Due to host plant losses (plant that the larvae use to feed on), Glade Coppers don’t appear as often or as common relative to their actual abundance in nature. Apart from forest glades, they can be found in various locations where their larval host plant grows (Gibbs 1961, Flux 1968). It is also a sedentary species, it has a small home range and never goes too far from the larvae food plant (Craw 1975).
The Robotics Certification Standards Alliance (RCSA) is a global company that has been actively providing robotics curricula, training, online testing systems and certification since 1998. RCSA first started with partnerships with Motoman and Private Career Colleges in Canada. The partnerships grew to have included ABB, Motoman and Panasonic. In 2006 RCSA was invited to join the American Welding Society (AWS) D16 committee to provide robotics and testing expertise in the development of America's first robotic welding exam (CRAW).
In 1884 Meyrick went on to synonymise his name with Scotosia subobscurata but placed the species within the genus Larentia. George Vernon Hudson discussed the species as Xanthorhoe subobscurata in 1898 and mentioned that both Scotosia subobscurata and Larentia petropola were synonyms. Again using the name Xanthorhoe subobscurata Hudson also described and illustrated the species in 1928. In 1987 Robin C. Craw placed this species within the genus Gingidiobora thus its current name is Gingidiobora subobscurata.

However, at some point, Colonel Demas T. Craw reported from one of the ships that the ship's captain had refused to hang any nets or lower any craft, giving the reason that his crew was not sufficiently trained to go on the expedition. Truscott visited with the ship's captain for a while, and informing him that the inadequate state of training and preparation was known, his refusal would have no effect on the overall operation. The captain relented, and training on that ship began.
This species was described by Louis Beethoven Prout in 1914 as Xanthorhoe declarata using material collected by George Howes at Ben Lomond in Otago in February. George Hudson discussed and illustrated this species under the name Xanthorhoe declarata in his 1928 publication The Butterflies and Moths of New Zealand. However Hudson made an error, giving the incorrect name of the discoverer of the species, as well as the incorrect type locality. In 1987 Robin C. Craw proposed assigning this species to the genus Asaphodes.
Lineman's pliers can be used to bend or straighten sheet metal components, especially in cases where smaller pliers don't offer enough mechanical advantage. The square nose and flat side of Lineman pliers is particularly useful for creating accurate right angle bends. The durability of these pliers allows them to be used for tasks like removing nails and other types of fasteners. Lineman's pliers are similar to needle- nose pliers: both tools share a typically solid, machined forged steel construction, durable pivot, gripping nose and cutting craw.
Craw was born in Ayr, South Ayrshire, Scotland where he trained in horticulture. He worked in the Royal nurseries at Ascot and at Martins and Son, Cottingham before he moved to California in 1873 and worked as a horticulturist there. After two years in San Diego, he worked at the Wolfskill orange groves in Los Angeles and became a member of the Horticultural Commission of California. From 1890 he worked in the port of San Francisco as a quarantine officer to prevent the entry of potential pests.
Jaike pretends to be drunk and 'accidentally' lets slip that the day of the by- election would be a good opportunity to catch Craw conspiring in Castle Gay, as most of the castle staff will be absent. The monarchists, now joined by Prince John himself, are horrified to hear that their enemies are at hand, and especially by the presence of the communist leader Anton Mastrovin. They leave immediately for London. Prince John is helped by McCunn - who has developed strong personal loyalties - to escape by boat.
As the prince departs, he give McCunn a ring and McCunn vows that "if ever you have need of me, a word will bring me across the world". Mastrovin and his men arrive at the castle and demand to see Craw. They expect to find him plotting with the prince and monarchists but instead find him in his study innocently dictating letters. They pull out guns, but are disconcerted when McCunn walks in, in his matter- of-fact way, followed by the local policeman.
The size of the sandy area of the beach is far less than it was in prior to 1914 when a promenade and sea wall were constructed. A functional storm water drain emptying near to the bogey hole was built in 1918. During heavy wave conditions in 1961 six children swimming in the bogy hole were wash back into the pipes. All six were safely rescued by Waverley Council Life Guards and Bronte lifesavers who had to craw up into the pipes following the two branches.
