death of his son Lu Ten.
In 1999 the record company asked Banks to write a new lead single for Shed Seven's "Greatest Hits" album, Going For Gold. The song, "Disco Down", later became a Top 20 hit, but Banks was becoming increasingly unhappy with the lack of originality in the music he was expected to write and perform. In an interview in 2002, he said: Going For Gold – The Greatest Hits reached number 7 in the UK Albums Chart, but by the time Shed Seven finally left Polydor in 1999,'Polydor: Witter A Bitter Quitter', NME Online, December 1999 Banks had already decided to leave the band.

Santley appeared as Scherasmin. In the autumn, after the Worcester and Norwich festivals, Santley joined the Mapleson company's annual tour, beginning in Dublin. Sims Reeves had joined the company to perform the roles of Edgardo, Huon and Faust (with Tietjens and Trebelli as his partners). After hearing Santley's Valentine, Gounod composed the aria Even bravest heart expressly for him to an original English text by Chorley (now, ironically, better known in French translation as Avant de quitter or in Italian as Dio possente) and this was introduced in London in January 1864 at the opening of the spring session.

In the 2001-02 season, Bradford had high hopes of a return to the top flight following relegation last season but it didn't materialise and on 24 December after an inconsistent run of results, boss Jim Jefferies resigned much to the chairman's fury, who branded Jefferies a "quitter". Chesterfield boss Nicky Law was then installed as their new manager on 1 January on a two-and-a-half year contract and his assistant Ian Banks joined amongst the coaching staff. Results didn't improve too much though and Bradford ended up finishing in a disappointing 15th place.
At the time of Zenk's departure, The Can-Am Connection was in a feud with The Islanders (Haku and Tama); Zenk's departure was worked into the feud, with the Islanders claiming that Zenk was a quitter and abandoned Martel because he knew they could never beat them. In July 1987, Martel defeated both Haku and Tama in singles competition. Tito Santana, who was doing commentary in the Spanish broadcast booth, ran to the ring to help Martel fight off his attackers.
Felix Nasmyth, the first-person narrator, is a young man who, as he tells readers right at the beginning of the book, has "always been a quitter". Without any hopes for the future, he is persuaded by one of his few friends to take part in a "summer camp"—a secluded rural area in Mendocino County, California-and grow marijuana on a large scale. The illegal business venture seems doomed from the start, but for once Nasmyth decides to prove something to himself and follow through. In the end, after many misadventures, the venture is a failure.
Nakamura then hit Steen with a third Boma Ye, which resulted in a three count and a win for the NJPW wrestler. After Nakamura had left the ring, Steen got a microphone and announced that, although he loved ROH, he was thinking about stepping away from the promotion to spend some time with his family. Steen was then interrupted by Silas Young, who claimed he was acting like a "pussy" and that his son would grow up to be a "quitter" like him. This led to Steen attacking Young and security re- entering the ring to break up another brawl.
In this capacity he adapted classic VeggieTales videos into comic book format, and also co-created new Veggie characters for the original comic book story, LarryBoy and the Quitter Critter Squad. Each of these novels features an Atlanta-based private detective team investigating an Edgar Allan Poe-themed mystery.
Earnhardt took the lead on lap 474 from Darrell Waltrip and lead until the finish. If he wrecked Waltrip, it must not have been too bad because he still finished on the lead lap. Ralph Jones (a driver-owner) was the last-place finisher of this race; he was forced to end his participation in the race due to brake issues on lap 31. There were three terminal crashes in the race along with three engine failures, one quitter along with a driver with a water pump issues in his vehicle and a driver with a defective rear end on his vehicle.
Mike advises Jamie to "get down on [his] knees and beg Howard Royale to give him a second chance", and claims that the "Jamie Johnson [he] used to know would never give in, even if there was a 1% chance of making it, because he wasn't a quitter". He refuses to take Jamie to the O2 Arena, instead attending the final training session for Phoenix U16s, and telling Jamie to find a way to get to London himself. Despite this, Jamie commits to the tournament, claiming that his football career is over and gaming is his priority. His dad happily drives him to London.
