Initially white, the stem develops orange/violet spots and later brownish orange spots; in old specimens the stem may be brownish brick red. The tubes on the pore surface (underside of the cap) are about 2.5–3 mm long and decurrent in attachment. The pores are small, measuring about 2–3 per millimeter.
The western subalpine warbler (Curruca iberiae) is a small typical warbler which breeds in the southernmost areas of Europe and north-western Africa. Like most Curruca species, it has distinct male and female plumages. The adult male has a grey back and head, brick-red underparts, and white malar streaks ("moustaches"). The female is mainly brown above, with a greyer head, and whitish below with a pink flush.
Young leaves have long silky caducous hairs, and retain some pubescence on their undersides at maturity. Leaves and male flowers The trees are dioecious, with the usually salmon to brick red flowers appearing in early spring before the leaves fully unfurl. Staminate (male) flowers are held in 8 to 10 flowered nodding fascicle-like racemes. The slender pedicels are pilose or glabrate and from 2 to 4cm long.
The salamander's color can range from brick red to yellow but usually is found as a light brown shade. The light stripe from the eye to the jaw designates the salamanders as a desmognathan. Desmognathus wrighti typically has six vomerine teeth on each side of the mouth along with premaxillary and mandible teeth. The maximum size of males and females has been determined to have no real difference in the species.
The crest consists of a golden and blue wreath on which stands a gold griffin. Atop the distinctive unit insignia is a brick red scroll inscribed "Wolf Hounds" in gold. Symbolism In heraldry, the griffin represents vigilance and readiness. For Michigan, it also harkens to French explorer René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle whose ship, Le Griffon, was the first European vessel to sail the upper Great Lakes.
Adults are reddish brown or brick-red dorsally, with three black stripes, which may be either continuous or interrupted. The young are dark brown or black dorsally, with two or more narrow yellowish stripes, yellowish ventrally, with a brown dot on each ventral scale. Juveniles also have yellowish transverse markings behind the shielded part of the head, which may resemble an incomplete collar. Adults may attain a total length of .
Psylliodes luridipennis adults are oblong-ovate, and the same size and build as P. hyoscyami, but not as broad, measuring between 2.8 and 3.6 mm in length. They have a brassy-green head and thorax, shining reddish-brown elytra and brassy- green legs. The hind femora are brassy in colour but paler at the base, and the antennae are brick-red. The adults are fully winged, and are capable of flight.
Adult Cryptagama aurita are very squat, with short limbs with a blunt-tipped tail that is shorter than its body. They range in colour from pale reddish brown to brick red, with pale brownish grey on its head and back. They reach a total length (including tail) of about . Living in areas of spinifex and gibber plains, they have evolved to mimic the look of a gibber stone.
4d Cape Triangular, SG 19 Stamps were first issued by the colony on 1 September 1853. The two stamps that were issued were a one penny in brick-red and a four pence in blue. The unusual shape of the stamps was probably inspired by the large triangular obliterator used by the Cape Revenue Department from 1839. The stamps were printed by Messrs Perkins, Bacon & Co in London.
There are 5 narrow triangular sepals which are scaly on the outer surface, hairy on the inside and long. The petals are long and joined at their lower end to form a tube. The petal tube is a pink to a dull brick-red, sometimes yellow. The outside surface is scaly and the inside of the petal lobes is hairy but the inside of the tube is filled with soft hairs.
They are spiny and brick-red. Urediniospores are the only type of spores in the rust fungus life cycle that are capable of infecting the host on which they are produced, and this is therefore referred to as the 'repeating stage' of the life cycle. It is the spread of urediniospores that allows infection to spread from one cereal plant to another. This phase can rapidly spread the infection over a wide area.
This ceramic tradition is most associated with the Solano site in the southeastern Valley of Guatemala and the most characteristic type is a brick-red ware covered with a bright orange micaceous slip, sometimes painted with pink or purple decoration.Popenoe de Hatch 1987, p. 158. This style of ceramics has been associated with the highland K'iche' Maya. These new ceramics did not replace the pre-existing Ocosito complex but rather became mingled with them.
Along the sides of the arms, the plates have four lobes. The colour of the aboral surface varies from yellow and pale orange to brick red, and deep water individuals may be violet. The oral (under) surface is a paler colour and has two rows of white tube feet on either side of the ambulacral groove which runs along the centre of each arm. The mouth is surrounded by distinctive, shovel-shaped plates.
The Ashdown Formation typically comprises sandstones, siltstones and mudstones. In the east of the county, the formation tends to be more argillaceous in its lowermost part and fines up to a sandier division in the uppermost 30 to 50m. The clays are identified by their characteristic purple and brick-red mottled nature. In early references, these variations give rise to the division of the formation into the ‘Fairlight Clays’ and the ‘Ashdown Sands’.
Agonopterix robiniella, the four-dotted agonopterix moth or locust leaf roller, is a moth of the family Depressariidae. It is found in North America, where it has been recorded to appear in places from Nova Scotia to Georgia, west to Oklahoma, north to Illinois, Michigan and southern Ontario.mothphotographersgroup The wingspan is about 16–20 mm. The forewings are yellow, mottled and overlaid with brick red and irrorated (speckled) and shaded with fuscous and black.
Vanadium metal reacts with dinitrogen tetroxide with an acetonitrile catalyst at 0 °C to yield mononitratodioxovanadium(V), VO2NO3, a brick red solid. Mononitratodioxovanadium easily dissolves in water to make an orange solution, but this is unstable forming a deep brown gel after a day. VO2NO3 cannot be crystallized from the solution, instead vanadium pentoxide results when a solution is evaporated. Also if VO2NO3 is heated at 350 °C, vanadium pentoxide solid is left behind.
Tympanum is absent, and the supratympanic fold is weak. The fingers and toes have no webbing nor lateral fringes; the digital tips are slightly swollen. Skin of the dorsum is tuberculate; dorsolateral folds are present. Coloration is variable; dorsal and lateral ground coloration vary in various shades of reds, browns, and greens (cinnamon, grayish horn color, pale pinkish buff, light russet vinaceous, robin rufous, brick red, brussels brown, brownish olive, and peacock green).
BeO is amphoteric. Beryllium sulfide, selenide and telluride are known, all having the zincblende structure. Beryllium nitride, Be3N2 is a high-melting-point compound which is readily hydrolyzed. Beryllium azide, BeN6 is known and beryllium phosphide, Be3P2 has a similar structure to Be3N2. A number of beryllium borides are known, such as Be5B, Be4B, Be2B, BeB2, BeB6 and BeB12. Beryllium carbide, Be2C, is a refractory brick-red compound that reacts with water to give methane.
This colour predominates to such a degree as in other species is only the case in melanistic aberrations. Also the ground-colour of the underside is duller than in all the other Argynnis, the hindwing varying from dark brick-red to cinnamon-brown, only the median band being dark yellow. In the Alps, but at moderates heights in the forest region, not above 6000 ft. Also in the high North, Scandinavia and Finland.
Variety borealis has a slightly darker color scheme than the main species. The coloration in general is darker; the cap can vary from a bright apple red to a dark brick red with maturity, to almost purple in some instances. The pore surface has a varying coloration of orange red to red and becoming a dull brown red with age. The bruising coloration is a blue green and the spore print is olive brown.
Later a town appeared around the fortification. The tower is often called Bielaja Vieža (alternative transliteration: Belaya Vezha), which means White Tower or White Fortress in Belarusian, because after its foundation it was tiled in white. The neighboring primeval forest of Belavezhskaya Pushcha received its name, which also means White Tower, through association with the tower. However, today the color of the castle is brick-red, having weathered through the ages, not white.
The pupae of Z. tuberculatus have a brick red color. The anterior branches belonging to Z. tuberculatus are clubbed type and vary in number from 11 to 14. The puparial shape (Puparial length:PI) of Z. tuberculatus is 2.59. Puparial shape is an important measurement because it distinguishes Z. tuberculatus from several closely related fly species, including Z. inermis (puparial shape =2.62), Z. cercus (puparial shape =2.40), and Z. burlai (puparial shape = 2.29).
The ceiling of the nave and the sides of the recesses are no longer brilliantly coloured. The nave's ceiling is painted a brick red and the ceiling above the chancel is blue. Originally the church was intentionally set amongst eucalyptus trees; however, in the intervening years these have been removed and the site is planted with exotic species. St Peter's Anglican Church was closed and deconsecrated in November 2015 due to declining congregation numbers.
The exterior of the object is primarily a brickred brick, while the interior is a cream-colored brick. On the front and rear sides of the chimney, there is a small stone sculpture of the face a child (cherub). The front and rear arches are approximately five feet tall from the center to the base, and approximately five feet wide. The side arches are smaller, about five feet tall and four feet across.
Uromastix princeps can reach a body length (including the tail) of about .Projekt Uromastyx The body color may show various shades of olive-gray, greenish or blue, with small brown spots. In males, the back is brown-red or green with small dark spots, while the belly is yellowish and the tail is gray-green or brick-red. The females are gray-brown with a reddish tinge and small spots on top.
On a visit to England, Harrison had seen the paint scheme used by the London and North Eastern Railway, which used apple green-painted engines. Returning home in 1925, he ordered the newly delivered Pacifics painted a forest green, which he called Virginia, with gold lettering and silver trim. The roof of each engine was painted brick red. These engines pulled the newly refurbished passenger trains that Harrison had begun work on before the war.