But they did get a key 30–21 win vs. #9 Purdue on Oct. 11; had Michigan lost, Purdue would have gone to the Rose Bowl (Ohio State could not go due to the Big Ten's "no repeat" rule) regardless of the outcome of the Ohio State game. Michigan would win their next four games, with a team including quarterback Don Moorhead, fullback Garvie Craw, wingback John Gabler, tailbacks Glenn Doughty and Billy Taylor, offensive lineman Dan Dierdorf and defensive stars Barry Pierson, Thom Darden, Cecil Pryor and Henry Hill.
Michigan started the next possession at their own 33. Once they reached the Ohio State 33, Michigan ran a tailback draw, and Billy Taylor gained 28 yards to the Buckeye 5. Two plays later, Craw punched it into the end zone to put Michigan ahead 14–12. After Ohio State went three-and-out on their next possession, punter Mike Sensibaugh kicked to Michigan's Barry Pierson, who began his career game by returning the punt all the way to the Buckeye 3-yard line, sending Michigan Stadium into delirium.
Thumbling is (like in the other version of the story) devoured by a cow and befuddles the innkeeper when his voice emanates from within it. The cow is slaughtered and though Thumbling tries to escape from its innards, he ends up being cooked into a black pudding with the meat. The pudding is eventually cut into slices by the mistress of the house and Thumbling once again barely escapes with his life. Resuming his journey, Thumbling is next snapped up by a fox in the woods but manages to get himself caught in its craw.
In the 1990s, the hardcore punk scene started to embrace extreme metal openly and also was highly ideologized, with most of the popular bands being part of subcultures, religions or political groups. Some mathcore bands started inspired by straight edge and Hare Krishna groups, including Converge, Coalesce and Botch. On the other hand, the more unorthodox bands that substantially influenced mathcore remained in the underground. Two bands usually credited as mathcore forerunners are mid-westerners Dazzling Killmen and Craw, who at the time were considered part of the "noisier" branch of math rock.
In the fall of 1990, Lori Davis left the group and was replaced by Neil Chastain. The new lineup recorded a second demo, Celephais, as well as several singles and the band's first, self-titled album. Apanius and Chastain left the group in 1994 and 1995, respectively, and were replaced by Zak Dieringer and Will Scharf. Craw amassed a local following in the early ’90s, often performing at Cleveland's Euclid Tavern, and during the mid-to-late ’90s, they toured North America frequently, sharing bills with bands such as the Jesus Lizard, Melvins and Neurosis.
The mother expects a joyous reunion, in some versions preparing a celebratory feast for them, which, as subjects of Death, they are unable to eat. They consistently remind her that they are no longer living; they are unable to sleep as well and must depart at the break of day. :"The cock doth craw, the day doth daw, :The channerin worm doth chide; :Gin we be mist out o our place, :A sair pain we maun bide." The most popular versions in America have a different tone and an overtly religious nature.
The Robinson-Stewart House is a historic house located at 110 S. Main Cross St. in Carmi, Illinois. Built in 1814 by John Craw, the house is the oldest in Carmi and one of the oldest in Illinois. Carmi was founded in an 1816 meeting at the house; the community's early settlers met there to choose the community's name, a reference to a biblical figure, and voted to plat its land. The house also served as White County's courthouse until 1828, when a separate courthouse building was constructed.
Amnesty International said that the Brown Moses Blog was vital in proving the Syrian government was using ballistic missiles, information then used to send a research mission to Syria. Eliot Higgins has been a subject of interest for the British and U.S. media and is described as "one of the world's foremost citizen journalists" by News Limited reporter Victoria Craw. He has been profiled in print by The Guardian, The Independent, The Huffington Post, and The New Yorker. Television features have been run by Channel 4 News and CNN International.
Colonel Craw's official Medal of Honor citation reads: > For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action above and beyond the > call of duty. On November 8, 1942, near Port Lyautey, French Morocco, Col. > Craw volunteered to accompany the leading wave of assault boats to the shore > and pass through the enemy lines to locate the French commander with a view > to suspending hostilities. This request was first refused as being too > dangerous but upon the officer's insistence that he was qualified to > undertake and accomplish the mission he was allowed to go.
Ball Glacier is a glacier long with the head located between Mount Lister and Mount Hooker on the east side of the Royal Society Range. The glacier flows northeast between Craw Ridge and Tasman Ridge into Blue Glacier. It was named by the New Zealand Geographic Board after Gary Ball, a New Zealand mountaineer who climbed Mount Lister with an Italian field party, 1976–77, and camped on this glacier; he was field assistant with R.H. Findlay's New Zealand Antarctic Research Program party to this area, 1980–81.
