Flappers did away with corsets and pantaloons in favor of "step- in" panties. Without the old restrictive corsets, flappers wore simple bust bodices to restrain their chest when dancing. They also wore new, softer and suppler corsets that reached to their hips, smoothing the whole frame, giving women a straight up and down appearance as opposed to the old corsets that slenderized the waist and accented the hips and bust. The lack of curves of a corset promoted a boyish look.

Baron Henri Beyens, wearing Belgian diplomatic uniform (2011) Diplomatic uniforms generally followed 19th century court fashion and usually included a tailcoat with standing collar, breeches or pantaloons, a sword and a two- cornered plumed hat ("bicorne"). On 27 November 1809 the Englishman's valuable fur coat – worth 200 or 300 Prussian thalers – was discovered hidden in an outhouse owned by a family named Schmidt. Then, on 16 December, two old women out scavenging in the woods near Quitzow, three miles north of Perleberg, came across Bathurst's pantaloons. Investigation quickly revealed that one August Schmidt had been working as hostler in the courtyard of the White Swan on the night Bathurst disappeared, and that his mother, who also worked at the inn, had taken the Englishman's coat.

The zouave uniform of the 146th This regiment at first wore the regular dark blue New York state jacket, light blue trousers, and dark blue forage cap, but when the veterans from 5th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment, a famous Zouave unit, were transferred to the 146th New York, the regiment switched over to the colorful Zouave dress on 3 June 1863 at Falmouth, Va. The new uniform was not actually Zouave, but rather the colorful dress of the French-Turco style. Its most distinctive features were a sky blue zouave jacket with yellow trimming, a red fez with a yellow tassel, sky blue zouave pantaloons, and a red sash.
As 'Carabiniers' from 1887 the regiment adopted a Dragoon style of uniform, with a blue tunic faced in blue, though the facings were later changed to white, resembling the uniform of the Carabiniers (6th Dragoon Guards) of the Regular Army. The white metal Dragoon helmet carried a white horsehair plume, the blue pantaloons or overalls carried a white stripe, and the shopulder-belt was white leather.Ryan. Maj Roy Wilson, 'The Yeomanry Cavalry', Military Modelling, Vol 16, No 2, (February 1986). The guidon bore crossed carbines in saltire, with white roses in the first and fourth corners and red roses in the second and third corners.
This regiment was assembled at Inverness in October, 1794, and embodied by Lieutenant-general Sir Hector Munro. The corps attracted particular notice from the majestic stature of the officers, nineteen of whom averaged in height. The uniform of the regiment was a bonnet and feathers, with a plaid thrown across the shoulders, and tartan pantaloons in imitation of the trews,Trews or britches were the customary garb in Caithness when the rest of the Highlands were dressing in kilts . surmounted with a stripe of yellow along the seams, a fringe of tartan on the outside of the thigh, and the same round the ankle.
Their uniform was patterned after French infantry known as chasseurs. Companies A and B however, wore a uniform modeled on the Zouaves. It consisted of a dark blue Zouave jacket with yellow trimming, a dark blue Zouave vest with yellow trimming, a sky blue sash, a red Zouave cap fez with a yellow tassel, red pantaloons with yellow trimming, deerskin jambières, and white gaiters made from canvas or drill (fabric). The uniforms of these two Zouave companies were directly patterned after those worn by the Imperial Zouaves of France, being closer to the originals than any other Zouave style uniform worn by American Zouaves in the Civil War.
Annette Marie Sarah Kellerman (6 July 1886 – 6 November 1975) was an Australian professional swimmer, vaudeville star, film actress and writer. She was one of the first women to wear a one-piece bathing costume, instead of the then-accepted pantaloons, and inspired others to follow her example.Reader's Digest Services, "Record- breaking swimmers", Australia's Yesterdays: a Look at Our Recent Past, 2nd edition, 1974 p.193 In 1902, Kellerman decided to take her swimming seriously and subsequently won the ladies' 100 yards and mile championships of New South Wales in the record times of 1 minute, 22 seconds and 33 minutes, 49 seconds respectively.
It became increasingly popular from around the late 1790s and was particularly widespread during the British Regency, and in America in the 1830s to 1850s. The eighteenth-century dress coat was supplanted in the 1850s as formal day wear by the frock coat, which was in turn replaced in the twentieth century by the morning coat. In the Regency period, the dress coat with gilt buttons was always worn with non-matching trousers, pantaloons or breeches. Since the Victorian era, the modern dress coat for evening wear has been worn with matching trousers of the same cloth with two stripes of braiding down the side.
