Welshe's life remains obscure. There are other Welshes within Morpeth, Northumberland at this time, indicating that he was probably a local man, and probably a burgess of the town.

However, recent research shows that at least one lesser cadet branch, the Walshes (or Welshes) of Canty and Woodstock, Co. Waterford, continued in occupation of Piltown lands into the late 19th century. Tintern Abbey, Wexford, home of Nicholas Walsh's second wife Jacquetta Colclough.

The wetlands comprise a series of named lakes, including Lake Joondalup (or Craigie Lake), Lake Goolelal (or Welshes Lake), Jandabup Lake (or Big Dundebar Lake), Yonderup Lake, Nowergup Lake (or Narago Lake), Coogee Springs, Neerabup Lake (or Pappas Swamp), Lake Gnangara, Mariginiup Lake, Pippidinny and Boonaddy Swamps, and Loch McNess (or Yanchep Lake).

Today, they are used as riding and driving ponies for both children and adults. Welshes today are also used in dressage, endurance riding, general riding, hunting, jumping, and work activities. They have proven their ability at driving in Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) level competition, and have been used for dressage. They also compete against one another in breed show competition as hunters, eventers, and western pleasure horses.

The Welshes sued in 1990, alleging that the defendant organization was a place of public accommodation practicing unlawful religious discrimination under Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. A panel of U.S. District Court judges, Diane Pamela Wood, John Louis Coffey and Walter J. Cummings, Jr. heard the case. On May 17, 1993, the Court ruled against the Welshes in a 2 to 1 decision delivered by Judge Coffey, holding that Boy Scouts of America did not qualify as a place of public accommodation under Title II because it is not an "establishment" that "serves the public," and that the Boy Scouts does not constitute a "place of exhibition or entertainment" in the sense Congress envisioned when drafting Title II. The majority's opinion was based purely on the statute and did not reach the Constitutional question. Judge Cummings dissented, arguing that because the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, expanded the number of establishments in its definition of "places of public accommodation," this court should have expanded Title II to include membership organizations.

Paul Ferris was born on 10 November 1963 in the Blackhill district of Glasgow to a Protestant father and a Catholic mother, and was raised as a Catholic. Ferris was the youngest of six children, with one older brother Billy and four sisters Carol, Cath, Janet and Maureen. Ferris was bullied for several years by members of a local criminal family, the Welshes, which is thought to have resulted in him developing the skin disorder psoriasis. He has known Glasgow gangland figure Ian McAteer since childhood.
