The Stevenson Lane Residence is the newest residence building, accommodates 148 students and offers suite-style living. St. Joseph's Hall offers single rooms for students and features lounges, vending machines, and a recreation room. It also is being renovated in order to hold additional classrooms and offices.

From 1 March 2014 until 11 November 2016, the main ward at Stamford Military Hospital (known as "Baghdad"), along with the operating theatre, nurses' station and the recreation room were recreated to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the start of World War One, along with actors playing the role of characters who worked, lived and recovered at the hospital.

The residence hall was renovated in the summer of 2008. Carmichael is named after Katherine Kennedy Carmichael, the first Dean of Women.

Koury Koury Residence Hall Koury Hall is part of the Manning East Community, located off of Manning Drive and placed near Ehringhaus. It is suite style with interior corridor access and was built in 2002. The coed population consists of 263 residents, including the seven Resident Advisers. Amenities include seminar rooms, study rooms, kitchens, ice machines, a laundry room, a TV room, lounges, a recreation room and vending machines.

Changes at this time included the demolition of outbuildings and the blocking off of cellars. There were further significant changes in the 1960s. In 1961 some of the dormitories were converted to a recreation room and a doctor's room, staffed by honorary medical officers from Sydney Hospital, who visited the Refuge once a week. Mayo Hall, also known as Boys' Dormitory or Men's Dormitory, was a building in Commerce, Texas on the campus of Texas A&M; University-Commerce that was built in 1936 with much of the $115,000 cost coming from the Public Works Administration. The hall housed seventy students and had a cafeteria and recreation room. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003 and removed seven years later. The hall was demolished in February 2008.

The Sunshine Society was run by a group of community volunteers. They constructed the various cottages that still stand today, filled them with local elderly who were charged a nominal sum, and provided entertainment and social activity for them as well. The Engine House is a two-story red brick building with trim of red-orange sandstone and salmon colored brick topped with a high double-pitch hip roof in the front and a lower roof in the rear. In 1935, after employees voted to disband a labor union, 1,000 workers went on strike for 13 weeks. Strikers became violent, attacking workers and detonating a bomb in front of company president Samuel M. Stone's house. The company set up a barracks, dining room, and recreation room for workers within the Colt Armory during the strike. On June 3, 1935 the National Recovery Administration ruled that the company was within its rights not to deal with the union and the strike ended.

Completed in 1901, it was originally built for Winnipeg YMCA. The land had been purchased by YMCA in June 1890. Designed by local architect George Browne, the building cost $88,500 and was officially opened January 18, 1901. Horton is in a suite style layout with interior corridor access. Named after George Moses Horton who was a slave in Chatham County who taught himself how to read and write. In 1879, Andrew Carnegie put plans in place to fund a new library for his birthplace, Dunfermline, Scotland. Building plans were prepared by James Campbell Walker in 1880, and on 27 July 1881 the foundation stone was laid by Carnegie's mother, Margaret Carnegie. The opening of the library in 1883 was regarded as the most significant local event of the year and a public holiday was declared. In February 1996, the survivor-residents moved to the new, official House of Sharing that consists of residential wings, a recreation room, a Buddhist sanctuary, educational and training activities, and the first "Japanese Comfort Women History Museum in Korea," which opened in August 1998. Hinton James Hinton James Residence Hall Hinton James Residence Hall, the only building in the Hinton James Community is another of the ten story high rise residence halls and was built in 1967. It is suite style with balcony access and has a population of about 950 residents with 18 Resident Advisors. The building is coed and contains study rooms, kitchens, ice machines, laundry rooms, a TV room, lounges, a recreation room, a basketball court, and vending machines. The residents are primarily first-years, as the hall is located the furthest from North Campus.