An advocate of Victorian dress reform, Elizabeth Smith Miller first wore the Turkish pantaloons and knee length skirt later popularized by Amelia Bloomer in The Lily. The apparel and its undergarment was similar to utilitarian outfits also worn by women of the utopian Oneida Community and the Oneida Nation's women. Dress reform was seen as essential in liberating women from the functional constraints imposed on their activities by conventions reinforcing a male dominated society. "Bloomers" were worn by leaders of the women's rights movement as an act of rebellion until the amount of attention the protest received in the popular press became a distraction from the movement.
Ragini Dwivedi (born 24 May 1990) is an Indian film actress and model who works primarily in Kannada films. As a model, she was the runner-up of the 2008 Femina Miss India South contest and won the Richfeel Femina Miss Beautiful Hair award at the 2009 Pantaloons Femina Miss India contest. She made her entry to filmdom with Veera Madakari (2009) which won her the Suvarna Film Award for Best Debut Actress. She rose to fame starring in successful Kannada language films, Kempe Gowda (2011), Shiva (2012), Bangari (2013) and Ragini IPS (2014), thus establishing herself as one of the leading actresses in Kannada cinema.
By General Order of 23 August 1856, Pursers were required to wear the uniform of their relative rank with the exception of the lace on the pantaloons; their corps device on epaulets, shoulder straps and cap remaining the same. As late as 1862 uniform regulations did not distinguish among the different staff corps. In January 1864 the various corps were again assigned distinguishing marks, with the Pay Corps insignia being a silver oak sprig worn on the shoulder straps and in the wreath of the cap. In regulations of 1905, while the insignia of the Pay Corps remained "a silver oak sprig", the pattern was a little different.
Her first theater performance was in the fourth grade and later that year the drama was chosen to be aired by DD1, one of India's largest broadcasting networks. Growing up she had a huge passion for exploring different places and cultures which made an impact on her life from an early age. She eventually pursued her Bachelor of Business Administration degree at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, where she won a handful of fashion and beauty contests sponsored by well known brands such as MTV, Cavin Kare, Westside and Pantaloons. While in college she also worked as a host for several corporate award shows and women empowerment workshops.
The vest is generally dark in color with a golden trim embroidered along the edges, and the apron is made of wool, dyed usually red, black, or dark green with minimal designs. If no apron is worn, than the dress may consist of special embroidery and crocheted lace, and pantaloons (gače) are worn with white, knee-length stockings (čarape). The sash (tkanica) worn around the waist is black with green and gold wool handwoven within. The headscarf can be a kerchief (krpa) with various geometric designs and/or floral embroidery, or more elaborate kind (čember) with a crocheted edge with a wide band of multi-colored geometric embroidery on one side and half of opposite side.
Milton Abbey: History Tregonwell fell from the roof of the church in a childhood accident, but his life was saved when his wide pantaloons filled with air and broke his fall. In thanks, he bequeathed his library to the church. Sir John also was buried in an altar tomb in the Abbey Church. In 1752, the buildings were bought by the Damer family: in 1771, to make way for a new house and landscaped estate, the 1st Baron Milton (later 1st Earl of Dorchester) demolished the remaining abbey buildings, keeping only part of the church as a private chapel, and the adjacent market town of Milton (creating Milton Abbas to rehouse the former inhabitants) in 1780.
His battle- scarred body is sporadically covered by leather armor; loose pantaloons and leather boots give him the agility he needs in battle. He is one-eyed and covers the other eye with an eye patch. Reflecting on his design work for the character, Casper notes that he always had an image of the Iron Bull "grabbing his sword by the hilt with his good hand, smashing it down on an enemy still in the sheath, the sword sheath and all cutting half way down the guy then Iron Bull using that to pull the sword out of the sheath and fight on". One iteration even had the Iron Bull's hand outfitted with a cannon prosthesis.
A Model (Nude Self-Portrait), 1915–16, oil on canvas Spring Sale at Bendel's, 1920, oil on canvas During her twenties and thirties, Stettheimer engaged in flirtations and romantic relationships, and her paintings, diaries, and poems reveal her admiration for the male anatomy. However, they also demonstrate that she adamantly opposed the idea of marriage, believing like many feminists that it constricted women's freedom and interfered with creativity. She wore white pantaloons, which at the time were only worn by feminists and suffragettes and also provided freedom for working on larger canvases. During her years in Europe, Stettheimer and her sisters sought out theatrical productions that featured feminist themes and women performers.
