On November 27, 2005, WebWork developer Patrick Lightbody announced that WebWork would be merging in to Struts2. While the next major release (WebWork 2.2.x) was released under the WebWork name, all future major revisions (namely, 2.3.x and beyond) would be folded into Struts2.

The WebWork framework spun off from Apache Struts aiming to offer enhancements and refinements while retaining the same general architecture of the original Struts framework. WebWork was a Java-based web application framework developed by OpenSymphony that merged into the current Struts2 framework. It was designed to improve developer productivity and simplify code. WebWork was built on top of XWork, which provided a generic command pattern framework as well as an Inversion of Control container. Most of Keeler's novels feature what Keeler called a "webwork plot". This can be defined as a plot that includes many strands or threads (each thread representing a character or significant object), which intersect in complex causal interactions. A webwork novel typically ends with a surprise revelation which clarifies these interactions. According to Keeler's 1927 series of articles on plot theory, "The Mechanics (and Kinematics) of Web-Work Plot Construction," a webwork plot is typically built around a sequence in which the main character intersects at least four other strands, one after the other, and each of these encounters causes the next one.

The architecture of WebWork was based on the MVC Framework, Command, and Dispatcher patterns and the principle of Inversion of Control. The life cycle of a WebWork request begins when the servlet container receives a new request. The new request is passed through a set of filters called the filter chain and sent to the FilterDispatcher. The FilterDispatcher forwards the request to the ActionMapper to determine what needs to be done with the request.

Writer Jack Woodford wrote the article Tale Incredible: The True Story of Harry Stephen Keeler's Literary Rise about Keeler. Keeler's webwork technique anticipates the so-called hysterical realism of later novelists such as Thomas Pynchon. Gabriele Rico in Writing the Natural Way advises aspiring writers to practice a form of webwork, which she calls "clustering", to encourage associational thinking which can be used to create characters and plot lines.Gabrielle Rico, Writing the Natural Way (Tarcher, 2000).

Films that exhibit probably unwitting similarities to Keeler's work include Murder Story (1989), in which Christopher Lee plays a Keeler-like character who keeps a large collection of newspaper clippings as part of his "Willard Hope Technique" for writing novels, which closely resembles Keeler's "webwork novel" technique. R. Apache Struts 2 is an open-source web application framework for developing Java EE web applications. It uses and extends the Java Servlet API to encourage developers to adopt a model–view–controller (MVC) architecture. Ted Husted, developer of Struts said in an email that WebWork was very similar to Struts 1.x and did certain things better than Struts. Both Husted and Lightbody's rationale was that combining WebWork's technology with Struts' community would benefit both projects.

Keeler has influenced later writers, including Neil Gaiman and Futurama producer Ken Keeler (no relation); Ken Keeler says in the DVD commentary for "Time Keeps on Slippin'" that the story "Strange Romance" from the book Y. Cheung, Business Detective was an inspiration for the episode.

60th Fighter Aviation Regiment (60 IAP) was active at this airfield from 1945, flying Su-27 aircraft from June 1985.Holm In 2000-2001 it was merged with the 404 IAP at Orlovka to become the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment (23 IAP). Google Earth high-resolution satellite imagery accessed in 2006 showed a rare glimpse of over 40 interceptor aircraft distributed across the airfield on a webwork of interceptor alert pads, much as Soviet PVO bases would have operated during the peak of the Cold War. Although some of the aircraft are probably operational, others are probably simply parked and awaiting depot maintenance at the airfield's Sukhoi facility.

The Voice of the Seven Sparrows introduced audiences the world over to Keeler's complicated "webwork plot" story lines with wildly improbable in-story coincidences and sometimes sheerly baffling conclusions. Keeler's complex, labyrinthine stories generally alienated his intended reading audience. Owing to his popularity with Dutton, however, Keeler gained notoriety in the mid-1930s as a purveyor of new and original stories. His popularity peaked when his book Sing Sing Nights was used to "suggest" two different low-budget mystery-adventure films, namely Sing Sing Nights (Monogram Pictures, 1933) and The Mysterious Mr. Wong (Monogram, 1935), the latter of which starred screen legend Bela Lugosi.

Michael Eaton Gage is a mathematician who works as a professor of mathematics at the University of Rochester. He is known for his work on the curve- shortening flow, and in particular for the Gage–Hamilton–Grayson theorem, proved by Gage with Richard S. Hamilton and Matthew Grayson, which describes the behavior of any smooth Jordan curve under the curve-shortening flow.... He is also one of the original developers of the WeBWorK online homework delivery system.. Gage did his undergraduate studies at Antioch College, and completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at Stanford University in 1978, under the supervision of Robert Osserman. He has worked as a systems programmer for Intel,. and joined the Rochester faculty in 1984.