Reiji Ozora is a chronic quitter who never completes what's assigned or handed to him, but one day Maiko, his closest friend, walks him to a local arcade where the latest game craze is happening: Dragon Drive. After meeting Chibi, a seemingly meek dragon, Reiji wants to make himself and Chibi stronger. To obtain this strength, both are taken to a secret training room in the "D-Zone", the same room Maiko and Daisuke snuck in earlier upon seeing a strange dragon appearing in the sky. The dragon suddenly absorbs them into another Earth known as Rikyu, where they meet Meguru, a girl who was also transported to Rikyu.
In Tucker's interviews with local teens, they believed the number to be much higher; one 18-year-old estimated 10-15% of his peers played the game. A St. Louis area barber said that in his youth the phenomenon was not called "Knockout King" but "One Hitter Quitter". Mike Males of the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice claimed that the media has been cherry-picking related attacks for sensationalism, asserting that "This knockout-game legend is a fake trend." Police at the time believed such attacks might have been under-reported by immigrant victims in communities where relations with law enforcement had been tense.

We should stride ahead and move towards universal suffrage."Wong, Albert (24 June 2010) "Electoral reform row makes one Democrat a quitter, others bitter", South China Morning Post Accountancy FC legislator Paul Chan (Independent) supported the delay, saying the proposals would then win widespread support through better public knowledge.

On January 5, 2015, Lange launched an uncensored subscription-based podcast titled The Artie Quitter Podcast. He records episodes mainly from his home in Hoboken, New Jersey. Lange estimated the podcast gained "about 9,000" subscribers in its first year. In May 2017, Lange stated the podcast would end after 400 episodes in order to tend to his comedy, filming Crashing, and his third book. He aimed to resume the podcast around September 2017, either at a cheaper subscription rate or free with advertisements. In 2015, Lange made a return to television after he secured roles on two shows.

In the 200 m individual medley, Hassan finished fifty- first in 2:09.92, more than two seconds off his entry time. The following day, in the 100 m butterfly, Hassan delivered a worst performance with a fifty- third-place effort on the morning prelims. Swimming in the same heat, he escaped from behind to earn a sixth seed in a time of 56.42. Frustrated and upset, he explained what went wrong from his final event: “I felt like I was moving my arms faster than I had ever done but I wasn’t catching any water. I was so mad, but I’m not a quitter.” Three years later, at the 2003 All-Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria, Hassan won a total of five medals, including his first ever gold in the 100 m butterfly (54.81).
In June 2017, members of the FONAC opposition coalition argued that the National Assembly became illegitimate by continuing to sit beyond 21 June, two years after the extension of the parliamentary term, and that deputies from the opposition should consequently resign. Opposition deputies led by Saleh Kebzabo responded that they would not resign, feeling that it would be more "useful" for them to remain in the National Assembly; however, they also said that the next election should be held promptly, dismissing Déby's view that the delay was necessary due to a lack of funds, and that in the future the government should make every effort to hold elections on time."Tchad : sommés par le front de l’opposition de quitter l’Assemblée, des députés refusent de démissionner", Jeune Afrique, 22 June 2017 .
The Saturn and PlayStation versions met with generally positive reviews. While most critics remarked that the graphics are subpar for their generation, they praised the humorous voice clips and, while noting that the challenge level is extremely high and would be frustrating for some players, they also felt it to be entirely fair and intellectually stimulating. For instance, Dan Hsu of Electronic Gaming Monthly opined that having to start levels over if even one of the Vikings dies is "unforgiving, but necessary", and his co-reviewer Crispin Boyer remarked "the later levels are especially tough, but they're also rewarding if you can figure them out (don't be a quitter!)". Next Generation said the game had retained the original's strong puzzles: "The levels are still nicely designed and have a reasonable learning curve".
When the French justice system determines that a person is in France illegally, an OQTF (obligation de quitter le territoire français) - an order to leave France or be deported to a country of origin - can be issued. This is defined in the CESEDA law (Code de l'entrée et du séjour des étrangers et du droit d'asile). However, many of the camps' inhabitants lack identification and even a legal identity in their countries of origin, as is the case with many people of Eritrean, Ethiopian, and Sudanese nationality. For a person in this situation, an OQTF cannot be issued, either because it is unclear to what country the person should be deported, or because neither their countries of origin nor other countries in the Schengen Area will accept them.