Brick-red 'Wonder' records were also pressed for the 'Double-Bell Wonder' talking machine by the Scranton Button Works from pirated Berliner masters. Fewer than fifty 'Double-Bell Wonders' were produced of both iterations combined. Conn's first factory was destroyed by fire 29 January 1883 (his thirty-ninth birthday), and he erected a new building on the same site. In 1886 rumors began to circulate that Conn wanted to move his business to Massachusetts.
The Queen Anne Style brick residence was designed by Frank Thayer for Lorin P. Cray, a civic leader, judge and philanthropist. Built in 1897 at a cost of $13,000, the house is constructed of buff brick, red brick, pink granite and Kasota limestone. It features towers, porch, columns, side balcony and stained, etched and beveled glass windows typical of the period. The property once included a carriage house, which was demolished to make room for a YWCA annex.
The leaves are flat, a dull brick red, and 12 to 40 cm long and 1 to 3.5 mm wide. The leaf base is sometimes densely matted with woolly hairs, but these often abrade to make the leaf smooth. The leaf margins have bristles/hairs which are 0 to 2 mm long, and there are some small side branches at the base. The scape is hairy and 15 to 40 cm long, usually longer than the leaves.
South Hills - Idaho The Cassia crossbill shares many physical features with the red crossbill and all of its different call types. Adult males display a brick red plumage along its crown, breast, and belly, while its flight feathers have a brown colour. In contrast, adult females have an overall dull green or olive- yellow colour, with brown flight feathers. Its defining feature, a crossed bill, is a crisscrossed bill used to access the pine cone seeds.
The thorax and heads of female L. cressonii appear to be a brassy green color, but the area below the ocelli appears dull. They are also characterized by deep, distinctive, and coarse punctures on the face that get smaller as they move outwards from the center. The scutellum is medially rugoso-punctate and becomes more distinctly punctate on the sides. Its wings have a glassy appearance and its veins and stigma have a dull brick-red color.
Adults of this species have an average snout-vent length (SVL) of 50mm, with a total body length of 110mm. Individuals in this species can range in colour from pale yellowish brown to brick red and often present with pale banding across the body and darker banding along the length of the tail. The head is rounded with predominately smooth or slightly rugose scales. Scales on the body less smooth and interspersed with larger spinose scales.
The leaves are bilobed, each having a symmetrical pair of rounded lobes joined symmetrically about a midrib, with a small, soft mucronule in the notch at the tip. The resulting shape gave rise to the Afrikaans popular name "kameelpoot", meaning "camel's foot". The mucronule is fragile and frequently is missing as a result of minor damage. The flowers in the wild generally are a handsome brick red, but some cultivars have pink or orange-red flowers.
In this temple, local people change lingo every year. The lingo is a timber whose length is approximately more than 52 feet which are colored with brick red color and a huge cloth is stitched around it, which makes it looks like a triangular flag. People strongly believe that something wrong is going to happen if that lingo is broken during the change. This lingo replacement ceremony is held during Ghatasthapana, which is the first day of Dashain.
The Ochoa Point Member is thick and forms steep slopes and cliffs below the Cardenas Basalt. The Dox Formation that directly underlies the Cardenas Basalt consists of brick-red to vermilion well-bedded sandstone, with parallel bedding and shaly partings, forming smooth slopes. It also contains a thin, discontinuous basaltic lava flow.Lucchitta, I, and JD Hendricks (1983) Characteristics, depositional environment and tectonic interpretations of the Proterozoic Cardenas Lavas, eastern Grand Canyon, Arizona. Geology. 11(3):177–181.
The holotype specimen is a complete adult female with an overall coloration that is brown to black, except the palpi, which are a dull brick red. The female is in length, with antennae that are approximately three times the length of the head and macropterous forewings. The antennae are composed of ten segments, densely hairy, and distinctly club-shaped (clavate) in structure. The forewings have three cells at the base that are formed by pigmented veins.
The height of the shell attains 10 mm. The solid, umbilicate shell has a conical shape and is pointed at the apex, slightly angled on the shoulder, rounded at the periphery and flattened on the base. It contains seven whorls. The colour, on the last three whorls, consists of oblique and zigzag brick-red stripes extending from suture to the periphery Between these as well as on the apex and base, the shell is pale cream.
There are 2-3 preventral scales, followed by 149-155 ventrals. The anal scale is single and followed by 23-30 paired subcaudals. The color pattern consists of a grayish ground color. Running along the midline from the back of the head to the tail is a series of about 30 transversed and pronounced white- and black-edged narrow bands separated by a brick-red brown zone 3-4 scales long and 9-12 scales wide.
Due to the infection, the stele of the root turns a wine to brick red, and starts to decay and die from the tip upwards. Red color of the roots does not necessarily guarantee the presence of P. fragariae infection. The most dependable way to determine if a plant has P. fragariae is the presence of microscopic oospores. Another symptom of P. fragariae is badly rooted lateral roots, starting to turn a grey or brown color.
The park was paid for in part by the donations of thousands of individuals who bought bricks engraved with the short message of their choice and laid as pavers throughout the park. The contribution for each brick was $35. The message was allowed 15 characters on each of two lines. The finished bricks were laid in alternating light (tan) and dark (brick red) groups comprising a large portion of the 800,000 bricks used in the park's construction.
The Bermudian yawl Capricia was built by Bengt Plym shipyard in Sweden, on a project by Sparkman & Stephens New York City (United States) (number 1645), the world-famous yacht design firm. The vessel is entirely made of wood: white oak for the structure, mahogany for the planking, teak for the deck, Canadian spruce for the masts. The original owner was Einar Hansen, Malmö, Sweden. Capricia has a copal-varnished hull and brick red sails that make her instantly recognisable.
The cap should have a dark brick red color when safe to eat. Drying the two-colored bolete is a good method for storage. It is important to note the time it takes for the two- colored bolete to bruise when identifying it for consumption; the mushroom should take several minutes to bruise compared to the instant bruising of Boletus sensibilis, which is poisonous and has many of the same visual characteristics of the two-colored bolete.
Barfoed's test is a chemical test used for detecting the presence of monosaccharides. It is based on the reduction of copper(II) acetate to copper(I) oxide (Cu2O), which forms a brick-red precipitate. ::RCHO + 2Cu2+ \+ 2H2O → RCOOH + Cu2O↓ + 4H+ (Disaccharides may also react, but the reaction is much slower.) The aldehyde group of the monosaccharide which normally forms a cyclic hemiacetal is oxidized to the carboxylate. A number of other substances, including sodium chloride, may interfere.
Cinnabar () or cinnabarite (), likely deriving from the (), is the bright scarlet to brick-red form of mercury(II) sulfide (HgS). It is the most common source ore for refining elemental mercury, and is the historic source for the brilliant red or scarlet pigment termed vermilion and associated red mercury pigments. Cinnabar generally occurs as a vein-filling mineral associated with recent volcanic activity and alkaline hot springs. The mineral resembles quartz in symmetry and in its exhibiting birefringence.
Cinnabar is generally found in a massive, granular or earthy form and is bright scarlet to brick-red in color, though it occasionally occurs in crystals with a nonmetallic adamantine luster. It resembles quartz in its symmetry. It exhibits birefringence, and it has the second highest refractive index of any mineral. Its mean refractive index is 3.08 (sodium light wavelengths), versus the indices for diamond and the non- mineral gallium(III) arsenide (GaAs), which are 2.42 and 3.93, respectively.
Ironically, the very evidence supporting a meteoritic impact uncovered in the quarrying process is systematically being destroyed. Such evidence includes a central bulge, dipped strata, the presence of “shatter cones” (although no longer as common as they may once have been), and, “impact breccia.” There are “red” and “yellow” varieties (more of a brick red and tan yellow) and sometimes a mixture of the two. The breccia contains many broken fragments (or shards) of quartzite and other rocks.
Initially (after 3–4 weeks), minute dull flakes, thickening to form dry irregular masses standing high above the culture medium surface. Eventually confluent growth over the whole culture surface, forming a rough waxy blanket, becoming thick and wrinkled and reaching up the sides of the container. Yellow when they are first visible, darkening to deep yellow and eventually brick red, if exposed to light. In fluid media, growth on the surface only, unless a wetting agent (e.g.
Patouillard is highly regarded for his taxonomical work in mycology, and during his career, he described numerous genera and species of fungi. The following are some of the genera that he is the taxonomic authority of: Guepiniopsis, Hirsutella, Lacrymaria, Leucocoprinus, Melanoleuca and Spongipellis. A mycological species called Inocybe patouillardii (brick-red tear mushroom) is one of the species named after him. He was the author of nearly 250 works, and was a leading authority on tropical mycology.
The forewings are whitish-grey, irrorated with brick red and with pale fuscous markings. The costal edge is whitish and there is a minute dot in the disc at one-fourth, a second beyond it on the fold and a third in the middle. There is a slender dentate line from the midcosta outwards, curved to the dorsum before the tornus. There is a series of small dots on the apical fourth of the costa and on the termen.
Moving to Minute Maid Park (originally Enron Field) in 2000, the Astros took to the field wearing vintage-inspired uniforms. For the first time, navy was not part of the team's palette, and the Astros uniforms featured brick red, sand and black colors. The colors were inspired by the location of their new ballpark which formerly housed a railroad depot. Primary home uniforms featured black pinstripes with "Astros" in black script letters and numbers in red.
