While Dewees wrote the songs himself, he asked Matt Pryor and Rob Pope to help record some of the instrumentals. The resulting album, Greatest Hits 1984-1987 leaned heavily on the use of synthesizer keyboards for its sound. Their work together on the Reggie and the Full Effect album led Pryor to invite Dewees to collaborate with The Get Up Kids on Red Letter Day, a five- track EP produced by Ed Rose to fulfill their two-record deal with Doghouse.

After the release of the Home EP, Inspection 12 signed on with Honest Don's and entered the studio in December to record their fifth album and record label debut, In Recovery. By now, James was back as a guitarist, and Yellowcard violinist Sean Mackin was asked to record the string sections, along with Ataris cellist Angus Cooke. Joey Cape from Lagwagon and Bad Astronaut also made a brief appearance, singing a few lines on the song "Red Letter Day". On March 6, 2001, awaiting the release of Inspection 12's debut album, eighteen-year-old drummer Scott Shad went into diabetic shock while driving alone in his car, passed out and crashed into a brick wall.

The site had something of a Red Letter Day on 9 May 1992 when Class 58 locomotive 58 044 was ceremonially named "Oxcroft Opencast". The site continued in railway use until Spring 2006, latterly to load coal opencasted from Arkwright colliery and brought to Oxcroft by road. The club's first incarnation was as a combined All Blacks and Springboks team under the captaincy of Avril Malan, in a fixture played against Natal RFC during the All Blacks' tour of South Africa in 1960. Another "red letter" day in the club's history was when it defeated the touring British Barbarians at Port Elizabeth in 1969. The club's existence was precarious thereafter but merged with the Quaggas, a Transvaal Barbarians side, in 1976 and recorded a narrow defeat (31–32) against the touring All Blacks' side of that year. In May-June 1979,the SA Barbarians played against the Middlesex RFC County Centenary touring team, captained by 1974 B&I; Lion Chris Rawlston, with a 28-28 draw being recorded.

This was the day on which De Burgh's Bridge across the Lane Cove River at North Ryde was officially opened and the day on which the first sod of the Field of Mars Tramway was turned. It was, wrote the Cumberland Argus & Fruit Growers Advocate, "a red-letter day in the Ryde district". The Minister for Public Works, Mr E. W. O'Sullivan, first opened the bridge at North Ryde, then returned to Gladesville to turn the sod, after which the official party of between 120 and 130 people "sat down to a banquet in the Drill Hall, Gladesville" at which Alderman J. Redshaw, the Mayor of Ryde, presided. Ex- Alderman Robert Campbell Swan, whose residence in Eltham Street Gladesville adjoined the Drill Hall, "had a string of flags conspicuously displayed" in honour of the occasion.

The discography of The Get Up Kids, an American rock band that formed in 1995, consists of six studio albums, five singles, one live album and seven extended plays. Shortly after forming in their hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, the band signed to Doghouse Records and released their first EP, Woodson, along with their debut full-length studio album Four Minute Mile (1997). After the success of their first album, the band was picked up by then-underground label Vagrant Records, where they recorded Red Letter Day, their second EP, followed by their second album Something to Write Home About. The album was a massive success, selling 134,000 copies in its first three years of release in the US. They supported the album for three years with tours and two singles; "Ten Minutes" and "Action & Action".

The Marist Brothers had been invited to Manly parish but found the premises unsuitable so Archbishop Duhig negotiated an agreement to establish a school and residence for the Brothers at Rosalie which was to be their 28th establishment in Australia. The arrival of the Marist Brothers was seen as "a red letter day" for Queensland where previously the Christian Brothers had a monopoly over the higher education of Catholic boys. The foundation stone of the Rosalie monastery was laid on 29 July 1928 by Bartholomew Catteneo the Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop James Duhig, and parish priest, Dean W Lee with Br Reginald Moore, the Director of Lismore representing the Marist Brothers Provincial. The site chosen for the monastery was adjacent to the school building on Fernberg Road which was renovated and remodelled to accommodate the classes of boys that the brothers would teach.

Remedios Circle at dusk In 1980, restaurateur Larry Cruz opened Café Adriatico at the corner of Remedios Circle and Adriatico Street, attracting other entrepreneurs who have been credited for not only reviving the circle, but also for transforming it into the center of Manila's nightlife for much of the 1980s and 1990s: an event which author Alfred "Krip" Yuson called a red-letter day in the cultural calendar of the Philippines. Unlike other cities in Southeast Asia such as Singapore, where government invested heavily in developing particular areas for nightlife, little government investment was poured into transforming Remedios Circle, instead growing organically on its own. Government investment has focused largely on infrastructure improvements, with the circle last being renovated in 2006, and a bike lane connecting it to the Paraiso ng Batang Maynila opening in 2012. On August 30, 2009, a monument to Marcelo H. del Pilar was transferred here by the Association of Filipino Journalists.

Long Forgotten Dream was their first album to appear on the Bluegrass Unlimited (BU) National Bluegrass Survey with four months on the chart; Spread Your Wings followed with three months; and Another Night of Waiting for nine months with a peak ranking of No. 7. In July 2003 "Bona Fide" became their first album to reach No. 1 on the BU National Bluegrass Survey; "A Long Way Back Home" occupied the No. 1 position for four months; "Red Letter Day" for two months; "Iron and Diamonds" for one month; "Ring the Bell" for two months; "Help My Brother" for eight months; and "They Called It Music" for six months. Singles from their recordings have consistently made the BU Songs Chart with "Long Forgotten Dream" lasting eight months, "Picture in the Moonlight" eleven and "She Paints a Picture" thirteen. The first single to attain No. 1 position was held by "Mountain Song" for two consecutive months; "Ring the Bell" for three; "Farm of Yesterday" for two; "Help My Brother" for three; and "They Called It Music" for three.

The band, who wanted to leave Doghouse, began discussions with other labels, such as Geffen Records, Vagrant Records and Mojo Records.Shea 2009, event occurs at 1:26:40–47, 1:28:10–2, 1:28:14–5 Starting from December, the group wrote a batch of new material as they were waiting for their deal with Mojo Records to be finalized. By April, tired that the negotiations with Mojo Records had taken too long and eventually came to a halt, the band felt it wasn't the right time to be signing with a major. Vocalist/guitarist Matthew Pryor later revealed that the label's founder Jay Rifkin wanted to treat the band as a new act, own the rights to their music publishing, in addition to being unwilling to buy the band out of their contract with Doghouse.Shea 2009, event occurs at 1:28:16–34, 1:30:01–7 To get out of their Doghouse contract, the band recorded the Red Letter Day and forfeited the vinyl rights to their following album.Shea 2009, event occurs at 1:31:12–6, 1:31:25–6 That same month, they formed their own record label, Heroes & Villains Records, which signed a deal with Vagrant Records that gave them other acts signed to Heroes & Villains, which included the members' solo projects.
