The project uses kill traps to kill he pests in the area. These traps are targeting Stoats and Rats. There are over 500 traps in the 3000ha area managed by the project spread out along a network of tramlines. The traps were built by a business studies group at Fiordland College in order to gain the capital for their business project.

In 1946, Kurt Wiesinger, professor of engineering at the ETH Zürich, put forward plans for a highspeed train that would have covered the distance between Zürich main station and Oerlikon in two minutes. Architect Wolfgang Nägeli presented a more realistic project in the Schweizerische Bauzeitung in 1947. Several tramlines were to be relocated underground in the city centre.
A tram in Innsbruck In Austria, Gmunden, Graz, Innsbruck, Linz and Vienna all have tramway systems. With 173.4 km of track, Vienna's network is one of the largest in the world. The cars have been constantly modernised over the years and many are now ultra low-floored. Many of the Austrian tramlines have been in constant operation since they were first opened.
It is known locally as the rock of Hinemoa. Within the Kaimai Ranges the Hendersons Tramline loop track follows the route of bush tramlines and haul lines once used to extract logs from the bush. The walk includes forest and clearings near the fringe of the park. A side track off the main walk leads down to the base of a waterfall and a large swimming hole.
On 1 November 1966, Line 1 was moved when a new autobahn was constructed. Another change took place in September 1974, when both tramlines had to be relocated out of downtown because of the creation of a downtown pedestrian zone. In 1976, the federal government tried one last time to completely close Bonn's tramway, but failed due to, among other things, the resistance of the city's populace.
The Brownstock Music Festival is a music festival held annually at Morris Farm in Chelmsford, Essex. The festival, held over three days annually since 2005, attracts thousands of visitors each year. It was operated by Count of Ten Ltd (Y Not Festival, Truck Festival, Tramlines) which is now owned by Global Radio. The festival started small, but now has 4 separate stages and 23 festival areas.
By the mid-1920s tramlines ran from the city depot to North Hobart, Lenah Valley, Springfield, Glenorchy, Cascade Brewery, Proctor's Road, and Sandy Bay. The network reached its maximum size between 1934 and 1942, when the total network length was 17 miles (32 kilometres). The Macquarie St tram routes to Cascades, Proctor's Road (Dynnyrne) and Sandy Bay had been replaced by trolley buses between 1942 and 1952.
Kessenich is one of the southern districts of the Stadtbezirk Bonn in Bonn, with Venusberg and Poppelsdorf bordering to the west, Gronau to the east, Südstadt to the north and Dottendorf to the south. It is connected with the inner city (Bonn-Zentrum) and Bonn central station by tramlines 61 and 62. The railway station Bonn UN Campus is located on the border between Kessenich and the district of Gronau.
By the 1970s, however, not every tram line displaced by urban redevelopment was being replaced. Nevertheless, throughout the Perestroika years and the ensuing economic traumas, the city retained its network of ten tramlines. There was no major tram line decommissioning till 1999, although there were also no significant new trams purchases during the closing decades of the twentieth century. There was a general overhaul of the existing tram fleet, however.
However, by the time the station was opened, the city's horse tram network was already well established and by 1901 the tramlines were converted to electricity. This limited the station's usage. It was closed to passenger services on 24 September 1928 - the first station on the Great Central Main Line to close. The line itself closed on 5 September 1966 to passengers and completely on 25 March 1968.

Examples include the City Hall, O2 Academy, Plug, and the Lyceum and Crucible theatres. Sheffield city centre is host to its own music festival, Tramlines. This event, entry to which is free, was first organised in 2009 and takes place at several venues across Sheffield, notably in the city centre.
Before the use of locomotives, railway track was used at various stages of the canal system to link locations to which the waterways could not reach. Railway siding formation still exists although the tracks have been removed. The siding runs in a generally east–west direction across the site, both under and adjacent to the gantry. The remains of a separate network of tramlines through the site also remain although the track, itself, has been removed. The tramline remains connect the Number One shaft under the headframe with the workshops and stores site, boiler house, and sawmill.
The Kassel tramway network is a network of tramways, forming part of the public transport system in Kassel, a city in the north of the federal state of Hesse, Germany. , the Kassel tram network is made up of seven regular tramlines. Opened in 1877 as a steam tramway from Wilhelmshöhe the Königsplatz (Royal Square), the network has been operated since 1897 by Kasseler Verkehrs- Gesellschaft (KVG). The track gauge is .
The tramways expanded rapidly, and suburban growth was encouraged by the lines. By the early 20th century, tramlines ran from the city depot to North Hobart, Lenah Valley, Springfield, Glenorchy, Cascade Brewery, Proctor's Road, and Sandy Bay. Single deck trams were introduced in 1906, and the Hobart City Council took over control of the company in 1912, renaming it the Hobart Metropolitan Tramways. Electric trolley buses were introduced in 1935.

De Bokkenpruik left In 1880, plans were being drafted for the building of tramlines from Zwolle to Coevorden and from Avereest to Gramsbergen. The mayor of Hardenberg, Willem van Ittersum, offered subsidies if that last line went to Hardenberg instead of Gramsbergen. In 1886, the first sod was turned by the Dedemsvaartsche Stoomtramweg-Maatschappij (a Dutch steam tramway company). For financial reasons (no bridge needed), the company decided to let the line end in Heemse.
The supporting slot attracted some interest from music journalists, with Drowned In Sound dubbing Junk Room "a big fat stomp through psychedelia and desert rock". The band released their next single, "Berlin" as another free download on their official website on 18 July 2011. Dead Sons performed at Tramlines Festival 2011 at Main outdoor stage on Sunday 24 July, shortly followed by a show with Club NME at Koko on Friday 29 July.
Trams on the new Galata Bridge (c.1912). Istanbul inaugurated horse trams in 1872 and these served the people of Istanbul until 1912. Following this date, electric trams were put in place and they were the main means for urban public transport until 1966. Many additional tramlines were added over time, and the system reached its greatest extent in 1956 with 108 million passengers carried by 270 tram-cars on 56 tram lines.

Transport within Collingwood consists mainly of narrow one-way streets. The suburb is bounded by main roads: Smith Street to the west, Victoria Parade to the south, Hoddle Street to the east and Alexandra Parade to the north. Major tramlines are on Victoria Street (tram route 109) and Smith Street (route 86), which are on the edge of the suburb. Johnston, Wellington and Langridge Streets are the main arterials going through the suburb.
To this day, several families from Istanbul's local Armenian community live in the Kurtuluş neighbourhood of Şişli. The area was also popular with the Levantine trading families of this period who settled in Istanbul for trade or were contracted by the Ottoman Empire. Şişli attracted migrants from former possessions in Greece and the Balkans. In the late 19th century, Şişli was one of the first areas supplied with tramlines, electricity and natural gas.
Milburn returned to the venue in 2016, during a surprise gig as part of the venue's Tramlines Festival after party. In 2017,The Leadmill featured in Sheffield made independent video game, Welcome To Hanwell. The survival horror game allowed you to fight zombies beneath the iconic neon sign. This year also saw the venue begin renovation work which included tearing up the original dance floor to make way for a new one.
The third and last line connecting to Gotha station was the Ohra Valley Railway opened in 1876 to Ohrdruf and to the line to Würzburg at Gräfenroda in 1892. In 1894 the Gotha tramway was opened. The station was the junction of several tram lines. In 1929, the Thuringian Forest Railway (Thüringerwaldbahn), an overland interurban tramway was opened from Gotha station, running across the city tramlines and continuing to Bad Tabarz via Waltershausen and Friedrichroda.
In March 2008 the band released an EP consisting of three remixes of "Sundown On The Empire", three for the track "18–30" and one for "The Machine" for a total of seven tracks. On 26 July 2009, they played in their home city of Sheffield, closing the Tramlines Festival with an 80-minute gig. In the summer of 2009 they have supported Oasis on the largest stadium tour in the UK and Ireland.
Then known as Matramanweg, some institutions were established with its frontal facade facing the road and making use of the Ciliwung river view for its rear facade. Among this institutions were the STOVIA, an opium factory, and a military complex. In the late 19th-century, Pasar Senen was traversed with railway and tramlines. In 1886, a railway station was established to the east of Pasar Senen, serving as logistic station for the area.
The Nottingham Express Transit (NET) Phoenix Park to Clifton South Line runs along, in part, the old GCR line and exit behind the Silverdale Estate, through farmland and exit on Farnborough Road, near Farnborough School Technology College. This line serves residents of Silverdale with the nearest stops on Ruddington Lane in Wilford and Southchurch Drive in Clifton. After severe delays during construction, the NET Phase 2 tramlines in Nottingham became operational in 2015.
1950s saw the boom of the informal becak. Jakarta's tram system, which began in 1869 as horse-drawn trams, and would be developed up until the electric trams from 1899, would face competition with buses and faces financial issues. President Sukarno didn't believe trams was an effective system for Jakarta, and so gradually he began to stop the operation of the trams. By April 1960, tramlines only operated from Senen and Kramat to Jatinegara.
