Tombstone of the FitzGerald Seneschals of Imokilly By the early 17th century the FitzGeralds were a spent force. In the south-east corner of the old church in Ballyoughtera, the stone has a boar crest surrounded by triple incised circles and shallow cross carving which is also encircle. At the northern end of Ballyoughtera church ruin is the grave of another Richard Boyle, the 4th Earl of Shannon who died in 1868. This tomb bears the inscription, "A sorrowing wife placed this stone in memory of the best and most affectionate of husbands".

She was not well when she left Chicago, and she contracted a severe cold, which through the pressure of her work developed into typhoid pneumonia, of which she died December 12, 1891, in Boston, and was buried at Riverview Cemetery, in Streator. In social groups, bereavement is a natural stress reaction in the event of the loss of a significant loved one through death. Like Humans, social animal species are affected by the loss of one of their own and can undergo psychological stress or trauma. The behaviour that these social groups expect following bereavement is referred to as mourning: the act of sorrowing during a period of time during which signs of grief are shown. Ample research in fields of biology, animal behaviour, evolutionary and ecological biology, cognitive ethology, and neuroscience has shown that animals have brains and minds, used, like in Humans, for thinking and feeling.

Near a small seaport on the Italian Riviera near 16th century Genoa, the fleet weighs anchor to the sounds of a joyous song of the sailors as they heave at the windlass and spread the sail. Their brave declaration of their determination to sweep the Saracens from the sea is contrasted with the lament of the wives and mothers, sisters and sweethearts, left sorrowing on the shore. At sea, aboard one of the galleys, in the midnight watch, the thoughts and prayers of Il Marinajo go back to the loved ones left behind and invoke for them the protection of our Lady, Star of the Sea. "What doth now the maid I love?" he wonders.

The Test match in 1882 was a one-off game played at The Oval in London, England, and the English cricket team lost it to Australia by seven runs. In response, the Sporting Times printed the following "obituary" to English cricket: > In Affectionate Remembrance of ENGLISH CRICKET, which died at the Oval on > 29th AUGUST, 1882, Deeply lamented by a large circle of sorrowing friends > and acquaintances R.I.P. Mario Bernardi (left) with another conductor, Bramwell Tovey, in 2005 Alan Blyth reviewed the album on LP in Gramophone in January 1980. Readers who were regular visitors to Glyndebourne, he wrote, would already be familiar with Frederica von Stade's portrayal of Penelope, the lonely, sorrowing queen of Ithaca in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria. In her arioso and recitative "Torna, torna", she was "deeply moved [and] deeply moving" as she pleaded for her husband to come back to her after his long absence in the Greeks' war against the Trojans. Monteverdi's genius, von Stade's artistry and the able support of Janice Taylor as Ericlea combined to paint a picture that captured the very essence of romantic devotion, even if the music was performed in the "fanciful" edition confected by Raymond Leppard.

She wrote in first person, making it seem that the flower that was drawn on the next page was telling you the story of how what it did or how it lived. Like in the excerpt from “The Sweet Brier” poem: “...And often in the hallow’d spot, Where pale the mourner weeps, I breathe my fragrance o’er the grave Where youthful beauty sleeps. Thus, year by year, my little charms I cheerfully impact Pleased when I check a sorrowing tear Or cheer one lonely heart.” It seems that from the poem the lovely little sweet brier would like to comfort those that mourn or are sorrowful. As you read the poem in the book you could look at Badger’s beautiful drawing of the sweet brier and imagine it whispering the poem to you.

Hulsker (1980), 404 During this time, he was only able to write his brother Theo once, in March 1890, and then only briefly to say he was totally stupefied (totalement abruti) and unable to write. Hulsker remarks that it would have been remarkable for Van Gogh to have copied his lithograph so faithfully from memory.

He died at 34 Via Montebello, Florence, on 24 January 1876, and his will was proved on 21 March under £12,000. Despite her writing career and his publishing business, the couple often found themselves in dire financial straits, and Elisheva was several times forced to leave her husband and daughter behind for literary tours of Jewish communities in Europe where she did poetry readings and told stories to large audiences at specially arranged events; during the school vacation in summer, her husband and daughter would accompany her. In the summer of 1932, in the midst of such a tour in Chișinău — then in Romania and now in Moldova — her husband, Shimon, suddenly died. Elisheva returned to Tel Aviv, sorrowing at her husband's death, and her attempts at earning a livelihood (among other things, as a librarian at Tel Aviv's Sha’ar Zion public library) were unsuccessful. Although she had earned a living from her literary tours of Europe, she and her daughter now fell into absolute poverty.

Suetonius, Lives of the Caesars, "Caesar", 6. Though it would seem that the Julii first came to Rome in the reign of Tullus Hostilius, the name occurs in Roman legend as early as the time of Romulus. It was Proculus Julius who was said to have informed the sorrowing Roman people, after the strange departure of Romulus from the world, that their king had descended from heaven and appeared to him, bidding him tell the people to honor him in future as a god, under the name of Quirinus. Some modern critics have inferred from this, that a few of the Julii might have settled in Rome in the reign of the first king; but considering the entirely fabulous nature of the tale, and the circumstance that the celebrity of the Julia gens in later times would easily lead to its connection with the earliest times of Roman story, no historical argument can be drawn from the mere name occurring in this legend.
