The Medico of Painted Springs (also known as Doctor's Alibi) is a 1941 American western film produced by Columbia Pictures. Based on the novel of the same name by James Lyon Rubel, the film stars Charles Starrett, Terry Walker, Ben Taggart, Wheeler Oakman, and the Simp-Phonies in a cameo appearance. It was directed by Lambert Hillyer and written by Wyndham Gittens and Winston Miller. In the film, Starrett's character, Dr. Steven Monroe, travels to a tumultuous Painted Springs and attempts to resolve a raging conflict between two camps – the cattlemen and the sheep ranchers.

As the assistant secretary in charge of appointments, McIntyre worked with Edwin M. Watson (Pa), FDR's military aide who ran his general appointments schedule. It was a challenge because FDR liked to set meetings at 15 minute intervals and often ran behind as visitors waited. McIntyre was described as soft-spoken, gentle, and agreeable. Watson, who also was soft-spoken, was said to have a "bubbling good nature," but also was said to be devastingly astute at detecting phonies. The film is most critical in its portrayal of the Mafia. According to Bakshi, "I was incensed at all the hero worship of those guys in The Godfather; Pacino and Caan did such a great job of making you like them. [...] One thing that stunned me about The Godfather movie: here's a mother who gives birth to children, and her husband essentially gets all her sons killed.

It is evident as one of the few tracks on the album to showcase the vocal harmonies and their range unlike on the others where the Airplane focuses on the complexity of their instrumentals. The first single which was released prior to the album, "Greasy Heart" continues on a similar direction to the social commentary of "Ice Cream Phoenix", except in this instance the only vocals predominant are Slick's. Slick's lead performance is considered her best since the top ten hit "Somebody to Love". A piece about pretentious phonies and heavy use of makeup to hide one's true self, Slick actually states the track reflects herself.

At the height of his career in the late 1980s, Chase earned around US$7 million per film and was a highly visible celebrity. He appeared alongside Paul Simon, one of his best friends, in Simon's 1986 second video for "You Can Call Me Al", in which he lip-syncs all of Simon's lyrics. Chase hosted the Academy Awards in 1987 and 1988, opening the telecast in 1988 with the quip, "Good evening, Hollywood phonies!" Chase filmed a sequel to Vacation, 1985's National Lampoon's European Vacation and then a third, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, in 1989, which, thanks to its holiday theme, has become one of his more durable films, airing on NBC every December.

As a result, Bernds feared that his directing days would be over as soon as they began if he released A Bird in the Head with a weak Curly as his first entry. Producer Hugh McCollum reshuffled the release order, and the superior Micro-Phonies (1945) was released first, securing Bernds's directing position. Bernds struggled through three additional films, all released in 1946, (The Three Troubledoers, Monkey Businessmen and Three Little Pirates, with Curly in varying stages of decline) until the comedian suffered a debilitating stroke that ended his career. When Shemp Howard replaced his brother Curly as the third Stooge, it breathed new life into the Stooges' films, and allowed Bernds to add new flair and wit to the team's antics.

A promotional video was made using clips from various Three Stooges short films. The video was regularly shown on the Diamond Vision screen of the New York Mets at Shea Stadium in the mid-1980s, and became part of the fan experience. Additionally, it was included as a bonus feature on one of the 1984 Stooges compilation videos released by RCA Columbia Pictures Home Video. Again, Kato dominated the early rounds and threw Hélio several times, even tossing him out of the ring at one point. After half an hour of fighting, Kato decided to take the bout to the ground and attempted to choke Gracie with juji-jime, which caused them to become entangled with the ring ropes when Hélio tried to counter with his own. At that moment, Kato froze in the belief the referee would stop the action to disentangle them and drag them away from the ropes, but it didn't happen, which allowed Hélio to lock his choke during Kato's mistake. Although Kato, whom the ropes impeded from repositioning, tried to counter it by resuming his hold, he lost consciousness, forcing Kimura to throw the towel. While newspapers immediately questioned Hélio’s victory, with Diário de Notícias pointing out the illegality of his action, the loss still affected the troupe's reputation among the Japanese population of Brazil, who now saw them as phonies.
