It was scheduled to host a Test match (BCCI's and CCI's Platinum Jubilee Test) against England in December 2008 but the match was switched to the PCA Stadium in Mohali following the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Though the Test match took place at Mohali, the Platinum Jubilee celebrations were shelved. The ground did finally host another Test match in 2009.

Young's colleague was Bob Crockett.
Hair umpired his first Test match in January 1992, between Australia and India in Adelaide. In 1994 the International Cricket Council (ICC) introduced a policy of appointing one umpire to each Test match from a non-participating country, and since 2002 both umpires have been appointed from non-participating nations. In July 2000, the Ireland and Pakistan women's teams faced each other in a Women's Test match at College Park, Dublin. Ireland women won the match by an innings and 54 runs, with Isobel Joyce named as the player of the match. It was the first Test match played by the Ireland women's cricket team. On 22 June 2017, at the ICC's annual conference, the Ireland and Afghanistan men's teams were awarded Test status, becoming Full Members of the ICC in the process.

Devendra Bishoo also set the record for becoming the first ever bowler to take 10 wicket haul in a day night test match and was also the only spinner as well as a legspinner to achieve this milestone. The system was used again in the 2013–14 women's Ashes in Australia, with England winning 10–8, despite winning fewer matches; England won the test match, one ODI and one T20I, while Australia won two ODIs and two T20Is. For the 2015 Women's Ashes series, the points system was changed, so that four points were awarded for a test match win, rather than six. Australian coach Matthew Mott described this updated system as fairer, as "Whether you win or lose the Test match, it doesn't really disadvantage or advantage you." Australia won the series 10–6.

In 1994, the International Cricket Council introduced a policy of appointing one umpire to each Test match from a non-participating country. Ten of Randell’s matches were played outside Australia, and did not involve Australia. His last Test match involving Australia was against South Africa at Adelaide on 30 January to 3 February 1998, finishing in a draw, with captain Mark Taylor dominating the first innings with 169 and Mark Waugh scoring a century in the second innings. The 2015 International Rules Series (officially the 2015 EirGrid International Rules Test) was contested between Gaelic footballers from Ireland and Australian footballers from Australia. The 19th series of International rules football since the concept's inception in 1984, Australia entered the test as defending champions, following their 10-point victory in the solitary test match in 2014. The match was played at the headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association, Croke Park, on Saturday, 21 November. As per the previous year, the series was a single one-off test match, with the winner of the test match claiming the Cormac McAnallen Cup.
John Richard (Jack) Collins (born 1 August 1932) was an Australian cricket Test match umpire. He umpired five Test matches between 1972 and 1975. His first match was between Australia and Pakistan at Melbourne on 29 December 1972 to 3 January 1973, won by Australia by 92 runs. Collins' partner in this match was Peter Enright, also standing in his first Test match.

MacDonald, a halfback from Auckland, was part of Auckland's original 1908 rugby league team. He first represented New Zealand during the 1909 tour of Australia, playing in all three Test matches. MacDonald scored a try in the first Test match. MacDonald was again selected for New Zealand for the first Test match in New Zealand, against the 1910 Great Britain Lions.
George Gibbons Hearne (7 July 1856 – 13 February 1932) was an English professional cricketer who played first-class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club between 1875 and 1895. He also played in one Test match for England against South Africa in 1891/92. Hearne was part of the famous cricketing Hearne family. His brothers Alec and Frank also played Test match cricket.

Ben Austin Blair (born 26 March 1979 in Westport, New Zealand) is a rugby union footballer. He played four tests for New Zealand. He scored 37 points on his All Blacks debut against Ireland A in 2001 at Ravenhill in Belfast, however as this was not a test match he was not capped. His first Test match appearance came in November that year against Scotland.
Ahead of the third fixture, the ICC suspended him for one Test match, with Chandimal appealing against the decision. The ICC dismissed Chandimal's appeal, and the one-match ban was upheld. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) named Suranga Lakmal as the captain for the third Test of the series in Chandimal's absence. He became the sixteenth player to captain Sri Lanka in a Test match.
In 2017, Skosan was named to the South Africa team contesting a 3-match series against France. He started the first game and was awarded a penalty try after a French player held him back illegally at the goal line. He scored his first try in a test match on 19 August 2017 in the Rugby Championship test match between South Africa and Argentina.

In 1996, the ground hosted a low-scoring Test match against South Africa, where the visitors lost 105–170. Javagal Srinath took six wickets in the fourth inning of the match. South Africa won in a rematch game when they bowled India out for 76 runs in the first session of the Test match in 2008 and won the game by an inning and 90 runs.

