LP 944-20 is a dim brown dwarf of spectral class M9 located about 21 light- years from the Solar System in the constellation of Fornax. With a visual apparent magnitude of 18.69, it has one of the dimmest visual magnitudes listed on the RECONS page.

2MASS 0415-0935 belongs to the spectral class T8V; its surface temperature is 600–750 kelvins. As with other brown dwarfs of spectral type T, its spectrum is dominated by methane. The Research Consortium On Nearby Stars (RECONS) estimates the brown dwarf to be 0.03 solar masses.

Upon the death of Gliese in 1993, Jahreiß wrote Gliese's obituary. The Gliese catalog stars are now known by the abbreviation GJ (Gliese–Jahreiß) in recognition of Jahreiß's contribution. Jahreiß contributed to the Hipparcos catalogs of nearby stars. In 1997, as a member of the Research Consortium on Nearby Stars (RECONS), he identified GJ 1061, at a distance of just 3.68 parsecs, as the 20th closest star to Earth.

The REsearch Consortium On Nearby Stars (RECONS) is an international group of astronomers founded in 1994 to investigate the stars nearest to the Solar System - with a focus on those within 10 parsecs (32.6 light years), but as of 2012 stretching the horizon to 25 parsecs. In part the project hopes a more accurate survey of local star systems will give a better picture of the star systems in the Galaxy as a whole.

Henry wrote several papers with Sagan on the organic chemistry in planetary atmospheres between 1985 and 1991. Gloria Reșița played its home matches on Gloria Stadium in Reșița, Caraș-Severin County. The stadium is located in the Govândari neighborhood and has a capacity of 5,000 people, the 2nd largest arena in Reșița and Caraș- Severin County, after Mircea Chivu Stadium. Since 2014, the stadium was abandoned and reached an advanced state of degradation. In 2016, Municipality of Reșița came into possession of the stadium after a lawsuit with the Recons Company, the company which privatized one of the old plants, claiming the stadium as well.

Gliese 1061 is a red dwarf star located approximately 12 light-years from Earth in the southern constellation of Horologium. Even though it is a relatively nearby star it has an apparent visual magnitude of about 13 so it can only be seen with at least a moderately-sized telescope. The proper motion of Gliese 1061 has been known since 1974, but it was estimated to be further away: approximately 25 light-years distant based upon an estimated parallax of 0.130″. Its distance was only accurately determined in 1997 by the RECONS team.

LP 876-10 is also associated with the Fomalhaut system, making it a trinary star. In October 2013, Eric Mamajek and collaborators from the RECONS consortium announced that the previously known high-proper-motion star LP 876-10 had a distance, velocity, and color-magnitude position consistent with being another member of the Fomalhaut system. LP 876-10 was originally catalogued as a high-proper-motion star by Willem Luyten in his 1979 NLTT catalogue; however, a precise trigonometric parallax and radial velocity was only measured quite recently. LP 876-10 is a red dwarf of spectral type M4V, and located even further from Fomalhaut A than TW PsA—about 5.7° away from Fomalhaut A in the sky, in the neighbouring constellation Aquarius, whereas both Fomalhaut A and TW PsA are located in constellation Piscis Austrinus.

General Sabaneyev then launches the raiding force from Belarus through Poland and into Germany, using the covert assault train Red Blizzard 1 as his mobile headquarters.