As in previous Thunder Force games, the player has a special weapon named the "CRAW" that emits additional firepower and absorbs enemy shots. Thunder Force V allows for three CRAWs to be used instead of two like its predecessors, and will remain on the screen for a finite period of time that allows the player to recollect them. The CRAWs can also be combined with the player's currently-selected weapon to create a more powerful version of it called an "Over Weapon". Over Weapons can be used for a limited amount of time before they revert to their original state.
After landing on Green Beach before dawn, still under hostile fire from shore batteries, the officers commandeered a small truck and were strafed by French aircraft when it became stuck in a muddy marsh. After the truck was extricated by a detachment of combat engineers, they attempted to continue their mission but were forced to return to the beach when caught in the exchanges of French artillery and naval gunfire from Task Group 34.8 of the United States Navy. When Truscott expressed misgivings about the mission, Craw convinced him to allow them to continue. They located a jeep and enlisted its driver, Pfc.
Argyrophenga antipodum is approximately 12–17 mm long with a wingspan of about 35–45 mm.(Early, 2009) Male and female common tussock butterflies are quite different in body shape, as females are shorter and have more rounded bodies compared to the males.(Craw, 1978) Common tussock butterflies have very distinct markings on the underside of their wings;(O'Brien, 1985) they are described as silver streaks and give the butterflies an advantage when it comes to camouflage.(Lindsay & Morris, 2000) The butterfly itself is brown and red, with distinctive eyespots, this is believed to be an evolutionary adaptation to prevent prey from attacking.
Proprietors of Locks and Canals on the Merrimack River in 1836 James Francis was born in South Leigh, near Witney, Oxfordshire in England, United Kingdom. He started his engineering career at the early age of 14 as he worked as his father's apprentice at the Port Craw Railway and Harbor Works in South Wales.Lowell National Historic Park publication When he turned 18, he decided to emigrate to the United States, in 1833. His first job was in Stonington, Connecticut as an assistant to the railway engineer George Washington Whistler Jr., working on the New York and New Haven Railroad.
The name "Crow" may be derived from an old Common Brittonic word, either "criw" meaning "ford, weir", or perhaps "craw" meaning "hovel".Crow, Old Hampshire Gazetteer In the Domesday Book of 1086, Crow (Crone) was held by the sons of Godric Malf from the King.Domesday Map - Crow In the 13th and 14th centuries the manor was held at various times by John de Burley, Sir Hugh Cheyne, Sir John Berkeley, and Humphrey Duke of Gloucester.Victoria County History of Hampshire: Ringwood It was held by the Milbourne family in the 15th and 16th centuries until the death of Richard Milbourne in 1532.
Thomas W. and Margaret Taliaferro had lived in Birmingham, Michigan since 1912, and in 1925 they purchased a lot and built this house, one of the first two houses built in the subdivision. The Taliaferros lived in this house until Margaret's death in 1939 and Thomas's in 1940. In 1941, the house was occupied by the Children's Fund of Michigan, in 1944 by John Singos and Marian Singos, in 1956 by Charles O. Miller, in 1968 by Herbert and Mary Jane Craw, and in 1974 by Conleyt and Nancy Bacon, who owned the house until at least 2011.
Two starships are available at the beginning of the game — the RVR-001 "Phoenix" and the Rynex-R — both of which have different weapon loadouts and playstyles. Additional ships can be unlocked by progressing through the game and completing specific objectives. The player has access to five different weapon types, each having varying abilities and strengths; unlike earlier games in the series, the player starts with all of them, without needing to collect them while progressing through stages. The primary weapon is the "Craw", which can be launched at enemies to create powerful electric charges that obliterate anything in their path.
Rachael Craw was born and raised in Christchurch. She completed a degree in Classical Studies and Drama at the University of Canterbury and then trained as a secondary school teacher and taught English for several years at Christchurch Girls' High School and Rangi Ruru Girls' College. After the 2010 Canterbury earthquake and 2011 Christchurch earthquake, Rachael and her husband and three daughters stayed in their home in a red-zoned street in Christchurch for two years before moving to Nelson. Rachael describes herself as being fascinated with words from an early age and remembers being thrilled to receive her first lockable diary.