It was first used in 1895 and is the home ground of the Queensland cricket team. It has been used for international cricket since 1931 when the ground hosted its first Test match.

In February 2020, when Zimbabwe toured Bangladesh, the home team won the one-off test match by an innings and 106 runs, which is Bangladesh's first test win since Domingo took charge as the head coach of the team as well as it was their only second test match win by innings margin.
In 1969 and during his final year at school, Veldsman was selected to represent the Western Province schools team at the annual Craven Week tournament that was held in Pietermaritzburg. During the early seventies Veldsman played for the Western Province under–20 side and he made his senior provincial debut for Western Province in 1976. Veldsman made his test match debut, which was also his only test for the Springboks, on 27 August 1977 against the World XV team at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. Along with Veldsman, there were seven other debutants in the 1977 test match, of whom five also played in only one test match for the Springboks.

At the end of the 2018 season Rudge was named captain of the England team for the test match against and in 2019 was named as England captain for the World 9s tournament in Australia in October 2019 and also the two-match test series against in November 2019. The redevelopment plans led to the ECB awarding the Ageas Bowl Test status and a Test match between England and Sri Lanka in 2011, with the redevelopment scheduled to be completed before the Test match. He made his debut in the second Test match played between Australia and the West Indies, played at Sydney on 1 January to 5 January 1931. In this match Borwick was partnered by another debutant umpire, Walter French.

He umpired one Test match, between Australia and England, played at Melbourne on 1 January to 8 January 1925. The Test series was played first and the first Test match was scheduled on 4 December in Brisbane, but was later postponed because of the death of Phillip Hughes. The first Test was later rescheduled to the Adelaide Oval on 9 December and Brisbane would be hosting the second Test on 17 December. In the first Test match in Adelaide, the Australian players wore Hughes' Test cap number 408 on their playing shirts for the match as well as black armbands in honour of their former teammate. During the 1997 Ashes series, McGrath "humiliated" England, taking eight wickets in a single innings at Lord's and restricting England to 77, the lowest total in any Test match at the ground since 1888. A month later, he dismissed seven English batsmen in the first innings at The Oval but despite these performances, Australia did not win either Test match. The 2001 Ashes series saw McGrath make four five-wicket hauls in consecutive matches. He twice took five-wicket hauls in both innings of a Test match – in March 1999 he dismissed five West Indian batsmen in each innings of the first Test of the Frank Worrell Trophy; in the following year, he took ten wickets against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
James Lillywhite led a subsequent England team which sailed on the P&O; steamship Poonah on 21 September 1876. They played a combined Australian XI, for once on even terms of 11-a-side. The match, starting on 15 March 1877 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground came to be regarded as the inaugural Test match. The combined Australian XI won this Test match by 45 runs with Charles Bannerman of Australia scoring the first Test century.

In 1995, Blofeld was censured for an allegedly antisemitic comment made live on- air on Test Match Special, when broadcasting from Headingley. He referred to onlookers watching a match from the balcony of a tall building outside the ground at Headingley as being at "the Jewish end". Blofeld and the BBC apologised for a comment that was "not spawned by malice". On 23 June 2017, Blofeld announced his retirement as a BBC Test Match Special commentator.