Red Mountain is a 7,658 ft summit in the North Cascades Range of Washington, United States. It is located in Skagit County and within North Cascades National Park and the Stephen Mather Wilderness. It is situated on a smooth ridge of brick-red color at the western culmination of Ragged Ridge. Like many peaks of the North Cascades, Red Mountain is more notable for its large, steep rise above local terrain than for its absolute elevation.
The forewings are brownish fuscous, heavily overlaid with brick-red scales. The base of the wing and costa to the middle are light grey. The light-grey scaling diminishes beyond the middle of the wing and the extreme costal edge is bright pink spotted with black. There is much black scaling along the costa, inside the greyish area and along the veins toward the apex, as well as a conspicuous white spot encircled with black scales at the end of the cell.
The clear warm waters enable divers to view them 100 feet beneath the sea. In the 21st century, the Lionfish, a poisonous non- native invasive species with sharp spiny fins and brick red bands covering its body, has been found in these waters, alarming conservationists. Lionfish were previously thought to inhabit only the tropical and subtropical waters of the South Pacific, Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. Diving activities include underwater photography clinics as well as shark and spear fishing dives.
To gain the desired black color, the chili peppers have to be well toasted but not burnt. Mole amarillo contains green tomatoes, onion, garlic, cumin, cloves, ancho chili peppers, guajillo chili peppers, hoja santa or cilantro and is garnished with onions, lime and oregano. Mole coloradito is brick red in color and contains ancho chili peppers, tomatoes, garlic, sesame seeds, almonds, cinnamon and oregano. Mancha manteles is red and uses ancho chili peppers, tomatoes, garlic, onion, thyme, cloves and almonds.
As their common names imply, most snakes of the genus Storeria are a variant of brown in color. The brown can vary depending on locale, to be almost a brick red in color, to nearly black. They sometimes have a lighter-colored stripe down the center of the back, and small black blotches along the body, and just behind the head. The underside is usually lighter brown-colored, yellow, or in the case of the redbelly snake, reddish in color.
The most noticeable feature on a large scale is the brick-red color, caused by oxidation of iron minerals in the rock. This color is periodically interrupted by streaks and spots of reduced iron, a light bluish- gray shade. Near the top of the formation is a thick layer of gypsum of very high quality. The whole rock is interrupted by gypsum veins as well as having a disrupted texture because of the precipitation of gypsum crystals after deposition of the rock.
The height of the shell attains 3.25 mm, its diameter 4.5 mm. The red-brown shell has a depressed-conical shape and is profoundly umbilicated. The five whorls show a microscopic sculpture of fine radial threads that overrun the spirals and are more apparent on the base. In colour it is variable, the figured example has walnut-brown radial flames on a grey ground, in others the flames are brick red and in some the flames break up into small chequers.
Retrieved July 7, 2017.Moth Photographers Group at Mississippi State University The wingspan is about 17 mm. The costal half of the forewings whitish is yellow sprinkled with light ochreous-brown scales, while the dorsal half is brick red. At the basal third is a small black costal spot and on middle of the cell is small black dot, below and nearer the base another similar dot on the fold, and at the end of the cell is a third.
In the east of the county, the formation tends to be more argillaceous, or clayey, in its lowermost part and fines up to a sandier division in the uppermost 30 to 50m. The clays are identified by their characteristic purple and brick-red mottled nature. In early references, these variations give rise to the division of the formation into the ‘Fairlight Clays’ and the ‘Ashdown Sands’. However, it is now considered as one due to the impersistence of the clays across the Weald.
The CAMP factor acts synergistically with the staphylococcal β-haemolysin inducing enhanced haemolysis of sheep or bovine erythrocytes. GBS is also able to hydrolyse hippurate, and this test can also be used to identify GBS. Haemolytic GBS strains produce an orange-brick-red nonisoprenoid polyene pigment (ornythinrhamnododecaene) (granadaene) when cultivated on granada medium that allows its straightforward identification. Identification of GBS could also be carried out easily using modern methods as matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry.
When perched, a small amount of black can be seen in the wings; these are the flight feathers. Bright red skin occurs around the eyes, which are yellow in adults. The legs are brick red and the bill is bright yellow with a black tip. James's flamingo is similar to other South American flamingos, but the Chilean flamingo is pinker, with a longer bill without yellow, and the Andean flamingo is larger with more black in the wings and bill, and yellow legs.
With red-necked stint, Manly Marina, SE Queensland, Australia From India Calidris ferruginea – MHNT These birds are small waders, similar to dunlins, but differ in having a longer down-curved beak, longer neck and legs and a white rump. They have a length of , weight of 44-117 g and wingspan of . The breeding adult has patterned dark grey upperparts and brick-red underparts. In winter, this bird is pale grey above and white below, and shows an obvious white supercilium.
Several qualitative tests are used to detect the presence of reducing sugars. Two of them use solutions of copper(II) ions: Benedict's reagent (Cu2+ in aqueous sodium citrate) and Fehling's solution (Cu2+ in aqueous sodium tartrate). The reducing sugar reduces the copper(II) ions in these test solutions to copper(I), which then forms a brick red copper(I) oxide precipitate. Reducing sugars can also be detected with the addition of Tollen's reagent, which consist of silver ions (Ag+) in aqueous ammonia.
Where redeposited along the river valleys, those kali soils are deeper and heavier, better suited for rabi crops. Farther away, with a better mixture of lime, the morand soils form the ideal Kharif zone. The higher plateau areas have pather soils, which contain more gravel. In the rainy Konkan, and the Sahyadri Range, the same basalts give rise to the brick-red laterites productive under a forest-cover, but readily stripped into a sterile varkas when the vegetation is removed.
Wheat infected leaves with stem rust pathogen with a specific resistance gene Stem rust on wheat is characterized by the presence of uredinia on the plant, which are brick-red, elongated, blister-like pustules that are easily shaken off. They most frequently occur on the leaf sheaths, but are also found on stems, leaves, glumes and awns. On leaves they develop mostly on the underside but may penetrate to the upperside. On leaf sheaths and glumes pustules rupture the epidermis, giving a ragged appearance.
49 The metarhyolite making up much of the formation is reddish orange in color, but ranges from brick red to light pink. It includes relict phenocrysts of quartz and microcline and most outcrops show drag-folded flow bands. Some outcrops contain relict phenocrysts of albite- oligoclase. All of the phenocrysts have been reoriented about axes parallel to that of the drag-folded flow bands. Phenocryst size is from 0.02 to over 5 mm but typically 0.5 mm and show resorption or recrystallization to aggregates of smaller grains.
Eremophila pterocarpa subspecies acicularis is a shrub growing to high. The branches have raised lumps, especially near their ends and the leaves are narrow, linear to needle-like, long and wide. The leaves and stems are covered with powder-like short, matted hairs. Unlike those in subspecies pterocarpa, the leaf bases are not twisted The flowers are brick- red on their outer surface, orange inside the petal tube, lack spots and are arranged singly in the leaf axils on a stalk which is long.
The forewing upperside ground colour is purplish-brown with a slight violet gloss and a broad diffuse dark brown band running from the middle of the costa to the tornus, below which are two faint paler spots. The submarginal band is paler, crenulated and thicker at costa. The forewing underside basal three-quarters are uniform brick red, but paler at the costa and along the inner margin. The hindwing upperside is orange with narrow dark brown margin through which the orange ground colour almost reaches the margins.

The landscape is characterized by brick-red sandhills and grey clay flats. The Barkindji today derive from several dialects, all speaking variations of the same language or Barlku. Historically these dialects were distinct groups, but with colonisation these groups are more singularly recognised as Bsarkindji today, with the language, Barkindji barlku and intermarriage linking these smaller dialect groups together in far western nsw. Baarundji Wilyakali - wilyali Pulakali - Pulaali Pantjikali - Pantjarli Wanyuparlku - wanyuwalku Barkindji Barrindji Thankakali - Dhangaali Marawara - maraura The land was harsh: drought was not rare.
Khan drew his first recruits from the young men who had graduated from his schools. Trained and uniformed, they served behind their officers and filed out into various villages to seek recruits. They began by wearing a simple white overshirt, but the white was soon dirtied. A couple of men had their shirts dyed at the local tannery, and the brick-red colour proved a breakthrough, it was this distinctive colour that earned the Khudai khidmatgar movement activists the name "the Red shirts" or surkh posh.
Myrtle–Wyckoff Avenues on the BMT Canarsie Line (originally named Myrtle Avenue) is an underground station, was opened on July 14, 1928, and has two tracks with an island platform. A mosaic band is set at eye level, rather than high up on the wall, with brick red, yellow, tan and light blue offset by indigo and maroon. Unlike other Canarsie Line island platform stations, there are no visible girders in the walls. The ceiling is also lower than those at the other island platform stations.
Calcareous nodules are also found in the mudstone layers and become more frequent up section into the UEF. The mudstones range in colour from greyish purple red in the LEF and turn a more brick red colour with more mature palaeosols in the UEF. Localized intraformational pebble conglomerates that comprise intrabasinal clasts that comprise mud chips, quartzite pebbles, pedogenic nodules, and fossil bone fragments only occur in the UEF. The lower and upper Elliot formations both contain sandstones but they vary in their internal geometries.