The buses did not suffer the drawback of being limited to tracks and were therefore more practical than the tram services, which from the 1930s went into decline. The tramlines along Northenden Road were removed between 1932 and 1934, and throughout Sale in the 1940s. The Metrolink system connects Sale with other locations in Greater Manchester. Trams depart the town's three stations at least every 12 minutes between 07:00 and 22:30 every day.
Alphonse Loubat Alphonse Loubat (15 June 1799 – 10 September 1866) was a French inventor who developed improvements in tram and rail equipment, and helped develop tram lines in New York City and Paris. Loubat was born in Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot. He went to New York City in 1827 where he helped develop that city's first tramway in 1832. He returned to France and in 1852 developed the grooved rail, which greatly facilitated street railways and tramlines.
Although this stretch has houses with equal grandeur to those on more northern Teréz Körút and Szent István körút, the vast majority have less friezework and fewer storeys. This boulevard, a major thoroughfare with tramlines (trams 4 and 6, now served by Combino trams) in the middle, is also fast becoming dominated by eateries, partly due to its proximity to Ráday utca and to some open-air music venues on the nearby Buda bridgehead of Petőfi híd.
A bus station and tramlines were integrated into the centre from its opening Chermside Drive-In Shopping Centre (Now Westfield Chermside) was opened on 31 May 1957 by the then Premier of Queensland Vince Gair. Police were needed to keep an estimated 15,000 shoppers who had queued to secure bargains. It was marketed as the first suburban-style, post-war shopping precinct in the southern hemisphere. The shopping centre was air-conditioned and had a modern design.
Though a short, quietly spoken woman she captivated her audience with her brilliant oration. She developed a firm friendship with suffragette Nina Boyle and became a pioneer in organising unions for women and in the fight for women’s votes and for equality of pay and opportunity. While the Lockout was underway back in Wexford in 1911, Mary was involved in two Johannesburg tramway strikes. The strikers sat on tramlines to stop scab drivers from leaving the depots.
He was the third son of Sir Nathaniel Staples, 11th Baronet of Lissan House near Cookstown in Co. Tyrone. He became one of Ulster's best known artists. Known as the "barefoot baronet", he refused to wear shoes as he believed that leather soles would block out natural electricity from the earth and thus impair the health. He would travel to Belfast solely to walk on the tramlines as he believed this extra boost of electricity would be especially beneficial.
Kraków Main railway station Transport in Kraków is based around a fairly dense network of tramway and bus lines operated by a municipal company, supplemented by a number of private minibus operators. Local trains connect some of the suburbs. The bulk of the city’s historic area has been turned into a pedestrian zone with golf buggies, rickshaws and horse buggies; however, the tramlines run within a three-block radius.Marek Strzala, Rail connections are available to most Polish cities.
In 1902, Claremont Teachers College, in the suburb of Claremont, became the first post-secondary educational institute in Western Australia. Tramlines being laid along High Street in Fremantle in 1905 In 1903, a pipeline from Mundaring Weir to Kalgoorlie opened. This was a major achievement for its time by the state's first Engineer-in-Chief C. Y. O'Connor. In 1911, the University of Western Australia became Perth's first university, but it was not until 1913 that tuition began.
The majority of the tramlines were removed by Bundaberg Sugar as part of an agreement with landowners from whom the tramline corridor was leased. The section of line covered by this entry represents its use as a transport system for both cane and passengers and as an unusual feature of the Nambour. The former Moreton Mill Site was purchased by Coles who have developed a multi-storey shopping complex trading under the title 'Nambour Mill Village'.
In 1894 Alexandre Grammont, an entrepreneurial industrialist, and Edmond Faye, an entrepreneurial banker, applied for a concession to create an electric tram network. A lengthy period of deliberation and negotiation followed. The installation of tramlines would require holes to be made in Besançon's formidable and, in many parts, ancient city fortifications. However, on 26 February 1896 an agreement was signed for the construction of six single-track tram lines, using a , and incorporating sufficient passing places.

Since the mid-1990s, the vehicle fleet has been renewed with the procurement of low- floor trams, so that the articulated trams of the 1960s and 1970s have been largely taken out of operations. The older vehicles are still in use only on tram line 5. The latest enhancements to the tram network are the tramlines on Brauerstraße (2000), to the European School (2000), to Wolfartsweier (2004) and to Nordstadt (2006).
The pace of network expansion slowed down in the 1920s, but in 1924 a tram link was provided to the city crematorium (today the site of the Mitschurinets Cemetery Nr.1) and there was a tram line extension constructed to the recently opened Devau airport, a couple of miles to the north of the city. The 1920s and 1930s were decades of extensive urban and infrastructure redevelopment in and around Königsberg, and this went hand in hand with further improvements, reconfigurations and extensions to the tram network, which reached its greatest extent, at a total of , in 1937. On 19 September 1929 a new mainline station ("Königsberg Hauptbahnhof") was opened on the south side of the city, and three tramlines that had previously served the old main station were adapted to serve the new one, with a new four platform tram halt. The new mainline terminus also involved construction of a new railway junction station in the city which drove further adjustments to the tram network, and the opportunity was taken to reconfigure several other city tramlines at the same time.
24 However, the tram project was only seriously considered starting in 1990. The development of the system was given to SOFRETU (now Systra), which proposed the building of two tramlines: one north-south line (which would eventually become Line A), and an east-west line. In 1996, bids were solicited for the rolling stock for the tramway. Alstom proposed that Alstom Citadis trams be used for the system, and Alstom Citadis trams were bought for Line A on 14 October 1996.
Standard Fare toured extensively around the UK between 2008-2010. They travelled to the US in March 2010 where they toured along the East Coast of the United States before heading to play at SXSW, Austin, Texas. They returned to the US in September 2010 and played at Athens Popfest, Athens, Georgia. Standard Fare have also appeared on the bills at London Popfest, Les Sons du Nord, Noyelle- sous-Lens, France, Latitude Festival, Indietracks, Tramlines, In The City, and Farmfest.
London Trolleybus Routes, Hugh Taylor, Capital Transport, 1994 In 1946, a change in policy meant that all remaining tramlines would be replaced by diesel buses. As trolleybuses were bigger than diesel buses (70 seats compared to 56), this meant that more diesel buses were required. It was hoped, however, that this would result in fewer uncollected fares on the smaller vehicles. In 1948, a new batch of 77 trolleybuses replaced the Diddlers, and those which had been destroyed by enemy action.
Page released two singles, the first being "Walk Away Slow", followed by "On Your Head" on 24 May 2010, included on her début album Walk Away Slow, which was due for release on 20 September 2010 and created in a promotional format but never actually released. Her songs have been played on national television on shows such as Live from Studio Five and GMTV. In 2010, she was present at many of that year's festivals including Hard Rock Calling, Tramlines and V Festival.
The Italianate architecture of the Dublin and Drogheda Railway station buildings are the focal point of the street. The street was one of the boundaries of Dublin's red-light district, Monto, that existed between the 1860s - 1920s. The street links the International Financial Services Centre and the Custom House Quay across the tramlines of the LUAS where there is street level tram terminal and interchange for the trains in Dublin Connolly. Across the road over the pedestrian crossing is Talbot Street.
In 1918 Frampton Mine, one of the more consistent operations at Norton employed four men to work the mine and although a 10-head stamper battery had been acquired this was not set up until 1923. In 1924 tramlines were laid down connecting the mine and the battery. In 1927 it was reported that a good crushing plant was available but the owners were unable to proceed with crushing. In 1928 a crushing of of ore was sent to Port Kembla for treatment.
The Marlborough Timber Company mill employed over 200 men and produced up to 1800 cubic metres of timber a month. Port Craig is immersed in history; the current DOC hut there is the old schoolhouse that was used in the logging days. Logs were brought to the mill along a high class tramway from the terrace forests to the west, between Port Craig and the Wairaurahiri River. Large viaducts were constructed from Australian hardwood to carry the tramlines over ravines.
Bush railway line The Makatote Tramway lies east of State Highway 4 approximately south of the village National Park, New Zealand on the western boundary of the Tongariro National Park. The track consisted of two main branches of tramlines extending in easterly and northeasterly direction. Both wooden and metal rails can still be found throughout the site. Several pits and water races were installed to serve the steam-powered log haulers and to meet the fire safety requirements of the tramway license.
The original contracts concluded in 1895 had always identified the city as the owner of any tramlines, but they had included the right for Hartmann to lease the concession to operate the trams for 35 years. The name change marked the point where Hartmann sold this concession back to the city. The next year the Siemens & Halske concession also passed to the Russian company, after which the "Russian Company for electric trams and lighting" became Nizhny Novgorod's monopoly tram operator till 1908.
The network consisted of three lines: bergbanan (funicular), stadsspårvägen (city tramway) and gruvspårvägen (mine tramway). The funicular closed in 1955 after a road up the mine was built 1949. The city line had a maximum length of and was unique due to the 1-meter gauge, double windows and heated wagons. It closed in 1958 after gradually being replaced by buses. Between 1941 and 1964, a tram was used inside the mine, with wagons bought from closed tramlines throughout Sweden.