On November 8, 1942, French forces resisted Allied landing operations and Craw undertook the mission with Hamilton. The officers intended to land at a jetty on the Sebou River near French headquarters, but the alerted French defenders began shelling the landing force, and they instead came ashore with the first wave of Goalpost landing craft carrying troops of the 2nd Battalion, 60th Regimental Combat Team. After disembarking on Green Beach before dawn, and still under hostile fire from shore batteries, the officers commandeered a small truck. They were strafed by French aircraft when it became stuck in a muddy marsh.
The policy series culminated in the publication of Young Fabian 61 policy pamphlet "Irreversible? Health and social care policy in a post-coalition Landscape",> edited by Martin Edobor and Daniel Wilson-Craw examining the way a 'whole person care' approach could be used to tackle the health and social care crisis. Ade Adeyemi chaired the Health Network from 2012–2013, where he led a policy series looking at the use of data within the NHS. In June 2013 the Health Network entered a formal partnership with AMREF, Africa’s leading health charity> with the aim of long term collaboration to provide policy- based solutions to healthcare problems in Africa.
The old hospital at Calside The hospital has its origins in a general dispensary in central Paisley which opened in 1786 and became a house of recovery in 1805. A new facility financed by William Barbour and designed by Thomas Graham Abercrombie was completed at Calside in July 1896. In the early 1980s it was decided to create a modern hospital on the site of the old Riccartsbar Hospital in Craw Road and the new facility was officially opened by Princess Alexandra in May 1988. The hospital received patients from the 2007 Glasgow Airport attack, including one of the suspects who was taken to the hospital under arrest with severe burns.
Brumby signed with Sony Records, she wrote and recorded her debut single, "Fool for You", which was released in April 1996 and peaked at No. 31 on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) ARIA Singles Charts. It provided an ARIA Award for 'Best New Talent' in 1996. The single was also nominated as 'Breakthrough Artist – Single' and 'Producer of the Year' for its producer, David Bridie (member of My Friend The Chocolate Cake). Musicians used on the recording were: Rob Craw on guitar and backing vocals, Will Dickins on bass guitar, Stephen Moffatt on guitar, and Greg Patten (also from My Friend The Chocolate Cake) on drums.

On November 8, 1942, when French forces resisted Allied landing operations, Hamilton undertook a mission for Truscott to deliver a message to the local French commander near Port Lyautey, French Morocco, to broker a cease fire. He was joined in the mission by Col. Demas T. Craw, who volunteered to accompany Hamilton to lend the prestige of his rank to the negotiations. The officers came ashore in the first wave of Goalpost landing craft carrying troops of the 2nd Battalion, 60th Regimental Combat Team, but the alerted French defenders began shelling the force and prevented a planned landing at a jetty on the Sebou River near French headquarters.
George Brudenell- Bruce, 2nd Marquess of Ailesbury (1804-1878) of nearby Tottenham House, Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire, sent some horses to Taylor which soon resulted in St Albans winning the 1860 Chester Cup and St Leger. In 1864 Palmerston came second in the Derby and in 1866 Savernake also came second in the Derby for the same owner. This success attracted the attention of the Scottish aristocrat and millionaire William Stuart Stirling-Crawfurd (1819-1883) ("Craw"), a property developer in Glasgow and coal mine owner, who took his horses to Fyfield having been double crossed by his previous trainer. In 1868 Taylor sent Craw's Moslem to dead-heat for the 2,000 Guineas.
Paul Thomas went on to be a major part of the final line up of Weddings Parties Anything and later Custard. He has also played in local Melbourne bands such as Four Door Shitbox, Son of John and skiffle group The Rock Island Linesmen. He did the album Rob Knows Paul, an acoustic album of left over songs he and Rob Craw had written for the Creepers, covers of Screaming Jay Hawkins, Johnny Thunders and NRBQ, as well as acoustic versions of This Day Is Mine and Better Days from So This Is Paris. He has also played with Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter and Nick Barker.
In March, the 19th Antisubmarine Squadron relocated to Gander Airport in Newfoundland, soon joined by two other squadrons.Maurer, Combat Squadrons, pp. 25–26, 37–38, 101 Eventually the command formed two groups in England and Morocco. In June 1943, the 480th Antisubmarine Group was formed at Craw Field, French Morocco to conduct patrols north and west of Morocco along the Atlantic approaches to the Strait of Gibraltar. The group was formed with the 1st and 2d Antisubmarine Squadrons, which had moved to Morocco from England. In July 1943, German submarines concentrated off the coast of Portugal to intercept convoys bound for the Mediterranean Sea.
