In the seventies, a seedy movie theatre showing B-movies and softcore porn were called a "fleapit." In"Fleapit," a group of eleven people watching Bruce LaBruce's The Raspberry Reich in a theatre slowly start to flirt with each other, becoming more and more sexually aroused as they watch the porn on the screen until they become part of the porn film themselves.

Spymonkey have also made a pilot for a sitcom, in 2013, called Fleapit. It was written by Abigail Dooley and Emma Edwards, and directed by Chris Curtis. Fleapit is set in a failing art-house cinema, La Scala, managed by pretentious film buff Kenneth Forbes (Toby Park), aided by Lorenzo (Aitor Basauri) who runs an unusual kiosk, and Otto (Stephan Kreiss), the naked machete-wielding projectionist. The cinema has recently been bought out by the cinema chain, Cinegiant, who have sent Deborah Reynolds (Petra Massey), their Interim Transitional Co-ordinator, to implement changes.

The player encounters a number of different enemies, such as the aforementioned fleas. For fleas, in order for the player to complete the level, Plok have to destroy every single one them in every level (with the exceptions of Cotton Island, Legacy Island, and Fleapit) until one of them drops a flag and will levitates to its flag pole.

Young co-directed two feature films, Missy and The Fleapit Three, and a feature-length documentary, The Misbehavers. He collaborated with director and friend Steven Greenstreet on a pair of documentaries, serving as assistant director for This Divided State and producing Killer at Large. His short film 3 1/2 Stars won Best Writing at the Helper Film Festival.

There, Plok notices various presents waiting for him as he rides on various vehicles with different kinds of arsenals. Plok journeys deep down into the Fleapit, and ultimately challenging a large insect who is responsible for hatching all the fleas around his island and a ruler of the same kind, the Flea Queen. Plok eventually vanquished her with a bug spray and went back home for a well-deserved sleep on a green chair, thus saving the day.

Comin' Thro the Rye is a 1923 British silent drama film directed by Cecil Hepworth and starring Alma Taylor and Ralph Forbes. The film was based on the novel of the same name by Helen Mathers. The title alludes to the Robert Burns poem "Comin' Through the Rye". A clip of it is seen in the comedy The Smallest Show on Earth (1957), in which the elderly staff of the old fleapit cinema tearfully watch silent films on their evenings off.

Video Watchdog was a bi-monthly, digest size film magazine published from 1990 to 2017 by publisher/editor Tim Lucas and his wife, art director and co- publisher Donna Lucas. Although devoted chiefly to the horror, science fiction, and fantasy genres, the magazine frequently delved beyond these strictures into art film, Hong Kong action cinema, spaghetti western, exploitation films, anime, and general mainstream cinema. In addition to Lucas himself, Video Watchdog's list of regular contributors included such writers as Kim Newman, Stephen R. Bissette, associate editor John Charles, Bill Cooke and Heather Drain. Regular columns included "Ramsey's Rambles" by Ramsey Campbell and "Fleapit Flashbacks" by Joe Dante.

Back to the present day, Plok woke up from a dream and discovers that the amulet is located at the bottom of the statue. Plok's mission on getting his island back continues with an ability where he can turn himself into a saw. Plok then heads into various of locations around the island while facing other creatures who also have an intention to take over the island as well: the magicians Penkinos, a large spider Womack, and a huge humanoid rock creature Rockyfella. After confronting them as he clearing out all the fleas from Akrillic and rising the flags, Plok descends into Brendammi Bog where the source of all the bizarre (yet aggressive) fleas is located, the Fleapit.

Specific to North American term is the movies, while specific terms in the UK are the pictures, the flicks and for the facility itself the flea pit (or fleapit).