The station was once the closest to the Douglas Bay Hotel which dominated the skyline until gutted by a devastating fire in 1988. The hotel was the focal point of the headland and built from red brick with a tower at its centre; it was famous for the Texas Bar, a Wild West-themed saloon that was open to both residents and non-residents. In latter years, a small swimming pool was built in the grounds nearby to the passing tramlines.
Lately the system used RWZ-6 tramcars from the Rīga Train and Tram Works and Russian KTM-5s. However, after the 1960s the city's tram network declined and contracted, faced by competition from the new Tbilisi Metro and a shortage of available cash for investment and infrastructure maintenance. While tram lines in downtown were one by one dismantled the network expanded in newly built suburbs till 1986. By 2000 only 8 tramlines were operating, which was down to 2 lines by 2003.
Network evolution The first stage of the Line 5, covering the from Bignami to Zara opened on 10 February 2013. The second stage, from Zara to Garibaldi FS, opened on 1 March 2014. The third stage, from Garibaldi FS to San Siro Stadio opened on 29 April 2015, with some intermediate stations not in service at that time; as of November 2015, all the stations have been opened. The metro replaced several interurban tramroutes of the original Società Trazione Elettrica Lombarda (STEL) tramlines.
After 4 October 1953, the two routes from the train station to Poppelsdorf and from Endenich to the Rheindorfer Straße were shut down for financial reasons. At this point, Bonn was down to just three tramlines. On 3 April 1955, the routes from the Venusberg and from Endenich to the station were closed also closed for financial reasons. Thus, by 1955, Bonn's tram network was reduced to just Line 1 from Dottendorf to Rhinedorf and Line 2 from Dottendorf to Beuel.
Cheatlines may be in single ("rules") or multiple ("tramlines") bands, and in one or more colours. Cheatlines migrated from the window line to below or occasionally above it. They also melded other decorative elements like stylised lightning rods, feathers, moustaches, national flags and colours, and elements of the airline's title and emblem. The popularity of cheatlines declined from the 1970s onwards and today they are comparatively rare, except in aircraft liveries which intentionally seek to induce a retro style, perhaps suggesting long tradition.
Haiti has had two different gauges on its railways. 130 km of rural line between Port-au-Prince, Saint-Marc, and Verrettes (1905–about 1960s) used gauge. Tramlines in Port-au- Prince (1878–1888 and 1896–1932), which was the first known track in Haiti, and a total of 80 km of rural line west to Léogâne and east to Manneville (1896–1950s(?)) used gauge. Totalling over 100 km of track, the plantation railways in the north and north-east most likely used .
The first passenger-carrying public railway was opened by the Swansea and Mumbles Railway at Oyster mouth in 1807, using horse-drawn carriages on existing tramlines. In 1802, Richard Trevithick designed and built the first (unnamed) steam locomotive to run on smooth rails. He was a Cornish engineer and showed off his railway invention in the Welsh mining town of Merthyr Tydfil. Before actual making the breakthrough for the first railway engine, Trevithick had been facing failures and successes along the route.
Meanwhile, Hammond, while managing to overtake and then be overtaken by May, ran afoul of the city's tramlines. Hammond caught a wheel in one of the rails and fell, shearing off the bicycle's derailleur and rendering it useless. The others continued racing and Hammond soon re-entered the race on a second bike, which was borrowed from a passer-by (who was given a lift to his work as compensation). May, meanwhile, suffered no issues whatsoever, and so was able to enjoy the car he was driving.
The 16 study participants were asked to look at a cross between two tramlines on a screen while holding down a 'default' key. They then saw a ball land in the court and had to make a decision as to whether it was in or out. On each trial, the computer signalled which was the current default option – 'in' or 'out'. The participants continued to hold down the key to accept the default and had to release it and change to another key to reject the default.
But whilst waiting for the pub to open, words are exchanged and the bet is on again. The two cars race neck-and-neck through the southern suburbs of London. But with only a few yards to go, Genevieve breaks down. As Ambrose's car is about to overtake it, its tyres become stuck in tramlines (London's tram network had closed in 1952, but many of the tracks were still in evidence when the film was made that same year) and it drives off in another direction.
Work on the mill and the tramway network continued through the 1930s, though during World War II operations at the mill fell because shipping was disrupted and there were labour shortages. After the war, the tramlines west of Nambour, bought by Maroochy Shire in 1914, ceased running and the mill purchased the line and locos. In 1951-2 an extensive program of repairs and line relaying was carried out. In 1961 diesel locomotives were purchased which necessitated strengthening bridges and laying heavier rail along the tramways.
During the 1960s all plans for expanding the tram network were put on hold while resources were concentrated on the planning of the metro and additional bus connections. At the same time plans were drawn for the termination of the tram network by the year 2000. In 1969 Helsinki city council made the decision that in the future tramlines would be confined to the inner city, while the metro would serve the suburban areas; the tram system would be terminated, at earliest in the year 2000.
Glasgow's tramlines had a highly unusual track gauge of . This was to permit standard gauge railway wagons to be operated over parts of the tram system (particularly in the Govan area) using their wheel flanges running in the slots of the tram tracks. This allowed the railway wagons to be drawn along tramway streets to access some shipyards. The shipyards provided their own small electric locomotives, running on the tramway power, to pull these wagons, principally loaded with steel for shipbuilding, from local railway freight yards.
The control centre for the Metro system is located at South Gosforth station, and the main depot and car sheds are nearby. Regent Centre's Transport Interchange also contains a large bus station and multi-storey car park. In 1902, Gosforth was linked by tramway to Wallsend, then Newcastle a year later; this tramway has long since been removed as other travel links evolved. The Gosforth Park Light Railway extended the tramlines from the High Street to the gates of Gosforth Park; this service ceased in 1930.
In 1894 the Edinburgh Street Tramway lines in Edinburgh (but not Leith or Portobello) were taken over by the Edinburgh and District Tramways Company. On 1 July 1919 Edinburgh Corporation took over the operation of the city's tramways. The system remained under the overall control of R. S. Pilcher, who had joined the company in 1918 having previously run Aberdeen's tramways. Leith Corporation took over the still horse-drawn Leith tramlines in 1904 and introduced electric traction in 1905 (the first electric system in Scotland).
During the second half of the 1880s a more crowded urban core and a developing public transport system encouraged land subdivision and suburban expansion in Brisbane, including northwest to Kelvin Grove. By 1888 the Normanby Fiveways had become a busy centre. Tramlines were laid along Kelvin Grove Road during 1897 to 1901, and by the end of 1903 the tram service extended along Kelvin Grove as far as the corner of Edmonstone Road, handy to the Newmarket Hotel. Ithaca Shire was proclaimed a town in 1902.
From the Innenstadt, Mainzer Landstraße runs through Westend, Bahnhofsviertel, Gallus, Griesheim and Nied on the way to Höchst. The road begins at Taunusanlage station, close to the Deutsche Bank Twin Towers. Between Taunusanlage and the crossroads at Platz der Republik, it passes the Westend Tower, the Frankfurter Büro Center and the City-Haus. The tramlines join Mainzer Landstraße at Platz der Republik, and the road then continues into Gallus, where it passes under Galluswarte S-Bahn station and past the Galluswarte watch tower, which marks the historic walls of Frankfurt.
Another major support slot was gained in July 2012 when they supported fellow Sheffield band Reverend & The Makers at that year's Tramlines Festival, performing in front of over 5,000 people. The single "Hangman" was released on Bonfire night of 2012, shortly followed by an over capacity crowd for their single release at The Bowery in Sheffield. Dead Sons' debut album The Hollers & The Hymns was released worldwide on 18 February 2013. In 2015, the band announced they will reform to play at least one reunion show while Arctic Monkeys are on a between-album hiatus.
The arcade's salmon pink tiles, black marble pillars and art deco shopfronts are its original decor. Tramlines also run directly above the arcade. Campbell Arcade is listed under the City of Melbourne and on the Victorian Heritage Register, under the listing for Flinders Street station (H1083). The Arcade itself was specifically added to the listing in 2015, "recognising its architectural qualities and historical significance", as the "first infrastructure to be built in the city following World War II" and as the centre of the city's suburban commuter railway system.
Opened: 1 July 1910 (electric tram); Closed: 26 July 1953 (electric tram); Opened: 27 July 1953 (diesel bus) The Cranford Street route was one of the new tramlines constructed and opened by the Board after it had electrified the lines it inherited from the private tramway companies. It remained a tram-only service until conversion to bus operation in 1953. Initially, buses ran the route of the old tramline, terminating at Westminster Street. Some services ran an extended route through to Weston Road, replacing the previous Weston Road via Springfield Road service.
This line branched from the tramlines in Oxford Street and ran down Crown Street to Cleveland Street in Surry Hills, then south along Baptist Street to Phillip Street, where it swung left into Crescent Street before running south along Dowling Street. It passed the Dowling Street Tram Depot, then turned left into Todman Avenue where it terminated at West Kensington. Services operated full-time from Circular Quay, and to Railway Square in peak hours. The line opened in 1881 down Crown Street as far as Cleveland Street as a steam tramway.