He reportedly came under fire 136 times and participated in twenty-one RAF bombing sorties during the assignments. When the German army invaded Greece in April 1941, Craw was captured and interned for six weeks, until exchanged at Sofia, Bulgaria, and was awarded the Order of George I (Officer class) by the King of Greece. He returned to Egypt and observed the campaign against the Afrika Korps in June 1941, then was assigned as deputy executive officer of the II Bomber Command at Fort George Wright, Washington. On November 15, 1941, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, and on March 1, 1942, after the United States entered the war, to colonel.
A coal seam dips down under the southern margin of the loch and a mine was dug in the 1780s. In 1793 the waters of the loch burst into the workings and at least six miners were drowned, their bodies never being recovered. A servant collecting coal was also drowned, having wandered into the pit out of curiosity.Pride, Page 142 Several attempts were made to drain and re-open the mine, to no avail, however it was reopened around 1830 as the Loch Coal Co. with much deeper shafts and two seams being exploited, one Ell Coal and the other Craw Coal; both seams were about four feet thick.
Able-bodied husbands and sons were in the Forces and so were house painters, builders and slaters. Stating glibly that "the report does not set out to make detailed proposals for individual towns", the authors then included an artist's impression of Paisley as they would like to see it. Described as "a bird’s eye view", and in full colour, it shows that Castlehead, Craw Road, High Calside and the rest have gone - replaced by high- density skyscrapers. There were 16 storeys to the concrete tower blocks they envisaged for the south side of Main Road from Woodend to Calside and they were hardly any smaller on the other side.
Like the other Copper butterflies, Glade Coppers feed as well as lay their eggs Muehlenbeckia australis (Hudson 1928), otherwise known as Pohuehue, a climbing plant native to New Zealand. Wherever it grows, high chances are one could find a Glade Coppers habitat. To some extent, we could say that the presence of these butterflies is highly influences by the flowering seasons of their foodplant according to observed flowering periods coinciding with butterfly brood periods (Craw 1974). They are however considered to be curious butterflies as they will go out and investigate what other butterflies or species do if approached or if their habitat is entered.
Like similar groups such as Zeni Geva, Craw, U.S. Maple, or Dazzling Killmen (this last group for which Sakes sang before relocating to Minnesota) Colossamite's music was almost hyperbolically brutal, chaotic, and rhythmically and formally complex. Rather than relying, as most heavy metal bands, on guitar distortion to produce an intense sound, Colossamite instead often relied on very loud "clean" (undistorted) guitars, played dissonantly, in conjunction with vocals that were screamed rather than sung. Songs featured jarring shifts in tempo and mood, with the overall sound being extremely raw, heavy and often slow. Colossamite released three recordings on the Chicago-based Skin Graft Records and one split CD on Italy's Freeland Records.
Old English ag-, aw- and āw became in Early Scots then in Middle Scots and subsequently, depending on dialect, or in Modern Scots, for example: draw, gnaw, and law from dragan, gnagan, haga and lagu, and Norse maw (seagull) and claw from maga and clawa. blaw (blow), craw (crow), maw (mowe), sawe (sow), saul (soul) and snaw (snow) from blāwan, crāwe, māwan, sāwan, sāwol and snāwan. Similarly with Old English āg and Norse lágr which became awn (to own) and law (low). Before and + consonant, Middle Scots also became or in Modern Scots, for example: caunle (candle), draucht (draught), haund (hand), lauch (laugh), saund (sand) and slauchter (slaughter) from candel, draht, hand, hlæhhan, sand and slæ.
EK3 started touring the Deep South and conducted four tours of the Midwest. The band played two mini-tours with Man or Astroman, as well as shows with many noise, metal, and indie rock bands of the day including: Craw, The Flying Luttenbachers, Jucifer, Sweep the Leg Johnny, Ex Models, The Violent Femmes, The Locust, Cream Abdul Babar, Pferd, Apollo Up, and others. The band’s first two recordings were made in rural Elmore County, Alabama, by Jim Marrer, engineer for most of Man or Astroman’s Touch and Go albums. During the recording of their second album, How to Win a Sword Fight, the band was signed to Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Yawn Records.
