Although the band only released four EPs and did not sell many records, their reputation has grown over time.

Jyd Goolie (born 11 May 1997) is a Trinidadian cricketer. He made his first- class debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the 2016–17 Regional Four Day Competition on 18 November 2016. Prior to his first-class debut, he was named in the West Indies squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In March 2020, in round eight of the 2019–20 West Indies Championship, Goolie scored his maiden century in first-class cricket.

Mark McAvoy, author of "Cork Rock: From Rory Gallagher to the Sultans of Ping", writes that "Donnelly probably would have been the most influential musician and songwriter in terms of the Cork music scene and the bands that stemmed from it." Their most widely regarded work, the EP Knot a Fish, was released in 1983. Donnelly's career peaked again in June 1989 when the EP Him Goolie Goolie Man, Dem was named "Single of the Week" by the NME.O'Neill, Ryan.

In 2010, Andresen was awarded the Norwegian cinema managers' "Sølvklumpen" award for his film Liverpool Goolie. In 2012, his Company Orheim won the top Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film at the Gothenburg Film Festival.

The band released an EP, Him Goolie Goolie Man, Dem, in early June 1989, produced by Jon Langford of the Mekons and the Three Johns. It was Setanta's first release, and contained five tracks, including a cover of "Day Tripper" by the Beatles. A few weeks after release, on 18 June 1989, Donnelly drowned while swimming in Hyde Park's Serpentine Pond, aged 27. Dineen had been out with him that day, and they had planned to meet at a pub later in the evening.

Donnelly and Dineen remained in London after the split. Early 1988 they recruited Dublin-born bassist Maurice Carter and Swiss drummer Daniel Strittmatter and reformed under the name Beethoven Fucking Beethoven, later abbreviated as simply Beethoven. After a debut gig at the Mean Fiddler, the band came to the attention of Keith Cullen, owner of Setanta Records, and for a period he acted as their manager and booked their gigs. The band released an EP, Him Goolie Goolie Man, Dem, in early June 1989, produced by Jon Langford of the Mekons and the Three Johns.

This incarnation featured a variation of the Goolie Get-Together theme song which announced, "It's time for the Goolies and Sabrina!" In 1971, CBS split the two shows apart and paired Groovie Goolies with Tom and Jerry on Sunday mornings in an hour-long animation block, beginning on September 12, 1971.

In 1979, Idle and Fataar issued a single as "Dirk and Stig"—"Ging Gang Goolie" backed with "Mr. Sheene". This was Idle's only appearance on a Rutles-related disc. Throughout the 1980s, the Rutles did not exist. In 1982, the Rutles were involved in a record scandal reminiscent of the one surrounding the Beatles' Yesterday and Today album.

Described by Kruth as "red-hot", Hendrix's version was recorded for BBC Radio in 1967 and subsequently issued on his 1998 album BBC Sessions. Lennon was indifferent about Redding's version; in his 1968 Rolling Stone review, Lennon said he especially liked José Feliciano's recording of the song. "Day Tripper" was the lead track on the Irish band Beethoven's 1989 Him Goolie Goolie Man, Dem EP. Steven Wells of the NME named the record "Single of the Week", writing that "The centrestone of this jewel of a record is the kidnapping, tarring and feathering, mugging, shagging and destruction of 'Day Tripper'." Pauline Oliveros's tape-delay collage piece "Rock Symphony", which she debuted at the San Francisco Tape Music Center in December 1965, used samples of "Day Tripper" and "Norwegian Wood", along with recent recordings by the Animals, the Bobby Fuller Four and Tammi Terrell.

Fataar's then wife, Penelope Tree, also appeared in All You Need Is Cash, as Stig's wife, Penelope. Fataar was less than quiet on the two albums produced by The Rutles, The Rutles and Archeology, which featured him playing guitar, bass, sitar, drums, and singing. He would also go on to record a single with Eric Idle as 'Dirk & Stig' titled, "Mr. Sheene" / "Ging Gang Goolie".

Spalding's Scouting activities also included running the group's biennial jumble sale. He was also a keen photographer, and often contributed pictures and text about scout activities to the local paper. Spalding was also known for his enthusiastic rendition of songs like Three Blind Mice, Sing a Song of Sixpence, Ging Gang Goolie, Green Grow the Rushes, O, and The Wild Rover at camp fires.

In 1969, a version was recorded by British comedic group The Scaffold. Released as a single, "Gin Gan Goolie" reached number 38 on the UK Singles Chart. In 1991 Dorothy Unterschutz, a Canadian Scout Leader from Edmonton, wrote a dramatization of the song in the form of a tale named "The Great Grey Ghost Elephant". It was published in Scouts Canada's "The Leader" magazine in the 1991 June–July Issue (p.7).

It was at this point that the more common Goolie Get-Together opening credits sequence was created, consisting of a montage of scenes from the song The Monster Trio. After a single season on Sundays, the show was canceled. Despite the cancellation, CBS was not done with the Groovie Goolies yet. In 1972, they were bumped up to regulars on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, appearing in half of that season's episodes, which continued to be rerun until 1974.

The first blood chit may have been made in 1793 when French balloonist Jean-Pierre Blanchard demonstrated his hot air balloon in the United States. Because he could not control the direction of the balloon, no one knew where he would land. Because Blanchard did not speak English, George Washington, according to legend, gave him a letter that said that all U.S. citizens were obliged to assist him to return to Philadelphia. In World War I, British Royal Flying Corps pilots in India and Mesopotamia carried a "goolie chit" printed in four local languages that promised a reward to anyone who would bring an unharmed British aviator back to British lines.

The lineup included Vee, Preslar, McCulloch and two new members, lead guitarist Stuart Casson and drummer Mark "Goolie" Kermanj. In the early 1990s, Vee formed Tesco Vee's Hate Police, backed by guitarists Keith Campbell and Tommy "Dog" Cohen, bassist Scotty "Thorson" Slade and drummer Neil Ekberg (Campbell and Ekberg were also members of D.C. punk band Black Market Baby). The group released several EPs and one album, 1992's Gonzo Hate Vibe. Vee then released three more albums with the Meatmen (including guitarist Norman Voss, bassist Mark Davis, and drummers Mark Glass and Rob San Pietro) in a metal-influenced punk style: Toilet Slave (1994, Meat King Records), Pope on a Rope (1995, also on Meat King) and War of the Superbikes II (1996, Go-Kart Records).