Birch Lodge c 1912 Birch Lodge is situated on 20 acres located along the northern shore of Trout Lake. When it opened, the lodge had cottages, a recreation room, boating equipment, and a dancing pavilion; it also boasted hospital facilities such as an operating room and a linen room. There are currently six structures on the property: the main lodge, three frame utility buildings that were once cabins, and two log cabins. During a Thanksgiving dinner on November 26, 1998, Martin Gurule and six other death row inmates hid in a recreation room. Prior to leaving their cells for the dinner, they had placed cushions and sheets in their beds in such a way that the guards would not suspect anything was amiss. They also darkened their prison uniforms with marker pens so that they would be less visible at night. General Douglas MacArthur was sculpted in 1977 over a period of five months in the French town of La Colle-sur-Loup, west of the city of Nice. The building is clad for the most part in weatherboard, excepting a chamferboard section to the western (front) verandah. It has a corrugated iron watertank and former stove recess to the north-west corner, and timber stairs at each end of the eastern verandah. Sister Margaret Mary Browne from County Cork had been with the Convent in Newcastle (Toodyay) since 1901. She was professed as Sister Alacoque, then, when the Convent was amalgamated with the Victoria Square Convent in Perth, she changed her name to Sister Angela. To help with their extensive building programme the Convent raised funds from the sale of cows and calves, held euchre parties, and organised concerts. Scar village was built between 1920 and 1921, consisting of ten hostels for a total of 640 men, a school, canteen, recreation room, concert hall, mission church and some bungalows. Plans to electrify the railway using hydro-electric power, were considered in March 1920, but rejected as being uneconomic. Cobb Cobb Residence Hall Cobb residence hall, built in 1952 and renovated in 2005, is located on Country Club Rd. Cobb is co-ed and hosts about 400 residents on four floors. Cobb has corridor-style hallways, elevators, stairwells, a kitchen with an ice machine, a TV room, lounges on each floor, vending machines, a recreation room and a laundry room. The building is equipped with smoke detectors, alarms and central air-conditioning. Cobb is host to a Living-Learning Community, Connected Learning Program, which promotes experiential and academic learning with other students from different backgrounds.

The Faculty in Residence (FiRs) are chosen by the students in an interview and discussion process and the faculty are provided budget to hold social events for the undergraduates of the house. Events held by faculty include Super Bowl parties and casual dinners. In both physical size and bedspaces, Avery House is noticeably larger than the other Houses, housing almost twice as many undergraduates as other Houses. Avery House has several facilities, including a dining hall with a large kitchen, a conference room, a piano room (Gary Lorden Recreation Room), a library, a garden, and a basement garage.

In 1942 a further single storey building was added to the rear of the recreation room as an air raid shelter. In the late 1950s the building changed hands again, this time passing to the NHS for use as a new community-based rehabilitation facility for women (later mixed) with learning disabilities. The facility, known as the Stoneygate Hostel, formed part of the Glenfrith group of hospitals along with Stretton Hall hospital. The Hostel was closed by the NHS in the mid-1990s and the building was occupied by the Leicester Montessori Grammar School until it abruptly closed in July 2016.

Although there was a fire sixteen years later, it was rebuilt and remained a popular place for vacationers. The Davis Farm House was another historical place in Brentwood's history, although it was gained by the borough in 1968. The house and grounds became a senior citizens’ recreation center. Much debate was encountered when it was considered being torn down to build a new firehouse and recreation room. Although the house had been considered a historical site by much of the town, it was eventually torn down, and the new fire house was built in place of the senior citizens’ center.

After Bradley Palmer's death in 1946, the land around Willow Dale became what is now Bradley Palmer State Park, while the State of Massachusetts began using the mansion as a civil defense training academy in 1949. The current Academy officially opened its doors in October 1974, though a number of basic classes had been offered at Sheldon Jackson College as far back as 1969, with a two-week basic course offered for new troopers. From 1 September 1944 to 18 November 1946, the airfield was operated by the War Assets Commission to sell surplus military supplies to the local civilian community. From 17 February 1947 to 11 September 1947, the airfield served as Lamesa Municipal Airport, until replaced by the current Lamesa Municipal Airport (8 miles south). Originally, two hangars, three barracks capable of housing 160 students, a medical clinic, mess hall, recreation room, and administrative building, which also served as a control tower for flight operations were on the airfield; one hangar survives, but the entire airfield has been removed and returned to agriculture.

St. Mary's was initially opened by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1863 as a small school for boys and housed 42 students its first year. A separate school for girls was opened on the same site in 1868 and operated by the Sisters of Saint Ann. It operated quite near the Fraser River for nearly two decades, then moved further uphill in 1882 to make room for the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway.St. Mary's Mission School, Fraser River Heritage Park The boys and girls had separate dormitories, with the girl's residence also housing the nuns' quarters, an infirmary, a recreation room and a chapel.

The 1935 Dalby station was smaller than some of the Brisbane stations, with space for two fire appliances and a recreation room on the ground floor and living quarters for the chief officer and his family on the upper floor. Accommodation for firemen was provided in a three bedroom cottage on the site built using materials from the 1920 to 1929 fire station garage. By 1949 it was evident that a larger station was required at Dalby to house a new fire engine, and that more bedrooms were needed in the firemen's quarters. Funding was acquired in stages over the next few years from both government and private sources.