Second album, Au Nom d'une Femme was composed by various famous artists : as for the previous album, Loigerot, Geoffroy and Marc Nacash worked on several songs, and for the first time in Ségara's career, French singer Calogero composed one of her songs, "Au Nom d'une Femme" (afterwards, he also wrote "Regarde"). In France, there were five singles from this album. Kenig left school in 2003 to write. He met Audrey Diwan, a French writer and series editor at Denoël, which published his first novel, Camping Atlantic, in June 2005. The novel deals with teenage violence and boredom, and with the strength of brotherhood, through the story of the protagonist, Adonis. Subsequently, Kenig dedicated himself to theater, writing three plays : Elle t'embrasse, Pas ce soir et Pompéi ou le suspense pornographique, before publishing his second novel, La Pause, in 2006, a work of social fiction that brings the reader to the suburbs of Paris and the industrial plants of carmaker Renault, and features Kenig's introspection and sociological observation. He then turned to other genres and published a pamphletary essay, Quitter la France, in which he analyses what remains of the French identity, a few weeks before Nicolas Sarkozy’s victory at the French presidential election.
In June 2010, Cheng publicly pondered his moral dilemma in supporting the vote in support of the revised electoral reform proposals put forward by the government and backed by the Democratic Party. The proposal draw unprecedented controversy in the pan- democractic camp as the leaders of the Democratic Party had met with and sought approval from the officials of the Central Government Liaison Office. He subsequently decided to vote against the proposals, and announced in his Legco speech that he would quit the party because "small, but critical differences of opinion" prevented him from fulfilling his election pledge to strive for universal suffrage in 2012.Wong, Albert (24 Jun 2010) "Electoral reform row makes one Democrat a quitter, others bitter", South China Morning Post Cheng stood down at the 2012 election, in which he supported several pan- democratic candidates in New Territories East.
In August 2007 the GDL planned to strike after talks failed with Deutsche Bahn, the main German railway operator, over a range of demands from the union. A key disagreement was GDL's wish to represent its members in collective bargaining processes, independently of other unions representing staff in that job category. On 8 August 2007, the labour court in Nuremberg declared that a strike of affected long-distance and goods services would be illegal if carried out before 30 September, claiming it would affect the national economy too severely. Deputy chairperson Norbert Quitter speaking at the closing rally of the demonstration in defense of the right to strike on April 18, 2015, in Frankfurt am Main On 2 November 2007, the labour court in Chemnitz overturned a previous judgement limiting strike action to short-haul routes.
He wrote a considerable number of works against the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, which had a wide circulation, and were translated into several foreign languages. Among them were Quatre raisons pour lesquelles on doit quitter la R. P. R. (Paris, 1631); Quatre raisons qui traitent de l'eucharistie, du purgatoire, du péché originel et de la prédestination (1662), and Le Tombeau de la Messe (Geneva, 1654), a translation of which was issued at London in 1673, with this rather premature title, The Funeral of the Mass, or the Mass Dead and Buried without Hope of Resurrection. The latter book was burned on March 6, 1063, by the public executioner, the author exiled, and the bookseller sentenced to a fine of 1000 livres, the loss of his license, and ten years exile. This last work procured his banishment from France, upon which he withdrew to Geneva.
These included the two paintings cited by Maury, Vue prise dans l'église de Louviers and Ruines des casemates du château Gaillard, the latter described in the catalogue: "As a result of the persecutions he was experiencing, Nicolas Poussin, forced to leave his country, comes to take a last look at his birthplace."Explication des ouvrages de peinture et dessins, sculpture, architecture et gravure des artistes vivans, exposés au Musée Royal des Arts, le 24 Avril 1822, Paris: E. Two years later, at the Paris Salon of 1824, Renoux exhibited nine painting, all of which were purchased before the exhibit closed. L'interieur de l’Église Saint-Etienne-du-Mont à Paris was acquired by the state and installed at the Luxembourg Palace.