The light Ada clay was replaced by brick-red local clay in 1953. John Frank operated the pottery with his wife Grace Lee Frank until his death in 1973. The factory was rebuilt in 1984 after a September 1983 fire destroyed most of the facility; the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 1990. The Frank's daughter Joniece ran the pottery until 1991 when she was forced to sell the struggling company; the purchaser, Richard Bernstein of Maryland, resold the business in 2005 to Det Merryman.
At a distance, the rock shag is a black and white bird, with head, neck and upperparts black and chest and underparts white. Closer up, the black areas vary from metallic blue to oily green, and are flecked with white in places. The legs and feet are a pink, fleshy colour, and the bare flesh around the beak and eyes is brick red. In breeding condition, there is a blackish though not very prominent crest on the forehead, and a distinctive white ear patch.
The upperside of the wings is uniform glossy dark brown. The underside of the forewings is uniform dull medium brown, while the hindwings are medium brown with a faint ripple-like pattern, suffused with brick red and orange gradually becoming more intense towards the anal margin. There is a faint anal wedge of sparse yellow scales., 2004: Pronophiline butterflies of the highlands of Chachapoyas in northern Peru: faunal survey, diversity and distribution patterns (Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae, Satyrinae) Genus 15 (4): Full article: 455-622 PDF.
The fruitbodies (ascocarps) of Geopyxis carbonaris are cup shaped, 1–2 cm wide, and have fringed whitish margins. The inner spore-bearing surface of the cup, the hymenium, is brick red and smooth, while the exterior surface is a dull yellow, and may be either smooth or have blister-like spots (pustules). The stipe is small (1–1.5 mm long and 1–2 mm wide), whitish in color, and expands abruptly into the cup. The brownish flesh of the fungus is thin and brittle.
This species of eremophila has been grown in many parts of Australia for many years. It is a hardy and reliable shrub for larger gardens and bears masses of brick red or dusky pink flowers as well as being attractive to nectar-feeding birds. It is easy to propagate from cuttings and the shrub will grow in most soils, including heavy clay, in full sun or part shade. It is drought tolerant, rarely requiring extra water even during a long dry spell and is very frost tolerant.
A nearly circular tympanum is located behind and below the eye and is covered with a dark scale. The scales of the head are generally smallish and irregular, becoming small and pebbly on the neck. Many of the scales are colored pale yellow to brick red, especially those on the top of the head, above the tympanum, around the nostrils, on the lower jaw, and on the sides of the neck. Males are usually slightly more colorful than females, and colors vary by region.
The red-eared guenon is a small, colourful monkey with distinctive facial markings which involve blue fur around its eyes, a brick-red nose and ears, and yellow cheeks. The silky fur on the body consists of banded brown and pale hairs with grey limbs and a long, red tail. The long tails are partially prehensile and are used by infants to cling to the female. The red-eared guenon is an unobtrusive species which produces a quiet trill, unlike the loud long- distance calls made by other guenons.
Dryinus grimaldii females ranges in size from with an overall body coloration thought to have been brick-red to brownish-yellow. The chelae on the front pair of legs are modified into claws each with a pair of teeth just below the claw apex. The morphology of the claw is a key distinguishing feature between D. grimaldii and D. rasnitsyni, which has a much more spatulate shaped claw then that of D. grimaldii. The antennae of D. grimaldii are notably long, being over nine times the length of the head, with a filiform morphology.
Tiefling villains often live up to this reputation, whereas player characters have the choice to abandon this stereotype. In 4th edition and later, tieflings are a core character race and have had their appearance altered from 3.5 and earlier. All tieflings possess large thick horns of various styles on their heads, prehensile tails approximately 4 to 5 feet in length, sharply pointed teeth, and their eyes are solid orbs of red, black, white, silver, or gold. Tiefling skin ranges through common human shades right into the reds, ranging from brick red to a ruddy tan.
Experienced saffron buyers often have rules of thumb when deliberating on their purchases. They may look for threads exhibiting a vivid crimson colouring, slight moistness, and elasticity. They reject threads displaying the telltale dull brick-red colouring--indicative of old stock--and broken-off debris collected at the container's bottom, indicative of age- related brittle dryness. Such aged samples are most likely encountered around the main June harvest season, when retailers attempt to clear out the previous season's old inventory and make room for the new season's crop.
The upperside of the abdomen has a broad, grey dorsal stripe and the lateral stripe is vivid yellow. The forewing upperside is similar to Xylophanes rhodochlora, but the ground colour is bronzy green with pearly reflections, the discal spot is smaller and the first and fourth postmedian lines are darker green, highlighted along their inner edges in pearly grey. The fringe is orange. The marginal area of the forewing underside is of the same general brick-red colour as the rest of the wing, barely delineated by a grey line.
GBS is also able to hydrolyze hippurate and this test can also be used to identify presumptively GBS. Hemolytic GBS strains produce an orange-brick-red non-isoprenoid polyene pigment (granadaene) when cultivated on granada medium that allows its straightforward identification. GBS can also be identified using MALDI-TOF (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization- Time of Flight) instruments. GBS colonies can additionally be identified tentatively after their appearance in chromogenic agar media, nevertheless GBS-like colonies that develop in chromogenic media should be confirmed as GBS using additional reliable tests (e.g.
Desert death adders are members of the genus Acanthophis, highly venomous elapids with short and thick bodies, triangular heads, mobile fangs, and a thin tapering tail. They grow to lengths up to 70 centimeters, with a snout to vent length of 62 cm, and have a flattened appearance. Desert death adders are coloured brick-red, or yellow-reddish, with strong or inconspicuous yellow bands which are camouflaged with their surroundings. The tail tip is used as a lure to attract potential prey and is distinctively darker in colour.
The wingspan is 23–29 mm. Forewing rosy red, or bright brick red without markings; hindwing pale grey: abdomen whitish with rosy anal segment; the male of this form is dull pink, with the costa and all the veins broadly dark grey and sometimes a trace of the dark outer line of dots; hindwing darker grey; in neither sex is there any tint of yellow or fulvous; the form fulva Hbn. is fulvous rufous with the veins and outer line of spots dark, especially the median vein; - ab. ochracea Tutt is yellow ochreous.
Turley planted bougainvillea in several locations in the park, popularising the plant to an extent where it was voted as the floral emblem of Ipswich in 1930. One variety, which has a brick red flower, is called Turley's Special after him. Sculpture, 2010 In the 1930s Depression a number of large- scale works including the construction of walls, gates and terracing were carried out in the park by relief labour. The park curator's house was relocated to the current site and in 1936 enclosures were built to accommodate a menagerie.
The first 415-0 series sets allocated to Kyushu were 4-car units delivered in December 1974. These were formed KuHa 411-300 + MoHa 415 + MoHa 414 + KuHa 411-300. Originally delivered in the JNR livery of brick red ("Red No. 13") with cream ("Cream No. 4") warning panels on the cab ends, these sets were repainted between 1986 and 1987 into a new livery of white with blue bodyside stripe, carried up until the present day. Some sets later received life-extension refurbishment with transverse seating replaced by longitudinal seating.
These eight "twisted" apartments with their protruding loggias give the building a distinctive side view and also add interest to the main view through its flanks, which are executed in concrete plaster. The underside of the balconies were painted in powedery blue, the side balconies separating the adjoining balconies were brick-red, the building overhang of the eastern narrow side was emphasized by an dusky pink color. The four entrance doors are bright red, yellow, blue and green. The north-facing view is marked by the four tower-like staircase and elevator shafts.

In addition to the white gaur, the majority of the animals in these herds ranged from brick red to light red. In the first herd of 11, there were only four normal-colored gaur, and in the second herd of six, only two normal-colored individuals. This was the first record of white bison in the Chinnar Sanctuary, which shares a long common border with the Manjampatti Valley. In 1997 in Satpura, four totally white gaur were reported – presumably albinos or some genetic sport, which, amid their black companions, appear like ghosts in a forest.
Etruscan Myths. University of Texas Press, 2006 because of masculine features, such as animalistic facial hair that may resemble a beard. However, according to Nancy de Grummond, "This monster is often referred to as male but in fact is very likely female (or neither gender), for she wears a woman’s dress, has decidedly pale pinkish skin (compare the standard brick-red male flesh of These), and even appears to have breasts." p.230 She also identifies the diamond-marking of Tuchulcha's serpents as identifying the poisonous adder (Vipera berus berus).
Marsh, C.W. and Liversidge, A. (1892) "On Native Copper Iodide (Marshite) and other Minerals from Broken Hill, N.S. Wales", Journal and Proceedings of the Royal Society of New South Wales, 26: 326–332. One of marshite’s distinguishing features is that prior to exposure to air the mineral is a faint honey-yellow color, once exposed to the air however it becomes a brick-red color. Another characteristic useful in identifying marshite is the dark red color it fluoresces under short-wave (SW) and long- wave (LW) ultraviolet light.
The first edition of Man's Place in Nature is arranged as follows: 8vo, 9x57/8 inches (23x15 cm), [viii]+159+[i]+8ads. Bound in dark green pebbled cloth with blind- stamped borders on boards, gilt lettering on spine as follows: head: Man's place in nature / [rule] / T.H. Huxley; foot: Williams and Norgate. Dark brick red advertisement end-papers front and back, with Williams & Norgate's publications. Frontispiece diagram of ape skeletons, photographically reproduced, after drawings by Waterhouse Hawkins, from specimens in the Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons.