Sydney Municipal Council began widening the major routes into the city centre in 1911, including the construction of Broadway and the widening of the cutting on Parramatta Road adjacent to Sydney University. In the 1920s, the road was sealed and tramlines were removed from the road. Sheep and cattle were still crossing Parramatta Road at Homebush as late as the 1960s. In 2012 it was announced that the road would be widened and lowered below street level in a "slot" as part of the Roads and Maritime Services WestConnex motorway proposal.
The first Formula One race was held on 14 August 1958 in Boavista. This circuit was situated in a hazardous area; it was laid out through the town and included sections of cobbled street and even tramlines. British drivers Stirling Moss in a Vanwall and Mike Hawthorn in a Ferrari were at the top of the championship table, battling it out for the first eight rain-interrupted laps. Moss then pulled away as Hawthorn slipped behind Frenchman Jean Behra in a BRM until the British car hit spark plug problems.
It was sealed in the late 1800s and got gas street lamps in 1860s. The historic area of upper Cuba Street near Tonks Ave and Arthur Street was majorly re-formed due to a controversial inner city bypass road that was completed in 2007. For 60 years Cuba Street was an electric tram line (1904–1964) as part of the Wellington tramway system. After the tramlines were removed and following public pressure the middle section of the street closed to traffic in 1969 to become a pedestrian mall and has remained so.
East Melbourne is served by major tramlines on Wellington Parade and Victoria Parade, both connecting with the CBD in the western edge of the suburb. East Melbourne is also served by rail, with two main stations, Parliament underground station on Spring Street (part of the City Loop that runs underneath Melbourne) and Jolimont, on the Hurstbridge and Mernda lines, which is used primarily by patrons attending events at the MCG. Punt Road and Hoddle Street, both on the suburb's eastern boundary, is a major road for bus routes in the area.
The Strzelecki line opened on 29 June 1922, serving the farms of the Strzelecki Ranges. Sheep and/or cattle loading facilities were provided at all stations except Heath Hill, with goods loading and storage facilities at all stations except Athlone. Two years after the line opened, two goods sidings, situated between Koo Wee Rup and Bayles, were provided: Plowrights siding and Water Washed Sand siding. Narrow-gauge tramlines ran from both sidings to the main Koo Wee Rup drain, and were used for transporting river- washed sand to the main line.
In January 1907, the Moreton Central Sugar Mill Company was handed back as a private enterprise. The London Bank was paid off by 1914, due to the sale of the mill's western tramline to the Maroochy Shire Council after cold weather had convinced cane farmers to the west of Nambour to convert to dairy farming. Experiments in 1909 by the Moreton mill had shown that cane tramlines could be used for public transport, and the Shire Council extended the two foot gauge tramline to Mapleton in 1914. From this time forward the mill's fortunes improved.
Some trailer-tramcars taken over from local mountain railway systems retained their existing numbers which already conformed to this scheme, while trailer-tramcars acquired for the city tramway or for the old Innsbruck-Hall railway (Now Line 4) had their numbers changed. The goods wagons operating on the tram network were all renumbered with a new three- digit code, starting with a 2. In 1912, the L.B.I.H.i.T was operating four single-track tramlines, using 31 powered tramcars, 33 unpowered trailer- tramcars, 6 goods wagon and a snow plow wagon.
The Reichenauer Bridge had to be renewed and the Haller Street widened to four lanes, which would require a major rebuild for the tramlines using it. The decision was instead taken to remove the rail tracks from the road and operate the service with buses. The last tram ran on Line 4 on 6 June 1974 and the bus service along the route was inaugurated on 7 June 1974. Much of the rolling stock used for the former Hall-in-Tirol line had become very old and was now retired.
In the arena of public health, it enforced a rationalisation of health laws in 1913, with the so-called "Sanitary Codex". In the social sphere, the prefectures were called upon to mediate in labour conflicts and improve working conditions, in collaboration with the government labour office, and to "municipalise" essential services like tramlines, streetlighting, kindergartens, etc. In this area too, their powers and administrative role expanded. Although the Ministry continued its ordinary role in maintaining security, order and health during the First World War, its overall structure was not significantly modified.
The Adelaide Metro is a brand introduced in April 2000 following the second round of tenders privatisation of formerly government-operated bus services."Adelaide Metro Introduced" Australian Bus Panorama issue 16/1 August 2000 page 12 Previously, the public transport system in Adelaide has been known under several names. The State Transport Authority was formed in 1974, combining the metropolitan rail operations of the former South Australian Railways Commission, and the bus and tram operations of the former Municipal Tramways Trust. Adelaide removed all tramlines during the 1960s leaving only the Glenelg line.
Heritage tram lines that offer scheduled service on a certain route and showcase historic aspects of streetcar systems are usually operated by heritage vehicles. Heritage tramlines that operate on a rail network that mainly serves the interest of modern urban mobility have difficulty in exhibiting historic tramway infrastructure, apart from the car itself. This kind of tramline is often operated mainly to attract tourists instead of providing urban access. Some technical aspects of historic tram infrastructure can prevent the use of a heritage line as an integral part of the public transport system.
He remained in the group until their 2010 hiatus but when they reformed in January 2012 Nicholson was replaced by his friend and former bandmate in The Book Club, Joe Carnall. Nicholson is currently producing and performing in hip-hop group Clubs & Spades with Maticmouth from Reverend Soundsystem. They made their live début at The Plug on Saturday 20 July 2013 as part of Tramlines Festival and their début album Stand Up was released on Monday 22 July 2013. He is also part of production duo Sticky Blood with Jamie Shield.
2011 saw the band play another sold-out show at the Silver Hips club on the night before heading into the studio with James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses, Grammatics) to record their debut EP Wax & Gold. The EP dropped on 8 August 2011. In support of its release, the band took to the stage at various festivals over the summer including Live at Leeds, Newcastle's Evolution and Sheffield's Tramlines along with confirmed performances at both Yorkshire's Beacons and London's Leefest. Nearly a year after Wax & Gold was released, the band announced its break-up.
In 2012, the band played a number of UK music festivals including Beatherder, Beacons and Sheffield's Tramlines Festival. As well as performing at many UK venues, The Soul Circle Gang released their first single, "Fresh Fruit", in late 2012. Following the retirement of The Soul Circle Gang, Rose continued her soul circle journey of exploring African music interposed with contemporary modern music, coining the term "Afropolitan Melodies". Lara Rose & the Afropolitan Melodies incorporate the Yoruba language into soulful melodic songs stripped down to voice and guitar accompaniment performed by Rose.
The show was heavily rumoured to be a secret set at Sheffield's Tramlines Festival to mark the five-year anniversary of the band's first show, though they later made it clear that it was simply a rumour and nothing more. Dead Sons started work on a second album, but these plans were later postponed. Tom Rowley went on to become the fifth member of the Arctic Monkeys and has been on two world tours with the band as well as writing on the band's new album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. Luke Baker, Joe Green and Ryan Sellars continued under the moniker 'Howls'.
Broadmeadow was originally part of the Newcastle Pasturage Reserve of 648 hectares. It developed around the Great Northern Railway, the road to Newcastle's western suburbs and the construction of the Sydney to Newcastle Railway in the 1880s. Nineways is a major intersection at Broadmeadow, originally constructed as a landscaped garden in the centre of a roundabout at the intersection of nine roads/tramlines that converge there, the area was later reconstructed to have a set of traffic lights connected to only four roads. The other roads that accessed the roundabout were variously partly or fully closed off.
There are many different themes seen throughout the short film. These themes include "impressions of a man, a tram and an unidentified city at night (the opening titles identify a specific Brussels street, but the ambiance seems East European)." Much of it seems to be a dream that comes from his fixation with specific objects on the tram. There is a more general view of the streets he wanders at night, but even when he seems to wake up at the end of the film (after experiencing some kind of revelation), he finds tramlines running through the middle of his room.
The more modern and efficient all-electric gin built in 1933 was the first of its kind in the area. Residents of Rison owned and operated a dozen or more sawmills. The largest lumber mills were the J. I. Porter Lumber Company and the Clio Lumber Company. The Clio mill was built in 1887 five miles north of Rison. According to a 1909 issue of Lumberman’s Magazine, the Clio mill owned several thousand acres of timberland and had 432 employees in the sawmill, 130 on the woods crew, and eighty operating the tramlines that transported the logs to the mill.
The sawmilling industry saw a high production period from 1907 to 1915, at the end of which the Great War saw many men enlist, and then another boom from 1923 to 1930, after which the onset of the Great Depression saw production greatly reduce as demand fell. In these times of highest production, there was in excess of of timber sent out each year over the tramlines to Cheviot. The Yea Dairy Company was formed in 1891. Creameries around the district substantially increased the income of local farmers, and considerable amounts of butter were shipped to Melbourne.
One of the two foot tunnels to the platforms has been lengthened to the Wagner Biro Straße giving access to the station from the west as well. The railway bridge over the Eggenberger Straße has also been rebuilt to make space for extra tracks. A new local transport hub for trams and buses has been built on and under the station forecourt to connect all four tram lines to the station which run through the local area. Up until recently two of these tramlines used to terminate on the station forecourt while the other two passed the station nearby.
