These include a janbiya dagger with sheath in a Moroccan style, dated 1877, which was presented to King Alfonso XII by the Artillery Factory. Some of the works from Toledo are domed caskets which show an influence of Zuloaga's Fonthill Casket. Kalduny, dumplings of unleavened dough filled with meat, mushrooms, or other stuffings, are related to similar dishes in the West and in the East alike, from Italian ravioli, Hungarian derelye, and Ashkenazi Jewish pirogen to Russian pelmeni and Central Asian manti or chuchvara. Kalduny made with a stuffing of smoked ham and mushrooms (Kalduny Count Tyshkevich, named after a Belarusian noble family from Lahojsk near Minsk) were long considered Belarus’s “visiting card”, although decades of Soviet rule almost erased their trace from public memory and now they are only served in a few local restaurants. Currently the Russian pelmeni and the Ukrainian vareniki are served in more restaurants. The simplest dough for kalduny is made of flour mixed with tepid water, eggs, and some salt.

The inverted pyramid structure was obtained by exploiting the considerable flexibility offered by materials such as concrete and steel, obviously taking into account that Messina is a 1st category seismic zone.

Among the many paintings discovered in the apartment was a portrait depicting Marthe de Florian herself in a beautiful pink muslin evening dress, painted by one of her lovers, the artist Giovanni Boldini. The portrait had never been listed, exhibited or published, however a visiting card with a scribbled love note from the painter was found in the apartment, and a short reference found in a book from 1951 commissioned by the artist's widow Emilia Cardona also confirmed the provenance of the painting. According to the auction expert, the work was painted around 1900-1910drouot.com.. After its rediscovery and subsequent research into its provenance, the painting was put to auction with a starting price of €300,000, but the sale price rocketed as ten bidders pushed the final price to €3 million, a world record for the artist.

Jabłoński is a graduate of the Film Directing Academy in Łódź, Poland. He has worked on the biggest films in Polish cinematography – as a Second Director on Dekalog by Krzysztof Kieślowski and as First Assistant Director on the "White Visiting Card" and "Magnate" by Filip Bajon. He produced and directed "The Visit of an Elderly Lady" (1986) – the first Polish independent film—and Photographer (1998), which received a number of international film awards: Grand Prix FIPA D'OR and Prix Planete in Biarritz (1999); Grand Prix VPRO Joris Ivens Award at IDFA in Amsterdam (1998); Prix Europa for Best Non-fiction TV Program (1998); Best Documentary in Banff (1999); Best Documentary at Double Take, Durham; Grimme Prize in Germany (2000); Bavarian TV Prize (1999). His work has also been screened at the TOP TEN Mediaforum Conference in Cologne.

It remained a favorite both with him (it figures prominently in Johann Zoffany's iconic painting of Townley's library (illustration, right), was one of three ancient marbles Townley had reproduced on his visiting card, and was apocryphally the one which he wished he could carry with him when his house was torched in the Gordon Riots – apocryphal since the bust is in fact far too heavy for that) and with the public (Joseph Nollekens is said to have always had a marble copy of it in stock for his customers to purchase, and in the late 19th century Parian ware copies were all the rage.Trustees of the British Museum – Parian bust of Clytie The identity of the subject, a woman emerging from a calyx of leaves, was much discussed among the antiquaries in Townley's circle. At first referred to as Agrippina, and later called by Townley Isis in a lotus flower, it is now accepted as Clytie. Some modern scholars even claim the bust is of eighteenth century date, though most now think it is an ancient work showing Antonia Minor or a contemporaneous Roman lady in the guise of Ariadne.