Ireland played their first Test match in May 2018 against Pakistan at the Malahide Cricket Club Ground in Dublin. A Test match is an international cricket match between two representative teams that are full members of the ICC.
O'Reilly described it as the best delivery he ever witnessed in a Test match. John McCarthy Blackham (11 May 1854 – 28 December 1932) was a Test cricketer who played for Victoria and Australia. A specialist wicket-keeper, Blackham played in the first Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in March 1877 and the famous Ashes Test match of 1882. Such was his skill in the position that he revolutionised the art of wicket-keeping and was known as the "prince of wicket-keepers". Late in his career, he captained the Australian team.
In the 2006 New Year Honours Hoggard was awarded the MBE for his role in the successful Ashes tournament. He was also named as one of five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in April 2006. On 6 March 2006, Hoggard was officially ranked the 4th best Test match bowler in the world. This was as a result of his Man of the Match performance for England against India in the First Test match at Nagpur in March 2006.
The Qatari network Al Jazeera, a documentary claimed that the groundsmen deliberately altered the nature of the pitch in order to produce results that favoured the home team especially during Sri Lanka's test match against Australia in Galle. The news reports claimed that two of the four-pitch fixing offences occurred in Galle, with the groundsmen at Chennai being accused of pitch-fixing charges after hosting the final Test Match of the series between India and England in 2016.
In February 2019, Gayle announced that he would retire from ODIs after the 2019 Cricket World Cup. However, in June 2019, during the Cricket World Cup, Gayle expressed his desire to play in the ODI matches against India in August, and possibly a Test match as well. Gayle last played in a Test match in September 2014, against Bangladesh. In July 2019, he was named in the West Indies' ODI squad for their series against India.
International cricket in South Africa between 1971 and 1981 consisted of four private tours arranged by English sports promoter Derrick Robins, two tours by a private team called the "International Wanderers", and one women's Test match. The apartheid policy followed by the South African Governments of the day meant that no Test match playing nation was willing to tour, thereby depriving world cricket of leading stars such as Graeme Pollock, Barry Richards, Clive Rice and Eddie Barlow.
In 2006, Irfan Pathan of India achieved a hat-trick in the first over of a Test match against Pakistan. Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle took a hat-trick in an Ashes test match against England on 25 November 2010, Siddle’s 26th birthday. The event became a well-renowned part of Australian cricket culture, being known as "Siddle’s hat-trick on his birthday", subsequently achieving cult status and being referred to by some as an internet meme.
Sri Lanka had obtained Full Member status of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1981, making them the eighth Test playing nation. The Test match against England in February 1982 was to be their inaugural Test match. Therefore, the tour was met with much enthusiasm, and Sri Lanka had even issued commemorative stamps and coins to mark the event. Celebrations were organized, and even shops and businesses were planned to be closed on the day of the match.
The Indian cricket team toured Zimbabwe between 15–25 October 1992. The series was played as a prelude for India's tour of South Africa, and included just one Test match and one One Day International (ODI). The tour began with a 50-over warm-up match, which the touring Indians won by 16 runs over the "Zimbabwe Cricket Union President's XI". Wisden Cricketers' Almanack criticised the "lifeless pitch" in the Test match, saying "both [bowling] attacks were rendered innocuous".
In March 2019 against Ireland, Afghanistan achieved their first Test match victory in their only second Test match, becoming only the third team after England and Pakistan to do so. In September 2019, Afghanistan beat hosts Bangladesh by a big margin in a one-off Test tour. Rain affected, the match almost drew, but finally the weather cleared, allowing the spin-unit of Afghanistan to take the final 4 wickets, making a historic win against a top Test team.
One charge was dismissed against Butt from the third Test match (batting out a maiden over), but the other charges (failing to report an advance from the third Test match and ordering Asif and Amir to bowl no-balls in the fourth Test) were proved, and Butt was banned from the sport of cricket for ten years, five of which were suspended should he not commit any further offences and participate in a Pakistani Cricket Board anti- corruption program.
Hearne was chosen to tour South Africa as part of Walter Read's XI in 1891–1892. The tour took place at the same time as another team, captained by W G Grace, were representing England against Australia. The sole first-class match on the tour was against a South African XI and this match was retrospectively given Test match status. He scored just nine runs in the Test match but acquitted himself well on the tour in general.
Sri Lanka's international debut came in 1997 with a three match ODI series against The Netherlands, which they lost 2–1. This was part of their preparation for the World Cup in India the following month, in which they reached the quarter finals, losing to England. The following year they hosted a tour by Pakistan, winning the three ODIs as well as what was the first Test match for both countries. It remains Sri Lanka's sole Test match.
Denness found Sachin Tendulkar guilty of ball tampering charges and handed him a one Test match ban. The incident escalated to include sports journalists accusing Denness of racism, and led to Denness being barred from entering the venue of the third Test match. The ICC revoked the status of the match as a Test as the teams rejected the appointed referee. The charges against Tendulkar and Sehwag's ban for excessive appealing triggered a massive backlash from the Indian public.

Geddes played one test match for the All Blacks in 1913. He played for the Auckland provincial team from 1911 to 1914, and won a total of 13 caps for the side. Kahts made his test debut for the Springboks on 31 May 1980 at Newlands in Cape Town against the touring British and Irish Lions team, captained by Bill Beaumont. On 25 August 2019, against the West Indies, Vihari made 93 runs off 128 balls in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test match, which was labelled as a crucial knock for India as they gave the Windies a target of 419 runs with only 1 day remaining of the Test match.
Charles Russel Deare (1852 - 4 October 1921) was a South African who umpired one Test match in South Africa. Deare was born in Port Elizabeth in South Africa's Cape Province. After umpiring a match between an eleven from Robert Warton's touring English side against a twenty-two from Port Elizabeth in January 1889, and a second match between eleven of the tourists and a fifteen from Eastern Province on 8, 9 and 11 March, he made his debut as a Test match in the 1st Test played between South Africa and England at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth, on 12 and 13 March 1889. This match between representative sides from England and South Africa was later accorded Test status, making it the first Test match played by South Africa.
In November 2001, Sehwag was involved in controversy in the Second Test match between India and South Africa at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth, when he was given a one Test ban for "excessive appealing" by ICC Match referee Mike Denness. He was one of six Indian players to receive bans, four of which were suspended bans. The unprecedented severity of the bans precipitated an international cricketing, political and administrative crisis, with the Indian cricket establishment threatening to call off the tour unless Mike Denness was removed as match referee from the third test match. ICC backed Mike Denness and the South African board backed the Indian cricket establishment and did not allow Mike Denness to enter the stadium on the first day of the third test match.