This fine building was constructed in 1893 at a cost of £1,400. This town hall building had a stage, changing rooms, and a kitchen on the ground floor, a reading room, a recreation room and a viewing gallery on the upper floor. Unfortunately the architect did not have a stairway on the drawings, and had to construct a very narrow and winding staircase to reach the upper floor, as a last resort, before the official opening. It is now used by the District Council as a home for the homeless, or as a shelter for single parent families, while waiting for a permanent residence.Kilmaurs.

Mangum Mangum Residence Hall Mangum residence hall, built in 1922, is located on Raleigh St. Mangum is coed and hosts about 90 residents on four floors. Mangum has corridor-style hallways, two stairwells, a TV room/lounge, a kitchen with an ice machine, vending machines and a recreation room. The building is equipped with smoke detectors, alarms, a sprinkler system, and central air-conditioning. Mangum is named after Willie Person Mangum and his cousin, Adolphus Williamson Mangum. Willie Mangum (1792–1861) an 1815 graduate of UNC, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1823–1826 and the Senate during 1831-1837 and 1844-1853.

Gross; Altman (1993): p. 161 Rob Bowman was originally scheduled to direct the episode, but following problems with "Datalore" the filming order was switched, so Joe Scanlan directed "The Big Goodbye" instead. Scanlan and Tormé recommended filming the holodeck sequences in black and white, but Rick Berman and Bob Justman disagreed with the idea. "The Big Goodbye" was the first episode based on the holodeck in the Star Trek franchise, although The Animated Series episode "The Practical Joker" was notable for showcasing an early prototype for holodeck technology by way of a 'recreation room' when it came out fourteen years before the TNG episode in 1974.

Built in a style which has been described as Queen Anne Revival, Arts and Crafts, and Edwardian, this red brick house contains 12 rooms and 3 bathrooms. The front of the house is profiled by a grand L-shaped, wrap-around verandah with stylized Doric columns. A large attached coach house was converted to accommodate automobiles and has a recreation room above. Significant interior features include the centre hall plan, a vestibule door and sidelights with bevelled leaded glass, a large leaded art glass window which lights the landing of the main staircase, two sunrooms, panelled doors and wainscotting, strip hardwood flooring and radiators.

Veterans Aid was established in 1932 (designated originally as EFC – The Embankment Fellowship Centre) as a direct response to the homelessness caused by poverty and unemployment among the ex-service community in London. It was founded by Mrs Gwendoline Huggins, whose husband was Adjutant of The Royal Hospital Chelsea from 1932–35. Deeply moved by the sight of men who had served their country sleeping on the capital’s streets and along the Thames Embankment, she decided to do something practical to remedy it. This led to the opening in January 1932 of H10, a canteen and recreation room for destitute ex-services personnel in Lambeth, South London.

After the National Socialists' "seizure of power", the SA's Maschinenhaus I, which belonged to the water tower, served as a "wild concentration camp" in spring 1933, in which Communists, Socialists, Jews and other persons unwelcome to the new rulers were interned and murdered without a court ruling. A memorial wall on the grounds of the water tower has commemorated these crimes since 1981. From June 1933, the KL was converted into the "SA-Heim Wasserturm". Engine House I, built in 1877 and measuring around 1000 m², served the SA members as a dining and recreation room, while Engine House II served as a dormitory.

This suggests he was doing very well indeed – they were (and some remain) grand houses overlooking Victoria Park at the southern end of New Walk. However, by 1889 he had moved to 61 Evington Rd – still nice houses but nothing like as grand and Granville Rd. He remained in Evington Rd until the late 1890s – in 1899 he was living at a property was called 'Campsie', 11 Alexandra Road in Stoneygate. By the 1930s No. 58 Stoneygate Road had become 'The Home School' and some alterations were made including the addition of the single storey recreation room adjoining No.60 and the conversion of part of the outbuildings to a chapel.

The project was completed in 1940. It became, as one scholar describes it, “a machine for living,” especially for healthy, comfortable living. Its sunlit rooms, outdoor terraces and indoor pool provided a warm and friendly environment in which to raise a young family. In addition to its advanced architecture and furnishings, the home incorporated an integral system for cleaning air, an innovative internal phone and light signal system, built-in projection equipment to turn the recreation room into a movie theater, lightning rod systems made of Robert Frank's Copperweld, and a heating and cooling system that used the water from the indoor swimming pool for thermal management and energy conservation.