For important ceremonial occasions, mounted policemen wear the full-dress red uniform (unique to the mounted division), which is a red tunic, black pantaloons, with a gold cross belt and a black custodian helmet. On a lesser ceremonial occasion they may wear full-dress mounted white uniform (unique to the mounted division), which includes white tunic; trousers; medals; with gazetted officers' uniforms adorned with black epaulettes with rank insignia, a black leather cross belt with the lion head badge with whistle and chain, police badge affixed black leather pouch and sword with a white coloured pith helmet. White gauntlets gloves are worn. Gazetted officers carry swords drawn, while sergeants and constables carry lances with a police pennant.
The ringed plover is described as having "eye-masking and 'obliterative' shadow-and-hole-picturing pattern". Chapter 15 describes the leg feather patterns of hawks, asserting that these "pantaloons" mask these "dangerous talons" to facilitate attack, just as their beaks, like the beaks of wading birds, are masked paradoxically with "gaudy colors". Chapter 16 controversially claims that the iridescent colours of, for example, the speculum wing patch of the mallard and other ducks is "obliterative", the "brightly changeable plumage" serving to camouflage the wearer in varying conditions. Thayer asserts that such brightly colored species as the European kingfisher and the purple gallinule are camouflaged: Chapter 17 argues that bird plumage has "many devices" to conceal the animals' outlines.
New fully black-coloured justaucorps styles emerged around the Age of Revolution, notably adopted by the bourgeois third estate of the Estates General of the Kingdom of France. Increasingly following the French Revolution, high society men abandoned the richly decorated justaucorps coats for more austere cutaway dress coats in dark colours, with cuts perhaps further inspired by the frocks and riding coats of country gentlemen. Gradually replacing also breeches, lacy dress shirts and jabots with plain white dress shirts, shorter waistcoats, white cravats and pantaloons, this became known as directoire style. By the early 19th-century Regency era, dark dress tailcoats with light trousers became standard daywear, while black and white became the standard colours for evening wear.
"Kate Greenaway" children, all of them girls and boys too young to be put in trousers, were dressed in her own versions of late 18th century and Regency fashions: smock-frocks and skeleton suits for boys, high-waisted pinafores and dresses with mobcaps and straw bonnets for girls. The influence of children's clothes in portraits by British painter John Hoppner (1758–1810) may have provided her some inspiration. Liberty of London adapted Kate Greenaway's drawings as designs for actual children's clothes. A full generation of mothers in the liberal-minded "artistic" British circles who called themselves The Souls and embraced the Arts and Crafts movement dressed their daughters in Kate Greenaway pantaloons and bonnets in the 1880s and 1890s.
LaterThe Times reported his appearance at the Cheltenham Theatre in August 1810, although it referred to his earlier appearance at Bath, in the role of Romeo:'A Stage-Struck Hero': The Times(London, England),1 September 1810; p. 3 he appeared in Romeo and Juliet in the part of Romeo – in a costume of his own design. The costume had a flowing, sky-blue cloak with sequins, red pantaloons, a vest of white muslin, a large cravat, and a plumed "opera hat," according to Captain Rees Howell Gronow – not to mention dozens of diamonds – which was hardly suitable for the part. The Times referred to a costume of ‘rose-coloured silks, silver tissue, nodding plumes and a profusion of jewellery’.
Richard Henry Dana Jr. in Two Years Before the Mast said of him: :He had a slight and elegant figure, moved gracefully, danced and waltzed beautifully, spoke the best of Castilian, with a pleasant and refined voice and accent, and had throughout the bearing of a man of high birth and figure. Seeing him again one evening, Dana said he :gave us the most graceful dancing that I had ever seen. He was dressed in white pantaloons, neatly made, a short jacket of dark silk gaily figured, white stockings and thin Morocco slippers upon his very small feet. His lifestyle and hospitality often got him into trouble financially, requiring his children to bail him out in later years.
Parissien, p. 112 He wore darker colours than had been previously fashionable as they helped to disguise his size, favoured pantaloons and trousers over knee breeches because they were looser, and popularised a high collar with neck cloth because it hid his double chin.Parissien, p. 114 His visit to Scotland in 1822 led to the revival, if not the creation, of Scottish tartan dress as it is known today.Parissien, pp. 324–326 During the political crisis caused by Catholic emancipation, the Duke of Wellington said that George was "the worst man he ever fell in with his whole life, the most selfish, the most false, the most ill-natured, the most entirely without one redeeming quality".