The forewings are glossy gunmetal gray (brick red in specimens from the Atlantic coast) with numerous black scales, the costal and posterior margins red. The darker gray antemedial and postmedial lines are evenly concave from the costa to vein CuA2, where both lines turn slightly toward the outer margin. The subterminal line is slightly lighter gray than the ground color, scalloped between the veins below vein M3. Between veins M3 and R5, the line is evenly convex, terminating closest to outer margin on vein R5 and then bending inward toward the costa.
The wingspan is about 19 mm. The forewings are light brown with the costal edge narrowly vivid brick red. From the middle of the costa to the basal angle of the dorsum runs a darker, blackish-brown, nearly straight line and from the apical fourth of the costa to the apical fourth of the dorsum runs an outwardly evenly curved, blackish-brown line. At the end of the cell is a circlet of blackish-brown scales, enclosing a brown area, which is slightly lighter than the rest of the wing.
The depth to hardpan ranged from 1 foot to 6 feet. The cementing agent for the hard pan was thought to be ferric hydrate with some lime carbonates and probably silica. About 74,500 acres (301 km²) were mapped. The San Joaquin soil was next mapped in the Modesto-Turlock Area in 1909.Soil Survey of the Modesto-Turlock Area, California, by A.T. Sweet, J.F. Warner, and L.C. Holmes, 1909 and was described as having a "brick red" surface layer that was underlain by a "ferruginous hardpan" at depths of 15 to 60 inches.
The southern toad is a medium-sized, plump species with a snout-to-vent length of up to with females being slightly larger than males. The most obvious distinguishing feature is the knobs on the head and the backward-pointing spurs that extends as far as the paratoid glands. The dorsal surface is covered with warts, some of which may be spiny. The color of the head, back and sides varies from brick red to mottled grey, brown and black while the underparts are pale, sometimes with dark spots on the chest.
It is important to commercial deep-trawl fisheries. The fish is a bright, brick-red color, fading to a yellowish-orange after death. Like other slimeheads, orange roughy is slow-growing and late to mature, resulting in a very low resilience, making them extremely susceptible to overfishing. Many stocks (especially those off New Zealand and Australia, were first exploited in the late 1970s), became severely depleted within 3–20 years, but several have subsequently recovered to levels that fisheries management believe are sustainable, although substantially below unfished populations.
Petrified wood from the Galisteo Formation, Arroyo del Tuerto The formation was first described by F.V. Hayden during the 1869 expedition to New Mexico and Colorado. He named the formation the Galisteo sand group and noted that its sandstone beds dipped from 5 to 50 degrees and varied in color from off-white to brick red. He could find no fossils other than petrified logs, some of which were enormous.Hayden 1869 The formation originally included older beds separated from the rest of the formation by a significant disconformity.
Approximately to the north beyond Big Rock is a sister lake named Little Chamcook Lake. The Chamcook Lake watershed serves as a potable water supply for the Atlantic Salmon Federation, the St. Andrews Biological Station, the Champlain Industrial Park, and the town of St. Andrews. The lake's red rock is feldspathic, of a brownish-red colour that weathers to brick-red, imperfectly syenitic, and showing some indications of an eruptive origin. A set of very fine petro-siliceous rocks, which are almost black, but have a perceptible purplish tinge are situated on the western shore.
Fruits of H. isora at Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary, Visakhapatnam Dried, ruptured fruits of H. isora (with centimetre scale) H. isora is a small tree or large shrub, five to eight metres in height. It has grey bark and alternately arranged, hairy, ovate leaves with serrate margins. Its flowers are brick red or orange-red, and its fruits are green when raw, brown or grey when dried, and twisted, with a screw at its pointed end. Seeds of the plant are black or brown and are highly polished, roughly rhomboid, and rectangular or triangular.
Juveniles are usually some shade of brown, but may sometimes be olive green. Adult Oregon spotted frogs can be brown or reddish brown and tend to become increasingly red with age. Both juvenile and adult Oregon spotted frogs have black spots with light centers present on their heads and backs which tend to become larger, darker and get an increasingly ragged-edged appearance with age. Older frogs also tend to become brick red over most of their dorsal surfaces and are frequently red on their entire abdomen forward to their chest.
When the larvae reach the fourth instar, they become nocturnal feeders, and will return to their resting places at dawn, hiding under flaps of bark, in crevices, or under branches - any place that provides protection. Newly hatched larvae are black with long, hair-like setae. Older larvae have five pairs of raised blue spots and six pairs of raised brick-red spots along their backs, and a sprinkling of setae. As the larval stage comes to an end they cease feeding and surround themselves in a silken net.
Consequently, the northern tuatara was re-classified as Sphenodon punctatus punctatus and the Brothers Island tuatara as Sphenodon punctatus guntheri. Individuals from Brothers Island could also not be distinguished from other modern and fossil samples based on jaw morphology. The Brothers Island tuatara has olive brown skin with yellowish patches, while the colour of the northern tuatara ranges from olive green through grey to dark pink or brick red, often mottled, and always with white spots.. In addition, the Brothers Island tuatara is considerably smaller.Gill, Brian & Whitaker, Tony. 1996.
In 1912, the brick red veneer was added as well as the classic square columns and the wraparound porch. From this simple Folk Victorian style with Queen Anne influences emerged a Classic Revival hotel, as the bay of the Queen Anne style became the polygonal projection of the Classical Revival. Also, other Queen Anne influences remained in place, including the windows where the large panes of glass are surrounded by smaller panes of glass. Thus, the building is an interesting blend of Queen Anne and Classical Revival elements.
Senders often attached the stamp in such a way that half of it stuck to the wrapper, and half to its contents, such that the wrappers could not slide off. Consequently, most stamps of this issue were destroyed, and only less than 1% of the original number has been preserved. Sachsendreier was printed in typography on sheets of five by four stamps. Altogether, 500,000 stamps in 25,000 sheets were printed in eight different printings which can be distinguished by the colour of the printing ink which varies from a pale brick red to carmine.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 7th Transportation Command on 3 Apr 1967. As an exception to policy requested by then Group Commander Colonel Edward T. Fortunato, on 1 Mar 1984 the insignia was authorized for wear by personnel of the 7th Transportation Group. It consists of a brick red shield within a golden yellow border, issuing from the center point throughout seven golden yellow rays surmounted by a blue chess-rook. The rays issuing from the center of the shield refer to the receiving and dispersal of personnel and cargo.
During the fortress's demolition, two Roman floors made of small bisque and octagonal fired bricks were discovered in situ. The first group of stones, found near the castle courtyard, had a yellow-brown colour; the two remaining octagonal bricks are brick red and grey. The octagonal floor tiles also include a small brick that is square in plan and once filled the gaps of the ornamental floor set of octagonal bricks. Biscuit-shaped floor tiles were found in the Dacian Tibiscum (Caransebeș) and in Sarmizegetusa Regia (Grădiștea de Munte), among other places.
Larva: de la Chaumette (teste Moore) describes this as cylindrical, black, with a darker black dorsal line, banded transversely with pale brown transverse tuberculated small spots; beneath dark olive-brown; legs and head brick-red; head furnished with two long black thick branched spines; the rest of the segments except the anal with ten branched spines, dirty, transparent white in colour and disposed in longitudinal rows, anal segment with two similar spines. Food plant: Portulaca oleracea, Asystasia lawiana.Kunte, K. (2006). Additions to the known larval host plants of Indian butterflies.
In the genre of the Himlayan mural paintings of Himalayas, the cosmic mandala in the dzong is considered unique. It is a circle that is painted on the ceiling in the assembly hall or Tshogdu, within a square in the form of mountain ranges with yellow concentric squares. The circles within it are painted in several colours, making it distinctive, represents the twelve months of the year. The path of the course of sun's movement is painted as a line in the form of an ellipse in brick red colour; moons are also represented.
The base of a lava flow may show evidence of hydrothermal activity if the lava flowed across moist or wet substrates. The lower part of the lava may have vesicles, perhaps filled with minerals (amygdules). The substrate upon which the lava has flowed may show signs of scouring, it may be broken or disturbed by the boiling of trapped water, and in the case of soil profiles, may be baked into a brick-red terracotta. Discriminating between an intrusive sill and a lava flow in ancient rock sequences can be difficult.
Wavy lines of combing, often combined with painting are one of the distinctive types of Late Neolithic decoration associated with the Rabah phase (see below). The use of red slips and paints is common in this and later periods, and is probably the direct outcome of clays used, which are rich in iron oxides that tend, under some conditions, to fire to earthy red tones ranging from brown to orange and brick-red. These same clays, when fired in a reducing atmosphere (i.e. devoid of oxygen) often become gray or black in color.
Afroclanis calcareus is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is known from Brachystegia woodland from northern South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique to Malawi, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania. The length of the forewings is 29–32 mm for males and 34–36 mm for females and the wingspan is 68–76 mm. The forewings are reddish brown to brownish purple, with a large dark spot at the costa before the apex and a small dark stigma, The hindwings are brick red, usually darker at the margin.
The common starfish normally has five arms, broad at their base and gradually tapering to a point at their tips, which are often turned up slightly. There is a line of short white spines running along the centre of the aboral (upper) surface of the arms with low, soft mounds called papulae on either side. The oral (lower) surfaces of the arms have rows of small tube feet, used in locomotion and feeding. The starfish is usually orange or brick red on the aboral surface and paler on the oral surface but can also be purple or pale brown.