The encampment is composed of fifteen huts, or what can more suitably be described as temporary wooden buildings. The only building aside from Holy Cross Hall constructed from scratch was the Nicholas Isaak Student Center which housed a large recreation room as well as student activities and government offices. In later years, the college would purchase a former motel situated about a mile and a half away to serve as additional dormitory space. At the time of its closing, Notre Dame had 22 buildings located throughout North Manchester with a residence hall capacity for approximately 250 students. Beginning in the 1970s, Notre Dame adopted a policy of partial coeducation by admitting men into its master's degree programs, its evening and weekend undergraduate programs, and as non-resident undergraduate day students.

YMCA Cheung Sha Wan Center is located at Cheung Sha Wan. It was put into service in December 1998. The facilities in Cheung Sha Wan sponsored by the YMCA of Hong Kong. The main service targets are children and young people, parents, the elderly, new immigrants in Hong Kong, people in need, South Asian and low-income families in Sham Shui Po. The Centre has a computer resource centre, a multi-purpose computer training room, a home and home helper training room, a hotel room staff training room, a vocational skills training and testing centre, a dance and recreation room, a classroom and multi-purpose activity room, an auditorium and counselling and parent-child park.

The Redcliffe Fire Station's interior layout demonstrates the principal characteristics of a fire station of the period, which include: accommodation on the first floor for the Chief Officer; a central appliance garage on the ground floor, flanked by a dormitory, recreation room, watch room, showers, toilet, laundry and kitchen; a hose drying tower; an outdoor rear area for vehicle maintenance and cleaning; and close access to a main street. This ground floor plan is substantially intact, and resembles that of the two-storey timber fire stations built in Brisbane in the 1930s. The first floor of the original hose drying tower still remains, and the first floor Chief Officer's residence remains in near-original condition.

Morrison Morrison Residence Hall Morrison Hall was built in 1965 but was renovated in the summer of 2006. It is the most modern of the high-rise residence halls featuring a main lobby lounge with pub chairs and internet connectivity, a recreation room with billiards tables, ping pong tables and a widescreen TV, kitchens, ice machines, lounges and smaller study rooms for groups, vending machines, a lighted basketball court, picnic tables and charcoal grills and a laundry room. Morrison is also host to a Package Center as well as the Sustainability Living-Learning Community. As a part of the program Morrison has solar panels for heating and air and a compost pile outside.

The original Battersea garage was opened in 1906 by the London Roadcar Company on the north side of Hester Road, but by 1914 more space was needed and an annexe was built on the south side. Two modernisation schemes were undertaken, first in the 1960s to allow for AEC Routemasters to be allocated and again in 1971 when a new canteen and recreation room was built. The garage closed in 1985 with its allocation being split between Victoria and Wandsworth garages. Battersea was however given a reprieve some time later when it was used to house the London Buses coaches and sightseeing operations until 1988 when the entire operation moved to Wandsworth garage.

The new court house addressed Victoria Street where the first police lock-up had been and thus provided the main street with an imposing public building. The old court house became a police station after the court moved to its new premises effecting a reversal of zones of usage across the complex. It underwent additions and modifications for this purpose in 1940–1941, which extended the rear and created an upper level to part of the building to provide accommodation and a recreation room. Plans were drawn in 1961 for a new cell block and facilities by Architect in Association Colin Tesch and the new watch house was constructed in 1962–1963 at a cost of .

At this time the property consisted of the main house, kitchen block, stables and a bush house. The 1919 alterations were extensive. The main house initially served both hostel and administrative functions, with the former drawing room being converted into a ward, the dining room retaining its original function and the bedrooms occupied as nurses room, matron's room, etc. A study and a bedroom at the western end of the house were combined by the removal of a wall to create a recreation room. The attic level, which in 1919 was a single open space, was partitioned into bedrooms for nurses and a box room, with the landing retained as a common room.

However, the conditions at the prison worsened through the years, and the facility would be ranked on the United States Department of Justice's Top Ten Most Violent Correctional Facilities list. One of the more infamous locations in the prison, with instances of gambling, fighting, and raping, was a recreation room known as "The Sugar Shack". A notable inmate in the early 20th century was labor activist Eugene V. Debs, who served time here from April 13 to June 14, 1919 (at which time he was transferred to an Atlanta prison) on charges of violating the Espionage Act of 1917. In 1929, the state decided to double the size of the penitentiary because overcrowding was a problem.