In more recent years, The Leadmill has continued to host emerging and world renowned artists with gigs from Sam Fender, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Marmozets, Tom Walker, Mahalia, Peace, Pale Waves, Jake Shears, Tom Grennan, Miles Kane, Shame, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Jimmy Eat World and Jorja Smith. In 2019, the venue was chosen alongside Cambridge Junction to host the return gigs of Bombay Bicycle Club. Leadmill Road was closed during Tramlines weekend in 2019 while the venue occupied it for a street party, welcoming over 2,000 festival goers. Additional elements included an outdoor bar, carnival performers and street food.
The Strasbourg tramway (, ; ), run by the CTS, is a network of six tramlines, A, B, C, D, E and F that operate in the city of Strasbourg in Alsace, France, and Kehl in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The first tramline in Strasbourg, which was originally horse-drawn, opened in 1878. After 1894, when an electric-powered tram system was introduced, a widespread network of tramways was built, including several longer-distance lines on both sides of the Rhine. Use of the system declined from the 1930s onwards, and the service closed in 1960 in parallel with many other tramways at the time.
The local iwi, Ngāti Maru, called the area Waiwhakauaeranga ("waters of the stacked jaw bones") in memory of a battle after which they piled the jaw bones of their enemies on the side of the river. The valley was a rich source of kauri timber, and numerous dams and several tramlines were built to facilitate harvesting in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In some parts of the valley, farms were established with five lots made available in 1880. Lack of roads and severe weather made farming difficult, so land was allowed to revert to bush.
With the demise of the Longbridge Motor Factory there is little in the way of major employment in the immediate area. Rednal barely existed prior to the factory, coming into being in its current form as a result of four events. Firstly the opening of the Austin motor works at Longbridge in 1905, secondly the extension of the area of the City of Birmingham to the northern boundary of Cofton Hackett in 1911. Thirdly the break-up of the Earl of Plymouth's estate by auction in 1919, and lastly the extension of the Birmingham tramlines to the Rednal terminus in 1924.
Tramlines 2011 took place from 22 to 24 July, with an estimated 175,000 revellers in attendance. Over 70 venues took part, with four main stages and at least 200 live acts. Headliners and other notable acts included Ash, Olly Murs, Pixie Lott, The Futureheads, Heaven 17, Dananananaykroyd, David Rodigan, Dry The River, Michael Prophet, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Los Campesinos!, Rolo Tomassi, Dead Sons, Skint & Demoralised, The Crookes and Toddla T. New additions were made to the festival, including 'The Folk Forest', a folk music event taking place in Endcliffe Park, 1.5 miles from the city centre.
Later in the 1960s competition from buses increased. Investment in new tramlines stopped, and a project already underway to build a new tram bridge across the Oka River was not completed. Competition for investment intensified in 1977 when work began on the city metro system, and competition for passengers on the busiest lines intensified further after 1985 when the first stretch of Metro line became operational. From the mid-1980s there was nevertheless a return to tram investment, but following the economic challenges posed by the Perestroika revolution, there was also an increased emphasis on efficiency.
The endowment continued to be paid to the poor of Ayr and Prestwick until 1924, although leprosy had long ceased to exist in Scotland. The village was home to a renowned Turkish barber, known locally as Big Boko Haram, who specialised in tramlines, stars and more traditional buzz cuts. A wheen of amateur football stars have cut there teeth on the playing fields of loans and moved on to bigger clubs such as moss blown and Polnessan. The locals also claim Rabbie burns “shagged” his first bit of skirt in the basement of the old loans inn.
In 2007 following widening of North Terrace to create space for two tramlines, the Balfours Pie Cart, which sold pie floaters, was removed from its location. Following licence variations formalised on 11 October 2013, Skycity Adelaide's casino licence gave Adelaide Casino a monopoly on table games and automated table game product in South Australia until 30 June 2035 (a 20-year extension of the original exclusivity), along with new duty arrangements. The Adelaide Casino competes for gaming machine (slot) business with South Australia's hotels and licensed clubs (of which about 480 are licensed to operate just over 12,400 machines).
Having sold around 10 million copies worldwide, Stereophonics are one of the most successful Welsh rock acts. Upon their release of Pull the Pin, they achieved five consecutive UK number one albums. The band have also been praised for their live performances, which have landed them headlining slots at many of the UK and Ireland's most high-profile music festivals, including Reading and Leeds in 2000, Glastonbury in 2002, V festival in 2002, the Isle of Wight in 2004 and 2009, Oxegen in 2010, Tramlines Festival and TRNSMT in 2018, and Latitude in 2019. The band is part of the Cardiff music scene.
On 28 October 1940, the tramways of Athens participated in recruitment for the war. After the Occupation started, the decline of Athens' tramway began, as some tramlines were abolished. However, the real decline of the network took place when the crews of Ministry of Public Works dramatically dismantled the tracks at the Haftia node during the first morning hours of 16 November 1953, resulting in the decommissioning of the lines Patisia–Ampelokipi and Kipseli–Pagrati. The last jingle from a bell of an Athens tram was heard outside of the depot at Aghia Triada Keramikou, at midnight of 15/16 October 1960.
Singles involves two players competing against each other, usually two men or two women, although games between a man and a woman may be played on an informal basis or as exhibitions. Doubles is played by two teams of two players each, most often all-male or all-female. It utilizes a wider court than singles matches: it includes the area in the alley (tramlines, in British terminology), whereas singles does not. The two players on the receiving side change positions after each point played (one at the net and the other near the baseline, preparing to return serve).
Land prices increased rapidly when local landowners became aware of the value of their trees. It was important for timberland to be near the railroad as the cost of extending logging tramlines through the difficult terrain was estimated at $1,000 per mile Much of the timber in the county was cut with the land being then repurposed for agriculture. The industry did not manage the forests to support future harvest. Missouri tax law discouraged this as it taxed cut and uncut land at the same rate; it was not profitable to replant and wait decades for a new crop.
Maiden voyage of the first electrified tram on the Bonn- Godesberg Mehlem line on 24 July 1911. A steam tramline was started on 22 May 1892 that connected Bonn with Godesberg Mehlem. As with the horse tramlines, this steam tram line came into the possession of the city of Bonn on 15 and 17 October 1904, thought this line was co-owned with the city of then-independent city of Godesberg. The steam operation in 1911 was revamped in three stages, and converted to a standard gauge electrified tramline; at the same time, the terminus was also relocated to Kaiserplatz in Bonn.
It was immediately playlisted on BBC Radio Wales, Virgin Radio UK. and Indie FM 103.1 Los Angeles. The single "Always Something" was released 31 March 2017, coinciding with two summer 2017 festival announcements: a headline slot on the Crystal Stage at Tramlines Festival 2017 and an appearance on the Calling Out Stage at Kendal Calling 2017. On 9 November 2016, it was announced by BBC Music that Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles had been awarded Horizons Launchpad 2016 funding for new music development. Billy Bibby and Matt Thomas were interviewed by Eleri Siôn of BBC Radio Wales about the award the same day.
The company was compulsorily bought out by the Council, and they transferred control to the government-operated Hobart Municipal Tramways. Hobart Municipal Tramways and the Hobart City Council began an expansion programme which doubled the size of the network within ten years. The network's growth was barely affected by the outbreak of World War I. The tramways expanded rapidly, and suburban growth followed the lines, spurred on by the availability of a cheap and efficient commuter service. By the mid-1920s tramlines ran from the city depot to North Hobart, Lenah Valley, Springfield, Glenorchy, Cascade Brewery, Proctor's Road, and Sandy Bay.
Coyle Park and Point Chevalier Beach were popular destinations for family outings during the interwar period, particularly in summer. Tramlines ran down Point Chevalier Road to Coyle Park, near the beach; during summer, special trams were laid on during summer to transport people from Grey Lynn, while buses brought others from Mount Albert and other suburbs in West Auckland. Following the Second World War, the combination of increased car ownership and the Auckland Harbour Bridge (1959) resulted in a complete reversal of this activity. The once crowded beach was deserted, and the various businesses that had prospered on the summer trade closed down or relocated.
Whilst the tramlines were removed during the 1950s, the broadness of Point Chevalier Road - otherwise atypical for a fairly small suburb - and the paved-over roundabout terminus near Coyle Park both remain as evidence of their presence. Due to sand loss and degradation over the 20th century, Point Chevalier Beach was resanded in 2008 with 16,000 cubic metres of sand from Pakiri Beach pumped onto the foreshore, creating a more usable beach area. The resanding has attracted larger numbers of summer visitors in the years since, making the northern part of Point Chevalier busy (and sometimes congested with vehicles) on fine weekends and holidays and at festival times.
In the first half of the 20th century, Croydon had many tramlines. The first to close was the Addiscombe – East Croydon Station route through George Street to Cherry Orchard Road in 1927 and the last was the Purley - Embankment and Croydon (Coombe Road) - Thornton Heath routes closed April 1951. However, in the Spring of 1950, the Highways Committee were presented by the Mayor with the concept of running trams between East Croydon station and the new estate being constructed at New Addington. This was based on the fact that the Feltham cars used in Croydon were going to Leeds to serve their new estates on reserved tracks.