It's during the spring and summer 1918, when her close friend she met in Paris came to visit her at Looe in Cornwall, that Rice painted her famous portrait of New Zealand short story writer Katherine Mansfield. Mansfield had just been diagnosed with tuberculosis and she suggested herself to be painted in vivid red. Then she wrote a letter to her collaborator and newly-wed husband John Middleton Murry to share her experience as Rice's model: > A. came early and began the great painting — me in that red, brick red frock > with flowers everywhere. It’s awfully interesting, even now.
The antennae are ferruginous and the eyes are ovate (shape resembling an egg). The head is emarginate (having a notched tip or edge) from its posterior view and also rugose, along with the thorax and node (a segment between the mesosoma and gaster); these body parts are covered with large confluent punctures. The basal segment of the abdomen has transversely curved striae (grooves which run across the body). The colour of the thorax is usually greenish, the wings are subhyaline (they have a glassy appearance), and the nervures (the veins of the wings) are testaceous (brick-red colour).
Apart from the tomb, there are no longer any sculptures on the terrace; the Hungarian photographer Brassaï recorded that Picasso with the help of his children would create a patina on outdoor bronze sculptures by urinating on them. The Provençal dining room was the most lived- in part of the chateau. The traditional farmhouse table, with its simple wooden benches, stands on a floor tiled with Provençal octagonal brick red tomettes. On the mantelpiece over the marble fireplace stands a giant lifesize photograph of Picasso, placed there after his death by Jacqueline, who was not yet his wife when they first moved in.
The eastbound platform was long, while the westbound platform was slightly longer. The platform layout was almost identical to that at Caledonian Road, but the two tracks curved outwards in the middle of the station to accommodate the extra width of the lift shaft bases. The platform tiling was carried out by George Woolliscroft & Son of Hanley, Staffordshire, and was made up of white with maroon and brick red patterning. Most of the tiling has since been painted over in grey, but a small section remains untouched and can be seen at the Finsbury Park end of the former eastbound platform.
Fruit is red/brick-red at maturity, 17–25 mm long. Fibres in the mesocarp are in two distinct layers, the outer with thin straight fibres, the inner with thick, fiat to 0.3 mm wide, usually held tight in the dried state. It occurs in rainforest, gallery forest, swampforest, mangrove ecotone and moist vine-thickets of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland from Mcllwraith Range [14° 00'S] to Cape York [10° 40'S], from sea-level to 500 m altitude. This is a variable species which tends to become shorter with smaller leaves in the northern parts of its range.
Petreşti culture pottery belonging to a ritual complex from Ghirbom, Alba. On display at the National Museum of the Union, Alba Iulia The Petreşti culture diffused across almost all of Transylvania, is regarded as local in origin by some specialists, and as a migration originating from the southern areas of the Balkans, by others. It is primarily known for its painted decoration – patterns painted in red, brown- red, later brown, on a brick-red background, which testifies to the high standard of civilization of the bearers of this culture. The ornamental motifs consist in bands, rhombuses, squares, spirals and windings.
Distinctive field characteristics used to distinguish Boletus rubroflammeus from similar boletes include the deep purple-red cap and the reticulated stem. B. flammans is similar in appearance, but has a more variable cap color, ranging from dark red to brick-red or reddish-brown, a yellow stem base and less prominently reticulate stem, and it grows under conifers. Rubroboletus rhodosanguineus is also very similar but has more variable cap color with brown to olive tones and its cut flesh has an odor of overripe fruit that intensifies when dry. The European species R. rhodoxanthus has a paler overall color.
Making my challenge with 150 metres to go, out in Lane Three on the brick-red Stadium Australia track, I felt as if I were almost picked up and carried along by the roar of the crowd, the breath of the crowd. They propelled me to the line … to the gold. Only later was I told of how many people had risen to their feet almost as one, clambering on seats, to add their determination to my own in that 800 metres final. I will never forget the feeling that night, the 'rush' that supported my charge in the home straight.
Under FTI's guidance, local craftsmen James Taylor and Taylor Davis, partnering with the Association for Preservation Technology and the Jekyll Island Restoration Team, restored the windows using the original glass and much of the original wood. FTI and the city then supported the repainting of the building. In 1899, the Grand Opera House was built of unpainted brick, then painted white by the movie company in the 1920s for a more modern feel. Because it would have been damaging to remove decades of paint from the surface, the theatre was painted a brick red when the city restored it in the 1980s.
Swamy attended the Mission High School and completed his matriculation. Always accompanying his father to the palace and looking him work, Swamy started to sketch the sculptors and started assisting his father by sketching designs and figures. Seeing Swamy discontinue studies and his interest in art, Singannacharya joined him to the Chamaraja Technical Institution, Mysore in 1928 and saw him finish in 1932. In the Fine Arts section of the Mysore Dasara Exhibition 1931, an oil painting of S.N. Swamy, "Honored Old Age"(a study of an old lady in brick red saree and drab background) won the silver medal.
Thirty years before the events in Close Quarters, and before going to London, he had attended a preparatory school of which he now remembers little except that the masters had seemed much happier than the boys. In the short story Modus Operandi we are told that he came to London from Norfolk at the age of 17, which would place his year of birth at 1890. He began by "pounding a beat in Whitechapel." The first time we see him in Close Quarters he is "a thick square man with a brick-red face" and unmarried.
Dichomeris at Markku Savela's Lepidoptera and Some Other Life FormsBug Guide The wingspan is 19–21 mm. The forewings are light ochreous fuscous sprinkled with black, the costal edge narrowly and faintly touched with brick red. There is a small inconspicuous second white discal spot at the end of the cell, edged with black and a similar even less conspicuous dot, consisting of a few scales on the middle of the cell. There is also a very faint row of black dots on the terminal edge, which is slightly darker than the rest of the wing.
With the change in location also came a change in attire. Gone were the blue and gold uniforms of the 1990s in favor a more "retro" look with pinstripes, a traditional baseball font, and the colors of brick red, sand and black. These colors were chosen because ownership originally wanted to rename the team the Houston Diesels. The "shooting star" logo was modified but still retained its definitive look. The Astros moved into Minute Maid Park in 2000 After two fairly successful seasons without a playoff appearance, the Astros were early favorites to win the 2004 NL pennant.
The effect of oak aging on two Penedès region Cabernet Sauvignon varietals, a two-year-old cosecha (left) and six-year-old crianza (right). As the wine matures, its color shifts from deep purple or crimson to a lighter brick-red, and takes on a more graduated appearance in the glass. The porous nature of an oak barrel allows evaporation and oxygenation to occur in wine but typically not at levels that would cause oxidation or spoilage. The typical 59-gallon (225-liter) barrel can lose anywhere from 5 to 6 gallons (21 to 25 liters) (of mostly alcohol and water) in a year through evaporation.
In this case, the three types of anthocyanin pigments are red, blue and colorless with the concentration of those various pigments dictating the color of the wine. A wine with low pH (and such greater acidity) will have a higher occurrence of ionized anthocyanins which will increase the amount of bright red pigments. Wines with a higher pH will have a higher concentration of blue and colorless pigments. As the wine ages, anthocyanins will react with other acids and compounds in wines such as tannins, pyruvic acid and acetaldehyde which will change the color of the wine, causing it to develop more "brick red" hues.
Dryinus rasnitsyni females are in total length with an overall body coloration thought to have been brown, though the head, chela, and palpi were a brick-red to brownish-yellow. The species is macropterous, with fore wings that are clear with a very slight darkening away from hyaline and hind-wings that are fully darkened. The chelae on the front pair of legs are modified into claws each with a pair of teeth just below the claw apex. The morphology of the claw is a key distinguishing feature between D. grimaldii and D. rasnitsyni, which has a much more spatulate shaped claw then that of D. grimaldii.
Whatever > this is, it certainly isn't street food. She said about the food, "Even though many of the dishes we tried were very good, they weren't quite good enough to earn Colony a rave review", and remarked that the chicken tikka masala was "authentically inauthentic, in its creamy sweetness and brick-red colour." Both MacLeod and Hugo Rifkind of The Times were unconvinced with the authenticity of the cuisine, mentioning that is more a fusion of Eastern and Western cuisines rather than truly Asian. Matthew Norman of The Guardian was strongly negative of the restaurant, giving it a scathing review and a score of 0.05/10.
The building of the embassy and the residence of the Ambassador of Madagascar on the same ground was commissioned by the Malagasy architect Henri Randrianarisoa and realized by the German firm Fundamenta GmbH. Randrianarisoa was oriented in the design mainly in the Rova of Antananarivo, the royal palace of Madagascar built in the 17th century in Antananarivo, and he added elements of the colonial period and modern design of Madagascar. The embassy building has three floors and a nearly square base, the elements of the four Risalits stresses at the corners. The entire house is decorated in a rich red earth tone to demonstrate the brick-red soil of the country.
Alaea salt, sometimes referred to as Hawaiian red salt, is an unrefined sea salt that has been mixed with an iron oxide rich volcanic clay called alaea, which gives the seasoning its characteristic brick red color . It is part of Native Hawaiian cuisine and is used in traditional dishes such as kalua pig, poke, and pipikaula (Hawaiian jerky). It was also traditionally used to cleanse, purify and bless tools, canoes, homes and temples. Once exported to the Pacific Northwest to cure salmon, it saw a resurgence in popularity late in the 20th century in fusion style cuisine of Hawaii both on Islands and beyond.
