In the 1960s Arnold Odermatt documented the early construction of the Swiss motorways in Acheregg and the Lopper tunnel, with extensive photos and 16mm black-and-white film footage. In 1991 Urs Odermatt put all of this historical film material together in the documentary film Lopper. In the 1990s, working as a stills photographer, during filming, Arnold Odermatt worked on the feature films Rotlicht!, Gekauftes Glück und Wachtmeister Zumbühl by Urs Odermatt.

Hergiswil railway station is a Swiss railway station in the municipality of Hergiswil in the canton of Nidwalden. It is at the junction of the Brünig line, which links Lucerne and Interlaken, and the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg line. Both lines are of metre gauge and owned by the Zentralbahn railway company. To the south of the station the Brünig line enters the Lopper I tunnel to Alpnach whilst the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg line enters the Lopper II tunnel to Stansstad.

Anvil loppers have the disadvantage of tending to crush rather than cut, sometimes leaving an untidy wound, more vulnerable to infection. Their main advantages are of relative strength and of being less likely to jam with fibrous material. Very hard or resilient branches can sometimes deflect a bypass lopper so that material either binds between the blades or even levers them apart, which can be dangerous both to the tool and the operator. Both types of lopper generally have a sprung adjusting screw at the fulcrum, which can be used to tighten the blades as they loosen in use.

The tunnel was opened in 1984, and is long. The tunnel has two lanes (one in each direction), and there is no central reservation.

Via an elaborate series of sub-tunnels inside the mountain, this connects in both north and south directions with the A2 enabling travel north to Luzern and Germany beyond as well as south towards the Gotthard and Italy. The ability to turn off the A2 onto the A8 in the northbound direction was only added with the construction of the new Kirchenwald tunnel and a single lane connecting tunnel (which turns off the A2 inside the mountain, loops over the top of the main A2 tunnel before emerging parallel to the A8 Lopper portal.

George and Kramer meet with Slippery Pete and truck driver Shlomo (Reuven Bar Yotam), to coordinate the movement of the Frogger machine. Elaine later looks for a replacement for Peterman's cake, and Kramer suggests an Entenmann's cake. Jerry goes to Lisi's apartment, where he tries to break up with her. Jerry is finally ready to leave 10 hours later, and dark, and as he exits the apartment, he sees a man whom he fears is the Lopper and pleads that Lisi let him back inside; the man turns out to actually be just "Slippery Pete".

The metre gauge terminal platforms, and the first section of the line, are shared with trains of the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg line. Shortly after leaving the station, the line enters a tunnel under Lucerne's southern suburbs as far as Kriens Mattenhof station. From here the line runs on the surface to Hergiswil, where the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg line diverges. From Hergiswil station the Brünig line runs through the Lopper I tunnel, under a shoulder of Mount Pilatus, to Alpnachstad, which is the starting point of the Pilatus Railway.

In 1960 work started on connecting the Engelberg line to the Swiss railway network by constructing a new line between Stansstad and Hergiswil on the Brünig line. This involved constructing a bridge over the narrow Alpnachersee arm of Lake Lucerne, followed by the Lopper II tunnel, under a shoulder of Mount Pilatus. In order to allow Engelberg trains to run over the Brünig line into Lucerne, the whole railway was converted to the same electrical system (), and new rolling stock acquired. The line reopened in 1964, and the owning company changed its name to the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg Railway (LSE).

The name of the tool is derived from the verb "to lop", meaning to cut off (especially branches or twigs), which in turn is related to a noun of precisely the same form: a "lop" is a period or session of branch cutting. Between Luzern and Hergiswil, trains share tracks with the Brünig line and the S-Bahn services. This section is double track as far as the southern end of the Spier tunnel to the north of Hergiswil Matt station; beyond here the line is mainly single track except for passing loops at stations. Between Luzern and Horw, one of the two tracks is dual gauge allowing standard gauge freight trains to serve the adjacent industrial areas. From Hergiswil the LSE line runs through the Lopper II tunnel, under a shoulder of Mount Pilatus, and then bridges the Alpnachersee arm of Lake Lucerne to reach Stansstad.

Stansstad railway station is a Swiss railway station in the municipality of Stansstad in the canton of Nidwalden. It is on the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg line, owned by the Zentralbahn railway company, and is adjacent to the bridge that carries the line across the Alpnachersee arm of Lake Lucerne and into the Lopper II tunnel. The current railway station is the second to exist in Stansstad, having been built as a through station on the section of line opened in 1964 to connect the then Stansstad–Engelberg line to the Brünig line at Hergiswil. The original Stansstad station was a terminus, located on the lake side some to the north of the current station.

In 1922, the AMC was mentioned for the first time as an institute established to evaluate the aptitude and health of professional air force pilot candidates. From the outset, strict selection procedures and intensive support for the pilots have been the aim, so as to ensure missions are accomplished in the challenging environment of military aviation and to positively influence flight safety. On 23 October 2013, the FAI aviation medical doctor Volker Lang († 54), lost his life when the F/A-18D J-5237, in which he flew as a passenger / observer, flew into the Mountain Lopper near Alpnach. The F/A-18 pilot Stefan Jäger of the Fliegerstaffel 11 also lost his life .

Elaine is confronted with cake from two separate celebrations at her workplace; tired of the forced socializing, she calls in sick the next day. Jerry and George go to their old high-school hangout, Mario's Pizza Parlor, for one last slice of pizza before it closes down. Kramer has visited the police station where he obtained some caution tape used for crime scenes and also heard about a serial killer nicknamed "The Lopper" who is on the loose in the Riverside Park area. At Mario's, George discovers he still has the high score on the old Frogger video game, with a score of 860,630 points; both Jerry and he remember that they stopped going to Mario's because he had a tendency to insult his customers.

Even more west of it is the Buochser Bucht, but the lake sharply turns north again through the narrow opening between the Unter Nas (lower nose) of the Bürgenstock to the west and the Ober Nas (upper nose) of the Rigi to the east to reach the Vitznauer Bucht. In front of Vitznau below the Rigi the lake turns sharply west again to reach the center of a four-arm cross, called the Chrütztrichter (Cross Funnel). Here converge the Vitznauer Bucht with the Küssnachtersee from the north, the Luzernersee from the west, and the Horwer Bucht and the Stanser Trichter to the south, which is to be found right below the northeast side of the Pilatus and the west side of the Bürgenstock. At the very narrow pass between the east dropper of the Pilatus (called Lopper) and Stansstad the lake reaches its southwestern arm at Alpnachstad on the steep southern foothills of the Pilatus, the Alpnachersee.

Newest aerial cable car (called Dragon Ride) arriving at top station of Pilatus The whole mountain range stretches at least from the Lopper just opposite from Stansstad to the east as far as at least to the Mittaggüpfi () and the Risetestock () to the west on the border between LU and OW. The highest peak, Tomlishorn (), and the other peaks, such as Widderfeld () even further west than the Tomlishorn on the border between LU and OW, Matthorn () to the south, the Klimsenhorn () to the north (UW), and Rosegg () and Windegg () to the east, both on the border of UW and OW, should only be approached with appropriate Alpine hiking equipment. Jurisdiction over the massif is divided between the cantons of Obwalden (OW), Nidwalden (NW), and Lucerne (LU). The main peaks are right on the border between Obwalden and Nidwalden. The top can be reached with the Pilatus Railway, the world's steepest cogwheel railway, from Alpnachstad, operating from May to November (depending on snow conditions) and the whole year with the aerial panorama gondolas and aerial cableways from Kriens.