With five UK Top 40 entries in 1996, Shed Seven had more hit singles than any other act that year, the high point coming with the release of their seventh single, "Going For Gold", which entered the UK chart at number 8 on 17 March and remains their biggest chart hit to date. A sold-out thirteen-date Autumn tour followed, including their debut at the York Barbican Centre. The definitive band line-up released 3 studio albums - Change Giver (1994), A Maximum High (1996) and Let It Ride (1998) - along with a greatest hits compilation, Going For Gold (1999). The release of the latter was forced upon the band by their record company, Polydor,'Polydor: Witter A Bitter Quitter', NME Online, December 1999 after Let It Ride failed to match the album sales of its predecessor, which sold 250,000 copies in Britain alone.
Will Hermes of Rolling Stone magazine also noted the different musical direction and themes between the two discs on the album. He commented that Elephants is "a hushed mood piece that's all wet vowels and damaged love" and ...Teeth Sinking into Heart is "filled with rock & roll bite and gloves-off verses" while stating that Yamagata had pushes past familiar singer-songwriter fare into bolder regions with the album. In another review on the site LiveDaily, the album is said to "chronicles the perils of heartache and, after time, the subsequent realignment of a love life through a creative two-part album". David Peisner of Spin magazine in his review said that the album "unwinds like a melancholy film score" and added that Yamagata is "more convincing as a moper, but the album's alternately punchy and slinky conclusion is heartening proof that she's no quitter".
In 1902 he performed in two concerts conducted by Henry Wood at the Queen's Hall in London – Wolfram's Tournament Song from Wagner's Tannhäuser, "Blick ich umher" (When I cast my eye around), Act 2, Scene 4 (13 January) and the cavatina from Gounod's Faust, "Avant de quitter ces lieux" (Even bravest heart may swell) Act 2 (31 January). He returned to the USA in 1903 and gave a number of concerts with the Castle Square Opera Company at the Century Theatre in St Louis. It was there on 5 February while staying at the Southern Hotel that he fell from his sixth floor window, and although his fall was broken by telegraph wires opposite the second floor, he never regained consciousness after hitting the ground. It was presumed that he had lost his balance while leaning from the window and so this was considered to have been an accident.
Statue of General Valhubert at Avranches (by Cartelier) Signature In 1805, during the Battle of Austerlitz, which was commanded by Suchet, he had his leg fractured by a shell.
Nicker was the son of Elizabeth and Sam Nicker who arrived at the Arltunga goldfields in the Northern Territory in 1903, after a two-year journey through the centre, by which time the output of gold had already diminished. This disappointed the two and, rather than mine Sam purchased a wagon from a "disgruntled quitter" and delivered water to the miners whilst Elizabeth started a market garden and herded feral goats for milk, meat and useful skins. By 1908, when Nicker was born, the family had moved, a little north of Arltunga, to establish what would become The Garden station which would provide produce, on a larger scale the Elizabeth's market garden, to the Arltunga and Winnecke Depot goldfields. In 1914 they uprooted again when Sam purchased the lease on Ryan's Well, near Aileron, where the family operated a cattle station and supplemented their income by operating the well for travelling stock and operating as a post and telegraph office.
As well as compiling the band's singles from 1994 to 1998, Going For Gold featured newly recorded versions of two previous releases, "Dolphin" and "Ocean Pie", alongside brand new material in "Disco Down" and "High Hopes". "Disco Down" went on to become the last Banks-era hit for the band when issued as the album's lead single, two weeks prior to its release, whereas the follow-up single, "High Hopes", was never issued. Like "Disco Down", the song was initially included in the album's track listing with the intention for it to be issued as a single,'Polydor: Witter A Bitter Quitter', NME Online, December 1999 but was sidelined post-album release by the band's record label in favour of a proposed re-issue of their 1996 single, "Going For Gold". Following the band's refusal to comply, Shed Seven and Polydor Records parted company in late 1999, as "High Hopes" became the only track featured on the compilation which was not a 'hit' single, and Going For Gold became the band's final album release during their time with the label.