The tower of Kamyenyets today The Tower of Kamyenyets, often called by the misnomer the White Tower (, transliteration: Bielaya Vieža or Belaya Vezha), is the main landmark of the town of Kamyenyets in Belarus. The name Bielaja Vieža (alternative transliteration: Belaya Vezha), which literally means White Tower or White Fortress in Belarusian, presumably derives from the tower's proximity to the Belavezhskaya Pushcha Forest, but not from its color, which has been brick-red through the ages, never white. The story of the White Tower of Kamyenyets on the Belavezhskaya Pushcha National Park site . The first record in the chronicles about the foundation of the tower dates from 1276.
The hook-billed kite (Chondrohierax uncinatus), is a bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors such as kites, eagles, and harriers. It occurs in the Americas, including the Rio Grande Valley of Texas in the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and tropical South America. It is a mid-sized, slender raptor with an invariably striped belly and banded tail but there is probably more individual variation in color and in size of bill than in any other species of diurnal raptor. Birds from beneath can look blackish or gray (especially males) and brown or brick-red (females) variously.
The school was zoned in a functional manner with four wings for different disciplines including classrooms, science rooms, art rooms, and cookery rooms. This allowed for smooth movement between disciplines and also created distinct external courtyard areas around the building. The facade of the building comprises "interlocking cubic forms of differing heights" which is offset by the vertical clock tower with white rendered vertical strips. The material Seabrook used were functional while at the same time embracing the typical palette of De Stijl movement by using striking colours of cream brick, red steel framed hopper windows and dark blue glazed brick piers between windows.
The Coyotes' first logo, a kachina-style coyote, used from 1996 to 2003. Upon their arrival in Phoenix in 1996, the team adopted a look with a strong Southwestern flavor. The primary logo was a stylized hockey stick-wielding coyote in a kachina- inspired style. The jerseys featured pointed green shoulders with brick red trim over a white (home) or black (road) body, and non-traditional striping patterns. These uniforms remained in place until 2003. A third jersey, primarily green with a nighttime desert landscape wrapped around the bottom and the cuffs of the sleeves, was introduced in 1998, and retired in 2003 when the team redesigned the uniforms.
Lewis Gouverneur and Nathalie Bailey Morris House The building at 100 East 85th Street, originally known as Lewis Gouverneur and Nathalie Bailey Morris House, is a large brick red townhouse that was built in 1913–14 in a neo-Federal style. Its architect was Ernest Flagg. It was designated a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1973, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun (originally "Anshe Jeshurun"), a Modern Orthodox synagogue founded by Russian Jewish immigrants in 1872, is located at 125 East 85th Street, between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue, in a building built in 1902.
Crotalus atrox Western Diamond- backed Rattlesnake. Encyclopedia of Life Overall, it is probably the second largest-bodied species of rattlesnake, behind only its close cousin the eastern diamondback rattlesnake, and is also the second largest of North American venomous snakes (the bushmasters, which attain probably similar weights and greater total length, occur up as far as Nicaragua). The color pattern generally consists of a dusty-looking gray-brown ground color, but it may also be pinkish-brown, brick red, yellowish, pinkish, or chalky white. This ground color is overlaid dorsally with a series of 23-45 (mean, 36) dorsal body blotches that are dark gray-brown to brown in color.
A glass of red wine Red wine is a type of wine made from dark-colored grape varieties. The actual color of the wine can range from intense violet, typical of young wines, through to brick red for mature wines and brown for older red wines. The juice from most purple grapes is greenish-white, the red color coming from anthocyan pigments (also called anthocyanins) present in the skin of the grape; exceptions are the relatively uncommon teinturier varieties, which produce a red-colored juice. Much of the red-wine production process therefore involves extraction of color and flavor components from the grape skin.
Hårleman and Tessin at the building site, an interpretation by Carl Larsson, 1896 Carl Hårleman's sketch of a wall in the Prince Gustaf's audience room, 1750 Nicodemus Tessin the Younger died in 1728, before the palace was finished. The responsibility for the construction was taken over by Carl Hårleman, even though Tessin's position as superintendent was formally passed on to his son Carl Gustaf Tessin. Hårleman formed large parts of the palace's interior in a newer style, more to the taste of that time, the Rococo. At Hårleman's initiative, the color of the facade was changed from the earlier brick red to light yellow (see Coloration below).
The brain may be injured by prominences on the inside of the skull as it scrapes past them. Epidural hematoma is usually found on the same side of the brain that was impacted by the blow, but on very rare occasions it can be due to a contrecoup injury. A "heat hematoma" is an epidural hematoma caused by severe thermal burn, causing contraction and exfoliation of the dura mater and exfoliate from the skull, in turn causing exudation of blood from the venous sinuses. The hematoma can be seen on autopsy as brick red, or as radiolucent on CT scan, because of heat-induced coagulation of the hematoma.
Most adult red-tails have a dark brown nape and upper head which gives them a somewhat hooded appearance, while the throat can variably present a lighter brown "necklace". Especially in younger birds, the underside may be otherwise covered with dark brown spotting and some adults may too manifest this stippling. The back is usually a slightly darker brown than elsewhere with paler scapular feathers, ranging from tawny to white, forming a variable imperfect "V" on the back. The tail of most adults, which of course gives this species its name, is rufous brick-red above with a variably sized black subterminal band and generally appears light buff-orange from below.
More difficult to identify among adult red-tails are its darkest variations, as most species of Buteo in North America also have dark morphs. Western dark morph red-tails (i.e. calurus) adults, however, retain the typical distinctive brick-red tail which other species lack, which may stand out even more against the otherwise all chocolate brown-black bird. Standard pale juveniles when perched show a whitish patch in the outer half of the upper surface of the wing which other juvenile Buteo lack. The most difficult to identify stages and plumage types are dark morph juveniles, Harlan’s hawk and some Krider’s hawks (the latter mainly with typical ferruginous hawks as aforementioned).
This is a small pipit, with adults easily identified in the breeding season by their brick red face and throat. In other plumages this is an undistinguished looking species, heavily streaked brown above, with whitish mantle stripes, and with black markings on a white background below. It is very similar in appearance to the meadow pipit and in the autumn it much resembles the tree pipit but has an altogether more striped appearance because of the larger numbers of streaks on the cap, back, flank, rump and chest. The flight of the red-throated pipit is strong and direct, and it gives a characteristic psii call as it flies.
Matanasi (2011), page 28 The first commandant and executive officer were Brigadier General M.Sabur and Colonel Maulwi Saelan. President Sukarno gave the name "Tjakrabirawa" after Krishna's fictional sacred weapon in 'wayang' mythology. The Regiment took a golden "Cakra" in a dark red pentagonal field as its badge and a brick red beret for its headgear, pushed to the left.Matanasi (2011), page 29-30 On 30 September 1965, Lieutenant Colonel Untung from the Regiment's 1st Honor Guard Battalion led the infamous 30 September Movement which eventually led to the liquidation of the Regiment (the battalion's Army guardsmen were forward deployed by squads to the residences of the targeted Army generals).
A medium- sized damselfly (length 32–41 mm; wingspan 42–48 mm). The face is brick red and the front of the eyes are cherry-red; the back of the eyes are black above and green below; it has mauvish reddish brown post-ocular spots that are joined by a stripe of the same colour. The synthorax is mauvish brown (ageing to purplish brown) with black stripes above; the sides are light blue. The abdomen is black above and green below; segments eight and nine are bright blue with narrow black rings at their ends and segment ten is black above with bright blue sides.
Heulandite was first separated from stilbite by August Breithaupt in 1818, and named by him "euzeolite" (meaning beautiful zeolite); independently, in 1822, H. J. Brooke arrived at the same result, giving the name heulandite, after the mineral collector, John Henry Heuland (1778–1856). Heulandite occurs with stilbite and other zeolites in the amygdaloidal cavities of basaltic volcanic rocks, and occasionally in gneiss and hydrothermal veins. Good specimens have been found in the basalts of Berufjörður, near Djúpivogur, in Iceland, the Faroe Islands and the Deccan Traps of the Sahyadri Mountains of Maharashtra near Mumbai. Crystals of a brick-red colour are from Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire and the Fassa valley in Trentino.
The Littlewood Nunataks () are a group of four lichen-covered nunataks, rising to about between Schweitzer Glacier and Lerchenfeld Glacier, on the Luitpold Coast of Antarctica. The nunataks are brick red in color. They were discovered and first roughly charted by the Second German Antarctic Expedition, 1911–12, under Wilhelm Filchner. They were visited by helicopter from the icebreaker on January 28, 1959, by John C. Behrendt of the United States Geological Survey, and Lieutenant Erickson, U.S. Navy, and were named by Behrendt after oceanographer William H. Littlewood of the U.S. Navy Hydrographic Office, who worked in this and adjacent parts of the Weddell Sea area during Operation Deep Freeze 1957 and 1959.
Eucalyptus lateritica was first formally described in 1986 by the botanists Ian Brooker and Stephen Hopper from a specimen collected by Hopper near Mount Lesueur and the description was published in the journal Nuytsia. The specific epithet (lateritica) is derived from the Latin word lateritius meaning "brick-red", referring to the lateritic gravel which dominated the area where this species grows. The species is part of the subgenus Eucalyptus series Diversiformae, a group of mallee species that all have adult leaves held erect, buds with a single unscarred operculum and pyramidal seeds. The other species in this series include E. erectifolia, E. platydisca, E. diversifolia, E. todtiana, E. pachyloma, E. dolorosa and E. buprestium.