Although the United States is only an associate member of the ICC and has never played a Test match, two Test cricketers have been born in the USA. Ken Weekes was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1912 and played in two of the Tests on the West Indies' tour of England in 1939. Weekes scored 137 at The Oval in the last Test match before the Second World War. Weekes eventually returned to the United States from Jamaica, and died in Brooklyn in 1998.
Reinach made his Springbok test debut on 10 May 1986 against the New Zealand Cavaliers at Newlands in the first Springbok test match captained by Naas Botha. The other debutants in the Springbok team that day were Uli Schmidt, Gert Smal, Christo Ferreira, Jannie Breedt and Wahl Bartmann. On 31 May that year he played in his fourth and last test match against the Cavaliers. He played on the wing and scored two tries in four rugby test matches for the Springboks in 1986.

Peter Robert Enright, (born 18 January 1925 - died in Brisbane, Queensland on 18 August 2015 aged 90) was an Australian cricket Test match umpire. He umpired three Test matches between 1972 and 1974. His first match was between Australia and Pakistan at Melbourne on 29 December 1972 to 3 January 1973, won by Australia by 92 runs with Ian Redpath, Greg Chappell, Paul Sheahan, and John Benaud all scoring centuries. Enright’s partner in this match was Jack Collins, also standing in his first Test match.

Test cricket is the oldest form of cricket played at international level. A Test match is scheduled to take place over a period of five days, and is played by teams representing Full Member nations of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Pakistan obtained Full Member status of the ICC in 1952, becoming the seventh nation eligible to play Test cricket. The Pakistan national cricket team played their first Test match on 16 October 1952 against India which they lost by an innings and 70 runs.
He played his first test match for the Springboks on 3 July 1993 against France at Ellis Park. He toured with the Springboks to Australia and Argentina in 1993, playing in all the test matches during the tours. In 1994 he played only one test match and in 1995 was a member of the World Cup squad and also played in the World Cup final. Fourie played provincial rugby for South Eastern Transvaal and was the first player from the union that was selected to play for the Springboks in a test match. Fourie played in only one test match for the Springboks, the third test against the 1974 Lions at the Boet Erasmus Stadium in Port Elizabeth. He then toured with the Springboks to France at the end of 1974 and one of his fellow tourists was his brother, Carel. Fourie played in four tour matches, scoring three tries.

The exact details of his death remain unconfirmed but this date is generally accepted by the sport's historians. He is one of the least-known Australian players, so meteoric and short was his career. He had the unusual distinction of playing in a Test match (and not just any Test match, the first ever given such status) before playing for his colony.

The Wallabies won the first Test match 13 to 12, the All Blacks won the second Test Match 13 to 12, with the Wallabies coming out on top after the third Test match, winning 22 to 9. This marked the first time the Australian Wallabies won the Bledisloe Cup on Kiwi soil since 1949. The coach presented an inscribed photograph of Campbell, reaching for the ball in a line-out, thanking him for playing ‘such a big role in our Bledisloe Cup victory’.
After the Queensland rugby league team played its first two matches ever against the touring New Zealanders, who also played a match against Brisbane, the Second Test match against Australia was played in Brisbane and 6,000 spectators turned up to watch the first test match to be held in the state. The All Blacks, still grieving over the loss of Baskiville, could only field a skeleton team and did not perform a pre-match haka. As they did in the first test New Zealand dominated early in the match, with Harold Rowe scoring early, and by half time the New Zealanders led 15–2. She played in the first women's Test match in 1934, and was one of the best-known women cricketers of her day, famous for making high scores against the Australians. She scored the first Test century in women's cricket on 4 January 1935, when she made 119 for England against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground. On 18 January 2016 he was added to South Africa's Test squad, and became the 6th South African (and 102nd Test player) to score a century on debut coincidentally at Centurion Park, which was a historical moment, during the first day of the fourth Test against England. Cook was the first South African to face the pink ball as well as the first ever delivery in a day-night Test match and co-incidentally his father Jimmy Cook was also the first ever South African to have faced the white ball in an ODI. Cook is the first ever batsman to score a test century in the 3rd innings of a Day/Night test match, when he scored 104 in that innings. His 104 is still the highest individual score for any batsman in the 3rd innings of a day-night test match.
A multi-format points system was first introduced for the 2013 Women's Ashes series in England; the series consisted of one Test match, three One Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals. Six points were awarded for winning the Test match, with two points each if drawn, and two points for winning a limited overs match, and one point each if the match was drawn. Talking about the points system, then England captain Charlotte Edwards said " It preserves Test cricket, which is the most important thing, but equally we get to play the more popular formats which are one day and Twenty20 which the media and the public has a huge demand for." England won the series 12–4 after the test match was drawn, Australia won one ODI and England won two ODIs and all three T20Is.

