The Kharan Desert is located in Northwest Balochistan. It makes a nature boundary between Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. It is located in Kharan District. The Kharan Desert is a sandiest desert in Pakistan.

The southeast portion is the least forested portion of the island. Half of the portion is marshy, but the southeast portion has the sandiest coastline on the island. There are no buildings nor man-made structures on this portion of the island.

Aticama is a small farming and fishing community located in the state of Nayarit, Mexico. It is situated approximately 90 miles north of Puerto Vallarta and near the town of San Blas on a stretch of coastline known as the Riviera Nayarita. Aticama's beach is known as Playa Matanchen and is one of the widest and sandiest beaches in Mexico. Aticama is an important producer of rock oysters, shrimp, rock lobster, and fish such as mahi mahi and robalo.

Most of the peninsula has been a nature reserve (Parque Natural de Jandía) since 1987.Protected Natural Areas Boletín Oficial de Canarias, pages 9716 and 9851-4 On the south and east coasts of Jandía there are the beach resorts Jandía Playa and Morro Jable. The western coast has some of the most beautiful and sandiest beaches in Fuerteventura and these are also used by surfers. The small fishing village of Cofete and the Villa Winter are situated on the north side of the peninsula.

The work, considered to be among the grandest hydraulic enterprises of the antiquity, was to regulate the flow of the Fucine Lake, feared by local populations due to the violence of its waters. Along its banks, about 30,000 men, among slaves and workmen, strove intent on the manual digging of the swallow-hole. Eleven years later, in 52 AD, the work was brought to an end.. First collateral tunnels were constructed, connected to each other by means of numerous inclined shafts (or wells), which served to prepare the main digging, having completed which, waters drained towards the Liri River. However, there were a lot of unexpected inconveniences and difficulties during the work construction, including several landslides occurring in the most vulnerable and sandiest sections of the belly or the mountain and in the area of the dam, that is the lock made between the Roman basins for the water storage and the mouth of the emissary near the Fucine inlet.. When the works were concluded Claudius, before the opening of the locks, celebrated the work by organizing a naumachia, a naval battle on the lake, with the presence of his wife Agrippina and the young Nero.