He is an extreme recluse, and has leased the secluded Castle Gay from its English owner Lord Rynns. Craw is abducted by students during a prank in which he is mistaken for another man, and is held at the very cottage where Jaikie and Dougal intend to stay. They agree to carry a letter to Craw's secretary at Castle Gay, Frederick Barbon, who can make sure that he remains hidden from the crowds of journalists who have arrived to cover an important local by-election. The friends find the gates to the Castle grounds barred, and they stumble across a journalist for a rival paper, Albert Tibbets, who is covering the story of Craw’s disappearance.
And so on it went - another vast plantation of concrete and roughcast replaced Craw Road and Riccarstbar Avenue, and there was yet another on what appears to be the present site of the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The Ferguslie cricket ground was to be preserved, and so, it seemed, was the old Canal Street with its ribbon of tumbledown tenements and what looked like an impossibly busy Canal Street station and its attendant coal yards and sidings. Castlehead householders, having survived Adolf Hitler’s bombs, feared that they were about to be evicted for some derisory compulsory purchase settlement. For some there would have been no alternative to becoming council tenants on this dystopian new housing estate.
Retrospectively in 2007, Rob Fahey of Eurogamer said that while it wasn't nearly as refined or "utterly fantastic" as Einhänder or Radiant Silvergun, Thunder Force V was still a good shooter with well-implemented mechanics. Fahey particularly praised the CRAW for being the game's "hook", and also liked its level design and "perfectly- tuned" boss fights. He described it as being: "A very solid shooter, in other words, which deserved far more credit than it received - not least because any shooter with bosses called Deep Purple and Iron Maiden is alright in our book". In 2010, Hardcore Gaming 101s Paul Brownlee said that Thunder Force V had a great soundtrack and good gameplay, but was slightly hindered by visuals and 3D models that didn't age well.
Charles Sturt University was formed from the merger of a number of higher education campuses in the city of Wagga Wagga. Hungappa was first published on the Wagga Wagga campus of the University in 1989See National Library of Australia catalogue with its name meaning "to spread the word" in the local Aboriginal tribe, the Wiradjuri's language. The new and re-vamped "Hungappa" was the brainchild of Anita Craw, who developed a weekly black and white A4 newsletter entitled "RU News". [RU standing for Rivcoll Union] The newsletter was originally intended to spread sporting results and club activities and events to the members of the Rivcoll Union and its members - who were, by virtue of universal student unionism, the students of Charles Sturt University, Wagga Campus.
Pierpont Morgan Hamilton (August 3, 1898 - March 4, 1982) was a general officer in the United States Air Force, and the scion of two illustrious families in American history, the Hamilton family, which traces its lineage to founding father Alexander Hamilton, and the Morgan family, which traces its lineage to the financier and banker J. P. Morgan. As a United States Army Air Forces officer in World War II, he was the recipient of the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor. Hamilton and Col. Demas T. Craw were the first Army Air Forces recipients of the Medal in the European- Mediterranean theater of World War II and the only AAF members to be awarded that decoration for valor not involving air combat.
The "Craw Stane", a Pictish symbol stone depicting a salmon and an unknown animal Eight Pictish symbol stones have been found at Rhynie, including the "Rhynie Man", a tall boulder carved with a bearded man carrying an axe, possibly a representation of the Celtic god Esus, that was discovered in 1978. The "Rhynie Man" now stands inside Woodhill House (the headquarters of Aberdeenshire Council ) in Aberdeen. In 2011 archaeological excavations at Rhynie, near the site of the "Rhynie Man", by archaeologists from Aberdeen University and Chester University uncovered a substantial fortified settlement dating to the early medieval period. Among the finds at the site were fragments of a late 5th or 6th century Roman amphora that must have been imported from the Mediterranean region.
In its outlines, it's nothing like the usual success story depicted on-screen, in which, after a reasonable interval of disappointment, success arrives wrapped in a ribbon and a bow. Instead, this success story follows the pattern most common in life—it chronicles a series of soul-sickening failures and defeats, missed opportunities, sure things that didn't quite happen, all of which are accompanied by a concomitant accretion of barely perceptible victories that gradually amount to something. In other words, it all feels real." Manohla Dargis of The New York Times called the film "a fairy tale in realist drag ... the kind of entertainment that goes down smoothly until it gets stuck in your craw ... It's the same old bootstraps story, an American dream artfully told, skillfully sold.
