The Sheepman is a 1958 American Western comedy film directed by George Marshall and starring Glenn Ford, Shirley MacLaine, and Leslie Nielsen.

One of these shows brought Tracy to the attention of a Broadway producer, who offered him the lead in a new play. The Sheepman previewed in October 1925, but it received poor reviews and closed after its trial run in Connecticut.Deschner (1972) p.

Grant won the Bronze Wrangler, an annual award presented by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, twice, for The Alamo in 1961 and The Comancheros the following year. He and William Bowers were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Sheepman in 1959.

Bolacalı refers to a cross bred goat (Boer goat and a local breed from Van) Sabah Newspaper article and koyuncu means sheepman. But the village economy depends mostly on fruit and vegetable farming.

The handsome trending actor Glenn Ford, having experience in western films 3:10 to Yuma (1957) and The Sheepman (1958), soon became attached as star. King Vidor turned down the chance to direct. Arnold Schulman was signed to write the screenplay. Anthony Mann was eventually chosen to direct the reimagining of the 1931 classic.

Hutton Cranswick is listed in the Domesday Book. Within the village is the remnant of a 13th- century monastic moat beside Sheepman Lane, marking the site of a former Cistercian Grange belonging to Meaux Abbey near Beverley. Less than north-west of Hutton are the remnants of Howe Hill Bronze Age round barrow. The diameter mound was excavated in 1892.

In order to seize his cattle ranch to turn it into a sheep pasture, a wealthy sheepman and a crooked doctor have the ranch owner Sam Holster certified insane and placed in an insane asylum. His son returns from five years in Baja California to stop the range war and set things straight using his six gun and a variety of mail order practical joke devices.

Seeking to displace the Circle S ranching operations, a sheepman named Daggs hired a Hashknife cowboy/gunman named Thistle to eliminate Lot Smith. The strategy was to pick a fight with the targeted person, get him to draw, then shoot him and claim self-defense. Daggs and Thistle encountered Smith working livestock in his corral with two young sons. Thistle proceeded to goad Smith to anger.

An aging cowboy, Ross Bodine, and a younger one, Frank Post, work on cattleman Walt Buckman's ranch in Montana. A neighboring sheepman, Hansen, is in a long-running feud with Buckman. Ross has a dream of riding off to Mexico to retire from the hard work of the range, but he doesn't have much money saved up. Frank suggests they rob a bank and head for Mexico together.

Cattleman John Sparks, later governor of Nevada, hired him to defend two of his cowboys accused of murdering two sheep herders.David H. One cowboy, Jackson Lee "Diamondfield Jack" Davis, had a notorious reputation as a gunman, and had earlier shot and wounded another sheepman. Despite a deeply flawed case, with much mishandling of evidence by authorities, Davis was convicted and sentenced to hang.

In a 1981 interview Ford said his favorite of his own films were The Blackboard Jungle, Gilda, Cowboy, 3:10 to Yuma, The Sheepman and The Gazebo. In 1905, Terrell County was created by the Texas Legislature by carving about out of Pecos County. It was organized the same year. Sanderson became the county seat. In 1881, Texas and New Orleans Railroad surveyors reached the site of present-day Sanderson. Originally named Strawbridge by founder Cyrus W. “Charley” Wilson, the name was later changed in honor of railroad Engineer Joseph P. Sanderson. Charles Downie, a Scot, homesteaded in 1881 and became the first permanent sheepman in the area.

A narrator tells of the great wars that raged in Montana territory over the grazing of cattle versus sheep. Men on both sides of the battle died, but eventually it was the sheep herders who were driven out. Morgan Lane (Flynn), an Australian sheepman, rides to Montana territory in 1871. He and his men come across a sign declaring that any sheep herders crossing the line into the area will be shot on sight as the surrounding plains are strictly for cattle grazing.

Marshall then received an offer from MGM, who were then being run by Sol Siegel, to direct Glenn Ford in a Western, The Sheepman (1958). It was a hit, so he stayed at the studio to direct Imitation General (1959), with Ford; The Mating Game (1959) with Debbie Reynolds; and It Started with a Kiss (1959) and The Gazebo (1959), both with Reynolds and Ford. All these films were popular. Marshall and Ford made Cry for Happy (1961) at Columbia, which featured location filming in Japan.

The situation infuriated Hislop, who warned the trespasser to stay clear of their land or they would stampede his sheep. The sheepman ignored Hislop's warnings, and the prospect of range warfare loomed. On February 4, 1878, Hislop wrote the following in a letter to his sister: Although the dispute never erupted into conflict, it was a decisive factor in Hislop's decision to give up ranching and return to England. By March 1878, he became annoyed at Vail and Harvey's reluctance to market livestock and recoup their initial investment costs.

In 2002, Dick provided the voice of Mr. Sheepman and various other characters in the short-lived animated series Clone High. Dick provides the voice of Maurice from the radio station WCTR's segment "Gardening with Maurice" in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and he provided the voice of Aunt Beth in the 2006 video game Marc Eckō's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. He also was the voice of Dylan in 'The Reef'. As of October 2006, Dick has hosted his own radio program, The Shit Show, on Howard Stern's Sirius channel Howard 101 every Thursday night at midnight eastern.

Two years later, in 1930, Collins would have a featured role in another film with Wolheim, the classic All Quiet on the Western Front. In 1922 he would marry the silent film actress, Billie Rhodes, and the two would remain married until Collins death. After finishing work on They Died With Their Boots On, in which he had a small role, Collins took a break from the film industry, and at the age of 47 re-enlisted in the armed services for the duration of World War II. He would return to films with a small role in 1947's Easy Come, Easy Go. Collins would continue to act in films through 1958, mostly in supporting and small roles. His final film would be in the Glenn Ford 1958 vehicle, The Sheepman.

Ford's versatility allowed him to star in a number of popular comedies, almost always as the beleaguered, well-meaning, but nonplussed straight man, set upon by circumstances as in The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956), in which he played an American soldier sent to Okinawa to convert the occupied island's natives to the American way of life, and is instead converted by them. Every movie Ford starred in around this time was a hit: 3:10 to Yuma (1957), a classic Western at Columbia; Don't Go Near the Water (1957), a service comedy at MGM; and Cowboy (1958) with Jack Lemmon at Columbia. Ford first worked with director George Marshall in The Sheepman (1958), a popular Western at MGM. They reteamed on the service comedy Imitation General (1958).

Marshall (December 29, 1891 - February 17, 1975) was an American actor, screenwriter, producer, film and television director, active through the first six decades of film history. Relatively few of Marshall's films are well-known today, with Destry Rides Again, The Blue Dahlia, The Ghost Breakers, The Sheepman, and How the West Was Won being the biggest exceptions. John Houseman called him "one of the old maestros of Hollywood... he had never become one of the giants but he held a solid and honorable position in the industry." While Marshall worked on almost all kinds of films imaginable, he started his career in the early silent period doing mostly Westerns, a genre he never completely abandoned.