The issue, with Chopra on its cover, contained 40 pages of interviews with the actress, Mansukhani and Johar, fashion shoots on the sets, clothing by its designers and fashion and beauty articles based on the film. Although Maybelline products were not used for Chopra's make-up, the company promoted Chopra's appearance with behind-the- scenes footage in their television and print advertisements and invited its customers to mirror the actress. The producers collaborated with Facebook, which featured advertisements with each of the three lead actors urging users to form their own group. Pantaloons partnered with the film to showcase its apparel in 43 outlets across India. Made on a production and marketing budget 450-million budget, Dostana was released on 14 November 2008.
With his athletic personality, and fresh appeal, the actor bagged modelling assignments to walk the ramp for Pantaloons Fashion Brand, Shopper's Stop mall, and Balaji Telefilms. However, in some cases the Risser cast would extend into one or more pantaloons, in which case mobility was far more restricted. Aside from the above common forms, body casts could come in nearly any size and configuration. For example, from the 1910s to the 1970s, use of a turnbuckle cast, which used metal turnbuckles to twist two halves of the cast so as to forcibly straighten the spine before surgery, was common. The turnbuckle cast had no single configuration, and could be as small as a body jacket split in half, or could include the head, one or both legs to the knees or feet, and/or one arm to the elbow or wrist depending on the choice of the doctor.
The Albert Saloon (1843–1853) was a theatre based at Britannia Fields in the East End of London, England. It was also known as the Royal Albert Saloon, and the Royal Standard Tavern. Built of wood, the theatre was set in a garden and could be used both as an outdoor and indoor venue, as it had two stages, one of which faced the interior and the other the garden. The theatre hosted many performers of the day who went on to fame, such as Paul Herring (later a member of The Pantaloons) whose first hit, Imp of the Devil's Gorge was staged at the Albert Saloon, as well as Edward Edwards, who was well known in the 1830s and 1840s as a melodramatic actor.
The 5th New York Volunteer Infantry, also known as "Duryée's Zouaves", was a volunteer infantry regiment of the Union Army, during the American Civil War, led by Colonel Abram Duryée. Modeled, like other Union and Confederate infantry regiments, on the French Zouaves of Crimean War fame, its tactics and uniforms were different from those of the standard infantry. Even the uniforms of the 5th New York's were modeled closely on those of French Zouaves: a dark blue Zouave jacket with red trim, a dark blue shirt with red trim, a red Zouave sash with sky blue trim, extremely baggy red pantaloons, a red fez with a yellow tassel, white gaiters and leather jambières ("leggings"). The 165th New York Volunteer Infantry was regarded as a sister regiment and known as the "Second Battalion, Duryee Zouaves".
He joined Coke Studio Pakistan in 2008 and performed three original songs "Allah Hu", "Daastan-e-Ishq" and "Nahi Ray Nahi", and one tribute song "Yaar Daddi Ishq" to Muhammad Juman, in season one and two. In 2012, Zafar performed at 11th Lux Style Awards with Humaima Malick and also paid tribute to musician Mehdi Hassan by singing his ghazal "Mujhe Tum Nazar Sai". He also performed at the Pantaloons Femina Miss India contest held at Bhavans Ground in Mumbai on 30 March 2012. He then performed at GiMA Awards. He also had performed at 57th Filmfare Awards, but his performance was cut out in the TV release. In 2013, he performed along with Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Preity Zinta at Temptations Reloaded concert in Muscat, Oman.
As soon as she was able, Fanny Workman published accounts of her feats, such as an article in the Scottish Geographical Magazine. Writing about this trip at length in In the Ice World of the Himalayas, Fanny made efforts to include scientific information and experiments, touting her own modified barometer as superior, but scholarly critics were unimpressed and pointed out her lack of scientific knowledge. Popular reviewers, on the other hand, enjoyed the book, with one concluding, "We have no hesitation in saying that Dr. and Mrs. Workman have written one of the most remarkable books of travel of recent years." pantaloons were acceptable sporting women's dress at the time, Workman wore skirts - while cycling thousands of miles across Europe and Asia, climbing Himalayan peaks, and negotiating crevasses.