In Jones's first season as secretary-manager Small Heath won the inaugural Second Division championship, though this did not bring automatic promotion; the club were unsuccessful in a test match against the bottom club in the First Division, Newton Heath. The following season the club were promoted via a test match victory over Darwen. Their stay in the top flight was brief, and with relegation came the loss of top players, falling attendances and consequent reduced income. Despite the financial difficulties the club found itself in, Jones was responsible for some excellent players joining.
In addition to the Pacific Nations Cup, Georgia faced Japan in a one-off test match, in what was a historic biggest loss for Georgia against Japan, losing 28–0. The November test widow saw the much anticipated test between Georgia and Italy take place, which the Italian side won 28–17. Georgia replied with a 20–9 victory over Tonga, their only other test match in the November window. At the start of the World Cup year, Georgia convincingly won the 2019 Rugby Europe Championship, winning all five matches.

International cricket has been played in New Zealand since 1930 when the New Zealand national cricket team played their first Test match against England at Christchurch. The New Zealand Women cricket team played its first Test match in 1935 at the same venue and both sides continue to play internationals at a range of venues across new Zealand. In cricket, a five-wicket haul (also known as a "five-for" or "fifer") refers to a bowler taking five or more wickets in a single innings. This is regarded as a notable achievement.
In February 2019, Chris Gayle announced his retirement from ODI cricket, and he last played in a Test match in September 2014, against Bangladesh. However, in June 2019, during the Cricket World Cup, Gayle expressed his desire to play in the ODI matches for the West Indies, and possibly a Test match as well. In July 2019, Cricket West Indies named the ODI squad for the series, with Gayle included in the team. India's MS Dhoni elected to miss the tour to serve with his army regiment, and Hardik Pandya was rested for the series.

Of the 28 games, 24 were against club or invitational teams, four were test matches against New Zealand and one was a test match against Australia. Selected for his second All Black tour of the UK, Allen made an appearance as substitute against Wales, and was selected for the starting line-up for the final match against England. This is commonly considered to have been the peak of Allen's rugby career. In 1998 Allen was devastated by a serious back injury when he was diagnosed with a prolapsed disc in his back.

A Test match is scheduled to take place over a period of five days, and is played by teams representing full member nations of the International Cricket Council (ICC). England was a founding member of the ICC, having played the first Test match against Australia in March 1877 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. They have played a total of 1,022 matches, the most by any Test playing team.