Opened: 1 November 1912 (electric tram); Closed: 1 November 1936 (electric tram); Opened: 2 November 1936 (diesel bus) Trams first served Dallington when the Board opened an extension of the Worcester Street line to the suburb in 1912. It was one of the last tramlines to be built in Christchurch and also one of the first to be closed by the Board. At first, patronage was light enough that express services were not required. When peak loadings on the Wainoni route were particularly heavy, Dallington buses were used to transfer passengers from their own route to Wainoni services at Woodham Road, an arrangement that lasted until August 1946.
Opened: 14 February 1949 (diesel bus); Closed: 27 July 1953 One of many areas to experience residential development in post-World War 2 Christchurch was a strip of land running southwest – northeast between Innes Road and McFaddens Road. This area was not well served by public transport, with the nearest tramlines being those to Cranford Street and St. Albans Park. There was no prospect of these lines being extended, as an earlier proposal from the 1920s to link the St. Albans Park line to the North Beach line had been scrapped. For either of these routes to connect to this area the trams would first have to be withdrawn.
It proposed borrowing £340,000 for a series of improvements including the acquisition of new rolling stock, upgraded workshops, double-tracking and new passing loops, and new routes and route extensions. The loan was raised and many of these works were carried out but by the time the Board could seriously consider the issue of the new routes it discovered that post-war inflation had dramatically increased the cost of laying tramlines. As a consequence only two of the proposed seven routes were actually constructed, those being a line along Lichfield Street to connect Oxford Terrace to Colombo Street and an extension of the Spreydon Line.
Notable performances at Isle of Wight Festival, Camden Rocks Festival, Tramlines, The Great Escape and a live streamed Pirate Studios session on Facebook; along with a performance live on Radio X and a series of radio plays has seen the bands popularity grow significantly. The band toured the new EP in October and November of 2018, concluded with a sold out show at London's famous The 100 Club, which was attended by former England defender Stuart Pearce, after championing the band on TalkSport. On April Fools day, 1 April 2019, premiered their new Brexit themed single 'April Fools' on John Kennedy's Radio X show.
In concordance with the reintroduction of trams in Luxembourg, major redesign and renovation work occurred between 2014 and 2017, with a temporary bridge constructed parallel operating in the interim. The Adolphe Bridge was widened and reinforced to accommodate the new tramlines installed on its upper-deck. Additionally, a 154 m long and 4 m wide lower deck was suspended beneath the existing deck, between the arches of the bridge, to act as dedicated bidirectional bicycle path and footpath. Bicycle-friendly sloped approaches were dug on the western side of both ends of the bridge, and an additional stairwell was added on the eastern side of the Ville Haute approach.
The first electric tram service in Liège, which was also the first electric tram service in Belgium, opened to the public on 9 August 1893, connecting the northern Coronmeuse quarter with Herstal, to the east of the city. Only 200 meters of the line actually ran in the city centre. On 22 October 1896 the two principal horse-powered tramlines were converted to electric power, so that there was now an electric tram crossing the city centre. In 1897 a line was added connecting Chênée (then considered a separate town) with the centre of the city, and Angleur received a tram connection in 1905.
Thomson became the Assistant Burgh Engineer after the constructions of Perth Road and tramlines. After the death of William Alexander, he was appointed as City Architect, and in August 1906, he was given the post of City Engineer in succession to Mackison, becoming, in pursuance of the council's Policy of Consolidation, the joint holder of the offices of City Architect and Engineer. In October 1922, the Town Council decided to separate the offices of City Engineering and City Architect, which the latter office embraced the duties of Housing Director. Thomson was relieved of the office of City Engineer and became City Architect and Housing Director.
Horse tramlines in front of the White Hart Hotel, Oxford Road Horse trams at Cemetery Junction on 15 July 1893 The origins of Reading Transport can be traced back to 1878, when the privately owned Reading Tramways Company (part of the Imperial Tramways Company) was formed. They were initially authorised to construct and operate a horse tram route on an east-west alignment from Oxford Road through Broad Street in the town centre to Cemetery Junction. Significantly, this route formed the core of what became known as the main line of the tram and trolleybus network. Construction started in January 1879, with the entire line being open by May.
Monsanto Park Circuit The Circuito de Monsanto, or Monsanto Park Circuit, was a 5.440 km (3.380-mi) race track in Monsanto Forest Park, near Lisbon, Portugal which hosted the Portuguese Grand Prix. Built on parklands, the circuit was considered difficult to drive because it crossed so many different types of surfaces, including tramlines at one point. The track hosted numerous races from 1954 to 1959, but only one race qualified as a Formula One event: the 1959 Portuguese Grand Prix, won by Stirling Moss. He won the race in the twilight hours, since the race was purposely started late in the day to avoid the intense late summer sun.
After this, there remained in Innsbruck only four of the old DÜWAG articulated trams which had formed the backbone of the city fleet during the closing years of the 20th century. The first of the low-floor Bombardier trams was certified on 11 March 2008 and entered service on Line 1 on 27 March 2008. Frequency on the Stubai Valley Railway was improved, with departures on the busy part of the line as far as Kreith every 30 minutes. Further service improvements and further retirements of the old stock followed, so that by July 2009 all the tramlines were operated exclusively by low-floor tramcars.
Tramlines Festival 2010 was held from 23 to 25 July. 250 artists performed, and several venues were added, including Sheffield University's Octagon Centre, Tudor Square, The Leadmill, O2 Academy Sheffield, Winter Gardens and the main stage at Devonshire Green increased in capacity from 5,000 to 8,000. Headliners were Echo and the Bunnymen, Mystery Jets, Simian Mobile Disco DJ set, Professor Green, Tinchy Stryder, Future of the Left, Darwin Deez, Macka B, The King Blues, The Hoosiers, Craig David, Dum Dum Girls, Annie Mac and Toddla T. The festival remained free, and the wristband system was scrapped, replaced with a first-come-first-served turnstile system. The festival attracted 65,000 people.
The earlier schemes to extend the lines further into the city would have been prohibitively expensive and would have required large scale resumptions. The site of the Old Burial ground was, in comparison, relatively easily obtainable as no private land was involved. Due to the extent of the resumption there would, in addition to a terminus, be room for the extension of the goods yard and the erection of a carriage shed and post office. The existing lines were at a higher level than the Burial Ground, so rather than lowering the existing railway track, the tramlines were to be raised to serve a high level station.
The suburb is served by Hazel Grove railway station, which is on the Hope Valley and Buxton lines from Stockport. Hazel Grove (Midland) was situated between the railway overbridges at the south end of the town and was only open from 1902 until 1917. The local tram services to Stockport, Reddish and Manchester terminated near Norbury Church and the Rising Sun pub until about 1950, when they were replaced by buses and the cobbles on the A6 were covered by tarmac. At the start of the operation of the tram services, Hazel Grove residents were – jokingly – alleged to black- lead the tramlines early in the morning.
The first horse-tram line in Budapest was inaugurated on 30 July 1866 between Újpest-Városkapu and Kálvin tér, through Váci út. Over a year before, on 22 May 1865, the Count Sándor Károlyi founded the PKVT (Pesti Közúti Vaspálya Társaság (')). Horse tramlines in Buda proper soon followed, built by the competing Buda Public Road Rail Tracks Company (BKVT). By 1885, Budapest had as many as 15 horsecar lines but since it was obvious that the technology was obsolete. A steam-driven suburban railway line from Közvágóhíd (Slaughterhouse) to Soroksár, run by HÉV, was separately introduced in 1887; two more lines soon followed. The first electric tram lines in Budapest (1887-1889).
New Town is less a residential but a business area and known for the "Pavlak" - I.P. Pavlova station which connects Karlovo náměstí – and thus also New Town – with Náměstí Míru in Vinohrady. Tramlines cross here with Metro line C, as well as night buses and the expressway bringing cars from the D1 highway directly to the centre and through to Holešovice in the north of the city. Important sites:Charles Square- the biggest square in Prague and also among the biggest squares in Europe - with the New City Hall / Gothic town hall, Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the Botanical Gardens and several Charles University buildings in Albertov, as well as the Baroque Villa America.
Opened, to Clyde Road: November 1905 (electric tram); Opened, to Riccarton Racecourse: 12 March 1906 (electric tram); Closed: 14 June 1953 (electric tram); Opened: 15 June 1953 (diesel bus) Riccarton was one of the first new tramlines to open, initially using steam traction from 2 November 1905, and later electric trams as electrification proceeded to the terminus. The Board's Riccarton bus service did not come until nearly five decades later when they replaced the trams on 15 June 1953. This new service formed part of a cross-town service with the Sumner route. Space constraints in Cathedral Square meant that the central city terminus of the route was located on Worcester Street outside the Avon cinema.