This open space was pivotal to the planning of the hospital facility as it functioned to separate different categories of patient. Patients whose behaviour and chances of recovery were low were accommodated in the buildings on the western part of the site and those who were likely to be successfully rehabilitated lived in the eastern part of the site. Recreation room The group of buildings located in the area were constructed between 1927 and 1931. The wards and the Recreation Hall were built in an arc along the highest part of a ridgeline and take full advantage of the therapeutic views to the east over the playing fields and landscaped parklike gardens to the south east of the site.

It was opened in April 1939 by Acting Minister for Health Athol Richardson and named "Elouera" for the 'native name' for the Illawarra. The building had 69 rooms, with a separate room for every member of the nursing staff, spacious balconies, a spacious recreation room and "all necessary sitting rooms, studies, etc." It had been first announced in February 1937, with construction starting in November that year; while completed at its 1939 opening, it was still not furnished at that time. It was built by contractors Hogden Bros at a cost of approximately £22,000, financed on a 50-50 arrangement between the state government and hospital, which took out a loan to cover the cost.

The site selected commanded the passageway from Cairns Harbour to the open sea, and was of high strategic value. Initially, H Battery was accommodated in tents near a small freshwater stream emptying into Sunny Bay, about south of the gun emplacements, while camp buildings were erected there by the local Civil Construction Corps. Constructed mostly of timber from Johnson's sawmill at Stratford, on the outskirts of Cairns, these buildings were of a standard rectangular design measuring . They included: 7 barrack rooms, officers' quarters, sergeants' quarters (each of these having separate ablution blocks and latrines), battery office, quarter master's store, officers' mess and kitchen, gunners' mess and kitchen, canteen and recreation room, and a small battery charging room to supply the camp with electricity.

The sole survivor of these is the 1927 Albion Fire Station, which along with a station at South Brisbane was a part of the network rationalisations undertaken after 1921 by the Metropolitan Fire Brigades Board. During the interwar years a number of two-storey fire stations were also built in Brisbane of timber and fibro, including: an upgrade to the Ithaca Fire Station in 1928; a new Yeronga Fire Station in 1934; then three to the same plan: Coorparoo Fire Station in 1935, Nundah Fire Station in 1936 and Wynnum Fire Station in 1938. Generally the layout of all these structures provided accommodation for fire appliances on the ground floor, and a recreation room, kitchen, bathroom and dormitory space, and accommodation for officers and their families on the first floor.

Connor has corridor-style hallways, multiple stairwells, an elevator, a kitchen with an ice machine, a TV room, lounges, a recreation room, and vending machines. The building is equipped with smoke detectors, alarms, and window air-conditioning units. Connor residence hall is named after Robert Digges Wimberly Connor (1878–1950), an 1899 UNC graduate. He organized the state's first historical archives and headed it from 1907 to 1920. Connor was appointed to the university's board of trustees in 1913 and became a close associate of President Edward Kidder Graham. He joined the university's history faculty in 1921 as a Kenan professor. In 1934, President Franklin Roosevelt appointed him as the first head of the national archives. In 1941, he returned to UNC to teach; he retired in 1949.

83 Refurbished in 2006 The building was then converted by local benefactor Colonel Ricardo into the "King's Hall", a reading and recreation room for village residents, and continued as such until the Second World War, after which it was used for various activities, including a life drawing class suggested by Stanley Spencer. After Spencer's death in 1959 Faith Gibbon, a young artist whom he had befriended, was using the former chapel as a studio. She invited the steering committee of the newly founded Stanley Spencer Memorial Trust to visit her, at which point it was decided that the perfect venue for The Stanley Spencer Gallery had been found. A simple conversion took place; the side windows were blocked in to allow more hanging space and a new floor, doors and lights were installed.

The Russell Room contains a portrait or Russell, a fireplace, stained glass fanlight, decorative moldings, and other elements. In 2007, the recreation room on the ground floor of the union was renovated and by resolution of the Pitt Student Government Board in December 2007, was named "Nordy's Place" in honor of Chancellor Mark Nordenberg who the board resolved was a student favorite and worthy of the honor. Gigs Game Center, outfitted with videogame hardware and software, is also located on the lower level. In 2009, renovations to the second floor improved the accommodations of the student careers center and renovations to the fifth floor were completed to provide six new meeting spaces for student organizations, four of which with hard- surface flooring enabling groups to practice dance routines and other activities.