In May and November 2011, and in April 2012, he appeared as a panellist on both Have I Got News for You and Would I Lie To You? (BBC). In May 2018, he was one of 33 cricketers to be awarded a national contract by Sri Lanka Cricket ahead of the 2018–19 season. The following month, he was named the captain of Sri Lanka's Test side, for the third and final match against the West Indies, after Dinesh Chandimal was handed a one-match ban for ball tampering. He became the 16th player to captain Sri Lanka in a Test match. Sri Lanka won the match and became the first Asian team to win a Test match at Kensington Oval.
Jonathan Marc Bairstow (born 26 September 1989) is an English cricketer, who plays internationally for England and domestically for Yorkshire. Bairstow was part of the England squad that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup. A right-hand batsman, he is the only England wicket-keeper to twice claim nine dismissals in a Test match, against South Africa in January 2016, and against Sri Lanka in May 2016. Only Jack Russell (11 dismissals versus South Africa, 1995), and Bob Taylor (10 dismissals versus India 1980) have claimed more in a single Test match.
A tall, left-handed opening batsman, Smith is regarded as one of the best test match openers of all time. During South Africa's tour of England in 2003, he made double centuries in consecutive Test matches: 277 at Edgbaston, and 259 at Lord's. His 259 at Lord's still holds the record for being the highest score made by a foreign player at this prestigious venue. On 24 October 2013, Smith became the second South African and 12th overall to complete 9,000 runs in test cricket in his 112th test match.
Robin Morris, along with Dubai based business person Gaurav Rajkumar, Galle groundsman Tharanga Indika, and Sri Lankan first-class cricketer Tharindu Mendis have also been investigated by the ICC for attempting another pitch tampering at Galle in Sri Lanka's first test match against England as part of the England's series against Sri Lanka in November 2018. Concerns were raised by the English Cricket Board whether to play the series against Sri Lanka over the planned pitch tampering at the Galle Cricket Stadium for the first Test match or not.
Despite being written off as underdogs before the Australian tour began, England drew the one-day international series against Australia, two all, and retained the Ashes with a six wicket victory in the one-off test match at Bowral. Isa Guha took nine wickets in the test match, and won the player of the match award, while long serving middle order batsman, Claire Taylor scored two gritty fifties. Captain Charlotte Edwards hit the winning runs, as she had at the Sydney Cricket Ground in her 100th one day international.
Strauss managed to keep his place for the India tour and immediately rewarded the selectors by making 123 in the first innings of the first Test match with the rest of the batting lagging behind. He followed it up by holding the batting order together after a collapse that saw England 43–3 and shared a 200 run partnership with Paul Collingwood in which Strauss and Collingwood both made 108. He became just the 10th Englishman to make two hundreds in the same Test match, with Marcus Trescothick being the last in 2004.
Ireland previously toured India in February and March 2019 to play Afghanistan, a series that included the first Test match to be played between the two teams. Afghanistan won the one-off Test match by seven wickets to record their first victory in Test cricket. Prior to the tour, Asghar Afghan was reappointed as Afghanistan's captain across all three formats of international cricket. The first fixture of the tour was the 1,000th match played by Ireland across all formats, since they played a two- day match in September 1855.
Alfred German Archer (6 December 1871 in Richmond, Surrey, England – 15 July 1935 in Seaford, Sussex, England) was a cricketer who played for Worcestershire in 1900 and 1901. Archer also played one Test match for Lord Hawke's XI England on their 1898-99 tour to South Africa: this was his first appearance in first-class cricket. He also played for Incogniti (1897-1900), and I Zingari (1903). Although Archer was a wicket-keeper, he did not keep wicket or bowl in the Test match in which he played, and he batted at number 10.
Members of the Hearne family, with Alec Hearne second right Hearne was chosen to tour South Africa as part of Walter Read's XI in 1891–1892. The tour took place at the same time as another team, captained by W G Grace, were representing England against Australia. The sole first-class match on the tour was against a South African XI and this match was retrospectively given Test match status. He scored just nine runs in the Test match but acquitted himself well on the tour in general.
The Afghanistan cricket team toured Bangladesh to play the Bangladesh cricket team in September 2019 in a one-off Test match. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the schedule for the tour in August 2019. Following the 2019 Cricket World Cup, where Aghanistan lost all of their matches, Rashid Khan was named as the new captain of the Afghanistan cricket team across all three formats. Khan was 20 years and 350 days old when he led the side in the one- off Test, becoming the youngest cricketer to captain a team in a Test match.