When the system opened, the main depot was in Northumberland Street, but a new depot on Great Northern Street was opened on July 1887, with capacity for 30 locomotives and 30 tramcars. The depot included engineering facilities, as the Corporation built two additional locomotives there. The unusual track gauge of was chosen because there were a number of coal tramways in the locality, and the Corporation planned to run coal wagons around the system in addition to the passenger trams. The concept had been demonstrated to be feasible on the Portsmouth and Glasgow systems, both of which used the same gauge, but such trains did not run on the Huddersfield tramlines while there was steam haulage.
By the time Cavalcade was released in April 2015, a Manchester Academy show had sold out three weeks in advance. This was to herald a summer of festival headline slots at Far Out Festival, Headlander and the Manchester Food And Drink Festival as well as well-received sets at the Isle Of Wight Festival, Sheffield's Tramlines festival and a set at Ramsbottom Festival, which saw queues of festival attendees for the tent in which they were playing. The band finished the year with a sold out concert at Gorilla in Manchester as part of a successful national tour. Cavalcade took first place in Manchester blog's Even The Stars' albums of the year 2015 poll.
View of the hairpin during the 2018 Zürich ePrix qualifying from the mainstands on the Mythenquai. The circuit is a 2.46km long track, with 11 turn, and was designed by the CEO of e-Mobil Züri Roger Tognella and his son Andrin by using Google Earth on their home computer, unlike most circuits. The track features a mix of surfaces, with Asphalt and Concrete, and crosses several tramlines, some of which were filled for the event. In addition, it also features a mixed surface pit lane, with half the pit lane having cobblestones on the surface, which resulted in teams running adapted software for the pit limiter, due to the reduced speed limit of 30km/h.
The Leadmill has taken events beyond the venue many times including three 7,500 capacity outdoor events at Don Valley Bowl in 2018 with headliners including George Ezra, Ocean Colour Scene and Hacienda Classical. This run of events was nominated for 'Best Local Event' at the 2019 Exposed Awards. The venue also promoted several cinematic events at Sheffield General Cemetery as part of their Halloween events in 2019 including screenings of The Omen and Get Out. When Tramlines Festival made the move from a city centre festival to an all-in-one site at Hillsborough Park, The Leadmill remained part of the festival with a stage named after it, featuring up and coming artist alongside comedians.
When the city of Beijing had tram lines in operation from the 1920s to the 1950s, Line No. 4's route formed a ring-shaped loop, running 17-km clockwise through Tiananmen - Xidan - Xisi - Pinganli - Dianmen - Gulou - Jiaodaokou - Beixinqiao - Dongsi - Dongdan - Tiananmen. This route was known as the "Ring Road" (環形路). After the tramlines were removed in the 1950s, this name lost its meaning as it was simply a collection of surface streets (in contrast, each of the other ring roads today is a single expressway). Most maps in Beijing do not actually show the 1st Ring Road as such; only very few maps give a faint yellow highlight of a possible variant of it.
The Innsbruck tram network is currently organised over three routes (numbered 1, 3 and 6) and has a total length of . Electrification of the service dates back to 1905, which was rather late by comparison to cities of similar size elsewhere in Austria. The Stubai Valley Railway (or Stubaitalbahn), which shares the one-meter gauge of the city's tram system, currently is also served by trams and shares some of the city centre tramlines: it uses the same tracks as tram routes 1 and 3 between its former terminus station (known until 1983 as the Stubaitalbahnhof) and Innsbruck's main railway station. The Innsbruck tram network is operated by the Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe und Stubaitalbahn company.
The Brussels tram route 23 was a Brussels tram route operated by STIB/MIVB in Brussels, Belgium. It ran between Vanderkindere, which was also the terminus for tram route 24 and where passengers could commute with tram routes 3, 4 and 92, and the Heysel/Heizel metro station, which offers transit with the Brussels metro line 6, tram route 51 and bus routes 84 and 88. Since March 14, 2011 the newly formed tram 7 follows the same route as tram 23, but with a much higher frequency. Because of the frequency being brought up to 'metro' level, its line number was altered to the lower regions, for those are the metro and so-called 'Chrono' tramlines.
There are records of crowds as far back as the Rose and Crown up Rose Hill on busy Sundays, as families queued for the trams to take them home. The trams were removed when the trams were replaced by buses in 1953, but the terminus turning circle and its extensive waiting shelter remained in situ until well into the 1960s, and it is believed that they continued to be used by the buses on bank holidays. The original tram station offices are now used as a Chinese restaurant. A small development of retirement homes and a carpark were built on the site of the terminus, but several short lengths of tramlines are still visible on front gardens and pathways.
Despite extensive searches, only limited archival records concerning the activities at Mungana survive. The archaeological record of Mungana has the potential to answer a range of important research questions about Queensland's history through its material remains, especially potential for providing a rare opportunity to examine a complete community for its entire duration. All aspects of the town and mining operation survive in some form. Identifiable areas of archaeological interest include the mining infrastructure foundations and ruins, boilers, railway and tramlines, culverts, bottle dumps, domestic remains, a lime kiln, explosives stores, blasted access roads, a cemetery, a school, wells, a hospital site (including associated artefacts), cattle yards and public venues such as hotels.
Steam tram crossing Irvinebank bridge over Gibbs Creek, circa 1911 The Boonmoo-to-Stannary Hills and Stannary Hills-to-Irvinebank tramway formations represent two private tramways constructed between 1901 and 1907 that provided transport for the tin mining fields west of the Atherton Tablelands in north Queensland from their construction until 1936. The tramlines are on a gauge, distinct from the standard 3 ft 6 in gauge used on the Queensland government railway of the time. Sleepers and bridge spans were constructed from local timber such as cypress pine, bloodwood and spotted gum. The Boonmoo-to- Stannary Hills section was also known as Dixon's tramway, named after the engineer responsible for the construction of the first tramway.
Most of the traffic along the canal transported coal from the many collieries that existed along its length, such as Outwood Colliery and Ladyshore Colliery. Some of these pits were linked to the canal by road, and some by short tramlines. In the late 19th century as much as of coal and of other materials Retrieved on 29 June 2008 including night soil and fruit were transported annually. The canal also enabled the transport of salt from Cheshire to the many bleach and dye works in its area – hence the name of Salt Wharf on the Bolton arm of the canal. Tolls were easily calculated as milestones were placed along the towpath at ¼ mile (400 m) intervals.
The former Beaconsfield Station Sheep Wash comprises a dam, washing trough, machinery and tramlines situated on a creek bank near the site of the 19th century woolshed, north of Ilfracombe. The runs that later comprised Beaconsfield Station were first taken up in 1872, although they were acquired by southern investors and little development seems to have taken place before the property was bought by George Fairbairn in 1882. Fairbairn built one of the greatest pastoral empires in Australia, his station holdings in Queensland including Landsdowne, Barcaldine Downs, Home Creek, Bimerah, Delta, Logan Downs, Wolfgang, and Beaconsfield, which became one of Australia's premier sheep stations. At their peak, the Fairbairn stations in Queensland carried over 800,000 sheep with Beaconsfield alone commonly running 100,000 head.
Tram lines from Eddy Avenue running into Elizabeth Street in the early 1940s The West Kensington via Surry Hills Line operated from 1881 down Crown Street as far as Cleveland Street as a steam tramway. It was extended to Phillip Street in 1909, Todman Avenue in 1912, and then to its final terminus down Todman Avenue in 1937. When the line was fully operational it branched from the tramlines in Oxford Street and proceeded down Crown Street to Cleveland Street in Surry Hills, then south along Baptist Street to Phillip Street, where it swung left into Crescent Street before running south along Dowling Street. It passed the Dowling Street Depot, then tuned left into Todman Avenue, where it terminated at West Kensington.
They got their first write up on the Louder Than War music website, played their first festival (Tramlines in Sheffield at Yellow Arch Studios) and opened for James at Castlefield Bowl to 8,000 people, on 11 July 2014, which they described as a turning point in the band's future. Skelly produced their first official single "Blow", released 26 August 2014, the video being shot at the scaffolding yard that was still being used as a rehearsal space. In autumn 2014, Blossoms quit their jobs to fully pursue the band and subsequently went on to do another full UK tour, this time selling out the Manchester date, hosted by Sound Control, a venue made famous by The Stone Roses and New Order.
In March 2011, they completed a two-month tour of Europe. Beginning in Ireland at the end of January the group then travelled through France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and Great Britain. Throughout the summer of 2011 the band appeared on the stages of many UK and European festivals including: Latitude (Suffolk), The Great Escape Festival (Brighton), Friends of Mine (Manchester), Walk the Line (Den Haag), A.F.F. (Genk), Tramlines (Sheffield), Camden Crawl (London), Summer Sundae (Leicester), Belladrum (Inverness-shire) and T in the Park (Kinross-shire). At the T in the Park festival, the band recorded a live acoustic version of the track "Everybody Knows it's True" for the final show of the BBC's festival coverage.