Both usually have a bevelled cutting edge similar to that on Diagonal pliers in their craw, and each may include an additional gripping, crimping, or wire shearing (for a flat ended cut) device at the crux of the handle side of the pliers' joint. Designed for potentially heavy manual operation, these pliers typically are machined from forged steel and the two handles precisely joined with a heavy-duty rivet that maintains the pliers' accuracy even after repeated use under extreme force on heavy-gauge wire. They usually have grips for better handling than bare metal handles; the grips may also provide insulation for protection against electric shock when working with live circuits, although most models are marked as not listed for such use. Some pliers are certified to withstand a specified voltage, e.g.
In the early 1970s, Kelley moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and, along with Craig Pyes, founded SunDance, an underground magazine funded by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Kelley joined the staff of the Berkeley Barb in February 1973 and became managing editor that summer. "But he has turned many chores over to his managing editor, who is Ken Kelley, now 22 and a veteran underground newspaper worker ... Young Kelley went to Ann Arbor to be a chemistry major, managed three semesters before it stuck in his craw and left to write for underground newspapers ... He has been with the Barb since February." Alongside fellow Berkeley Barb columnists Dancing Bear and Gabrielle Schang, Kelley was a correspondent on Earthquake News, a 1973 alternative television news pilot in San Francisco.
Beginning with Little Tokyo, U.S.A in 1942, Strong played a gamut of roles as Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Thais, etc. in films such as Dragon Seed (1944), Up in Arms (1944), Jack London (1943), Salute to the Marines (1943), Behind the Rising Sun (1943), Night Plane from Chungking (1943), Bombardier (1943), Underground Agent (1942), and Manila Calling (1942). He played the Thai interpreter in both Anna and the King of Siam and its musical remake The King and I. Strong also appeared in the movie Shane (1953) as homesteader Ernie Wright. Strong achieved some pop culture notoriety for his role on television as "The Claw" on Get Smart, where Agent Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) is unable to understand Strong as he announces his evil nickname of “The Claw”; confused, Smart calls the villain “The Craw”, causing Strong to continuously correct him.
He was guided around the city by his friend Richard Hughes, the Australian correspondent for The Sunday Times; Hughes was later the model for the character Dikko Henderson in You Only Live Twice, as well as for "Old Craw" in John le Carré's The Honourable Schoolboy. Fleming stayed just three days in Hong Kong, before he and Hughes flew to Tokyo where they were joined by Torao Saito—also known as "Tiger"—a journalist with the Asahi Shimbun newspaper group. Saito later became the model for the character Tiger Tanaka in You Only Live Twice. Fleming spent three days in Tokyo and decided there would be "no politicians, museums, temples, Imperial palaces or Noh plays, let alone tea ceremonies" on his itinerary; he instead visited a judo academy, a Japanese soothsayer and the Kodokan, a local gymnasium.
The deepest canyon in the world, the Indus Gorge with Nanga Parbat, the world's 9th highest mountain rising to the south. The Indus river passes through a gigantic gorges that is 4,500–5,200 metres (15,000–17,000 feet) deep near the Nanga Parbat massif. In the Nanga Parbat region, the massive amounts of erosion due to the Indus river following the capture and rerouting through that area is thought to bring middle and lower crustal rocks to the surface.Zeitler, Peter K.; Koons, Peter O.; Bishop, Michael P.; Chamberlain, C. The biotic index works by assigning different levels of tolerance to pollution to the different types of organisms. The types of macro invertebrates and other organisms found during sampling are broken into 4 groups: # Pollution intolerant: These organisms are highly sensitive to pollution (Stonefly or Alderfly Larva) # Semi-Pollution intolerant: These organisms are sensitive to pollution (Dragonfly Larva or Craw fish) # Semi-Pollution tolerant: These organisms will be found in clean and slightly polluted waterways (Snails or Black Fly Larva) # Pollution tolerant: These organisms will be found in polluted, as well as clean aquatic ecosystems (Leeches, Blood worms) Some index worksheets combine groups 2 and 3 together, giving only 3 groups. Each group has a number assigned to it and is multiplied by the number of organisms found in that group. This is why identifying the type of organism is important.