In October 2019, the PCB proposed hosting the two Test matches in Pakistan, instead of the UAE, at venues in Rawalpindi and Karachi. Sri Lanka Cricket said that they were "very positive" with regards to the progress of playing Test cricket in Pakistan. In November 2019, the PCB confirmed the dates and venues for the Test series, with the first test match taking place in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 11 to 15 December. It was the first test match played at this venue after 15 years and first International match after 13 years.
Compton's performance in India was enough to maintain his place in England's Test squad for the tour to New Zealand in March 2013. Following a duck in the first innings of the first Test of the series Compton responded with his maiden Test century, scoring 117 as England drew the Test match. He proceeded to make a more fluent second century, scoring exactly 100, in the second Test match. Compton finished the drawn series as England's third highest run-scorer with 232 runs at an average of 46.40.
In September 2017, Cricket Australia confirmed that the first match, the WODI at Allan Border Field, Brisbane, had sold out, the first time a Women's Ashes fixture had done so. The Test match was played as a day/night fixture, the first time a Women's Test has been played as such. The WODIs were part of the 2017–20 ICC Women's Championship, with Australia winning the WODI series 2–1. The Test match ended as a draw, with Ellyse Perry of Australia scoring the first double century in a Women's Ashes Test.
This was the first time an all-Welsh front row was selected for a Lions test match since Billy Williams, Bryn Meredith and Courtney Meredith on the 1955 Lions tour. Jones was sent home after the 2nd test match with South Africa in which they lost 28–25 after dislocating his right shoulder. Jones was sidelined for six months with the injury and had surgery on torn shoulder ligaments. During the two Tests, Jones was on the field for 81 minutes, during which the British Lions scored 30 points and conceded 15.
On 1 February 1930, the Queen's Park Oval hosted its first Test match. The second Test of the MCC 1929–30 tour of the West Indies saw England under Les Ames defeat the West Indies under Errol Hunte thanks largely to a century by the England captain and a double-century by Patsy Hendren. The ground also hosted the Second Test of the 1935 tour, which started on 24 January. This time the West Indies recorded its first Test match victory at the ground, defeating Bob Wyatt's England by 217 runs.
It was the first time that South Korea has left the Asian region for a test match since playing Tonga in 2007, and their first non-qualifying test match since playing Australia in 1987. Several invitational teams were in action during the window, where the Barbarians played three national sides; South Africa, competing for the Killik Cup, Fiji and Czech Republic. The Czech Republic were the first team outside the elite 20 nations since Belgium in May 2008. It will serve as a celebration match for the 90th anniversary of the Czech Rugby Union.
Krantz played his senior provincial rugby for the Free State and Northern Transvaal. He was a member of the Free State team that won the Currie Cup in 1976 as well as the Northern Transvaal team that won in 1980. Krantz made his test match debut for the Springboks against the touring New Zealand side captained by Andy Leslie, on 24 July 1976 at the Kings Park Stadium in Durban and scored a try on test debut. He played one further test match for the Springboks, against the 1981 touring team from Ireland.
Naseem Abbas Shah (; born 15 February 2003) is a Pakistani cricketer. In October 2019, at the age of 16, he was called up to the Pakistan cricket team for their Test series against Australia. He made his international debut for Pakistan in November 2019 against Australia, becoming the ninth-youngest player to make their debut in Test cricket. In December 2019, in the second Test match against Sri Lanka, he became the second-youngest bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a Test match, and also the youngest pace bowler to do so.
On 9 February 2020, the PCB proposed the idea of playing the second Test match as a day/night fixture. The PCB's CEO, Wasim Khan, said that "with Test cricket returning to Pakistan now and many countries also going towards day and night Tests, we want to give our players maximum exposure". However, two days later the BCB declined the offer to play a day/night Test match. The BCB's chief executive officer, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, said that the team was not yet ready to play a day/night Test due to lack of preparation.
New Zealand returned to Australia in March 2020 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches for the Chappell–Hadlee Trophy. In the first Test, Aleem Dar of Pakistan stood in his 129th Test match as an on-field umpire, surpassing Jamaican Steve Bucknor's record of officiating in the most number of Test matches. Ahead of the fourth day of the second Test match, Australia's Peter Siddle announced his retirement from international cricket. Australia won the first two Test matches to take an unassailable lead, and therefore retaining the Trans-Tasman Trophy.
In the summer of his first test match, Amar Singh hit an unbeaten 131, against Lancashire, coming at no.10, a position from which he had scored his 51 against England in his first test match. In the light of his bowling performances, another aspect of his game that had been overshadowed along with his batting was Singh's fielding an catching. Ronald George Bush (3 May 1909 – 10 May 1996) was a New Zealand rugby union player and coach. He played one test match for the All Blacks in 1931 and was coach of the All Blacks in 1962.