The boundaries of Linjat are the eastern shore of Töölönlähti Bay (west), Helsinginkatu (north), Kaarlenkatu and Viides linja, cutting Karhupuisto Park in half (east) and Hämeentie (from Viides linja to Toinen linja), Toinen linja and Porthaninrinne (south). The area is served by the following public transport: Metro Hakaniemi metro station's northern exit is at the junction of Porthaninkatu, Siltasaarenkatu and Toinen linja. Tram Lines 3 and 9 run along Porthaninkatu, Viides linja and Kaarlenkatu, stopping at Kallion virastotalo (junction of Porthaninkatu and Toinen linja and Hakaniemi metro station northern exit), Karhupuisto (Viides linja) and Kaarlenkatu. In addition, lines 6 and 7 run along Hämeentie, stopping at Haapaniemi (corner of Viides linja). Also, tramlines 1 and 8 run along Helsinginkatu to the north of Linjat.
In 1995, after thirty years during which no new tramlines had actually been constructed in Innsbruck, there was a modest investment in new tracks. This involved returning a second track to the Museum Street section which again became a twin track line, and a loop round the market place. In 1996, Line 6 was threatened with closure not for the first time, but the financial support needed to keep it running was found following a deluge of signatures targeting the city authorities. In order to sustain passenger involvement at a time when nostalgia was becoming a mainstream marketing tool, two former powered cars that had operated on the line until 1981 were operated twice each day with trailers in tow.
As many tramlines ran down the middle of a road, it was common to hail a tram by walking out into the road, which became more dangerous with the faster moving motorcars. Also, traffic behind a tram that had stopped to allow for the embarkation or disembarkation of passengers was only able to pass between the tram and curb, right into the path of passengers moving between the tram and footpath. A significant portion of the Board's business was derived from the evening fares of people going out to social functions or events at places such as cinemas, dance halls, clubs, and the like. The introduction of television in the early 1960s gave people a new and more convenient way to spend their leisure time, significantly affecting the popularity of these types of activities.
One special night was at Bournemouth O2 Academy where the Starkies performed an acoustic set as Whitworth was absent to be at the birth of his children. The remaining band were joined on stage by Saul Davies who played violin on "Forever In Your Debt". Prior to the tour, the band made their first visit to Ireland and sold out The Workman's Club solely on the basis of word of mouth and the support of local radio station TXFM. In the wake of the success of the tour, the band played at several major festivals, filling out a tent at Kendal Calling, playing two sets at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth as well as appearing at Yorfest, Tramlines in Sheffield and Castlepolooza in Ireland and finally headlining the second stage at Ramsbottom Festival.

A two-foot gauge was chosen for the sake of economy, speed not being an important factor in the running of the tramway, though the wagons were at first pulled by horses. In 1897 the first tramlines were constructed east to Perrin's Barn and west to the foot of the Perwillowen Range and the first harvest was crushed at the mill. Establishing tramways proved expensive due to the nature of the terrain and there were consequent difficulties with the supply of cane to the mill, though by 1905, there were of permanent tramline in use.
In order for the mill to be successful, it was essential to establish an efficient means for bringing the harvested cane in from surrounding farms to be crushed. A two-foot (610mm) gauge was chosen for the sake of economy, speed not being an important factor in the running of the tramway, though the wagons were at first pulled by horses. In 1897 the first tramlines were constructed east to Perrin's Barn and west to the foot of the Perwillowen Range and the first harvest was crushed at the mill.
Motörhead complained about the acoustics, and it was uncomfortably cold in winter, with ice forming on the retained tramlines. As far back as the 1980s there was talk of an arena for Leeds and by that time the Queens Hall was in need of extensive modernisation to bring it up to an acceptable standard. The Queens Hall was demolished in 1989 and the site is now mostly used as a surface level car park with redevelopment taking place on part of the site for a multi-storey car park with ground floor restaurant and an office building for BT. Construction work to add two additional storeys to the Criterion Place multi-storey car park began in July 2008. The Leeds Arena, opened in 2013, became a new concert venue in Leeds.
XIV Corps attacked on the right with the 56th (1/1st London) Division next to the French Sixth Army, in co- operation with the French 2nd Division, with two battalions of the 168th Brigade while the other two on the right flank contained the Germans in Bouleaux Wood and the western defences of Combles. The brigade quickly advanced round the north of the wood, despite resistance in the embankment of the tramlines and then sent patrols towards Combles. Artillery observers reported small groups of German soldiers moving eastwards from the village. By midnight all three brigades had moved forward and at British and French troops met; by dawn a patrol met French soldiers east of the town, the 56th (1/1st London) Division line being consolidated east of Combles, with the Germans beyond in Mutton Trench.
Turrentine Jones performing at Sziget in Budapest in 2015 Following on from the release of their debut album, Turrentine Jones were labelled a "Future Classic" by Real Radio XS and went on to perform at Future Classics Live, an official show of the national radio station to "see the talent of tomorrow before they hit the big time". Their performance was brought to the attention of Marc Carey, European Director of Hard Rock Cafe, whom would later invite the band to perform on the Hard Rock Cafe stage at Isle of Wight Festival the following year. Turrentine Jones performed at a number of popular festivals across the UK including Dot To Dot Festival in both Manchester and Nottingham, Tramlines Festival and Monmouth Music Festival. On 16 August 2015 the band performed at Sziget Festival in Budapest, Europe’s largest music festival.
Pettigrew had previously written to Arthur Macalister-the Minister for Lands and Works-about a railway between his operations on the Maroochy and Mooloolah rivers, and was told that the government would not fund railways, and therefore they must be private. In 1863 Pettigrew had begun to experiment with horse-drawn wagons on timber tramlines in the yard of Dundathu and installed wooden-railed lines and turntables to transport the timber around the large sawmill. By 1864 Pettigrew had become concerned that the "unbridled competition" permitted by the Timber Regulations was causing quarrels among timber-getters and encouraged over-cutting and waste. Pettigrew wrote to Macalister in April 1864, "setting out arguments for protecting timber-getters who made improvements such as roads for the extraction of timber, but could not then prevent others from using them".
Houghton grew up in Colac (in southern Victoria ) and attended Monash University, graduating in history. His interest in railway and forest history of Victoria's Otway Ranges was nurtured from an early age and resulted in his documentation and mapping of more than 300 sawmills and 160 kilometres of timber tramlines, which were built in the area from the 1850s to the mid 20th century. Houghton worked at Sovereign Hill Historical Gold Mining Village and the Gold Museum in Ballarat and undertook assessment of the archives of the Queensland Railways, before operationally establishing the Geelong Heritage Centre as its foundation Director in 1979, where he held the role of archivist with the Geelong Historical Records Centre for many decades, and was instrumental in assisting the Geelong Historical Society to collate and compile records which formed the basis of the Heritage Centre archival collection.
Cities and countries visited on this trip would include Thailand (Bangkok), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Vietnam (Saigon), two shows in Japan (Tokyo), a show at the Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong, and a large outdoor show in the meadow at the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.Rolling Stone Indonesia, Edisi 105, January 2014, page 72-75 The year was rounded out by two sold out Christmas shows at the Leeds Academy 2014 began quietly, as the band began writing sessions for their next studio album. The only shows announced would be as part of the Weezer cruise from Florida to the Bahamas in February. Later in the year, the Cribs returned to the UK for some UK festival slots, including headlining Truck Festival and Tramlines Festival amongst others, and an Italian tour with Franz Ferdinand.
With the village spread over several separate locations the actual centre of Cofton Hackett is no longer clearly defined. The old tram terminus and the newsagent's, the Post Office in Parsonage Drive, and the village hall all have central importance. Cofton Hackett developed from the opening of the Austin motor works at Longbridge in 1905 and most of the shops are on the northern edge of the village that was transferred from Kings Norton to Cofton Hackett in 1911 together the extension of the City of Birmingham to the northern boundary of the village. The transfer of parts of Rednal to Cofton parish and the breakup of the Earl of Plymouth's estate released more land for development in 1919, and the extension of the Birmingham tramlines to the Rednal terminus in 1924 placed it within commuting distance from the city.
All other tracks were presented in chronological order. On 21 June 2010, the band released their first full-length album of mostly new material, along with a scattering of lead tracks from the previous EPs, through The Killing Moon Presents label as a digital download only via AWAL. The album was entitled Garden Rooms in memory of one of the band's former rehearsal spaces in an old Sheffield workshop, one part of which was still inhabited by Stan Shaw, a Little Mester - the name given to local master craftsmen working in Sheffield Steel whom do piece work especially making cutlery. Following another short tour in support of the release the band curated the Penelopes Stage on the Saturday at that year's Tramlines Festival, putting on a line-up including Neil McSweeney, Fallen Trees, Ray Heane with Bodhran player Ciaran Boyle, plus the band themselves.
The horse-drawn tram (horsecar) was an early form of public rail transport that developed out of industrial haulage routes that had long been in existence, and from the omnibus routes that first ran on public streets in the 1820s, using the newly improved iron or steel rail or 'tramway'. These were local versions of the stagecoach lines and picked up and dropped off passengers on a regular route, without the need to be pre-hired. Melbourne's first tram was a horse tram from Fairfield railway station to a real estate development in Thornbury; it opened on 20 December 1884, and was closed by 1890.
