Abdominal scopa of Megachile on a composite A scopa (plural scopae; Latin for "broom") is any of a number of different modifications on the body of a non- parasitic bee that form a pollen-carrying apparatus. In most bees, the scopa is simply a particularly dense mass of elongated, often branched, hairs (or setae) on the hind leg. When present on the hind legs, the modified hairs are, at a minimum, on the tibia, but some bees also have modified hairs on the femur and/or trochanter. The game requires a 52 card deck, hence the traditional local deck having 52 cards rather than the 40-card decks typical throughout the rest of Italy - including the 8, 9 and 10 of each suit.Giampaolo Dossena, Giochi di carte italiani, Milano, Arnoldo Mondadori Editore 1984 - . The Trentine patterned deck is also produced in an alternate 52-card version for playing dobellone, another game in the Scopa family, but Bresciane cards are the only Italian set to be produced exclusively in a pack of 52 cards as standard.

Grant Haskin (born 1968) is currently serving as Member of the Cape Town City Council and Leader of the African Christian Democratic Party in the Cape Town City Council. He previously served as Executive Deputy Mayor of Cape Town, Acting Mayor of Cape Town, Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Sports and Amenities. He served in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament for two periods. Each cell is made from circular disks cut from plant leaves using the bee's mandibles, hence the name "leafcutter". Ceratina are commonly dark, shining, even metallic bees, with fairly sparse body hairs and a weak scopa on the hind tibia. Most species have some yellow markings, most often restricted to the face, but often elsewhere on the body. Built in the fifteenth century, it was initially much smaller than it is today, with the most recent extension added at the beginning of the twentieth century. Religious frescoes cover its inner walls. According to the legend, the name of the chapel ('Madonna della scopa' is Italian for 'Madonna of the broom') is due to a miraculous apparition in which the Virgin Mary intervened to clean up this chapel at a time in which it had been abandoned. The game requires four players, each player in partnership with the player opposite. Each player is dealt 12 cards, with the remaining 4 laid face-up on the table. The Colletidae are a family of bees, and are often referred to collectively as plasterer bees or polyester bees, due to the method of smoothing the walls of their nest cells with secretions applied with their mouthparts; these secretions dry into a cellophane-like lining. The five subfamilies, 54 genera, and over 2000 species are all evidently solitary, though many nest in aggregations. Two of the subfamilies, Euryglossinae and Hylaeinae, lack the external pollen-carrying apparatus (the scopa) that otherwise characterizes most bees, and instead carry the pollen in their crops. These groups, and most genera in this family, have liquid or semiliquid pollen masses on which the larvae develop.

Although Cassino is often said to be of Italian origin, no evidence of it being played in Italy has been found and the earliest references to its Italian cousins, Scopa and Scopone, post-date those of Cassino. Riva Valdobbia was a seasonal pasture area in the summer from ancient time and vaguely named Pietre Gemelle,Atto di Cittadinatico al Comune di Vercelli, 1217 the Twin Stones, as the main landmark of the plain are two blocks, still there at the north end of Riva. As parasites, they lack a pollen- carrying scopa, and are often extraordinarily wasp-like in appearance. All known species share the behavioral trait of females entering host nests when the host is absent, and inserting their eggs into the wall of the host cell; the larval parasite emerges later, after the cell has been closed by the host female, and kills the host larva. The first-instar larvae of nomadines are specially adapted for this, and possess long mandibles they use to kill the host larva, though these mandibles are lost as soon as the larva molts to the second instar, at which point it simply feeds on the pollen/nectar provisions. Another unusual behavioral habit seen in adults of various genera is they frequently "sleep" while grasping onto plant stems or leaves with only their mandibles.