Mithra Wettimuny was one of three brothers to represent Sri Lanka (all opening batsmen). His elder brother Sunil played in the 1975 and 1979 Cricket World Cups while his youngest brother Sidath scored Sri Lanka's first Test match hundred.
Hans Streng was a Swiss footballer who played two season for FC Basel in the late 1920's. He played as Striker. Streng joined Basel's first team in 1926. In his first season he played only one test match.
Frederick George Brooks, OBE (1 May 1883 – 5 September 1947) was a Rhodesian sportsman who represented his country as both a cricketer and rugby union player. He also played a Test match for the England national rugby union team.
He then played in the fourth test against the Lions at Ellis Park, that ended in a 13–all draw between the teams. His third and final test match was in 1975 against France at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

Jill Powell (born 19 January 1957) is a former English women's cricketer who played one Women's Test match for the English women's team in 1979, as well as playing a single Women's One Day International in that same year.
Lotte Egging (born 8 June 1988) is a Dutch former cricketer. She played in one Test match, twelve One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 (T20Is) matches. She took a hat-trick in an ODI against Pakistan in 2008.
This remains the lowest total for a completed innings in a Test match since New Zealand were dismissed for 26 in 1955. Blamed for his team's poor showing, Indian captain Ajit Wadekar retired from Test cricket after the tour.
At the end of the tour Laver refused to produce his records of the trip, insisting that he kept books only for the players' benefit. In the Test match at Old Trafford, Manchester on 26 to 28 July 1909, Laver had, in Wisden's words "a great day against England", taking 8 wickets for 31 runs in the first innings. "English batsmen considered him a very good but not an exceptional bowler, and often wondered why they fared so badly against him", said Wisden. This was a record performance in a Test match at Old Trafford, equalled by Fred Trueman in 1952, until Jim Laker's extraordinary 10 for 53 and 9 for 37 in 1956. Laver's last Test match was between Australia and England at The Oval, Kennington, London on 9 to 11 August 1909, another drawn match with England needing 208 runs with 7 wickets in hand.
The 2008 ANZAC test, also known as the Centenary Test as it commemorated the 100th anniversary of the first test match between the two countries, was a rugby league test match played between Australia and New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 9 May 2008. Commemorating the first trans-Tasman Test match, which was also played at Sydney on the same day in 1908, it was the 9th Anzac test played between the two nations since the first was played under the Super League banner in 1997. Amiss made his Test debut for England in the fifth Test of the 1966 series with West Indies, and he proved an accomplished Test match batsman. He was one of the first batsmen to use a protective helmet. In scoring 3,612 Test runs, Amiss made eleven half-centuries and eleven centuries, including two double centuries against the West Indies. His highest Test match score, also his highest first-class score, was 262 not out against the West Indies in the 1973–74 Kingston Test, an innings that saved the Test match for England after they conceded a first innings lead of 230. The next highest score in England's innings was 38. After being dropped by England in 1975, he made a successful return against the West Indies at the Oval in the final Test of 1976, although his 203 in the first innings did not prevent England losing the match.

The 2011 ANZAC Test was a rugby league test match played between Australia and New Zealand on 6 May 2011 at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast. Australia won their tenth straight Anzac test with a score of 20–10.
Murtagh played in Ireland's one-off Test match against England at Lord's in July 2019. On the opening morning of the match, he took his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket, the first such haul by a bowler for Ireland.

Bangladesh played their first ever Day/night test match against India at Eden Gardens in November 2019 BCB appointed Russell Domingo as the head coach for the national team for a 2-year contract on 17 August 2019. In his first assignment as coach Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan in one-off Test match at Chittagong in September 2019. But in the tri-series, comprising Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, Bangladesh reached to final winning 3 of their 4 group matches. But the final match with Afghanistan was washed away. Bangladesh then toured India in October–November to play 3 T20Is and 2 test matches.

In July 2019, Rankin was named in Ireland's Test squad for their one-off match against England at Lord's. Nazar Mohammad (Urdu: نذر محمد) (born 5 March 1921, Lahore, Punjab – died 12 July 1996, Lahore) was a Pakistani cricketer who played in five Tests in 1952. He was educated at Islamia College, Lahore. In October 1952, in Pakistan's second Test match and first Test victory, he became the first player to score a Test century for Pakistan, and the first player to remain on the ground for an entire Test match. An opening batsman, he carried his bat for his score of '124 not out' in Pakistan's total of 331 in an innings victory over India, batting for 8 hours 35 minutes.
In 1912, he was a member of the United States team that played against Australia in its first test match on November 16, but he did not make an appearance in that game. On November 15, 1913, Cass played for the United States at scrum-half in its first test match against New Zealand—a 51–3 defeat. In 1915, alongside fellow Stanford and United States rugby player Mow Mitchell, Cass was a member of a Southern California All-Star rugby team that played a series of matches against university and Northern California All-Star opposition in October and November of that year.
Like Albion teammates, Joseph Lavery and Hubert Turtill, Pearce was selected for the professional All Blacks 1907-1908 tour of Australia and Great Britain. All the members of the touring party received a life ban from the New Zealand Rugby Union. Pearce played in several test matches while on tour, including the first ever rugby league test match on 1 January 1908, and captained the side in the third test match against Australia. Andrew Gordon Ganteaume (22 January 1921 - 17 February 2016) was a Trinidadian cricketer who played one Test match for the West Indies in 1948 as a batsman. He scored 112 in his only Test innings which left him with the highest Test batting average in history. Ganteaume played for Trinidad from a young age and was chosen to play in a Test match against England following his good batting form in 1948. However, his slow scoring probably cost him his place and he never played another Test, although he toured England with the West Indies in 1957.
The final test match was between Burnley and Stoke. Other results meant both clubs knew a draw would be sufficient to give them First Division football. Neither team attempted to score, in what the Staffordshire Advertiser called a "fiasco".. Sutcliffe proposed that the First Division be expanded by two clubs, thus giving space for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, the two clubs adversely affected by the arranged test match.