The style of ATS is also characterized by costumes derived from various "folkloric" traditions and cultures and is often composed of one or more long, full, tiered (usually 25-yard) skirts over full pantaloons; a short choli top that bares the midriff, over which a bra decorated with coins and textiles is worn; a decorative headband, turban, and/or hair flowers and other decorations; one or more hip scarves with yarn, tassels, or fringe; a decorative belt, often with tassels, coins, and/or medallions; and much oxidized silver jewelry. The jewelry commonly originates from Central Asia, from any number of nomadic tribes or empires (e.g., Kuchi, Turkoman, Rajasthan), and is often large and set with semi-precious stones or, when mass-produced, glass. Makeup usually focuses on a dark eye and red lip, and a decorative bindi is often worn.
Details varied with each production; some b'hoys were named Sykesy or Syksey, others were butcher's apprentices. Haswell gives a slightly different description of the archetype: > a high beaver hat, with the nap divided and brushed in opposite directions, > the hair on the back of his head clipped close, while in front the temple > locks were curled and greased (hence, the well-known term of 'soap-locks' to > the wearer of them), a smooth face, a gaudy silk neckcloth, black frockcoat, > full pantaloons, turned up at the bottom over heavy boots designed for > service in slaughter houses and at fires; and when thus equipped, with his > girl hanging on his arm, it would have been very injudicious to offer him > any obstruction or to utter an offensive remark.Haswell, Charles H. The Little Boy from Manly, drawn by Norman Lindsay during the 1916 Conscription Referendum The Little Boy from Manly was a national personification of New South Wales and later Australia created by the cartoonist Livingston Hopkins of The Bulletin in April 1885. In March 1885, as the New South Wales Contingent was about to depart for the Sudan, a letter was addressed to Premier William Bede Dalley containing a cheque for £25 for the Patriotic Fund 'with my best wishes from a little boy at Manly'. It was Australia's first overseas military adventure, and the little boy became a symbol either of Australian patriotism or, among opponents of the adventure, of mindless chauvinism. Hopkins put the boy in a cartoon, dressed in the pantaloons and frilled shirt associated with English storybook schoolboys of the namby-pamby kind.
Juan de Austria with Spanish breeches and codpiece, 1572 Spanish breeches (gregüescos in Spanish) are a type of breeches or trousers for men, short, baggy (harem pants) and ungathered, usually accompanied by a codpiece. Possibly of military origin, they were in fashion in Spain during the 16th century to the 17th. After that period, they adopted different forms and lengths in Western Europe and the Spanish overseas courts, as an evolution of botargas and other types of hose or pantaloons evolving then to follados or afuellados. They were described - in their varied typology - or ridiculed, by some of the best writers of the Spanish Golden Age, such as Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina or Francisco de Quevedo; and painted by Diego Velázquez, Murillo or Alonso Sánchez Coello, among other artists from the major European courts, as Titian.
Much of the pageantry for the visit would be medieval rather than Highland, but the exotic outfits of the "gathering of the Gael" were to attract most attention. The next day was one that the King spent away from the public at Dalkeith. Edinburgh was full of visitors for the occasion, and that evening they walked round enjoying "illuminations" with illustrated tributes hung on public buildings, businesses and houses, "Everywhere crowded to excess, but in civility and quiet", before being escorted to their rest around midnight by bands of boys carrying flaming torches to light their way. On Saturday afternoon, 17 August, the King attended a short levee at Holyrood Palace, where the great and good queued to be greeted by George in his Highland outfit complete with pink pantaloons to conceal his bloated legs, described as "buff coloured trowsers like flesh to imitate his Royal knees".
Never unpowdered or unperfumed, immaculately bathed and shaved, and dressed in a plain dark blue coat,"In Regency England, Brummel's fashionable simplicity constituted in fact a criticism of the exuberant French fashions of the eighteenth century" (Schmid 2002:83), he was always perfectly brushed, perfectly fitted, showing much perfectly starched linen, all freshly laundered, and composed with an elaborately knotted cravat. From the mid-1790s, Beau Brummell was the early incarnation of "the celebrity", a man chiefly famous for being famous. By the time Pitt taxed hair powder in 1795 to help pay for the war against France and to discourage the use of flour (which had recently increased in both rarity and price, owing to bad harvests) in such a frivolous product, Brummell had already abandoned wearing a wig, and had his hair cut in the Roman fashion, "à la Brutus". Moreover, he led the transition from breeches to snugly tailored dark "pantaloons," which directly led to contemporary trousers, the sartorial mainstay of men's clothes in the Western world for the past two centuries. In 1799, upon coming of age, Beau Brummell inherited from his father a fortune of thirty thousand pounds, which he spent mostly on costume, gambling, and high living.