Ohio State appeared to take control of the game right from the opening kickoff, when Rex Kern kept the ball and ran for 25 yards on the first play from scrimmage. Jim Otis would carry the next three plays for another first down. The Buckeyes got the ball to the Michigan 11, when the Wolverine defense ended the drive on a fourth down-and-two to take over. Michigan failed to get a first down, and the Buckeyes would get the ball back and get on the scoreboard first, on a 1-yard touchdown run by Otis. A missed extra-point left the score 6–0 in favor of the scarlet-and-gray. Glenn Doughty would return the kickoff to the Michigan 44, and Don Moorhead would lead a drive downfield, primarily getting the ball to tight end and captain Jim Mandich. Once Michigan got the ball to the Ohio State 3, Schembechler called a basic off-tackle play, and Garvie Craw would score to tie it up. The Frank Titas extra-point put Michigan ahead 7–6.
View of southern end of Pearson Island Rock formations and southern end of South Pearson Island Northern anchorage of Pearson Island "The Craw" rock formation on the northern side of Pearson Island Pearson Island is located about south west by west of Cape Finniss and about south west of Flinders Island. It is the largest of four islands that form the island group known as the Pearson Isles or the Pearson Islands.DMH, 1985, chart 38 It consists of one land mass with two relatively smaller peaks rising out of the sea in an arc extending to the south east via a spit of rock connected to its most southerly point. The arc encloses a bay known as “Anchorage Cove” which is sheltered from the weather both from the west and the south and which can be respectively used as an anchorage and as a landing point. The three parts of the island are informally referred to in one source respectively as the “north section”, the “middle section” and the “south section”.
From Argentia, the blimps flew approximately 22 hours to Lajes Field on Terceira Island in the Azores. The final leg of the first transatlantic crossing was about a 20-hour flight from the Azores to Craw Field in Port Lyautey (Kenitra), French Morocco. The first pair of K-ships were followed by K-109 & K-134 and K-112 & K-101 which left South Weymouth on 11 and 27 June 1944, respectively. These six blimps initially conducted nighttime anti-submarine warfare operations to complement the daytime missions flown by FAW-15 aircraft (PBYs and B-24s) using magnetic anomaly detection to locate U-boats in the relatively shallow waters around the Straits of Gibraltar. Later, ZP-14 K-ships conducted minespotting and minesweeping operations in key Mediterranean ports and various escort missions including that of the convoy carrying Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill to the Yalta Conference in early 1945. In late April 1945, K-89 and K-114 left Weeksville NAS in North Carolina and flew a southern transatlantic route to NAS Bermuda, the Azores, and Port Lyautey where they arrived on 1 May 1945 as replacements for Blimp Squadron ZP-14.
'Furious' enthusiasts were 'disgusted' that their cover had been blown and particularly disliked the fact that the band's name contained the name of their town, as for many people this performance was their first encounter with the subculture which had previously been kept underground, and many in the industry see the release of this record as a pivotal moment in the decline of Northern soul (the night of the Top of the Pops airing was described as 'the night that Wigan Casino died'). Indeed, soon after the release of this record, attendance at the Wigan Casino rapidly increased forcing the venue to stop accepting new members, many of those attending only recently becoming aware of the subculture through the television broadcast. Stuart Maconie described the song as 'a bland, modernised, easier to licence version of a classic Northern tune originally by US artists', and said it 'really stuck in the purists' craw even then'. Even though the recording 'horrified the purists', the song entered the UK singles chart and reached a peak of number 12 on 15 March 1975, and stayed in the chart for 10 weeks.
From 1971 the AMC Hornet was campaigned in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) races. Hornets ran in GTO class (Grand Touring type with engines of 2.5 L or more) and American Challenge (AC) class. American Motors provided only limited support in the form of technical help. The cars were gutted and powered by highly modified AMC 232 straight-six engines.Mitchell, pp. 110–113. In 1973, AMC cars very nearly placed 1-2-3, in a BF Goodrich Radial Challenge Series race, but Bob Hennig driving an AMC Hornet went out while in third place with only six laps to go. BMW driver Nick Craw and AMC Hornet driver Amos Johnson ended the IMSA series as co-champions in Class B. On 6 February 1977, out of 57 cars that started the 24 Hours of Daytona, Championship of Makes, at Daytona International Speedway, an AMC Hornet driven by Tom Waugh, John Rulon- Miller, and Bob Punch drove car #15 to 22nd place overall and 12th in the GTO class by completing 394 laps in . Amos Johnson drove car #7, an AC Class Hornet, in the 100 mile Road Atlanta race on 17 April 1977, as well as with co-driver Dennis Shaw to finish 11th in the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit on 24 July 1977.