Divided into two groups, they are dated from the beginning of the second half of the ninth century but it is not determined with certainty whether they were made in Baghdad or in Kairouan by a Baghdadi artisan, the controversy over the origin of this precious collection agitates the specialists. These tiles are mainly decorated with floral and plant motifs (stylised flowers, palm leaves and asymmetrical leaves on bottom hatch and checkered) belong to two series: one polychrome characterised by a greater richness of tones ranging from light gold to light, dark or ocher yellow, and from brick-red to brown lacquer, the other monochrome is a beautiful luster that goes from smoked gold to green gold.
Stilbite is abundant in the volcanic rocks of Iceland, Faroe Islands, Isle of Skye, Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia (where it is the provincial mineral), northern New Jersey and North Carolina. Salmon-pink crystals occur with pale green apophyllite in the Deccan Traps near Mumbai (Bombay) and Pune, India; white sheaf-like groups encrust the calcite (Iceland-spar) of Berufjord near Djupivogr in Iceland; brown sheafs are found near Paterson, New Jersey in the United States; and crystals of a brick-red color are found at Old Kilpatrick, Scotland. Iceland is generally considered to be the type locality for stilbite-Ca. It is presumed to be the Helgusta Iceland Spar Mine, along Reydarfjordur.
In Prague Zoo The Cuban iguana is a large lizard, with an average body length of from snout to vent (the base of the tail). On rare occasions, individual males with lengths of when measured from the snout to the tip of the tail have been recorded at the wildlife sanctuary within the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base (GTMO), Cuba with females being two thirds that size. The species is sexually dimorphic: males are much larger than females, and males have enlarged femoral pores on their thighs, which are used to release pheromones to attract mates and mark territory. The skin of male Cuban iguanas ranges in color from dark gray to brick red, whereas that of females is olive green with dark stripes or bands.
Eosinophils, sometimes called eosinophiles or, less commonly, acidophils, are a variety of white blood cells and one of the immune system components responsible for combating multicellular parasites and certain infections in vertebrates. Along with mast cells and basophils, they also control mechanisms associated with allergy and asthma. They are granulocytes that develop during hematopoiesis in the bone marrow before migrating into blood, after which they are terminally differentiated and do not multiply. These cells are eosinophilic or "acid-loving" due to their large acidophilic cytoplasmic granules, which show their affinity for acids by their affinity to coal tar dyes: Normally transparent, it is this affinity that causes them to appear brick-red after staining with eosin, a red dye, using the Romanowsky method.
Noravank (, literally "new monastery") is a 13th-century Armenian monastery, located 122 km from Yerevan in a narrow gorge made by the Amaghu River, near the town of Yeghegnadzor, Armenia. The gorge is known for its tall, sheer, brick-red cliffs, directly across from the monastery. The monastery is best known for its two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) church, which grants access to the second floor by way of a narrow stone-made staircase jutting out from the face of building, one of the earliest examples of cantilever architecture. The monastery is sometimes called Noravank at Amaghu, with Amaghu being the name of a small and nowadays abandoned village above the canyon, in order to distinguish it from Bgheno-Noravank, near Goris.
Forewing pale brick red; the median and narrow terminal area brown; upper stigmata prominently pale ochreous grey with dark centres; teeth of outer line very long, the veins dark beyond; hindwing dirty grey; veins and a diffuse terminal shade darker — lepetitii Bsd. is wholly redbrown, without the pale submarginal band, the stigmata without pale edging; — suffusa Tutt is an extreme form in which the dark median shade is expanded to cover the whole forewing, making it deep blackish red; — rufa Tutt is pale bright red, much paler than the type. — Larva green or reddish, with darker mottling; dorsal and subdorsal lines pale; a row of dark lateral oblique stripes; spiracular line pale greenish.Warren. Interior arrangement of a new MP 05 train. The MP 05s are based on the MP 89CAs and their exterior appearance is the same; however, the MP 05 have brighter LED-type headlights compared to the MP 89. The RATP opted for an interior also similar to that of the MP 89, with only the colors differing: the blue and gray tones replaced by an off-white tone, the floor colored brick red, and the seats with a rainbow pattern, in a design was conceived by Yo Kaminagai. The trains are the first production sets to be equipped with the Dilidam multimedia system (first introduced in one MF 01 set) and security cameras; as well, they are the first rubber-tired rolling stock with an air conditioning system, with an output of 11 kW, housed on the roof.
The GRS varies greatly in hue, from almost brick-red to pale salmon, or even white. The higher temperature of the reddest central region is the first evidence that the Spot's color is affected by environmental factors. The spot occasionally disappears from the visible spectrum, becoming evident only through the Red Spot Hollow, which is its niche in the South Equatorial Belt (SEB). The visibility of GRS is apparently coupled to the appearance of the SEB; when the belt is bright white, the spot tends to be dark, and when it is dark, the spot is usually light. The periods when the spot is dark or light occur at irregular intervals; in the 50 years from 1947 to 1997, the spot was darkest in the periods 1961–1966, 1968–1975, 1989–1990, and 1992–1993.Beebe (1997), pp. 38-41.
Much more serious was the problem of elements which form more than one oxide or series of salts, which have (in today's terminology) different oxidation states. Copper will react with oxygen to form either brick red cuprous oxide (copper(I) oxide, with 63.5 g of copper for 8 g of oxygen) or black cupric oxide (copper(II) oxide, with 32.7 g of copper for 8 g of oxygen), and so has two equivalent weights. Supporters of atomic weights could turn to the Dulong–Petit law (1819), which relates the atomic weight of a solid element to its specific heat capacity, to arrive at a unique and unambiguous set of atomic weights. Most supporters of equivalent weights—which were the great majority of chemists prior to 1860—simply ignored the inconvenient fact that most elements exhibited multiple equivalent weights.
Electrified service between Philadelphia and Paoli was opened on September 11, 1915. As the first of the local commuter and long-distance line to be electrified, the line was used as an "experiment" for powering trains using AC overhead catenary wires. The previous commuter line to be electrified was the Long Island Rail Road in New York City, but this line used the DC third rail similar in nature to the New York City Subway system and most other heavy-rail interurbans. Between 1915 and the 1960s, the former Pennsylvania Railroad used the MP-54 electric multiple-unit (EMU) railcars, which were brick red ("Tuscan Red") in color (green in the Penn Central era) and had characteristic "owl eye" round windows at car ends. The MP-54s were replaced in the 1960s and 1970s with the Silverliner EMU cars, which are still in use today.
The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 21 September 1971, consisting of a gold demi-sun with eleven gold bevelled rays, surmounted in base by a gold ship's steering wheel of eight spokes with brick red rim, bearing at the hub a Korean Taeguk (scarlet at the top and blue at base), the areas in the lower half of the wheel between the spokes pierced, all above a semicircular blue enamel scroll with ends folded over the horizontal handles of the steering wheel and inscribed, "RESOLUTE" in gold letters. The eleven sun rays refer to the unit's service in Europe, World War II, and its participation in ten campaigns in the Korean War. The Taeguk alludes to the organization's two Meritorious Unit Commendations, Korea and the two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation awards. The ship's steering wheel and the blue scroll allude to the organization's mission to command units employed in the operation of water terminals.
At one time, the rufous-tailed hawk (Buteo ventralis), distributed in Patagonia and some other areas of southern South America, was considered part of the red-tailed hawk species. With a massive distributional gap consisting of the majority of South America, the rufous-tailed hawk is considered a separate species now but the two hawks still compromise a "species pair" or superspecies, as they are clearly closely related. The rufous-tailed hawk, while comparatively little studied, is very similar to the red-tailed hawk, being about the same size in body mass and possessing the same wing structure, and having more or less parallel nesting and hunting habits. Physically, however, rufous-tailed hawk adults do not attain a bright brick-red tail as do red-tailed hawks, instead retaining a dark brownish- cinnamon tail with many blackish crossbars similar to juvenile red-tailed hawks. Another, more well-known, close relative to the red-tailed hawk is the common buzzard (Buteo buteo), which has been considered as its Eurasian “broad ecological counterpart” and may too be within a species complex with red- tailed hawk.
Among those sculptors, painters and craftsmen who also contributed during the later renovations were Louis Masreliez (interior work in Classicism and Neoclassicism), Jean Baptiste Masreliez (interior work), Axel Magnus Fahlcrantz (the Logården Wall and the wrought iron fence at Logården), Johan Niclas Byström (sculptures), Sven Scholander (restorations), Johan Axel Wetterlund (facade sculptures of noted men and four allegorical groups on the Logården Wall), Julius Kronberg (ceiling paintings) and Kaspar Schröder (facade sculptures; lion masks at the courtyard facade). A larger change in the facade was made during the reign of King Charles XIV John resulting in Hårleman's light yellow facade coloring being painted over and at the beginning of the 20th century during the reign of King Oscar II when a decision to go back to Tessin's original brick red color was made. it is the color of the facade. (see Coloration below) During the reign of King Oscar I, there was a renewed interest for older styles and when the Vita Havet (the White Sea Ballroom) was created from the designs of Per Axel Nyström in 1844–1850, a compromise between old and new was made.