In 1922 Francis Joseph Reitz pledged one million dollars for the school to be built, for which he was presented with the insignia of Knight and Knight Commander of the Order of Pius IX. The original, main building was built three stories high of Ohio gray brick and elaborate trimmings of Indiana limestone with a Tudor- Gothic design. On New Year’s Day, 1925, Reitz Memorial High School, with its 18 classrooms, auditorium that was used as a gymnasium as well, cafeteria, library, candy store, parlor, and large recreation room, was dedicated by Bishop Chartrand of Indianapolis. Classes began on January 5, 1925 with the Brothers of The Holy Cross from Notre Dame University teaching the boys and the Sisters of Providence teaching the girls, each on separate floors. In 1969, a new addition was completed.

Sergeant Major Seong-gyu Noh, along with a friend in the army, are paying their last respects to Noh's wife. Later, in their car, Noh’s friend informs him of an assignment that the military has ordered him to do: head to Guard Post 506 to investigate a strange incident there. At 21:07, Noh arrives at GP 506 about an hour later. On the way to the office, he passes a boiler room that has words written in blood on the wall, which says: “Kill all of them.” He is brought to the recreation room where the bodies were found, and watches in shock at the amount of blood splattered around the room. In the present, Noh checks the guard post’s records and notices that someone has been controlling the weapons lately.

Originally located on the 800 block of Potomac Avenue SE, the Receiving Home moved several times over the next two decades. The agency generally leased former homes, office buildings, or warehouses for use, renovating them as needed, but the city recognized that such efforts were only temporary and that a custom-built structure, with good security as well as treatment facilities, was needed for children assigned temporarily to the Receiving Home. After extensive debate among city officials and members of Congress, the D.C. Receiving Home for Children was opened in January 1949 at 1000 Mt. Olivet Road NE. Although $335,000 ($ in dollars) was spent constructing the facility, the cost of the Receiving Home proved much greater than the amount budgeted and the facility was only partially completed. As built, the two-story, three-wing structure contained a kitchen, several serving pantries, laundry room, recreation room, and medical treatment room.

The camp comprised four former hotels and boarding houses: the Alexander (later renamed the Continental) and Metropole Hotels, the Waverley and Dodsworth’s. The Metropole Hotel had on its ground floor a canteen, a general store, a billiard room, a hall, a library, and a dining room, (which also acted as a recreation room outside of mealtimes). In the basement was a bakery, the parcel post office and the kitchen. On the ground floor of the Alexander Hotel was the camp office, the assembly room, and a large dining room. In the basement were kitchens (where internees were permitted to do private cooking), a music room with a piano, correction room (for use by the internees’ “House Council” when they did not wish to report lighter misdeeds to the military authorities), and a room used as the church (where Mass was offered and confessions heard by internee priests).

Architectural perspective from Quay Street of the 1958 court house In 1958 a new larger modern Court House was constructed in Quay Street, adjacent to the 1900 Police Station building and facing Anzac Park situated on the banks of the Burnett River. At this time the original court house was remodelled to accommodate the Police Service. The major alteration to the building was the reorganisation of the court room space to provide four new offices and the addition of a recreation room and other amenities at the rear of the building. Various out buildings including wash houses, toilets, motor garages, horse stables and bicycle sheds were also located on the site at this time. The aggregate police site included the 1882–1884 Court House, and the 1900 Police Station, lock up keepers residence, the cell block, providing a range of official and residential accommodation for the police service.

In 1890 a brick Headquarters station was built on the corner of Ann Street and Edwards Street, and this was replaced in 1908 with a Headquarters at the corner of Ann Street and Wharf Street. The Fire Brigades Act Amendment Act 1902 allowed local authorities to establish their own volunteer fire brigades, and the Fire Brigades Act 1920 amalgamated the suburban brigades with the central brigade, thereby creating the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) in 1921. The MFB operated eight fire stations in 1927, out of the 38 in Queensland. Sandgate built its own station in 1924, and joined the MFB in 1928. By 1949 the MFB operated 14 stations; 11 of these were built of timber, with five of the timber stations being two-storey. Each of Brisbane's three operational brick fire stations in 1949, Headquarters (1908), Woolloongabba fire station (1927), and Albion Fire Station (1927), had two or more floors. In 1941, Hamilton had received a two-storey timber fire station that was modelled on the Coorparoo Fire Station (1935), which had also been the model for Nundah Fire Station (1936) and Wynnum Fire Station (1938). The usual layout of these two-storey timber stations included a central appliance garage on the ground floor, flanked by a recreation room, kitchen, watch room, showers, toilet, laundry, and dormitory.
